love the fact you saw other videos for us and declared it in the beginning. Instant sub in 30 secs and first time here, coz I was gonna go around too into the rabbit hole. Thanks for saving some time!
Great job of addressing the low light subject. Really enjoy your site, just discovered this morning and didn't hesitate to subscribe. Looking forward to seeing more!

I liked the look of the 4k@30fps 1/60 frame rate, I think the exposure was better and there was less blur around the lights even with the 1600k max iso
Man you're content is always full of quality, really loved your videos, your sub count is not at all justified... I'm glad your second channel is doing great with solo camping videos... Hope you'll be big very soon . You deserve it.
Came back to this with a question: So no ND Filter on low light footage and still you can film with manual shutter speed (being double the fps) and any oncoming traffic or tunnel lights won't f**k up the footage?
I just got back from Saigon where I filmed my riding around the city from 5am to 1am. The day time stuff looked good but the night time stuff was shaking and basically unwatchable. Thanks for the share, I'll check them out. I'm heading back to Saigon in January for Tet and want to do a lot of video on riding in the delicious chaos that is Saigon traffic. Regards from West Aus!
Gopro do a decent job considering how small the sensor is. Definitely best to use the manual settings. My preference is darker low iso not just because of noise but also better dynamic range which adds more cinematic vibe.
"Hypersmooth doesn't work 100%" - what do you recommend then, to turn it completely off? Or to keep it on or boosted? Did you stabilize this footage later in post-production?
I tried recording at our indoor rc track the ground is black carpet the rc cars are 10th scale and have bright paint jobs, when I took look at footage the cars where super blurry and some grain .. t settings you recommend.. gopro 12 black
@3:56 Bright shot with more noise. Top priority is that something has to show up in the video other than blackness and the occasional oncoming headlights. Noise has to take a back seat. A noiseless videos is pointless if you can't see anything.
How long could u record without overheating? Any tips for this problem? I have gopro 11 and record video on 4K 60fps and 15-20min it is max that camera can do.
It would be great if you could make 'if this then that' choices to pick your style and have the firmware or app auto adjust for you. If I go on a long ride I just want to hit record and not worry if it's sunny or cloudy or getting dark.
Aloha~ i am still trying to figure out what would be best setting for my gp9 and gp10 low light night shootings like night time parades or night/early morning drive video scenes ...so far i have tested/ tried many different settings but i guess low light/night scenes are not for gopros.the outcome is alwsy Too Dark or Too Noisy if its bright...i still do not know what is best setting yet?... i have decided not to spend anymore money with gopros i am searching other device to replace my GPS 9 and 10. sad
Question on uploading to TH-cam! I have recently got a Hero 7 which I edited in iMovie. The finished videos always look crisp in iMovie but very grainy/blurry once uploaded whether in 4k, 2.7 or 1440 & a variety of different settings. How do you get such a clear uploaded video? It's driving me mad!!!!
If you shoot in low light, there's no reason to use a ND filter. The main purpose of a ND filter is to reduce the amount of light going into the sensor.
Your examples of low light situations don't seem very low light. Those are brightly lit roads. I'm riding on back streets at night where the only light is my bicycle's headlight and the occasional street light. Got any footage like that that doesn't look like you riding in pitch black darkness?
I've ill health at night trying to tape it. Can it tape in the dark? I could do it in light but pain will be so bad ill go to the hospital. (Won't stop)
@@MotoFeelz In fact, you can use 60fps 1/60. The 180 rule does not apply to electronic shutter. Because there is no rotating mechanism on modern devices anymore. Therefore, the shutter only determines how much light per frame the sensor will receive. 30fps 1/60 - 60fps 1/60 has the same motion blur. PaulJoy has a video on this subject, you can check it out if you want.
@6:13 "For the best results Ride somewhere that's well lit" Face palm. Assume we don't have that option. Assume the reason we're looking up videos is because we want to know how to get the best results on dark streets with only a bicycle headlight and the overhead street lights. Otherwise you might as well be saying "For best results just ride in the daytime." lol
he is trying to say that a camera needs light to function you smartass and the less you have light the less quality you get and these tactics will be your best options gday mate
There’s absolutely no need to use an ND filter at night. The sensor is struggling enough as is with the lack of light entering, an ND filter will make it much worse.
Hii.. I have gopro hero 7 black .. 4k 24fps, 1/48 and iso min 100 - max 800. In protune on and in above settings... fps and and shutter won't change... but my question is... does ISO changes according to the lighting conditions....?? Like if there's too dark then iso automatically bumps up to 800 and in good light does it automatically comes down to 100.. is it how it works...??
Has anyone tried recording at low light at 240fps 1/240 (for better stabilization), and then converting the video to 24fps 1/24 using frame blending (to reduce noise)?
John Wick 4LYF ❤️
facts 💯
Thanks for this pal. Its really helpful. I take it there were no ND filters used?
I just got a go Pro 9 and this is one of the best videos I have seen. Great job bro!

Top video mate. I can't get over how good it looked at 3200K at 30fps. I normally shoot at 24fps but I really liked the extra colour
Fantastic to watch the different settings. Appreciated bro 😎
Thanks bro!

Great work! Thanks for sharing that.
And agree, some parts of that airport loop look a lot like Tokyo (and I live in Tokyo 🤣)
Excellent simple low light settings explanations, thanks!
Really good videos, i must to try this trick, great job bro🎉
Excellent, thanks. This was super easy to follow, and implement the settings!
Thanks for the tips! Greetings from Mallorca Spain

Came back to this with a question: So no ND Filter on low light footage and still you can film with manual shutter speed (being double the fps) and any oncoming traffic or tunnel lights won't f**k up the footage?
adding an ND will just darken your image too much. oncoming traffic will glare but not that much. not enough to justify the ND
@@romeodu8697 Thanks!
Yooo did you really say “like playing Need for Speed 2…”??? YES. 100% YES.

Hi , what are the best low light settings to record DJ BOOTH live performance , what you suggest ? Thanks
Great video mate

Thanks sir... complete info...love from India
Very nicely done video! Great footage and info
Thank you!
Are you using ND camera lens filters to in this video
"Hypersmooth doesn't work 100%" - what do you recommend then, to turn it completely off? Or to keep it on or boosted? Did you stabilize this footage later in post-production?
@@northmatic5471 🤔
keep it on but note that it might not perform at its best - and maybe stabilise again it in post.
I tried all these settings but my shootings are always jerky. I think he stabilised his footage in post production.
I think hypersmooth works less well at night tho
So have you guys solve it yet?
I tried recording at our indoor rc track the ground is black carpet the rc cars are 10th scale and have bright paint jobs, when I took look at footage the cars where super blurry and some grain .. t settings you recommend.. gopro 12 black
What a great video mate! I am sure there's a lot of us waiting for the colour grading video! thanks for sharing!!👍
Thanks heaps man! It’ll be a good one
I am waiting for that aswell

Agreed. Although the image may be grainy theres more subject matter and field of view. Unless you're going for a horror/suspense look.
Underrated channel -_-.... wish u good luck. u deserve more subs and views

best used Go Pro to pick up?
is the 9 worth the price over the 8?
Thankyou bro.

Gorgeous video 🔥. Thanks for sharing!

@@MotoFeelz I’ll be using your preferred settings for a low light flight this weekend. Great video, helped a ton.
Great video, just purchased hero 9,and looking for best low light set up,very helpful. Thanks 😊

Do you use ND filter for recording night?
Do you use ND filters because of the settings even at night?
Do you have any lens attached or recommend?
Thank you sir
Welcome
John Wick mode looks best 😎
I think the same
Is there an alternative action camera that I should use or just a small mirror less like that Sony rxv or their blogging camera thing maybe ?
same exact settings except my hero 7 black footage looks like a security camera XD I guess I'm going back to the chest mounted Canon M50 XD
What preset do u use for premier pro to make your videos so colorful Any lut packs will be great. Great videos love from india.
Thank you so much! I’m working on a LUTs pack and hope to have it released by the end of the year. 🙏🙏
I didn't expect a reply. I too have a channel on TH-cam but my videos aren't as smooth as yours. Check out hypertourer you can see my content.

Auto mode is the closest thing to exactly that. You just don’t have complete control
@@MotoFeelz Yep, it just seems there is room for improvement compared to leading smartphone auto-modes with their machine learning AI goodness.
What about Hypersmooth even though it doesn't always work perfectly? Standard or Boost? Or off?
Gopro11 hero black or insta360 X3?
Do u color grade ur videos, if yes would love to know how pls ❤️
Love it man!
Thanks bro 🙏

was an ND filter used in any of these settings? or are they all without?

I don't know why my gopro can't get well video not even during the day. Could i have broken part in my gopro or is it only wrong setting?😢
so do you export the footage at 4k 24 fps or 4k 60fps?
Your examples of low light situations don't seem very low light. Those are brightly lit roads. I'm riding on back streets at night where the only light is my bicycle's headlight and the occasional street light.

I've got 2 Hero 11 Blacks, has much changed for this model as far as settings go?
Will it save these settings so you can swap between 2 settings for morning and evening riding
u can create presets for ur camera and each preset can have the settings u want

If you use 1/60 shutter, why don't you use 60fps already?
Because then I’d have to use 1/120 shutter and will result in a darker image

no ND filter at night right ??

Dude, Mount Media recommends ISO Max 400, not 1600 for low light settings.
400 is way too low imo. I recommend 1600
1/48 shutter speed? I only see 1/480 on the hero 7
i like the last 24fps, 3200k

You should try.
