#Kia #EV9 - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Loving the way this video was put together, great content Tommy! Thanks for having us tag along. We definitely agree with you, square looks good, except for the Nissan Cube 😅
Whoa! I had your review on my next tab after this video!!!!
The REAL Question to EV Owner ? How long do you plan on Keeping Em ? 2-6 yrs ? 99% will Sell Em to some poor sucker with a Near its End Battery Life and THEY Truely have NO Plans on REPLACING the $20,000 $60,000 Battery != BAD for the Planet
Great to see you along for the ride! I just watched your review of this car earlier today!
They're selling in California right now, GT line fully loaded for $68k, that's a great deal.
Hilarious. On no planet is 68k for a Kia a “great deal”
@@doomsday9973 you are stuck in the past. Sure older Kia's were steaming piles of poopy, but the Kia/Hyundai of today is legitimately rated number 3 for reliability across all brands. that being said, 68k for any car is not a good deal.
@@jerkistan never said Kia is a bad brand or any think like the Kia of the 90s (quite the contrary) just that 68k is insane for a Kia even today. I can get an X5 for that!
It looks like a jumbo Kia Soul and I will die on that hill (and I am one of the few people who appreciates the Soul).
Another great design by Kia! Its definitely a head turner, great tech, and the interior looks better than anything you would find under 80K. Most definitely punching above its weight class!!!!
Was the Kia dealer in Gaithersburg or Laurel MD?
When you quote the price of the EV9, or any legacy vehicle, you have to keep in mind that those prices are BEFORE going through a dealer and all their addons and markups. Remember, the true price of a vehicle is called the INVOICE price, which is what a dealer pays (roughly 25% below the MSRP). And since autodealer association bought politicians force legacy auto to only sell to dealers, making them nothing more than "flippers", you have to pay the dealers cut.
When you buy a Rivian or a Tesla, the price you see online is the price you pay. Meaning it's the invoice price. No addons, no markups, because there is no middlemen wanting "their cut".
Its been a while since I watched TFL, love the music and the up close shots of the functionality (adhering to "show dont tell"). Also the humor seems to be amped up. And i liked the guest presenter. A+ to all the changes
Lots of great specs, features and it looks great. We will have yo wait and see what the durability of it is but they did a good job addressing the needs. Great video
In minnesota, you can get the EV9 wind for about 60,000 dollars pretty good price
Horrible price. We've been brainwashed into thinking that any car is worth $60K as a good value?
@B9M3 comparing to other 3 row EV or Gas 3 Row SUV pricing its great value for the tech ect. Inflation has also been crazy over the last 3 years. In 2019 I bought a Ram 1500 Laramie for 39k and now it's 55k .. if you can find it for 52k you would hear that's a good price. It's the sad reality of the pricing we are at these days.
Very upbeat review. Didn’t get to test drive yet since they are all reserved. Enjoyed the collaboration videos; keeps the reviews fresh.
Another great video. Nicely presented and chock full of pertinent information.
I saw my first other EV9 on the road yesterday and I yelled "yoooo!!!!!" and waved like a maniac.
Apparently Kia is offering $7500 discount for US market vehicles now so it doesn’t qualify for the tax credit but still offers the same feel.
The same feel? 🤣🤣🤣
@@jimjones-pz1tt Like one is saving some money!
Great review. The snark was strong, which I approve of and encourage. Thanks for talking about the cargo capacity w/3rd row up and down. Excellent work!
Excellent video and great Sofyan cameo! Very funny and entertaining and insightful. I own an R1S Rivian and I’d say these are similar sized but aimed at different markets. The Riv is more premium maybe. It’s faster which isn’t all that useful. It does have more range at top spec which does matter. It is also more off road capable but again only if that matters to you. To drive around, go on road trips, and haul your 4 kids, the EV9 appears to do so more efficiently with more features for $15K less.
I was outside walking my dogs watching this video.
Right as you mentioned the Nissan cube one drove by.
It was a moment
Well, this is definitely a different format than I'm used to seeing from this channel. That's not a bad thing. Production value 👍
Looks like you were testing in Northern California?
Tommy w the professional 2024 production! No goofy unplanned conversation about shoes or bugers just great content. Keep it up Tommy
Except for the Big Mac and the Quarter Pounder, Mr Deaf.
Can you test the range for getting to and from Colorado skiing?
Saw one of these on the road and they look so cool in person
I just took delivery of my EV9 gt line i bought it online for 71800$ from a kia dealer in Maryland so they are being sold below msrp you just have to shop around 😊
Rofl this guys car dealer is eating good tonight.
@@tyronelegstrongiv2206don’t be a dick
How do you like it? What’s your efficiency like?
LMAO!
Hahahaha the dealer probably said “you got a GREAT deal out of us” and this guy ate it up
The editing was tremendous and the jokes top notch. Tommy. Let’s go bud.
I can tell the differences in editing for this vid than usual and I think it’s very good! Just be careful with choice of and use of background music lol. Sometimes can be a bit much.
The collab we didn't know we needed, but the one we wanted.
This is going to eat into the sales of RIVIAN R1S of those that want a SUV 3 row option. But don’t care about air suspension adjustable height for off road use.
yeah, if you're OK with ground clearance of only 7.8" too for the EV9; which I assume most would be fine with in this market (they aren't looking to go offroad for the most part).
waiting for more in-the-snow reviews for the AWD model.
@@petehelme7714 yup, the people that do not care about ground clearance at a 57k starting price. Yes
The kia will outsell the R1S as the rivian only sells in the united states of ameica
Interesting style on this tfl video
So after optioning it with what you actually want, just by the Rivian R1S
Good, comprehensive review. I'm curious to know how driving feels with a full passenger load. I see this as potentially a great vehicle for families.
Any news about upcoming GT version of EV9?
When you get all wheel drive, do you have to get the bigger battery? If so, that price increase makes sense. If not, they are way overcharging to add a motor and some wiring.
It is the bigger battery.
@@gregkramer5588 then that pricing really isn't that bad
It's not the way it looks - it's the fact that the boxy design gives it more SPACE. 🕺
are you at a cali winery?
I think dealers will make or break this one. If its anything like trying to buy a Telluride they won't actually stock the lower trim model, but it'll stay "sold" in inventory to get people in. If they only have top trims, then the Rivian R1S just makes more sense, not much more for higher range, more offroadability, and more cargo space.
True, but it boils down to dealer experience and service, repair costs. I'd assume the Kia beats the Rivian by a longshot in those areas.
@@MadLadsAnonymous services and repairs probably beat out Rivian since they're not scaled out yet, but every time I've been to a Kia dealership its been terrible; sales people not knowing vehicles, trying to upsell, huge markups, etc
Getting closer to what I want, probably not interested in a high option level. My ranges are short, and I don’t need/want heated seats etc. (Hawaii)
Great video I like this EV
Shared similar thoughts like you had at the end of the video with Kia on X(Twitter) and they Blocked me. I was one of the biggest fans of this EV, but since they can’t take constructive criticism I’ll never buy their brand. Too much money for so little range, and no Tax credit.
I'd love to see an honest comparison between a comparably equipped EV9 and Telluride. Putting aside any arguments about the environment, which is the better purchase?
My wife and I really like the idea of the EV9 and went to a local dealer and checked it out and liked it in person. But comparing the EV9 to a telluride makes it a tough sell when you account for the $15k or so price premium. It would take quite a few years for the cost to even out based on home charging and lack of oil changes, etc. So is the EV9 inherently nicer/better as a vehicle?
Yeah, a real in depth side by side comparison showing what features are included in the EV9 vs Telluride and how the trims compare.
You’re in Napa! I recognized that plaza and scenery immediately. I used to live right around that corner.
Nice looking vehicle
Smart Alec-y review!
Enjoyable video. The EV9 looks like a giant LEGO model. Maybe the kids of the parents who are considering one will love the styling. It's $20K more than a comparable Telluride at every step of the way, from even the base trim all the way up to the loaded trim. I'm just not sure what the folks at Kia were thinking on this one. And I'm not sure who's going to buy it either, even if they want a big, three row SUV that's an EV. Oh well, maybe they'll have some good lease deals so you can rent one for a couple of years....
Absolutely gorgeous vehicle. I don't think I can bring myself to pay such a premium over a comparable ICE vehicle though.
These are tempting, looking for a 3 row ev for my wife but the price for a well optioned one is so close to the Rivian, which I think has some serious advantages. Kia interior looks really nice though. Where it seems to lack is the trunk space, frunk space, power and a little on range.
I looked at both, the Rivian just has so many advantages it made my decision easy.
@@paulbram2which did you choose? This is partially my dilemma as well.
@@GenieFarms Rivian. Best car I've ever owned.
@@paulbram2 do you have the R1S?
@@GenieFarms yes
This is great
I’m glad you emphasized the price. My experience with Hyundai and Kia dealers is that they will have 1 base trim that’s alsways “sold”. They advertise that one. When you get to the dealer it’s constant upselling. No thanks. I’m going for an $80k Tesla before I step into another Hyundai dealership.
I wanted to love this car. I have an R1S on order but I was let down by the range on the well spec'd model.
No doubt there are some that need to drive a long ways regularly! I am glad it is not me!
I'm sitting on my R1S reservation now (made it a year ago). for me, it's just not as enticing as it was back then. :/ (currently drive a Land Rover D5)
Starting price of over 50k and 215HP. That's attractive pricing for a 3 row suv?
Isn't it? What do the other 3 row EVs start at?
Don’t know the price but they ain’t 201 HP.
@@gregkramer5588 Check out Edmunds Best 3-Row SUVs of 2024 and 2025. You will have to Google search. Many starting in the low 30's
What happened to the Lucid Gravity. Guess its not coming out or is Lucid going out of business?
the eagle @ 2:15 😂
Tommy Boy! Great job!
Thanks!
Something that I suggest that you include on your EV testing, is to test that the brake lights active when you use one pedal driving. I’ve seen other videos where people demonstrated that the car they were driving does not active the brake lights during one pedal driving. That is a safety issue as far as I’m concerned.
That was just a mistake on the ioniq5. Previous evs from them didn't have that issue.
You mentioned the R1S but what about the Lucid Gravity?
That and the ID Buzz aren’t available yet!
It will be interesting to do a heads up comparison when the production Gravity exists.
The Gravity 80k spec is RWD and smaller. And vapor at this time
Loved the Nissan cube! That’d be a perfect electric car, if they brought it back 😂
Cause battery tech is like a skateboard they could make a cube with infinite space configurations I’d take a mini camper one with some sort of true bedding n swivel seats fold away table
Does brake torquing help in an ev?
EVs have full torque from 0 rpm so doesn't help.
@@lfsracer79 that’s what I thought
LOL, how did miss the Kia Soul for "square" vehicles (well Gen 1 and Gen 2 more so).
Love mine
Cheers guys I like it
I love the jaguar I pace because you don’t see them on the road and look newer because it’s different 🥰🥰🥰
nice car, sad that Jaguar and Magna are likely to let that platform die when Jag introduces their own EVs. :(
@@petehelme7714 so Jaguar, and magna partner on that vehicle?
@Kimbrough87 Yes. Indications are JLR is building their own EV platforms for Jaguar and Land Rover/Range Rover, starting in the 2025 model year.
If you can wait - I would wait for the Lucid Gravity- that EV is a game changer- better in every way!
You forgot about the Honda Toaster, I mean "Element".
Might replace our aging Honda Pilot w this
7:55 manufacturers, if you are going to do that maybe bolt the hood shut and just have a slide out drawer cubby from the sides or front.
Nice colour
Can’t wait for tfl to take it off-road.
The Nissan Cube was a proper cube - until it got left out in the sun too long and started melting.
Funny thing. Tesla model Y has on paper more cargo space than EV9. It might actually be a more practical family car, if you don't have a massive family.
$54,900 they're almost giving them away at that price. I will buy two
I want to love it but a 280 mile range is realistically 250. Then if you want to increase battery life, you keep the charge between 20-80%, so it’s really a 150 mile range. Looking forward to the day when they advertise a 650 mile range or have batteries than can run 0-100% without damage
brake torque?
Lol ya, you can't brake torque and ev lol
This has made me laugh so much! and right off the bat xD
Of course you will find an abundance of crossover EVs in a Whole Foods parking lot; if you survey a monster truck show parking lot, you will think manufacturers are only making lifted pickup trucks.
A better starting point is a Walmart parking lot, or coffee shop drive thru.
This vs r1S is kinda crazy
because the model y is is efficient and has the best price for awd and 300+ miles of range at 39k after tax credit. thats why.
Lol good luck finding these in the $50,000 price range. I’ve checked across multiple states and the cheapest I can find it is around the $70,000 mark.
There is a good reason there are model y's everywhere.
It's got the steering wheel that the Cybertruck should have.
It won't ever be $79k at the dealerships, they''ll mark up, so figure $82-85k, for a Kia. Nah. Great video guys. I wonder when folks will realize, that EV cars just aren't there yet. I wish manufacturers would pefect the technology, of batteries and such, versus force this stuff down our throats. I guess i'll be an ICEman for life. Great job guys.
Kia is clever to base the styling after the already successful Kia Telluride.
I feel like a lot of these "three row" EVs are just checking a box to say they have a third row. To me, if it's not functional, I don't see the point. That goes for the Model X and especially the Model Y third rows, too.
I got mach E and soooo happy indidnt get model Y. No regrets. Been super reliable, looks super good and its not as common. The quality is unreal!
Sure is few teslas in the USA. Here in norway every second car would be a model Y :)
New vehicle has entered the arena.
Maybe they meant on the dedicated EV platform. The others shared with gasoline.
what dos the battery cost to replace? $40k+?
Why worry about that, if you get in an accident that bad I would worry about my health instead!
Where did the car accident statement come from? I don’t think that statement makes any sense in the context of this initial comment 🤦
It's a good thing batteries last longer than the vehicle itself.
Next stupid question.
@@DadDrums1015Why would he be replacing the battery? Is not an accident the most likely reason?
So these EV cars only last for 10 years? Pretty sad if they don’t last longer than the batteries.
If it had NACS port then it would be worth it.
It's nothing to do with NACS, it's the chargers, they are not well made. I sell and maintain chargers, since the ecosystem is broken, the challenges continue. Tesla, owns entire charging infrastructure and chargers.
@@jaithak7267 the issue is CCS chargers are poorly maintained
Agree, I'm glad to see all these new EVs coming out, but i'm not remotely interested in them until they support NACS, buying an already obsolete, dead connector is a horrible idea.
Who cares. You can get an adapter.
@@sprockkets not true actually. The car has to be recognized and talk to the charger. That all the stuff that happens before it releases the electricity.
Blame your federal government for that lack of a tax credit.
Photo of it towing a boat. Would you launch a boat with it?
I LOVE SQUARE AND CHONKY
HONDA ELEMENT! I'll never be able to get one but love it, it's split tailgate, and suicide doors, and (mostly) washable interior. Drove one a long time ago for courier work and loved it.
I also had a 2005 Honda Element, owned it for 10 years and loved how practical it was! Honda should bring an updated EV version of it! My dad loved mine and bought the 2011 and loved it as well. We have the 2022 Kia EV6 GT-line and really enjoy it, only wish it was taller like the EV9, considering trading it in.
For anyone curious about actual range let me give you a real world idea. My Tesla model Y has a 310 mile range. You can charge it to 90% but after a while it gives a warning to only charge to 80%. So that’s 248.
After owning it for a year an 80% charge is now 240. Real world driving I get maybe 75% of that. Much worse if up or downhill often. So realistically, a 310 mile range equals about 160-180 usable miles daily. It’s not great.
In 4 years when I can get a used one for $30k I will consider it based on reviews at the time. I do not trust KIA battery packs yet!
If I wanted to find some Tesla Model Y’s. My first stop would definitely be Whole Foods
Great video. Thanks to Hyundai, i expect Kia to be around and in the car business in 4 years. Rivian, maybe, and Tesla will be selling us robots or helicopters or something... (j/k). I like the truck that looks like a truck, for under 70k.
I was literally looking at ev9 offers today. I am getting cybertruck and the plan is for my wife to keep the MYP. But trading for the EV9 may be the play. Just for the size
I’m very disappointed the nice features from the Korean version did not make it in the US version.
You can get the $7500 tax credit using the lease rather than buying.
It doesn't have those little triangle windows up front like the "Real" square shaped cars used to.
Disappointed that it isn't available with NACS charging.
