Almost took my fobs to the dealership with my own supplied battery replacements; however, I no longer need to due to the helpfulness of your/this video. I successfully changed my own key fob batteries. It seems that they need to be changed once a year. Thank you for making this video, and that you made it so detailed and simplistic.
Very helpful. 2032 batters are the most popular so it pay to have a couple around the house somewhere. My fob stopped working to open and lock my door after 2 years. I watched this video and it was up and running in a few minutes. Thanks Gurpreet!
Dealers always rip people off. That's the car world period. But yet people haggle me for prices for maintaining their property for a fair price, like I'm ripping them off, smh.
Thanks for the video. I replaced the batteries and everything works except when I want to power start it with the key fob it will turn onand then turn off in like 5 seconds…do you know why that would be?
Ha ha! Love it! God Damn It! Not the most eloquent video but it’s about what 99% of people trying to replace their battery do and say I guarantee it! Thanks for sharing 🤣🤣
I would suggest using a small flat-head screwdriver to open the fob instead of the key. Any Jeep owners out there, don't freak out if the key doesn't work. my particular key fob the key was just too big and awkward to properly turn it to pry it open. With a screwdriver it popped open in seconds.
Thanks, partner...loved the ‘Goddammit’ exactly what I would have said. The corners are sometimes hard to pop back together. ..just cheap I’ll fitting plastic,
Thanx, just bought 2017 cherokee yesterday, very intimidated by keeping track of the key fob. Any idea how long the battery lasts, just off the top of your head since this was 18 months ago? Also when and how would you use the single key you pulled out?
I bought my 2016 challenger at August 2016. I am just changing my battery for the first time. Even though I have 2 key fob and could have just swapped them out as the main. The inner/actual key is for your glove box and if the case your fob (or car) messes up or dies, you can still enter the car
@@eunit08 thanx that is helpful but I don't lock the glove; I don't understand how you can still enter the car if the battery is dead on the remote, or what do you mean if your car messes up or dies, how would you still get in with dead remote? sorry to be so confused just don't get what u r saying. Can you re-phrase it?
@@ooohlaa13 Hi Barbara, I know your post is a yr old but just an FYI. If the key fob is dead you can use the key in the door to get into the car and more importantly your fob can be used to start the car even if the battery has been removed. If you take the fob and press it against your starter button your car will start. Each fob is programmed to your vehicle. Dealership will not share that info with you!!👍🏽
@@schauneille wow, what good timing, this is amazing because just last week I got a message that the fob battery was low, but then it disappeared and didn't come back again and it got me wondering so I will change the relatively new battery I got on ebay. I am so paranoid I take two fobs with me shopping because I am afraid I will not be able to get the car started. So it just won't open the car door from the outside but you are saying it will start the car by holding next to the ignition How does it read the signal? There are some freak times when the car doors lock and my key is inside. I cannot figure out what series of events triggered it but it happened twice and made a bunch of sounds right before. I was thinking of just getting a door key made should this ever happen again I am not paranoid. .

Thanks for taking the time to make a video. It was exactly what I was looking for.
Great video! To the point! No BS. And for the record, a Jeep dealer would charge you around $30 They add an additional $25 calling it a “stupid” fee.
Just One 2032 battery and Two Goddammitts to get it fixed.
bobbrum100 😂
And 1 pack of stolen batteries..
Just needed to know how to open the damn thing. thanks
Thanks for showing us! Very helpful, now I don't have to go to the dealership
Very helpful. I was able to FINALLY get my key fob open by watching this video.
The stuff on the battery when he opened the remote is die electric grease , makes for better contact ...
Ja! Ist is die elektrik grease! ("dielectric")
Thank you! Seriously saves me money! my dealer wanted $26 bucks

I just followed your instructions. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Omg thank you so much !!!! Your the best video of them all !! Saved me a trip to dealer and embarrassment
THanks, Buddy! Saved me a lot of aggrevation!
Mine had gooey stuff too! Thx for this video, using the key to open is a smart little trick.
Mine did too! I think it might be some kind of gel they apply to help with conduction.
Thanks mate, I just replaced the dead battery after see your video!
Thanks! Jeep didn't want to start without a new fob battery.
THANKYOU!!! I've been trying to figure this out for weeks now.
Wow!! So creepy that it comes up in my feed a day after my Jeep Grand Cherokee key fob battery died...didn’t even search abt it anywhere !! Woah
They know everything.
Woah!

Do you recommend paying for the batteries?

I recommend paying first
I thought I saw somewhere that I'd have to reprogram it. Do I need to do that too? And thank you so much for your helpful funny video.

Both of my fobs died in less than 3 years. Oh well at least it’s just a watch battery!
Thank you for this instruction on battery replacement. :)
It is unbelievable to me that the procedure for replacing a battery in the key fob is not included in the Owner's Manual....unless I missed it!
Neither is the gas filler button found in the manual!
It also doesn't tell you, the owner's manual that is, that if the battery goes completely dead, the key fob will not work.
More money for the dealer the less the owner knows.
Thanks for video👍
Anger management highly recommended.
Thanks for video very helpful
