    Does this mean that Tim will now sit quietly and make faces while Mr. Boo waxes poetic? 😀Great job, Mr. Boo. After 5 months of waiting, I finally received mine this week, and am having a blast! (It is an unreasonably delightful thing to drive).

    Same as me with my van. I have never had a drivers license (despite having worked for a bus company in the UK back in the 90's). Took 30 driving lessons over there in 1991. Never got as far as my test. Using the sans permis opt out, I had a 50cc scooter for about 3 years from 2005 here in France. Which ironically I used to travel to my French lessons 15km away.
    Bought my van second hand in 2018 from a VSP dealer near Paris, about 35km from home. My wife drove it back (she has a license) as I couldn't face the idea of dealing with Parisian traffic.
    So I basically learnt how to drive my van around locally on my own. Still in the situation where I've stayed pretty much local and have yet to drive into the next town. So you are both very brave tootling around those busy, windy and steep roads down there in southern France. If I every do pluck up the courage to drive further a field, it'll be worth doing a video about it. LOL

    Mr Boo, Chuck Yeager (the first man to break the sound barrier) had this advice when I asked him If he had any advice for new pilots: "Don't believe everything any one person tells ya bout how to fly ah airplane". Perhaps that applies to driving instructors, and everything else to.
    Tim, you remind me of my first flight instructor, an Air Force combat instructor who never stopped inundating you with dirty jokes, acronyms, questions, condescending complaints, and a yell and elbow in the ribs just the moment you at your limit of mental focus. When I finally demeaned he stop and let me focus on flying the airplane, he would say: 'If you can't keep from killing us me distracting you a little bit, then someday when some little thing distracts you, you're gonna kill everyone riding behind you!". The first thing he taught was not how to fly, but how to overcome fear.

    Thanks to the TH-cam Gods, I was directed over to your channel as one that I may enjoy, and lo and behold - I DO! I am now a new sub gentlemen!
    Now, I am going to do something I shouldn't, and ASSUME that you two are a lovely nesting pair just like me and my deceased hubby Sam were (I still miss him terribly...damn AIDS). If my assumption is wrong than I expect to have my Gay card catch on fire and me kicked out of our 'club' lol.
    I am just starting to go through your backlog of videos to see just what kind of fun you two have been up to as you work your way though southern France (gorgeous scenery!) in your little Citroen Ami - which I love by the way (Citroen doesn't exist in the USA so your AMI is as close as I will ever get to one). What a fun looking little car! Does it have an HVAC system for heating and cooling (AC) the interior or is that even available in this car? Anyway, you are driving around in a beautiful country and hopefully enjoying your lives together as you explore the world and that's all that matters really.
    I live in SE Arizona in a tiny little farming town with a population of only 1800 people, and I live full time in a large 34 foot class A motorized caravan that I have covered in solar panels and loaded with a large bank of Lithium batteries that allow me to run everything in my RV (caravan) including my AC, residential fridge, microwave...basically EVERYTHING - all off the power of the sun, and especially, the battery system. It's pretty amazing to be able to live off grid electrically while being mobile at the same time in my RV home. I was told repeatedly that I couldn't achieve my goal with my system, but I win - I'm doing it!
    Alrighty boys, time for this old queen to get my morning coffee and feed the herd of feral cats outside of my door. I look forward to watching all of your videos in your archives and want to wish you both all the happiness in the world as a couple of lovely men that got lucky enough to find each other in this world, and are sharing yourselves with the world on this channel. Bravo guys!

Stop in and look through my Videos and you'll see whet I am talking about. \You two have a lovey day!

    Nice video - I am enjoying your output a lot. I had put myself on the list a while back for an Ami here in rural Scotland, but when push came to shove, I decided I needed an affordable used conventional car to travel long distances at any hour in case elderly relatives in England suddenly got unwell. But I'd still like one as a second car for local trips one day.
    It'll be interesting to see if Amis are selling in any numbers in the UK. The 'How Many Left?' site says that initially 87 were sold in the last quarter of last year here, and we should know soon how many were sold in the first three months of 2023. Any idea how many are on the roads in France right now? Considerably more than in the UK, I'd be guessing.

    Again, You make me curious about the French rules to legally drive Ami.
    Is it tuely "sans permis" = E.g. you only need ID to prove your age? Or do you need to go through some formalities first?
    In Norway, anyone born before 1985 can apply for an AM145 license without training or test.
    (145 = national code: two wheel moped, without test, born before 1985)

    • @MeandMonAmi
      @MeandMonAmi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No formalities whatsoever if you are born before 1988. If born after ‘88 you have to do a BSR which is a road safety certificate.

      @@adelerobinson7269 (guessing you asked me about Norwegian rules)
      If you were born before 1985
      You can get a driving licence for Category AM 145 without training or a test.
      Anyone younger would need to do mandatory training for AM146 and a written test.
      AM145 and 146 give the exact same privilege, but with different requirements to obtain.
      History:
      Minimum age used to be: 16yo without training only ID.
      Then gradually 16yo with training for licence and 20yo without training only ID
      Then from 2005: anyone 20yo before 2005 (eg born before 1985) had to apply for AM145. Younger need AM146
      The reason for AM145 is to sort of require a license, but not require training retroactively. But you can't apply to get AM145 after a violation causing regular license to be revoked, unless the time is served.
      To drive an Ami (aka 4-wheel moped)'you need AM147 or unrestricted AM

    • @thorbjrnhellehaven5766
      @thorbjrnhellehaven5766 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeandMonAmi I think the Norwegian rules for 2-wheeled moped is better.
      Born before 1985 only have to apply for a license, but it just a simple formality, and no training or test.
      However, you are not eligible to apply while you serve time for another revoked license (eg speeding og DUI).
      Then after 80 yo, the license has to be renewed with a doctor's certificate every maximum 3 years.
