thanks for the video. When you drain the fluid, you won't get all the fluid out because the torque converter doesn't drain.. Put in the EXACT amount you drained out. There is a special way to check the transmission fluid, so you can't just go by the dip stick. Transmission has to be a certain temp to get a accurate reading on the dipstick. If you run the car for a week or so, then drain and fill again, you will have pretty clean fluid. Lots of mechanics recommend that you don't get a transmission flush, just do the drain and fill.
If it's same trans as Buick Enclave, 6T75, the filter is FRIGGIN INTERNAL can only be accessed by dropping entire transaxle. The swap often sacrifices the bell housing gasket when opening enclosure
6T70 on this transmission does not have a filter- Changing the fluid isn't that big a deal. You do want to make sure it's filled with Dexron VI at operating temp but that's not a real big deal. The 6T70 has a dipstick.
The 6T70 doesn't have a filter in the transmission nor do most other automatic transmissions. What people mistakenly call automatic transmission filters are pickup strainers that keep particles around 110-130 microns from passing through. Anything smaller sails right through.
The side cover on the 6T70, with the fill hole and dipstick, is for service access to the valve body. That's all. It's similar in function to the 4T65E cover on the opposite end from the torque converter that provides access to the control solenoids and valve body. It's not a pan in any traditional sense of that word. Neither one has the valve body on the bottom like longitudinal transmissions. When you pull the 6T70 drain plug any fluid in the transmission will drain out... including the fluid behind that cover. Pull the dipstick out of top of that valve body cover and check if you don't believe me. The 6T70 holds a lot less transmission fluid than earlier units. The torque converter still has several quarts inside but that's the same deal when you drain any automatic transmission

Good know. Appreciate it
5.3 quarts seems to be the sweet spot for drain and fill. Just did it again on my 15 3.6.
Thanks for the info planning on doing it on mine soon!💪🏼
Any time! just trying to help people save some money.
Thank you, you have helped me out a lot!!!
@@r.n.4188 awesome to hear. If it helps one person then I am happy with that.
I appreciate the video.

That’s great - what about the filter?
no filter
i drained out 3 qts and put 4 back in and it dont show on stick 2014 impala
what ever you take out you put back in, and maybe a bit more to top off.
there is no filter to change.
Says to use 6.3 quarts for fluid change
@@kc2hse I don’t have any issues, rule is put back in what you took out and maybe a bit extra to top off.
Do all V6 impalas take the same transmission. I got a 2014 3.6 and need to replace the transmission
It should be the same transmission just make sure on this part is it flex fuel or regular - I have a regular one 3.6 (non flex fuel)
I have to replace my too 2016 torque converter went bad whats wrong with yours?
I have a 2016 chevy Impala lt v6 3.6 flex fuel do I use the same transmission fluid???
@@Georgiarose444 check your owners manual to verify- it should be the same, but double check-
Is there an internal gear filter in a Chevrolet Impala?
I did not encounter any filter. Since I have done this my transmission has been operating smoothly.
There is definitely a filter
@@EazyTheRecon I looked everywhere and didn’t find one-

Appreciate the video. Camera skills could use some work 😂 jk.. Seriously, thanks for this video!
@@JohnFKennedy-sc8sv lol 😆 I was holding it with one hand while trying to show what’s going on.
Was it doing anything mine acting funny shifting hard
No issues as of right now, my transmission is very smooth with shifting.
Change your fluid
Make sure what ever you drain out you put back in and make sure 👍🏽 it is Dexron VI (2016 Impala 3.6) check your owners manual for that info.
The quoted you so much because there is a transmission filter you supposed to change as well
