I have suffered for 30 years. Nobody could tell me what it was. Keep spreading the word.
    I don't tell people not to smoke - BUT - I sure don't anymore.

I struggled with it for over ten years and had no idea about this. Just had the worst bout 4 weeks ago. In the hospital 2 in a week. I lost 16lbs in 4 days.
I’m so glad that the doctors knew about this because I thought that cannabis was a tool to help the nausea and vomiting. Little did I know it was the cause.

Thank you for your testimony. The weed today hit different from the 80’s and 90’s. I swear they putting something else in it; some of it doesn’t smell nature. That said, I’m praying for you and I wish you strength, peace, and healing.

    • @decegrease

it hits different because there's so much more THC in it lmao. like drinking a beer vs taking 3 double shots back to back. now with so many legal states, there's quality shit everywhere now, way less people are buying that $20 zip of brick ass reggie weed that you need to smoke half of it to get a tiny buzz

This is very real! Experiencing it myself. It’s probably under diagnosed because ppl lie to their doctors. I’m 12 days free of weed and I’m NEVER going back. It gets better after 10 days free of weed. It goes from all day sickness to half a day. Still not out of the water but thankful for partial relief.
Hot Showers and HOT peppers/pickles provide some relief. You can also buy Capsaicin cream from over the counter and rub it on the stomach every 2-4 hours as needed. Stay strong people!

I’ve also had horrible diarrhea with this as well. It’s miserable. It helps to know you’re not the only one. Praying for all of us. God bless.

Hey just stumbled upon this. Changed my diet cut out gluten for 2 years but still had episodes. Driving me to near insanity trying to change my meds and seeing gastros. I realize that this sucks but hell knowing I can go through basically poising my body for 5 years of smoking I know I can go through anything as can you. First time I have read about diarrhea. I would on occasion have throw up episodes. Always thought it was due to alcohol. But 95% of the time diarrhea. God bless you and for sharing your knowledge. Just a week free of the za and I’m feeling so much better and I guess it’s good to save money too. Good luck on the journey in front of you in life!

Girl, I am right there with you. This is the beginning of my second really bad episode and it’s so hard to learn from. My first episode I almost died from. Kidneys were shutting down, heart was irregular, and my body was seizing. The only way to stop getting sick is to stop any form of cannabinoids. It suuuucks so bad but the smoke isn’t worth the risk. People will come at us and say “oh it’s the pesticides.” No tf it’s not. People also believe that because this happens to us we are anti-Jane. Hell no, I love weed, I know it has benefits, that’s why I used it. But though this is a rare disorder, hospitals are seeing this more and more and people need to be aware. There is no need to attack us or disregard our painful and very scary experience because they feel like we are attacking the pro-cannabis community. We aren’t, we are warning about what can happen. Just like anything, too much can lead to some very serious side effects for some.
I see this is from 5 months ago, how are you feeling now? You’re validated.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’ve been seen in my local ER a minimum of 15 times since Easter this year with CHS symptoms. It wasn’t until this last Sunday’s ER visit that a doctor even mentioned CHS. I was in agony, bent over and pacing by the bed. Moaning and crying. He was floored that no one has mentioned it to me. I’ve been through a battery of tests, all come back normal. I had gastric bypass in 2012 so everyone thinks it’s something wrong with that, but endoscopies prove all is well there too! My own PCP has made this even worse because he thinks that I just want painkillers. He’s delayed them, for days, knowing that it was the only way I could even eat. I had gained some weight back from the surgery but then promptly have lost 55lbs since Easter. I’m sure I have some form of PTSD just from how badly my own physician has treated me. I 100% know that feeling of hopelessness. I’ve only smoked for 6 years and I’m 57. The thought of dealing with this for the rest of my life was more than I could deal with and started losing hope. Until now. Thank you so much for sharing. Like you, I want to help others. I never felt so alone and close to death as I have with this. It has changed me. I’m even terrified to go to any medical facility now due to how I’ve been mistreated. I know I need counseling for a while. I’ll never touch pot again, and I’ve been “sober” for 5 days now. Praise GOD for the truth being revealed!

I just left the VA emergency room 2 days ago and the nurses said there were 4 of us in there with the same issue. i'm hoping you're better now seeing this video is from a year ago. i literally thought i might die from a heart attack because the pain was SO BAD, SO WRETCHING.....how could anyone's heart handle this type of pain, and I'm pretty f*cking tough too. been hurt in so many ways but CHS is HORRIBLE. The best thing to do is ditch the high potency stuff like carts and wax. i only use flower now and have no issues aslong as i eat before i smoke and dont depend on weed for an apitite. i normally can tell if the syptoms are coming on like bloating, anxitey, nausia after i eat, and cold chills. if you have those symptoms just take a break for a few days depending on your weight because THC binds to fat.

Thank you so much for posting this. I am waiting on an endoscopy currently but I’ve had to stop smoking and it has been very hard for me to not smoke cause that was my lifestyle, my life centered around weed. I don’t think it’s as rare as it is said to be, I think it is just widely misdiagnosed with people not telling their doctors about their smoking habits, no type of testing for it, and the medical communities limited knowledge on weed due to the lack of research we have been able to do.

So glad you were diagnosed and are doing better.
    FYI,
Pregnant women can also experience hyperemesis. Their body has a hard time adjusting to the pregnancy and they experience sever vomiting, unhealthy weight loss, pain and organs starting to shut down. It can be deadly. My daughter suffered from this when she was pregnant. Just sharing in hopes of helping someone.

    • @GeatrizTM
      @GeatrizTM 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Exactly. This seems highly unlikely to be CAUSED by smoking weed but has been cured by smoking to alleviate the vomiting from pregnancy. This video seems very misleading and highly unlikely when cannabis hasn’t made you sick before.
The body just poops out excess nutrients. Cannabinoids are nothing more than another nutrient. It’s possible to be allergic, but to be randomly allergic is odd too.

Normally my episodes last over a week but this one lasted 5 days but that was enough to wake me up. I lost 20 pounds in 3 DAYS... Please if you go through this consider your intake of weed, I believed it helped me in many facets of my life but the truth is I end up in the hospital once I begin smoking "how I want to smoke" which is on a daily basis heavily.

Thanks for taking the time to document your experience! So many of us going through something similar with CHS. Similar to you, I started smoking weed around 17/18…
It’s taken me almost 23 years to find out what the hell is wrong with my and what’s been causing it all along. I can’t even recall the amount of times I’ve been in and out of the ER over the years. I have seen so many doctors with no avail. I got out of the ER yesterday morning. While I was there, the doctor asked if I smoke marijuana. And I asked why? She said that lately a lot of people that smoke marijuana have started to come to the ER with the same exact symptoms (severe nausea and uncontrollable vomiting); but it’s more than that. It’s draining on all levels, mentally, physically, spiritually. I too have decided to give up one of the things that I enjoyed the most in life.

Ive never heard someone talk about this. I felt so alone and like maybe the doctor was lying to me or judging me based on me telling them the truth about me smoking weed. The pain is unbreable. I had another episode less than a week ago and I seriously thought i was going to die. I basically passed out after throwing up for 3 hours straight and filling up half a trashbag . Quitting is very hard. I have cptsd and i use weed to cope with anxiety and depression also. They say it isnt addicting but it very well can be an emotional addiction. Thank you so much for sharing my story. Ive been smoking for about 8 years now daily, like no less than 5-6 blunts/woods a day and i havent heard anyone be honest about this battle. When i experinced it for the first time it felt unreal and like my body was betraying me. So proud of you for finally quitting 👏🏾 i know how hard it is and i have so much respect for you for it knowing it was hurting you. Im having a hard time doing thay for myself ❤ thank you

I was diagnosed 6 days ago. Gone through really bad times and nearly died. Quit cannabis now for 8 days and feeling betterish. I am still fighting with food now and then. Not being sick or dry wreching anymore but I have lost so much weight. Stomach has bloated because of not eating. I would stop eating for 4 to 5 days thinking it was a food intolerance. Eventually 2 years later I called the doctor and I was rushed into hospital. They gave me a drip and lots of medicines to try and pick me up. My kidneys have been affected with dehydration but I will get there eventually. Your doing a marvellous job posting about this disease. I am still sweating alot and shaking now and then but I am slowly getting better. Please you guys if you have any of those symptoms just STOP SMOKING WEED! I am able to think better, communicate with others more. Appetite slowly picking up but it's gonna take time for me to recover. Just making music keeping myself busy. Your looking fabs so keep up the great work and stay healthy

I’m glad you are sharing your story. I see this all the time in the hospital with young people, especially those whose parents and family smoke everyday with them. One patient had burns on her body from taking so many hot showers. She was up to 20+ showers a day. Blessings to you! ❤

It is from hypersaturation of the cannabinoid receptors. Chronic, heavy use can cause this in certain individuals, including myself. It is terrible to go through, to me it's worse than the stomach flu.

Thank you for popping up in my youtube feed. I’m 63 and have smoked since 16. Obviously, the weed is a lot different than the rag weed from the past. I’ve suffered with this a couple of different times in my life. Last time was 2020-23. I needed to hear this. I teach hot yoga and am in a heated environment 4 days a week. I really feel like that has been a saving grace in many ways. I’ve decided to taper off reef. Yes it’s addicting, of course it is but MaryJane has been my best friend and it’s time to part ways. I hope you are feeling healthy and happy once again. Take care. 🙏🏼

I developed CHS after about a year of daily use. I have never used illegal drugs or used marijuana recreationally. I obtained my medical marijuana license because I was in a severe car accident and I didn't want to get hooked on opiates for my severe pain. I thought at first maybe it was the carts, so I stopped all THC concentrate use and went to only flower. It took longer for the symptoms to appear, but eventually the stomach pain, nausea and vomiting returned. The anxiety and paranoia were horrific. It was borderline psychosis.

Hey young lady, I will, keep you in my prayers as I begin my my journey. I have had those symptoms off and on for year’s and I just recently (today) decided that I don’t want to stop smoking weed , but I have to if I want to remain on this earth. I am 65 and have been smoking weed since age 16 off and on. And off. Two years ago and because I didn’t tell my doctor I was a weed smoker. So I had my gall bladder removed, and 3 to 6 month later the symptoms returned. So now I will put my embarrassment aside and tell the doctor about my weed addiction

  • @Ahgjlo

I had chs and I did not know I had it. I was smoking weed for 30 years. My chs came about 3 years ago. The first thing that happened was I was smoking a spliff, and halfway through smoking the spliff, I had very bad stomach pains and stomach cramps and I vomited and didn't understand why, so I continued to smoke. 3 months before this happened. I split from my wife and children, so I was already in a bad state of depression, not sleeping, and not eating too much. I continue to smoke after this first bout of vomiting. After this first bout of vomiting, i could not eat food, and my insomnia kicked in very badly. Maybe I'm just eating two spoons of my dinner per day, and maybe 2 to 3 hours of sleep a night. But I continue to smoke. I worked through this whole period doing manual labour, and somehow my body was still functioning, and I felt strong even with lack of sleep and hardly eating food. I was functioning on Coca-Cola, Lucozade, and spliffs. Basically I was ill for 6 months and continue to smoke without knowing the reason for my sickness. 6 months later, I hit a brick wall, and my body started to shut down. I went from 17 and a half stone down to 12 stone in 6 months. I started getting stomach cramps, stomach pain, vomiting from time to time gastro problems, hypnic jokes when trying to sleep. Tinnitus in the ears. Body shaking once I did fall to sleep when I woke up with tremors. Muscle spasms. Muscle stiffness. Muscle pain. Bone pain. Muscle spasms in my back . Found it hard to walk. Numbness down my legs. Vomiting and nausea.Waking up with numbness in my arms and hands. Muscle spasms in my throat every time I lie down to try to sleep. Constipation. Haemorrhoids, I could not urinate properly. The Muscle spasms in my throat when I try to lie down, causing my throat to close, and i could not breathe when I lie down. All this time, i was going to the doctor's and getting nothing back from the doctors. But muscle relaxant tablets which I could not take. And sent me for every check-up you could imagine and found nothing. They did find I had developed a hiatus hernia,. I was told by the dr to sleep sitting up due to the muscle spasms in my throat when I try to lie down to sleep. So I had to sleep sitting up. Has more time went past, the muscle spasms in my throat got so bad that I could not smoke because my throat started to close when standing or sitting. This obviously stopped me from smoking. My anxiety and depression were so bad from missing my kids and all the symptoms from the chs and I was still not diagnosed. I felt like I was dying. My nervous system was in a very bad way. I done researching everywhere and came across CHS. I then took this to the doctor, and they diagnosed me with CHS. I continue to work through this whole period. Looking back, I do not know how I got through. But I think the continuous moving of the body was helping me somehow. I started to eat a little better and slowly slowly I started to put my weight back on. After 1 year when I was able to lie down without my throat going into spasms I started to sleep a little better slowly slowly. It's been 2 and a 1/2 years since stopping smoking. After 1 year, I was still in a very bad way, with many symptoms still remaining. Through this whole period, having hot baths with Epsom salts was helping me a great deal. Putting warm olive oil all over my muscles was also helping. Drinking bone broth also helped a lot. After 2 years, my haemorrhoids started to calm down. I was able to go to the toilet better. Both urinating and pooing. It's been 2 and 1/2 years, and I'm still have tinnitus in the ears and spasms in my back and back pain, but it's nothing like the spasms and back pain I had before. I'm still suffering a little bit with insomnia. And when I wake from sleep, my arms and hands still go numb and numbness down the outside of my right leg. The biggest help I have found in my healing period was through cranial therapy. When I start to feel quite good, sometime I would try to drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. Drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes seems to bring back some symptoms. I tried to drink sometimes to test my body. But then I realised I could not drink. Same with smoking cigarettes. Some symptoms start to come back. I have come to the realisation that I can not drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. And obviously cannot smoke cannabis for the rest of my life. Even standing next to someone who is smoking a spliff affects me. I was always a very fit and strong individual and felt invincible. But this whole experience has humbled me. Please look after yourself and your health mentally and physically. The one good thing I can see about CHS is that if you stop smoking weed and live a healthy life it can go away. As I said I still have some symptoms. But I feel like if I look after myself hopefully I pray to God that all my symptoms will eventually go away. it is possible that there is damage done that cannot be repaired from but I am very thankful and go forward with a positive mindframe. It is very good to see that there is information out there for people to find. It did not occur to me to go on TH-cam and type in chs back then. But even the videos on TH-cam here do not talk about half my symptoms. I obviously took chs to the Brim. And maybe I'm very lucky. But it is very good to see there is information out there and people are learning more and more everyday about CHS. If you feel you have CHS the beginner of CHS or you feel you have had it for a while please stop smoking now. Go and seek help. As I said the best thing that I found helped me was cranial therapy and God. God bless you all out there, peace 🙏

I know I know I know . I suffer from the same condition . At first I didn’t believe it because I thought marijuana helped . But this last bout I spent 14 days in the VA hospital. Then spent 10 days in acute rehab unit because the vomiting completely drained me that I was so weak I wasn’t able to walk . But it hit home for me thst this is real once the doctor told me I have been admitted 8 times in the last year for the same thing CHS, like I said earlier I didn’t believe it because . The vomiting, having to sit in the shower for hours at a time , not being able to walk . As soon as I would open my eyes in the morning the nausea would kick in , then the profuse vomiting . So I feel you , and I thank you for getting the word out . Friends and family member who I would smoke with convinced me that Marijuana wasn’t the problem , but I was in denial . Weed is generally harmless, but you just can't go smoking anything. No one has ever died from smoking weed, it's a plant that comes out of the dirt. But people add chemicals and if they are not properly flushed you are smoking those chemicals too. And if you are rolling traditional blunts you are smoking tobacco too. Leave your friends alone! lol If they have an issue with weed then it's up to them to investigate. If they are not having an issue then who are you to tell them what to do. Are you going to tell Rastafarians to stop smoking weed too? I think if something is causing you pain you need to take a step back and find out why, unless you like pain. My two cents.

Thanks... fascinating. Sorry about you getting landed with it. I hope never to form it, but I'm more aware now about giving myself a break. I did get "saturated" a bit and felt nauseous a couple days and when weed exaggerated it greatly, it seemed it was the weed. I threw up twice and instinctively showered for relief like 3 times. In my case my system kind of caught up and started tolerating more, but if it did not, that nausea and illness amplified could have turned into that, it seems. And while my body adjusted, this time, I won't bet the farm it always will. I did feel like I was "full up with cannabinoids until it reached toxicity" and my body wanted to get rid of it, confused into vomiting and crapping and showering. Thanks! I will never ignore the possibility and keep smoking now that you taught me this.

I had this yesterday and didn’t even know. I believe this video is a message for me. I’ve been this way for years and being a big smoker I’ve had my breaks in the past. I had cancer so it helped me a lot, now I’m thinking I’ve had this too in the past. I use to dry heave and be sick and my family use to think I was a drunk, God send me this video to make a change.
