One thing I wish all reviewers would mention when judging seats, seating position, legroom, etc - is how tall they are and if they have long legs/short torso or variants of that. I'm 6' 2" tall and have long legs which means most vehicles don't have enough leg room for me and I have a harder time than most people getting my legs in and out of the vehicle. On the other hand you might have someone 5' tall who has trouble seeing over the dash when driving/parking, same for getting in and out the large EV9. When Kyle and his father sat in the driver's seat of his dad's Ioniq 5 Kyle said he had trouble with the steering wheel blocking his view of the dash while his taller father had no trouble with it. So, I think if you really want to do in-depth reviews of a car I'm sure many viewers would like it if you gathered from your group of friends and family, even someone off the street, someone as big as Kyle's dad and someone 5' tall or close to it. Make mention if they have long legs or longer torso or are average build type. It's a major reason people might choose one vehicle over another.
33:45 Jordan i agree, I have a kia forte and while i love tesla autopilot the ability to use only steering assist in traffic jams is amazing. I can pay more attention to traffic in my mirrors slowing down than doing so much small adjustment staying in my lane. But i find that i can modulate engine braking in traffic better than Traffic jam assist which likes to accelerate and brake hard over and over. Gets me honked at 😂
On my Taycan, i leave the sport sound on bc I like it. It sounds funnily futuristic and i like to have the audio feedback to the throttle to give me a sense of speed. We are looking at the EV9 for my wife later this year and I highly doubt she’d even touch that feature, but I probably would when i would drive it.
Lane centering without adaptive cruise control is good when you need to adjust controls, navigation, phone (yes, you aren’t supposed to be looking at your phone while driving), changing glasses to say sun glasses, grabbing something (coffee, drink), etc. That’s what I use it for as a quick aid.
You aren't supposed to use Lane keep in that situation. I doubt Fsd would work in this situation. Undulating road with tight turns would confuse vision based systems that track road markings.
At least Autopilot will beep loudly if it disengages like that. I hate how some other level 2 systems just give up with no feedback to the driver telling them to immediately take over.
Can you guys do a comparison of the EV9 vs a R1S? I know they’re on different price points but as the available 3-row EV SUVs I’m really curious on how they compare.
External fake electronic noises have a good use: when creeping around silently in a parking lot looking to park or leave, it alerts idiots walking around the same parking lot with their faces buried in their iPhones not realizing an EV is right behind them or can get hit by a car they don't hear, I use my electric sport sound on my Taycan for that exact purpose, not to show off. This is something a lot of EV reviewers never really discuss or explore when it comes to fake electronic sounds
U clearly are not the target market for this car, families with kids are… 1. U don’t want ur kids to be messing with the sunroof cover, they intentionally put that only up front! 2. The rear seats are not made for 6’ tall adults but kids This car is a minivan in function, disguised as an suv. Oh and the r1s legroom is even worse, you really failed to provide context on that point. I agree it’s slightly different market buyer than r1s but it is similar comparison for only 7 passenger BE SUV.
Out Of Spec does great EV reviews, but as more models such as the EV9 are released for families, I feel like their viewpoints on family friendly features are completely overlooked or derided.
@@steveallwine1443 I agree, love Out of Spec, but it’s obvious no one on their staff has a big family (other than some that claim dogs as kids); perspective of large families matters when it comes to reviewing 7 passenger large vehicles in America. Note: The rear seats are collapsable by controls on each outer side of the seat. The red pulls are for rear seat passengers only. You would not pull the red strap while standing outside of the vehicle as done in this video. Not sure if the host undestood that or is familar with most manual automobile seat functions.
ghostmiata is back anyway, I think EV9 is great. The word luxury is usually attached to a "brand". Even if the Range Rover is "luxury" brand, its a crap expensive vehicles. Lets look at all these EV9 features, heated steering, heated seats from front to 2nd row passengers, power seats on 4 , memory seats, 360 panoramic blind spot, HDA2 active cruise control, all these safety features you mostly get from 100k cars, remote parking assist, ambient lights, fingerprint profiler, digital keys, etc. etc. Those are luxury features that are mostly add ons on top of the 100k cars and most of these are standards on mid to high trims. You are getting premium/lux level to a great price. Add to the Kia makes very unique cars that's nothing like on the road. Unlike some cars that looks the same.
Part 2 of your Kia EV9 adventure is a must-watch. Jordan's comprehensive experience adds a personal touch to the drive. We sent you an email, please take a look.
26:40 as a parent of 4 kids I currently have a 3 row ICE suv and a minivan. I do think that I would consider an EV for our next vehicle, but it would need to be comparable in size and comfort to my ICE vehicles. The options for 3 row EVs right now kind of suck. Either it is super tiny seats- Model Y, or like $100k and that is about twice as much as I would want to ever pay for a car.
Since your channel loves to do tests on cars I have a suggestion for a test (if you haven't already done one and I missed it somehow, I'm somewhat new to the channel). For vehicles like this Kia where you have a tire fix kit I'd like to see a comparison of how long and how easy it is to fix a flast using the kit vs changing a tire. I'll even make it easy and say you can do it in a parking lot and not on sand, mud, on a slope, or in the rain, cold or heat.
I don't know what shenanigans you guys are trying to pull, but I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and i have way more room than that in the 2nd row with my seet adjusted for me in front. I will say when we test drove the car the seats were slammed to the floor like a Toyota Tacoma or sports car. You can however raise them up to truck or Tahoe hight and then you dont need it so far back and the leg rests become usable.
I would love that EV9 vs equally priced Telluride comparison. I think it would do good views (and you could give it a nice click bait title too like are EVs worth the extra money?). Huracan may actually have lower drag at the same speed for having a much smaller frontal area. Cd is about the shape vs a droplet or brick, not the size.
Thank you. A Cd figure is meaningless without the frontal area. I really wish reviewers would mention this whenever they quote a Cd figure; I appreciate that manufacturers don't provide the additional data and only quote the Cd, but the qualification should be noted. It's like saying Car X is faster than Car Y because it has more power, without knowing how much the vehicle weighs.
KIA or someone should have the F-150 super mega fronk on an SUV. This would give a ton of extra cargo space in 3rd row vehicles. Maybe Ford will do it in their new SUV electric.
Interesting vehicle, however at the asking price and currently without incentives, I think these will be slow movers. Also, nothing against you young guys reviewing this SUV, but I think it would be very helpful to have people (target customers, particularly the soccer mom/dads/families) drive these vehicles and provide their feedback. They want to know very practical things like how do car seats or booster seats fit along side each other. People that buy SUV's are typically growing families with multiple children, and very active lifestyles. This is why vehicles like the Ford Explorer and Kia Telluride are so popular. Growing families need these things to haul the carpool to school, driving back and forth to sports practices, etc. More active families will use them to haul the boat to the lake, haul a motorcycle trailer or even tow a travel trailer. For this price range, much like the electric trucks, when you really use and SUV to haul a full load of passengers/cargo over longer distances, the range become abysmal thereby diminishing the real utility of these vehicles. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to bash EV SUV/Trucks, but at this price, it makes more sense to purchase larger more rugged ICE vehicle like an Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban. Just my .02. Keep up the great work!
It’s not very interesting that they aren’t selling them all; EV demand is tanking in favor of hybrids, especially for legacy manufacturers. The Teslas and Rivians of the world still have decent demand, as well as luxury automakers like BMW, Benz, and even Cadillac to a certain extent. Kia is dealing with a very steep uphill climb with this car; and increasing incentives are imminent. Be patient, but not that patient, 2-3 months max these cars will be 10-15k off sticker price….
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I would like to know how the EV 9 and similar vehicles handle with 3 or 4 kids riding as passengers. Actual kids might be problematic. I don't know if there are 90 pound dummies that could be used. I saw one test drive video where the driver claimed that the suspension felt sluggish or a little strange in turns. This was with a single driver, so it made me wonder how it might feel with more passengers.
Wireless charging is the only way to go. I can't tell you how many times I've damaged a $1200+ phone's charging port plugging and unplugging it in several times a day for a couple years.
I could tell immediately how this review was going to go when he said this isnt fast. Imagine having a 3 row Kia suv that does 0-60 in the mid 4s and saying that. Im thankful this channel has compared this vehicle to the Rivian and has used people who actually have kids. This review was totally out of touch. I know he has a Rivian and he seemed so uninterested in the Kia. Even when he mentioned the croas shopping that people are doing he failed to mention that the Kia is considerably more family friendly and has WAY more room. The Kia is also a much quieter ride then the Rivian. Rivian interior is much nicer in terms of materials to be fair. A barely used R1S has fallen on its face in price so that is why people are cross shopping them. It was just very clear there was a slight nose in the air approach by this Rivian owner who doesn't have kids. As a family vehicle, the Kia slaps the Rivian. This dude should probably take a back seat on reviewing on this channel. Not his forte
I went and test drove the EV6 and it felt like a toy. And they were trying to charge over $50,000 for it. It was not a luxury car at all. So all in all I couldn't see myself in a Kia. If I cannot get at least 250 mi wow driving on the freeway with my air conditioner on, it's not worth the investment. Those range calculations are nowhere near what you will actually get.
Insurance doesn't work that way, It's only the older generations that have the issues, not the brand as whole. I picked up a 2023 EV6 GT recently and insurance was way cheaper than my other cars which was crazy because it's practically a super car.
What is really ignored here is that you really can not get a combination with all of its highlits in any other car. A proper sized car with towing capacity, reasonable price all V2L functionality standard and optional kit with an amazing predicted relaibility/stress free life because of warranty. And you cant ignore the solid design. One push into the EQS dash and hearing those squeaks and rattly plastic erases all the elegance. EV9 feels like a more solid build of course lacking that "old money elegance" which is propably not what they even aimed for.
One thing I wish all reviewers would mention when judging seats, seating position, legroom, etc - is how tall they are and if they have long legs/short torso or variants of that. Doug D’s Review addressss your question. I think he’s 6’2” +
He seems to be well over six ft. Not supposed to fit behind himself in this car. Doesn't mention that.
Totally agree. 6’6” same height as my brother in law who has longer legs! I can say the EV9 was plenty of space for me
Hey Jordan, excellent job on laying down in the back. Very important for my road trips.
More automakers should allow the steering assist to be on independent of the adaptive cruise!

Beautifull modern looking family EV car!
Please ask Kia why they don’t offer 2nd row bench seats on the higher trims in North America as they do offer it in all the other markets.
Their official response was “we are listening to our customers and we are open to making changes if enough interest is there”
36:25 omg that's such a hazard. Not even an audible warning... Crazy!

I see a lot of Taxi drivers and other service drivers going for these
BMW EQS?? 😅
Honda Odyssey Elite is $50k
This actually looks pretty damn good except that I would never buy it.
Failing 12 volt battery failures are already being reported. KIA has to get that ironed out already.
Great car but let down by a critical flaw. That 12V is death.
36:26 I'm all for cool tech but that's little crazy...
Lucky for you this car got 250+ miles driving at 70 in frigid temp
Why are car makers so frightened to call an MPV/ People Mover a Minivan and persist in calling a van an SUV?
The minivan term is not sexy to it's buyers.
More EV9 content. No more CT (not a real truck) please.
Can’t you just tell Alexa to adjust the climate?
RIP the EV market for a few years, at least.
Too bad no FSD. Looks neat.
Neither does Tesla, so what's your point.
@@sprockkets tesla no fsd ok thanks
I subscribed just to see ALYSSA ❤
seat takes a few seconds to move up: "it takes forever"
🙄
If it is an SUV, can we see it on some dirt roads doing SUV things?
👍🌟👍
Ioniq Ioniq guy said the 12v batteries are dying quick.
12v batteries are dying in a lot of EVs.
Too expensive and its infotainment system is horrible along with the lack of Tesla Superchargers integration is a deal breaker.
Not enough range.
Kia boys have made the Kia the most stolen vehicle in Chicago. Good luck with your insurance rates on certain models. Kia has a reputation to overcome
Insurance doesn't work that way, It's only the older generations that have the issues, not the brand as whole. I picked up a 2023 EV6 GT recently and insurance was way cheaper than my other cars which was crazy because it's practically a super car.
Next time don’t Speed . 65 in a 30 and 35.
That autopilot abrupt shutoff is crazy. I wouldn't put my kids in that thing.
Try fsd on that road, it will fail too. The undulations makes the camera lose track of the lines.
No driver required. Or a Driving Licence that is suspended Substandard As the UK Driving Licence Far right fascism Specified to Gul Fraz Majeed
