Great video! I am more interested in print quality than speed, so I rarely tweak my settings once I've got my printers dialed in with good results. Slower speeds, better quality and less fatigue on the various parts.
Absolutely. If you have the time, slower is better. Always.
Very interesting results. Thanks for the info Daniel.
Nice video. I know a lot of people want faster prints but I personally prefer quality over speed. The printer is doing all the work so I'm in no hurry. Having said that, a well built, stable printer will give better results at all speeds.
absolutely
I prefer the idearmaker or Pruca slicer
Interesting test
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
So I didn't the marlin 2. Firmware update from the original firmware it used to print perfect now the prints are terrible so bad and I wish I could go back what do I do
can i get the link for the BL Touch holder?
Do you have an anet am8 with the skr 1.4? And kind of review. And mayby an video of the skr 1.4 with the wifi modul?
PLEASE HELP!! I am not a programmer but I did the AM8 build and added an e3dv6 and a capacitive touch sensor. I cannot figure out the firmware changes. Could you send me the CONFIG files for this so my printer is not a hunk of scrap metal?!
Great video, thank you so much. Any chance you’ll upgrade the AM8 with a 32 bit driver board like the SKR Mini with smoothers? Would be interested to see the results again in addition to the metal frame!
Yes, I will do board upgrades soon to compare the different options. Also Marlin 2.0 will be a topic.
Another great vid
Thanks Gary Toth!
Hi this is a really nice video! I tried to understand everything but i have a doubt, you increased print velocity because you changed the frame? or the motors too?
Yes, the original frame was plastic and quite wonky. The AM8 ist a replacement frame.
I've ordered a RatRig conversion from ebay.....I'm going to try it out and possibly just add to it to create a more CoreXY 'box' which with the addition of a bit of extrusion would be fairly easy and sturdy. I presently have the beast with a spreader bar under a cargo strap and three points across it to create a sort of Parthenon roof peak (shallow triangle) and this essentially works to keep some stability from 'x-wobble' by applying downforce, but it's still got some rippling/ghosting that annoys me.
I had a lot of problems before, and then I changed something
Temperature 215, speed 150
Now the quality is really good
I'm assuming that's with the AM8 conversion?
I've tried speeding up my AM8 and some prints worked at 120mm/s, however I later discovered it wasn't reliable at that speed. Occasionally I got layer shifts suggesting missing steps. Think I would need to lighten the bed and/or switch to a remote extruder to get it working reliably on large prints at over 100mm/s. The above is all with PLA. I've found I have to print slower when using PETG.
Yes, printing at higher speeds is a bit of a risk in the long run. Also parts wear down faster...
My guess is this kit lack of corner brackets makes the frame vibrates more. My AM8 using the original guide prints better at 120 mm/s 4000 acceleration than the first benchy print at 60mm/s. Too much blobs at random spots, from constant vibration
I have a am8. Heavily modified. Last printing I tried 100mm/s and got y axis skipping. I have replaced the steppers now. [Have not tested yet] did you try any prints that did utilize the speed [longer x y runs?]
I will do more long term testing soon. but nothing bad happened yet.
nice christmas music :)
Thanks 😁
Wouldn't it be better to detach the Extrudermotor to the Frame? That should cause lower Vibrations! And how about S-Curve motions? Using linear rails? Like in the BLV 12 Mod?
Have you thought about updating to Anet Evolution?
Looks like an interesting option. I am currently researching, which one I want to build.
I would say you transport your anet a8 issues into your Am8 because the frame kit makes the construction of the pri ter stronger but i dont really change the quality as well! take a look at blv mgn12h he build this printer as a opened build on thingiverse! I also build my Own one and clean! if you want i will show you my build 👍
Yes, the blv mgn is an amazing printer. Quite expensive though if you want the original rails. I think, still an interesting option, I will look into.
@@Crosslink3D Yes its quite expensive but no trouble anymore about damage bearings or igus bearings if you want i send you some Picture! I also want to use a 32bit Lerdge-X board with some tmc2208 but on the otherside i outsource the entire electronic parts from the printer so i decided to make everything on my own!
Anet A8 + bowden? (E3D)
Matt Volpi works pretty well. Also gives you a bit more speed.
I have ender 3 and print 500m/s lol and get goo results
Who was looking if his radio is turned on? I don't like any music while listening technical stuff. It's distracting.
