It's also worth noting that SOME editing software like DaVinci Resolve "may" still play a corrupted files. So, you may want to give that a try as well. But for my scenario I wasn't able to recover the corrupt files within Adobe Premiere Pro. Just worth noting....

Somehow gopro detects if files where on your computer and then refuses to read them out. Even the non-corrupt ones. Also refuses to import those into the quick app. However, I will try this method!

I shooted with naked gopro by geprc, I tried recover the files from naked gopro with my other gopro(hero10) but it's not working, when I insert the sdcard with changed name the gopro just freezing when I try open media .. I think it will work if you have a naked 10 and hero 10 )
Thanks it worked! My GoPro would when I recorded my horse riding and then when I was done riding, and I went onto the app, there would be a blank screen
goPro 9 here.. i've follwoed you steps and working up til placing it back on the SD then on the goPro. the goPro doesnt recognize anything to be repair nor do i even see the files on the gopro media. is there anything else i can do? thanks for the info btw

The issue is about the time zone of the creation time of the videos changes to a wrong one after videos are uploaded to GoPro cloud, no matter uploaded via GoPro directly, via web page, or Mac Quick App. The videos shows correct time before the upload.

Have a Hero 9 Black. Get a corrupt file on a regular basis. The Auto repair does not work at all. Tried both methods. Any ideas? Really frustrated. Many thanks
I read the other comments. Have used wonder share, but there is an annual license. Unfortunately my expectation is that GoPro stuff should work. Next camera going to look at DJI or something else. My second GoPro and just feel like effort.
Yeah...I don't know why else this happens. Sometimes I think it might be the microSD card. I've personally, not encountered the corrupt file issue to often but when it happens it certainly is frustrating.

These repairs do not work. GoPro Hero 11 Black just corrupted two files from my day of surfing. Spend the last hour+ following your guide(after already following GoPro guide) the camera does not detect a corrupt file at all. I can pull the battery while recording but the camera will never see the file as corrupt. I have gone and tried updating to the Labs software, some thing. Any thoughts? Each file is 4.29GB, I have verified the SD card is formatted to ExFat so that shouldn't be an issue.
I have an old Garmin Virb, it also on rare occasion will corrupt your videos. Imaging recoding a once in a lifetime event, like a skydive only to have the video unwatchable.
Ouch! I'm sure that Iceland footage is amazing. Search around because I know there is other software out there to help fix corrupt files. You may want to try something called " Wondershare Recoverit " Can't tell you for sure it will work but would at least give it a try. Good luck and really hope you can recover those files.
Sometimes you can still transfer them back to the GoPro microSD Card and power it up again to see if it recovers those files. It can't hurt to try at this point..
This file recovery technique doesn't require Labs firmware, it works on any GoPro camera, maybe as far back as HERO4/5. It is best to use a camera of similar model to do the repair -- as a HERO5 will not likely repair the media of an HERO11.
Great vid, Ron! Thanks! Do you have an opinion on the new 11 Black Mini? I prefer it for a helmet cam on my bike and a rear view cam on my bike, as well. I used to have the Session but they seem to be getting phased out. I did use the GoPro 11 full cam on my helmet but, dang, the wind resistance was brutal. Having used the Session versions, prior, I really like the 11 Minis and, generally set them up through the app or on the device. Easy to do either way, IMO.
I'll be honest....even though I've had the GoPro11 Mini for a while now I've still not fully tested it because I've been mainly using some of my other GoPro's. Especially, my GoPro Bones for my FPV flights. It's still lighter and smaller than the 11 Black Mini. The GoPro11 Black Mini is a good camera but not necessary if you already own a GoPro 10 or GoPro 9 in my opinion. All comes down to your needs and if being slightly smaller in size is a benefit to how your using it. I went snowboarding the other day but didn't using the MINI only because out of habit I just grabbed one of my other GoPro.s :)

Have you tried to drop the file into something like Davinci Resolve or Premiere Pro as well? Sometimes the video editing software will recognize the files. Frustrating I know....

Got a new Hero 11 mini (Labs FW) - I just use it on my FPV Quad, I really hate this model.....it does always shut of the gopro after i hit 4,29GB (have a good SanDisk Extreme Pro and tried different ones all the same problem) and bonus is that alot of these files are just unusable.
Interesting...I'm using the following SanDisk MicroSD card and haven't run into this issue myself; amzn.to/3Sx1fqk I always try to use the best microSD cards to avoid any issues with higher video resolution downloads.
i tried your Method 1 and 2. I have a hero 11 mini, so method 1 wasnt working (have multiple sd cards with corrupt files all created form the 11 mini) then i tried method 2 but i cant pull the battery from the mini 11 obviously....(other solution here?) I tried method 2 with hero 10 (but its not working betwen hero 11 footage to a hero 10) so sad made really good long range shots that were pretty risky...
Have you tried the 3rd method mentioned around 3:30 in the video? The only downside will be you can't use GoPro's ReelSteady to stabilize the footage if you use that method. But the file itself will at least be recovered.

If these methods aren't working there are 'alternative methods'. But most of the software is 'paid' software. If I had to recommend one give this one a try (if the video is worth spending a few $$$); rb.gy/h0mqqi . I believe you can get a FREE Trail-Version but I'm not sure of all the details. It doesn't work. I tried using gp10 with labs firmware installed and in naked gp9. nothing happened.

I uploaded 18 GB to quick, from my trip to Iceland and i can't unzip it because is corrupted.

I transferred all of the corrupted files onto a hard drive is there any way to recover them now?
Sometimes you can still transfer them back to the GoPro microSD Card and power it up again to see if it recovers those files. It can't hurt to try at this point..
oh yeah it does work, got my file nice and ready. Also the gyro data was still there and i could stabilise it with gyroflow.
