Must be nice to go to prepare something in your kitchen and everything is ready to go! I don’t have that at my house! Bet someone cleans up the mess too! Honestly, I’d love to have the prep, clean up job! When I’m in my kitchen, I feel like I did when I was a child playing house in my little make shift kitchen in the corner of my daddy’s garage. My kitchen is my happy place. I really found comfort there after divorcing after 46 years of marriage. I’ve always loved my home, my kitchen, and the joys of caring for my family. Hugs!
Definitely going to try this one, Miss Paula! Only change I'll make is add some cubed, cooked potatoes and crumbled bacon for the top. Thank you for another recipe! :)
This looks yummy, although I think I would use rotel and add garlic. But you know a good receipe can get your mind to thinking on ideas to make a few changes. Love and best dishes ya'll
I have to try this. I was literally just talking to my cousin yesterday about some of my grandma's recipes. She use to make this stuff called Garden Garbage. It's pretty much, leftover veggies from the garden. Stewed down with some bacon and rice. And it Normally has cabbage, tomatoes, onion and green peppers in there. You could obviously add whatever you like. Either way, It's SO good. I thought it was funny that a cabbage recipe popped up on your feed today. I'm planning on making stuffed cabbage this weekend too. But I may try this. It's much easier.
My late husband used to love stuffed cabbage, but it's a lot of work. So, I decided to make it in a deconstructed way. One way was, I made the meat mixture (Chopmeat, onions, garlic, cooked rice, seasonings)into balls. Chop up the cabbage & cook it down about ½ way in crushed tomatoes, onions, and garlic, then add the meatballs & cook until done. The 2nd way was brown the meat with onions and garlic, drain, then add the chopped up cabbage & crushed tomatoes. Cook just until the cabbage is to your softness liking, then add your cooked rice. Stir & heat thru & serve. I only add sugar if the cabbage or tomatoes are bitter.
Hello! I am a beginner cook. I don't want to change to a different pan to stick in the oven just to melt cheese as stated in her video, plus I don't really think the cheese sounds good. I'm wondering if I skipped the cheese and just followed your instructions #2, approximately how long should I cook after adding the cabbage?
@buckybuckybeaver, it all depends on how soft or crunchy you prefer your cabbage. My late husband liked it very soft. All I can say is to try cooking it down about 15 minutes, then tasting a piece of the whiter leaves of the cabbage because the whiter part that's closer to the stem is harder & takes longer to cook. You don't have to add cheese. Paula's recipe is a casserole. You can make it Paula's way, but just don't add the cheese. If you have big pan/pot that will hold everything & you cook it until the cabbage is done but you really want the cheese on top. Then sprinke the cheese, turn the heat down low, cover the pan & cook a few more mins until the cheese melts or put the pan in the oven. It just won't be browned on top. Some pots & pans can be placed under the broiler for a minute or two. You'd have to check with the manufacturer first to see if it's oven safe & broiler safe. If yours can, then sprinkle & stick it under the broiler till lightly browned.
@@buckybuckybeaver no problem! I just happened to be looking at my phone & saw the notification. Good luck with your cooking! Practice makes perfect! Always taste your food as you are cooking to make sure your seasonings are to your liking. 🙂
I think you could do this just on the stove top too. Just bring everything to a simmer, then pour into a dish & top with that 1 cup of cheese & cover & let sit for a couple minutes until cheese melts.

Instead of boiling the cabbage you can add the raw chopped cabbage when the meat and onions are frying. Drain, and then you can put all the mixed ingredients in the oven to melt the cheese. I don't use cheese. It's good over rice.
It looks keto friendly, too
I am going to make this recipe. I bought me a air fryer from Paula Dean and it is blue. It is so pretty.
I love watching you so much! Is that a fancy scale behind you next to your stove? If so can you tell where and what kind?
I'd love this recipe
Amen to that Mike. Great advice from someone who has his priorities straight. Good to hear in these dark times.😇🙏🏼😇
Missing the rice!!! Cabbage rolls & cabbage roll casserole has rice.
I think if you could wait overnight for that to cool it would have been better
make golabkis their great too! a polish dish
You dont have to boil the cabbage seperately. Just add it to your cooked ground beef mixture, along with rice and garlic.Mix in 2 cups of beef broth ,bring to a boil. Then cover and simmer on low for about 20 minutes .Thats a true one pot meal. Can also do something similar in a crockpot though you don't use any broth .
💖👼🏻🌺 looks good
Simple down to earth, thank you paula d, great vid !
Michael makes a good sous chef! 😎
I make this but I put cooked rice in the casserole.
It’s good with cornbread. 😋 yummy ❤️
I love cheesebut I'm thinking this would taste more like stuffed cabbage if you left the cheese off
