    Just got 70k on my impala, i been told not to get a flush but a complete trans fluid change. Dealer wants $200 for it , I appreciate the vid.

      What would be the difference.... one actually pushes oil while putting new oil and gets the oil out of your torque converter the other just drains and fills

      I was more or less making a statement and the only time a flush is bad is when you don’t do it regularly and my car doesn’t have a pan or replaceable filter.... so a flush had helped out a lot but now that it’s out of warranty I’ll do drain and fills

    Same issue with my 2014 Impala v6. about to hit 77k.
    Going on a road trip next week & i’ve noticed the past month or so of slower gear shifts. Did my oil change and then decided to check transmission fluid. Turns out it was pretty low of about a quart or more. Ended up just adding some and not draining any but will do that soon if the color gets uglier.
    Thanks for the vid! it’s hard to find videos for the V6 variant 10th gen bodies.

    I have found that if I drain it, refill it with the same amount that came out. Run it a day or two and then do it again it pretty much stimulates a flush. You get most of the old stuff out.

    Even the new impala having the 6T70 transmission; I got one in my 2015 Impala Limited LT except its the old body style from 06-13, it’s the same setup, drain and fill. Maxlife ATF is actually very good I used it on my car when the transmission had a whinning noise back at 56k. I usually change mine every 12 months. It’s already at 85k and still drives great.

    This is easier than changing engine oil. Just drain & fill. My 2015 with 3.6 takes exactly 5 quarts. Make sure it is dexron VI

    • @johnnygarcia8355

      No, it's a internal filter from what I understand, probably done during a rebuild..theres no pan underneath like the old school transmissions.

    • @leebuck180
      @leebuck180 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      on the Wix filters page when you look up the filters for the 2014 impala, the transmission filter is listed as NS (non-serviceable).

    I'm at 68k miles and it says online to get it done at 45k miles for this type of vehicle. I had no idea. Thought this was done around the same time you get plugs and wires checked. Gonna go out and check the color of the fluid in a minute. Hopefully we're okay. Gonna get it changed here in a week or two.

      You should be fine who ever told you to get it done online is probably trying to push a sale, if you look at your maintenance guide book it tells you 100k although I like to do mines every 60k even tho I only do highway miles

    I just bought a 2014 impala and it has 104k miles on it and I really don’t know if I should change the transmission fluid , I don’t know if the past owners have done it or not but I’ve heard different options of when it’s been so long it’s better not to change it and just let it be and the other of yes definitely change it. So does anyone know the correct answer because it has that much miles

    • @juangomez5012
      @juangomez5012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's good to drain and replace, but you take risk when you flush it due to the metal shavings that full to the bottom of the tranny. That's what I've heard at least.

    • @kgj7102

      Don’t do it if you don’t have any history of it being done just let it be but make sure you always check your fluid along with your oil.

    Transmission took a shit at 44 thousand miles on my 14 impala. 2 months after the warranty expired. Went to 3 dealerships and none of them would help me get it fixed under warranty. Put a junkyard transmission in it and sold it. I'll never buy another gm. These transmissions are junk and none of them shift right from day 1.
