  • You NEED to try solo Wild Camping in the UK, it can be magical like this camp at Cairn Pica, perched on the edge of a mountain at around 750m.
Views of the Black Mountains and the South Wales Valleys. The light was stunning on the whole walk up and back, and the sunrise was incredible. It was also a chance to test my sub £100 wild camping setup in sub-zero conditions.
If you want to support the channel, please drop the video a like and subscribe, it really helps.
If you want to say thanks for any of my content you can always buy me a coffee - I don't actually drink coffee so any money received would be spent on used camping gear and the odd can of own-brand energy drink.

I've been lucky with some beautiful sunrises last year, but I think this one has them all beat. Will I get a better one this year?

Oooft, fire in the sky. What a morning. 😎 Great video Kev. Looked a cold one. I had the Me Helium mat. Cannae mind which one. Ended up getting a puncture. Wasn't such a bad thing as it took up too much room in ma pack.

Fantastic on top there Kev. Yeah, more or less a 360 view - the Black Mountains look impressive from there to. Nice and fresh in the morning packing down - keeps you on your toes. I'd say it's good for the environment to seeking out used gear. Upcycle and reuse where we can. Well, all the best for the week ahead. Mark

I would add a cooking system to your cheap setup. Nothing beats a hot meat for keeping you warm. Good to see the Spacepacker still performing well! The tent will take some beating I reckon.

I was thinking maybe heading towards a £200 setup that included cook system, sleeping bag liner, clothes, boots and the whole works...

@@TheWalkingKev I remember camping at a camp site in Cerne Abbas many years ago when cycle touring. The winds were howling all night. A friend and I slept in the tent through the storm. In the morning to was total chaos at the site and the Spacepacker was the only tent that had survived like a champ! After that it went everywhere for many years and never once did I feel it would fail on me in heavy weather.

Cheers Carl. I was just about warm enough, but I could have done with a sleeping bag liner just to give me that bit extra.
The DJI Action 3 was only used for a couple of the timelapses. All the walking and talking was shot on a Go Pro 9 Black with the media mod which has a decent mix built in. Tent pitching I used my Sony RX10iv with Rode Wireless Go 2 mics.
