HUGE THANKS to Costel !!!!
For anyone saying, that this does not work, you need to FIRST check the compatibility of your multimedia and THEN extract the files as shown in the video.
In my car it was completely different as a process, but the outcome the same.
Buddy, cannot thank you enough actually !!
Greetings from Germany
Glad it worked mate!
Enjoy your updated unit!!
What was your model unit, and as well what was different perhaps others got the same and unsuccessfully completed!?

As I said the process was different. In the way that I turned the engine on first and at the same moment stuck the USB stick under the Multimedia unit.
Then the multimedia restarted. A few seconds after a grey screen appeared with all the information of the stick.
For at least 20min I did nothing other than wait for the process to end.
In the 20min the multimedia restarted multiple times.
At the end I was asked to turn the engine off and on, so that the software could be installed.
The rest is history 😎

Hi Everyone. I have 17TDT2EU-DA01 JBL system with Navi the car is still under warranty (2019 Corolla) so will it works on my model? I can see in the comments that model is listed but confused does anyone already tried with te sat nav? Do I loose the warranty after that modes? What to do if the system will crash how to backed up to original system then.
Thanks for the video!
Hi there. It will most likely work if the model you have is listed within the description.
Now concerning warranty, not sure what to answer. The firmware is open source from the unit manufacturer, not from Toyota and will only update the Audio Firmware and not the car software.
I did it without even thinking, my car went twice to Toyota service and they haven’t even realized I asume as they never told me anything about it.
I guess you are going to have to risk, or wait until warranty goes away.
Hello friend, thank you so much for your efforts,
a question, dose this package works for Toyota corolla (pioneer) 2020 USA?
I guess you can try and see. But this is a firmware for Denso Fujitsu hardware, therefore I guess the Pioneer unit would not recognize the update file.
Will this work on Uk 2019 Corolla. It’s Panasonic version the update is cheap to get from Toyota dealer but they say your maps is old you must update to latest maps then we can update to activate car play. Is this true ? The map updates are quite expensive. Thanks
hi there. I am not sure about this unit as the firmware is for the Denso/Fujitsu one. You can try and see what is the outcome, like checking if even recognizes the update from your radio settings. it might work, or not. The good thing is that it should not affect your existing configuration as this is just an AUDIO module update. Either way, do it at your one consideration and responsibility.
I'm from Israel, for anyone who has an Israeli car, it works ,God bless you, I did step by step, everything works fast and perfect!!!!!!
Glad it worked mate ! What car model and unit you have?
Rav 4 , And the same media version as appears in the video
I live in Canada will the update be the same for the Toyota RAV4 2019 model in Canada also if is only for European models only.
This is For Eu models only. However I recommend downloading the correct file from Toyota.com, select your model and download from there. In Europe is not for free.
Finally it worked. It take about 40minutes. DA02 Unit. Thanks. 🙏🏻
Glad it helped. What was the issue? And why so long? You mean with fixing the usb as well?

Hi, is there any way to get rid of navigation before installing updates? I'm not using it anyway, and it seems like this is the only thing that could prevent me from succeeding.
No idea mate. Not sure you can do it without Toyota tech intervention.
There are some people that made it with navi as well so might have to give it a try. Fingers crossed
Thank you so much for posting this and offering the advice. I have tried and failed however! Copied the files to a USB as explained. However, when I put the USB into the car, it starts to update the system automatically from what looks like a 'DOS' screen, and not through the toyota infotainment system as you have on your video. Then, all seems to load in absolutely fine. At the very end of the process, I get a red coloured 'error' message and it doesn't work.
Not sure what I did wrong pretty happy I followed all of your steps exactly.
Do I need to delete the files from the USB first which do not relate to my DCU model?
Not necessarily, but you could try mate.
Make sure to let us know!
Info on upgrading the Unit with NAVIGATION:
Hi. Thanks for upload. Installed it according to your instructions and it works. Sometimes I need to "activate" phone for Carunit to recognize AndroidAuto (but usualy detects it on its own). This means I have to touch phone screen or push one of buttons on the phone. I connect through cable. As for people asking regarding Unit with navigation. I installed it on RAV4 Hybrid MY2019 (one of the first of new models in country as it was showroom model) with Touch2Go + NAVI. Therefore I can confirm it works with the unit that is originaly shipped with navigation. After update all maps remained and I can still use "original" navigation if needed. Must say, that I didn't upgrade maps since end of 2022 when initial 3 year subscription expired.

Do you also have NA versions of these files? I have a Toyota where the only difference in the model number is it saying NA instead of EU. Also, are these files any different than the updates you can get from the official Toyota website. My goal with this is to get Android Auto on a 2019 Toyota RAV4 that only comes with Apple CarPlay from the factory and not Android Auto. Will doing this update with your update files add the Android Auto software onto my Toyota?
Hi there mate, unfortunately not. EU spec vehicles came without option for CarPlay until 2021. The current firmware is for those models only.
Im in a similar situation, mine is NA with Apple CarPlay but I have android. Did it work for you when you tried it?
@@yemi0 you need to buy a carlinkit. Only solution I have found
No clue mate. Try extracting the files again, reformat the drive and try the process again. Otherwise no idea and no one here had this issues to tell us what fixed the issue
I initially used a multiple downloader and decompressing of files failed. Don't use multiple downloaders, use only regular download function of your browser. I plugged USB flash and started engine. Whole procedure took about 45 minutes. It restarted some 15-20 times, do not interrupt the process and wait patiently until you see "update complete remove usb flash and restart". The procedure was completed successfully.
Does your car have navigation enabled? To help the others they tried ?
Mine is without, as per the video instructions
Glad that it helped mate! Mine has no navi and both apple carplay and android auto work with cable only. There are few ppl here with navi that they struggled on getting it to pass the “installation failed screen” so if you can share your experience on this it will help a lot.
@@CostelTarata No navigation. Everything goes fine, no error messages. Some parts of update maybe more than one times but that was every time different things I think. For built in navigation necessary additional antenna module. Your software link exactly for no built in navigation cars.

Has someone tested this on a 2019 Corolla Hatchback with navigation?
Hi there mate. Some tried and got it working, while some didn’t. I guess it will be trial and error.
Where is the difference between the navigation / non navigation Units and what happend if it’s failed? Is my whole system then ruined?
It should not affect your system. The firmware is designed to update your audio module only. For all those that failed nothing changed apparently. Either way, you can try and see, only if you want. In the video I do it on my car without any navigation enabled. My unit has Navi, just is not enabled from factory
It worked for me too, but make sure that the phone is set when you connect the usb cable to Android auto mode. Many thanks!

Do the flash drive again, as long as your car model is accepted (check description in the video) and the update is confirmed (found update in the software update menu) it should work.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. same model and part number. have You done it?
Can i just leave the file on a laptop and plug it into the car to do the update ? i dont have a USB drive handy
the process of how USB firmware update works is not as simple as how a laptop will allow it. so it will not work
Tried this and my unit is compatible but right at the end of the install it states data is corrupt and cannot install - so dissappointed looks like Ill have to pay Toyota. Also the link downloads a 12.7Gb file not 400mb like your video showed?
Mate, you must make sure that the 12.7 gb file is extracted into a fresh formatted fat32 32 gb flash drive. The final size should be around 22 GB.
The install is 400 MB but the software initiating the update and the scripts are the rest.
I recommend you try again following step by step including how to prepare the usb drive. Cheers
@CostelTarata hi really appreciate your reply, that's exactly what I did to be honest.
I've ordered a new usb stick incase that's the cause so I'll try again soon.
Well tried new usb stick and formatted correctly - goes through the update process and at the very end I get a red screen and it states couldnt complete. Checked my serial number with Toyota and it can be upgraded so unfortunately Ill have to do the expensive route of getting it done.
Shame and gutted as its obvious your system works but unfortunately just not for mine.
Thanks anyway and its a great video pal.@@CostelTarata
Please enlighten me, I download the software onto the USB stick, and then it's update ready for the Apple CarPlay software?
Yeah, if you have the hardware !!
@@CostelTarata i got it thank you very much brother toyota want from me 199€ for the update i saved now thid money thank you very very much
@@Gizmok698glad it worked then!!
What car, infotainment unit model (navi/non navi) and country?
Salut cine mă poate ajuta să am Android Pe rav4 2019 hibrid
I'm crap with these things. I'm using a zip extractor so I can download the file using Windows 10.
Then I drag it to the 32g USB.
Then I stuck it in the car USB port.
Does that sound right?
Hi there mate!
Not sure exactly what or how you did it. Make sure to follow the exact steps I did in the video.
The file must be all copied, not only specific files. The USB must be Formatted as well in Fat32 mode.
@@CostelTarata thanks I'm in the process of doing it. I'll let you know if I get it to work
@@CostelTarata hi again. I'm making a balls of this.
I see on your video the file is only 400mb.
But the file i linked on to is 13gb. Is that correct?
@@barkendog1mate, the whole file system is 22 GB almost. What updates my car is 399 MB. That doesn’t necessarily means that you should skim the file. Please follow the steps I did, and everyone else did. Before doing all this, make sure your car infotainment unit is listed in description.
@@CostelTarata thanks. I'm still at it. Fingers crossed
what new features does "unlock" offer for Android and are other versions of software available for different models?
There is only AA and CarPlay enabler mate.
Do you have any links for uk models
If the infotainment unit is similar, then you can try and see if the update is compatible
Will this work on a North American Toyota? Will it mess anything up if it doesnt work? My car does not have Android Auto.
You have CarPlay but no AA?
No clue mate i guess you can do trial and error. No idea if it will mess with anything in all honesty but i guess if you do toyota dealership can revert it to factory
Im only guessing.
@@CostelTarata i tried on my NA Toyota 2019 RAV4. It did not find any software updates at all when I inserted the USB.
Can anyone help for 17TDT1NA-CA02 does not work ANDROID AUTO. :/
You updated using this bit of firmware and enabled only carplay? Try with cable, original phone cable and check phone settings
hi I got Corrola Estate 2019 Uk model. Any luck for me mate, thanks for your efforts
Check the unit model mate and if similar try updating!!
For those which are wondering about the 3 USB sticks: as can be seen in the video, Costel's Toyota was without nav so it needed only one USB (the 3rd one)!
My 2019 RAV4 (17TDT2EU-DA02) is with nav, so I needed all 3 USBs (links and usage order is specified in BE_00439T_TME pdf: sticks 1-2-1-3-2).
Whole retrofit upgrade procedure took 1.5h so be very patient: don't turn off or disconnect unless instructed to do so!
Original versions vs final versions:
DCU = 17TDT2EU-DA02 -> 17TDT2EU-DA30
MEU = 17TMT2EU-FA00 -> 17TMT2EU-FA10
Audio = 1000 -> 1075
Nav = 1512 -> 1120
Note: after all these, I also used a 4th USB with only 17TMT2EU-FA10_1170.kwi and 17TDT2EU-DA30_0076.kwi (17TMT2EU-FA10_latest zip and 17TDT2EU-DA30_latest zip from toyota-motor-europe) which did an additional final upgrade:
DCU = 17TDT2EU-DA30
MEU = 17TMT2EU-FA10
Audio = 1075 -> 1170
Nav = 1120 -> 1170
In the end, there is an excellent Android Auto connection: both Google Maps or Nokia/Here Maps work excellent and navigation indications are also shown on the digital speedometer (same way as the original Toyota maps did).
This is an amazing description mate.
Hope it will be useful as well to others!!!
Hi, where exaclty is BE_00439T_TME pdf ?
Costel , i have toyota rav4 2019
And the model of my screen is 17TDTEU-Ca02
Can you please help me to get the right software update ??
Hi there mate. I guess it wouldn’t hurt a try. If the model is listed means will workc if not then the USB will not verify detected whatsoever.
Let me know and fingers crossed!🤞
Greetings. This firmware will work? With the model: 17TDT1LA-EA32
Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2020
I guess you can try. If the infotainment is denso Fujitsu then you might be in luck
Do you know how to check if it is densi fujitsu ?
Thanks
Cheers mate!!!
Unfortunately I tried and it doesn't work with my Australian model 17TDT1OC-CA01. Are you working on support to the oceanic regions? Would be great. Happy to pay for your work as Toyota wants to charge $200 for the update
Im afraid i cannot help mate. Perhaps renaming the file could work (whatever has EU in the name put OC (after unpacking to your USB.
In theory should work.
Ok I'll give that a try
@romancherfan9962 Did you manage to get it working mate? Im in Oz trying to find an update.
I still haven't got around to trying the name change
I tried on my friends RAV4 model ID: 17TDT2EU-DA01. Update gone well. Updated the audio to 1020 from 1000. But no CarPlay coming. Tried 2 times. But every time no manual update possible. It's detecting usb and installing starts automatically. Pls help
Sorry to hear about that buddy. Is your car info unit listed in description?
If so then I would recommend retracing the steps and redu the USB, with the hope that this will work.
Let us know the model of car you have.
Model is 17TDT2EU-DA01
This is happening with me. Do you have one solution?

Still trying to get update file for 17TDT2EU-DA31. I took it to my dealer and they said no update available (only maps update) Anyone manage to find it?
Have you tried with this file? Perhaps to update the existing da31 ?
@@CostelTarata thanks for the reply, which file should I try? Edit to say I downloaded the files and can see there is a 17TDT2EU-DA31 file included. I'll try it and report back. Thanks
Hi.. I did like u said.. put all the files in the root folder of fat 32.. the car booted into red error screen and it says that "panasonic up has failed.. Installation has failed.
Dcu error 0081 parameter 0.
Dcu programing mode.
How can i exit this programing mode?
I cant use the screen at all..
The update should only be found manually and not automatically. The firmware is for the audio unit only, so at worst, if something goes wrong (which shouldn't), only your audio module should be affected. I have personally done this on at least 50 cars without issues, both with and without navigation.
Please ensure you prepare the flash drive correctly. Format it using FAT32. If you have already tried with Windows, use a MacBook instead. Then, copy the files into the flash drive's root folder as shown in my video.
If your car unit is not working at all, it is not due to the firmware, as the update is only for the audio part of the unit.
Try again and let me know.
I tried with a new flash drive and since i dont have a screen (red screen) i hoped that tge update will start when u start the car.. But tge screen is steel red screen.. I have no radio, bluetooth, rear camera..
I dont know how to exit this error red screen.. Dcu programing mode.
I tried to enter service mode with the 3 times head lights on and off with audio button pushed.. But that not working as well.. i think there is a reset button there.
Hi guys- I’ve got the same issue with the fail and red screen at the end. Doesn’t seem to affect the software after I restart the car. However I can’t stop the car from automatically starting the update rather than going through the menus and only selecting the audio to update. I’ve followed the rest of the guide , memory stick formatted to fat32 and have taken only the root folders. Any tips? Thanks
Will it work on 2020 RX 350 Lexus FWD NAP as well?
Supposedly yes, if the infotainment unit model are listed in the signature. Also have in mind that some ppl could not install it on units that have navigation enabled.
Either way, follow the steps and see whats the outcome.

Hi there,
The Audio update will most likely change, but since you already have factory-installed Android Auto, why would you update it? this was meant for those whose cars came unfit. Unless you do not have CarPlay installed and that is your target.
@@CostelTarata thank you for your reply. I have a bug like when answering to a skype call it just hangs up directly and i thought that maybe they already fix that. i dont realy care about CarPlay i'm not an iphone user.
