I have a question, does Soyeon come up with every concept for Gidle and produce every title track on her own? or is it her and the company combined?
@@jingl3ball Yes...Soyeon will make a powerpoint to present her ideas on the whole concepts and songs to the company so that they understand what they gonna do each comeback..Soyeon composed all their title tracks...other members like Minnie & Yuqi composed some great b-sides too..99% of idle discographies are produced by members..all members will gather and have discussions abt concept, album visuals, songs lines, outfits, makeup, and even nail arts..Soyeon is like a director of the group, but all decisions made are based on all members' agreements..

@@jingl3ball Soyeon mostly comes up with the ideas for the concepts. She discusses it with the other members and only after they all agree on the concept she will propose it to the company. Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi all write, compose and produce the tracks. Soyeon the most as she has been doing that since their debut. They do work with a few outside producers like Poptime, Yummy Tone and Houdini. Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi have been credited for all their songs but one since their debut
@@jingl3ball I recommend the video "Watch Soyeon of (G)I-DLE in a boardroom" if you haven't seen it already. It's short but gives an idea of the process behind Nxde. She gets inspiration from others and fictional characters. This time it was Marilyn Monroe so that's how she came up with this concept.
6:45 This is Shuhua, she's not the one you think. Shuhua is the vocal chameleon of the group. No one knows what her natural singing voice sounds like really. It's different every comeback. This is also her first time EVER dying her hair, except for the one time she got highlights, you'd see her with her natural black hair usually. The fact that she dyed her hair for this concept shows how important it is.
2:14 this is the girl you are thinking of in Oh My God, this is Minnie, she is known for her dreamy vocals.
Soyeon is a genius, she is apart of EVERYTHING. From the writing and production, to the concept, the choreography, the stage planning, there is seriously no one like her. She has written and produced about 80-85% of (G)I-DLE's songs, with Minnie and Yuqi (deep voice girl) being the other 15-20% (for now until it grows).

I really think that Shuhua gained a lot of confidence through the World Tour. I know they recorded this track after TOMBOY promotions and just before the tour, but They shot the MV after the US portion, and by that point Shuhua had gained a lot of stage presence and confidence. You can see it on the Showcase performance. She's giving Queendom level of facial expressions there. I really do think Shuhua leveled up, and people are just now noticing.
That voice you love that you reference to Oh My God is actually Minnie’s voice. But plot twist, this time Shuhua (green dress) is doing it. Shuhua is generally understood to be the least vocally developed member and thus, the least confident in her abilities. but Soyeon has said in the past that Shuhua’s voice is a blend of Minnie’s, Yuqi’s, and Miyeon’s. And we finally get to hear it clearly in this song. When most people hear that part, they think it’s Minnie. But plot twist, it’s actually Shuhua this time! Soyeon is a genius.
Watching the recording session for this song is incredible, you really get to see Shuhua in all her glory recording her parts!

Gidle doing so much this comeback for the community. They releasing Nxde not just for entertainment, but for women empowerment, women appreciation & also for women protection:
1. A proper homage to Marilyn Monroe = Soyeon said in an interview this is a tribute to MM with dignity & respect, taking her story and her image of "beautiful blonde and stupid" that was created by people(Soyeon ripped up the newspaper full of rumors about MM in the MV), but behind all of that MM was actually an intelligent strong woman(Soyeon's lyrics part 'a bookworm obsessed with philosophy, self made woman + Leaves of Grass book which MM used to read). Also, all costumes, visualization and fashion paying homage to MM was beautifully done in this MV.
2. With Nxde being released, it filtered the South Korean internet searches when those disgusting people searching for "nude". Korean fans said when they typed in "women nude" on their search engine, now the top searches show gidle's last verse "You've got a dirty mind".
3. Gidle group name in korean is [여자]아이들 which reads as "yeoja aideul" literally means "girls children" for direct translation. Same as point no.2, they filtered the korean internet searches for those pedophiles who search for explicit minor contents. Yes, Soyeon's brain is insane.
4. Soyeon mentioning Twisted Lorelei in her part. She refers to Lorelei Lee that was played by Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes(hearts scene with Minnie wearing hot pink dress).
Fans also relate this with Lorelei a siren which represents seduction, temptation & allure women have towards men, but Soyeon added "Twisted" word the opposite from those expected standard = being educated and having her own style & can express herself.
5. Soyeon using MM as an inspiration was also related to ex-member Soojin whose her favorite icon is MM. That one animated woman in this MV really resembles Soojin in Oh My God era.
Gidle is the only girlgroup which embodies their concepts really well because they heavily-involved in their comebacks from doing research to have full understanding so that they can execute the concept the best they can, involve in song makings, MV direction, costumes, hairstyles, to even smallest detail like nail arts.

@@brianna058 "Most artistic" nobody said "Who sold out the most" which I agree, the biggest band is Blackpink, we all know that, but Idle is the most artistic group by far.
They literally have ALL the creative control. All of it. Their company has very little to do with their concepts. This is a 100% self-produced, self-composed, self-written and self-directed group, from the music, to the lyrics to the creative direction, is all up to the 5 of them (mostly the leader Soyeon) since their debut. In one of the lyrics at the beginning of the song, Soyeon says she is a self-made woman, and she isn't saying that just because, her and her group are completely self-made. That only makes them so much more Iconic, because they truly are the ones pushing the narrative here, not a company or executives behind them. Hope you get more into them, they are so so worth it! This is in every sense a feminist concept, and given how feminism is looked down upon in Korea, I would say these girls are 100% pushing boundaries and not being afraid to face backlash or criticism.
Not sure about "ALL creative control". The way it usually works is Soyeon proposes crazy things, CUBE says no, Soyeon makes PowerPoint presentations and tries her hardest to convince them, and eventually they reluctantly agree. But we only ever see the ideas she manages to pass through CUBE management; we have no idea how many of them got vetoed and never saw light of day. Only sometimes through interviews or such we hear about some of them (like how a song, I forgot which one, got rejected and had to wait two years till it finally got approved to be published on I Burn).

@@AmadanMath they still have all the creative control, even if it’s the version ‘accepted’ by Cube. They were still the ones to think of it and conceptualize it, that’s still having the creative control of the product. At work I have to go through leaders to accept my proposals for a new product or idea, leadership may ask for changes, but doesn’t make the final product any less mine, at the end of it they accepted MY proposal. Same applies for our them, thus giving them the creative control. That’s the way everything works in business.
@@RoguePanda93 If the company can still tell them 'no', then they do not have complete creative control. If they had 100% complete control, they would not have to ask the company for a green light, they would just do whatever-the-hell-they-wanted.
Cube is good for only a few things; 1) treating their idols like money machines instead of like individual people, treating their idols like trash and kicking them out when they are no longer money machines, saying no to things that might affect the next quarter's profits for the Execs or messing with the vacation plans of the Execs, or ruining careers.
At this point, I-DLE is carrying Cube. And Soyeon is carrying I-DLE.

The rapper, Soyeon, writes and produces almost ALL of their songs. Minnie and Yuqi have joined in more now, but it used to be almost entirely Soyeon!
Fun fact, Cube, their company kept pushing back their debut claiming they didn't have a song prepared, so naturally, Soyeon sat down and wrote one. “Latata”, was written in a hurry. She wrote, produced, composed, and arranged the track by herself. And then they got their first win 20 days after their debut, since then Cube has let Soyeon run wild with their music and concepts 😂
The fact that people told Soyeon she was too ugly to become an idol is insane, and I hope those very same people got to sit there and watch her blow up. Soyeon is one of the greats for sure.
Some additional background on how Soyeon came to write and produce "Latata" - something she actually never set out to do: CUBE dithered over the debut song in part due to the bind they had gotten themselves into with CLC. CLC debuted as a "cute/fresh" concept in 2015 because CUBE already had 4Minute as their "girl crush" group, but CLC didn't really like the cute vibe and when 4Minute disbanded in 2016 they got a reluctant CUBE to let them switch concepts with ""Hobgoblin" in early 2017. CUBE never really committed to the concept change - CLC's follow-up "Where Are You" was a sweeter song, which flopped compared to "Hobgoblin", so they went back to a harder sound with "Black Dress" in early 2018, just a few months before (G)I-DLE's debut (and WOULD have flip-flopped concepts again with "La Vie en Rose" had they not re-sold the song to IZ*ONE).
Meanwhile (G)I-DLE was close to ready to debut - the kinda-last-minute addition of Miyeon delayed things a bit but CUBE couldn't decide WHAT concept CLC was going to be, and thus couldn't decide what concept (G)I-DLE would be in turn to contrast with CLC. "Maze" was recorded and could have been the debut song but CUBE wasn't 100% sold that it was "right". When the debut date started being pushed back, Soyeon saw that their opportunity might slip away and in a meeting with CUBE management presented her concept and demo for "Latata". CUBE was hesitant - the debut is the most important release of a group's career - although Soyeon had SOME experience songwriting, trusting her with a new group's debut was a HUGE gamble. Time was ticking though - Soyeon and Miyeon were already committed to Riot Games' K/DA release scheduled for that fall and with CLC's comeback shelved, CUBE had to move forward.
Of course we know now almost five years later that "Latata" was a huge hit, and when "Hann" followed up that fall just as big, CUBE realized that Soyeon was a once-in-a-generation talent and gave her control over (G)I-DLE's creative direction. Ironically (G)I-DLE doesn't really fit the definitions of "girl crush" OR "cute" - they do their own thing and all the hemming and hawing about the contrasting concepts didn't matter in the end.

@@Vektorix28205 thanks for all the background info. I’d always guessed that that’s how it went from the bits and pieces I could cobble together but you’ve provided so much context. This totally also translates to how they get to conduct themselves. Since they have so much creative control, they’re allowed what seems to be a whole lot more independence in how they conduct themselves and to just be themselves in the public eye, compared to other much more restricted idols.
@@Vektorix28205 Right. There is SO much to unpack there...Cube trusted Soyeon enough to listen to her when she told the other members to stop taking vocal lessons from whoever was giving the lessons. That vocal coach was an idiot and was not paying attention to the natural voices the ladies had and was constantly pushing them to do unnatural vocal things that we are pretty sure would have hurt them in the long run. Soyeon's genius strikes again.
the betty boop reference was actually on point ! They released a "spoiler" video earlier this year where we can see soyeon pitching the concept of the album and a the tt to their agency's team and her presentation clearly shows that she was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Betty boop !
She was also inspired Jessica Rabbit too! Because Jessica Rabbit is the cartoon character they used in the MV😁

The one whose voice you said you love is Shuhua, but in reality, I'm almost certain that it's actually Minnie's voice that you love because Shuhua sounds almost exactly like Minnie in that part.

They've pronounced (G)I-dle with and without the G themselves before, but I think they're dropping the G now with Soojin's departure.
At the US concerts they said "G-IDLE" so I think they have just accepted that that's what everyone calls them…

5:32 Yes, they are responsible for the whole album actually. The group has the produce line: Soyeon, Yuqi and Minnie. They write or help write the songs and produce as well. Soyeon not only helps with that, but also came up with the idea for this whole concept, which she is always doing as well. She is a genius.
Soyeon doesn’t “help”, she is the lead writer and producer for (G)I-DLE’s content.
(G)-Idle is the most unique K-pop group out there. They do what they want, the way they want, and are totally different than anyone else. They are at the top of their game.
I Think the whole concept is about how society views female celebrities and women in general because people imagine that she's just be a dumb sexy person but in reality she's an intelligent woman! pretty much like the lyrics says: "Bookworm obsessed with philosophy. a self made woman"

LION is another good feminist song with a strong message or TOMBOY is also about how the kpop industry and South Korea is so male dominated and leaves no room for women to grow etc...
Talking about serious issues like these is one thing that they're not afraid of and they're one of the very few groups (if not the only one) that're doing this. Gidle is not a group that uses feminism for sale( Like some other groups with men making their whole songs and talking about girlpower just for the albums to sale) They're women making their own music and delivering their message and i think that's admirable.
3 of the 5 current members are their producer line and they make almost all of their songs together.
Soyeon is my ult K-pop female idols. She’s also solo artist and is part of K/DA. She’s sooo good and so beautiful. They all look STUNNING!

When soyeon first talked about this concept to the company the company immediately said “nude?? Isnt that too inappropriate??” And soyeon said she instantly thought “oh I definitely have to push for this concept cause people like this have to hear this message” and she made it into a hit song..i stanned idle during nxde era and theres always puzzles in their songs like the word play around “hwaa” in hwaa(anger/flower) and the “yeppi yeppi yo” (pretty pretty in korean) /i dont give a love in nxde..i fell in love with their ingenious music and im so glad you guys were also able to figure it out!!!
this comeback is the first time ever that Shuhua (the maknae) has let anyone touch her hair color
and, yeah, having them all blond (well, Yuqi still going a bit reddish, but ...) is deadly!
and until you're used to picking out voices it's going to be a bit difficult: now that they are all blond, some of the facial similarities (IMO) between Yuqi (from Beijing) and Shuhua (from Taiwan) are highlighted, and it's worse *especially* now that Shuhua is coming into her own and seems to be showing some of that wonderful rich vocal tone that Yuqi is so well known for

wow the way you guys figure out almost everything that the MV wanted to show is incredible, like it's so rare for people to actually pay attention to what it has to say and the lyrics too...i recommend you guys the whole mini album I LOVE too if you have the time, you're gonna love it, it has a whole story in it and it's very realistic and meaningful
The girl you said was stunning at 3:36 is Miyeon!
She was actually supposed to debut with Blackpink, but for some reason, she decided to leave YG. And then later on she auditioned at Cube instead.
I can't blame her for leaving YG tho, considering the things you hear about that company xD
I heard that she left because she was frustrated that her debut kept getting pushed back ad she felt she was just wasting her time. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Given what we know about Miyeon, she's a pretty loyal person. We know she's still friends with Blackpink (Lisa especially) so her just deciding to ditch them just doesn't sound like her. My guess is that YG thought Blackpink already had enough power vocals and Miyeon felt redundant. Plus she didn't have a fall back skill of being a crazy good dancer so maybe the company themselves suggested that Miyeon try her luck elsewhere. I'd be very interested to know what the real story is there, because losing Miyeon (while it didn't hurt YG) was kind of a dumb move given how crazy popular she is now. If she debuted with Blackpink, maybe she might have been outshined by the big personalities... but then again maybe not. She's in a group with freaking Soyeon and Yuqi and is just fine. So again, you have to wonder how things would have turned out if she stayed.

@@GleeChan this doesn’t necessarily answer everything but I remember her saying somewhere that she didn’t know if she would ever get to debut as a reason that she left YG. I’m glad for her now that we know how things worked out. Miyeon landed exactly where she needed to be. She’s too precious and too pure of a soul to have to put up with YG and the other shit that Blackpink has to put up with. She’s found success (albeit not on the scale of BP) and she’s found her little, crazy misfit family in the girls of GIDLE. Things turned out fine in the end 😊
I believe Idle had two major messages.
1- Beauty, glamour, physical attractiveness does NOT mean that you're dumb or an airhead. Marilyn Monroe, as a source of inspiration for the concept, was actually a very smart woman.
2- Nudity isn't inherently erotic. It's the viewer that makes something dirty. Hence, why the final lyrics are "I'm born nude. YOU'VE got a dirty mind."

I totally agree..! I absolutely love shuhua and she is one of the most underrated idols i think...she dance so much better she sings amazing and I don't have to talk about her looks.. huge crush on shuhua
The green dress girl is *Shuhua*. The "Oh My God" girl who you love the vocals for is Minnie. In the past, Shuhua has been shy about singing and usually has less parts. Lately she's been gaining courage and has been singing a lot more. I think that's because (G)I-DLE went on a world tour and Shuhua started singing an ex-member's parts. I think that's given her more confidence to sing. So I'm really happy that for a moment you confused Shuhua with Minnie... which meant that her voice improved so much that you compared her to one of the best singers in K-pop. This comeback has been a really big win for Shuhua and I'm sure I'm not alone in being so proud of her bravery and growth as an artist.
Soyeon writes all their title tracks. One of the only idols I would legitimately call a genius. (G)I-DLE is one of the best groups working today. I'm very excited for you to check out more from them! Something you should know about them is that until last year, they were a six member group, but Soojin had to leave the group due to a bullying scandal. This is only their second comeback without her.
7:00 thats actually exactly what she was saying! im so happy the meaning wasnt lost through translation, they also changed how they address themselves for this song specifically (from just idle to gidle, which in korean is "girl" idle) so that now, when ppl search for "girl(or woman, in korean its the same) nude", they get this song :)
the animated girl is said to be soojin which is a former member of their group and is known as the most "sexy" in their group, idk I have just arrived and just started stanning gidle but this is what I got from yt shorts about the mv's meaning
IDLE, Purple Kiss and Dreamcatcher are like the unholy trinity of girl groups. I always said PK is like the love child of IDLE and Dreamcatcher. They are unique and special talents in their own way for sure but in the way that all 3 seem to be carving their own path.
If you like DC and PKs crazy energy then IDLE will also be a fun group to deep dive. Their members are INCREDIBLY crazy.

Yuki of Purple Kiss has Soyeon has her rap idol. If I'm not mistaken other PK members like Dosie and Chaein have also referenced IDLE as their idols. My personal dream is for Minnie and Swan to have a duet together with Soyeon and Yuki rap features. Also Dreamcatcher and IDLE are friends and have been known to interact a lot when they intersect promotions.
Well, really, DreamCatcher will interact with EVERYBODY. They love making new friends and they love keeping the friends they already have. I am really glad these two groups get along so well, it's AWESOME to see when everybody supports everybody. :)

because they are self-written the comeback concepts are always really well thought out and carry very deliberate messages, i just think they get better at getting those messages across the more music they make.
my interpretation is that they are speaking out against idol culture where humans become objects for people to critique and judge with little empathy like with statues or art. part of the job of an idol is putting on a pretty face and being good, pure and neutral to appeal to the most people, but they obviously have strong artistic vision and emotions they want to express as musical artists. they reference exboyfriends, drinking and smoking in this album's b-sides, as they write about life in a way that isnt usually acceptable for idols to mention. but as stated in nude, they will keep making this music they love and is true to them even if the public hates it because its their actual human experience.

There is a theory going around that the blonde animation we see in the MV represents Soojin (the member who sadly left (G)I-DLE) because the mole that is under the animations left eye is the same as Soojin's.

G-Idle is the best kpop girl group for now. They worked so hard for every comeback. The way they produced and directed everything by themselves especially Soyeon just proved how serious they are as artist. I even went to their concert past few months the energy and stage presence were madness!
my absolute favorite aspect of gidle is that from the beginning, they’ve been self sufficient in that they personally write, arrange, and/or compose every single one of their songs- they control the production personally, albeit w some help from time to time. so whenever they come up with a concept, it’s really the genuine efforts of all of the members as well as an expression of their heart! definitely check out i never die if you have time- it was a fantastic first full length album, and has inspiration and context behind it that becomes apparent if you’re able to look into the group a little more! tomboy is the most known of that album, but i think that every song on it reveals layers of depth given a little analysis- take for example, my bag! i would also highly recommend lion, uh-oh, and moon :) i will also say that they definitely kicked things up a notch after their hiatus,, they were spectacular before but everything since has honestly been stunning
The entire group is so talented it is ridiculous. You should definitely check out their solo work as well when you do the deep dive. Soyeon has been the main force behind their discography, and I love that the other members are starting to write and compose more for the group as well.
when soyeon presented the concept to the company betty boop was actually mentioned as an inspiration as well, so you were definitely not wrong! and since they've started promotions for this song, soyeon has said that she felt very let down when watching Blonde and that they didn't do Marilyn the justice she deserved so the group is happy they could give a more inspiring homage to her.
they've also been praised by knets for the titling of the song since their group name in korean literally translates to (women)children so if people search some very... disgusting things, instead of what they would like to find, they're instead met with many search results of this song specifically with lyrics calling them out for being perverts showing in the searches.
i'm not sure what other songs you guys know of theirs, but i definitely recommend 'Lion' and 'Tomboy' for their messages as well!

Soyeon is involved in every single song, sometimes accompanied by Minnie or Yuqi. All of the lyrics are gorgeous and they describe the feelings and emotions the girls experienced during their 2021 hiatus when they were at their lowest.
The animated character is the member soojin who left the group. They included her in mv in a cartoon form. Soojin has a mole under her eye, so does that character.
First time watching ya’ll reaction and enjoyed it very much. Always fun to see where we all match in our interpretations as well as areas we got something differently. (G)-idle is definitely the more artistic group that takes their own creative liberty and brings a lot of interesting sound as well as amazing concepts to life. theres an added impact to the lyrics when you take into account all the marilyn monroe references. marilyn was exploited all her life and even in death, people objectified her as a dumb blonde who used her body to get what she wanted but she was actually extremely intelligent and had a lot more to her than people thought. mariyln and other exploited women get a voice through this mv and it's lyrics. (all of this is especially impactful since this song came out pretty recently after the release of the movie "blonde" which was yet another movie directed by a man exploiting and misconstruing marilyn's story to sexualize her)

OH MY GOODNESS YES YES YES!!! First of all sorry that I'm late, second THIS WAS A STATEMENT HOLY COW! The first time I watched this my jaw was just dropped I was legit SPEECHLESS, THEY ALL ARE SO STUNNING- the only thing missing is Soojin (she would've ate, hatred CUBE) I legit don't know who looked best they all killed it and when I saw our Maknae Shuhua my heart stopped I needed CPR because WOW she looked PHENOMENAL and her Vocals have improved so much just stunning, Soyeon always just WOW she can step on me and when she started taking off her shirt I was just even more stunned, Minnie ATE her vocals holy cow and just her whole look I just love everything about it and her bangs just UGH, Miyeon is so underrated HOLY COW her Vocals always hit me like a truck and her Visuals- (WHY DO THEY ALL LOOK SO GOOD IN BLONDE) just everything, and Yuqi with the blonde and her DEEP voice she can step on me and I'd say Thank You! Wow. I'm early. But I truly do love the message that this song is trying to convey. To not look at the body and whats on the outside but the person you really are on the inside and being able to break free from the shackles and standards of society.
Musically I ADORE this song. Concept wise I think Soyeon (and (G)I-dle) are really pushing boundaries with Nxde. They are unapologetically sending a feminist message and making a commentary on celebrity culture in a pretty conservative country. Soyeon is a total badass and musically is on a whole other level. She’s an ARTIST with a capital A.

Soyeon actually wrote this song because in Korea, there were many men searching 'children nxde or women nxde' so she wrote this for the men because if they search 'nxde' their song will show.
Edit 1: Did you know that the IDLE in (G)I-DLE means children because if you pronounce it (ai-de-ul -aideul) it means children

i dont think anyone has said this yet but your Betty Boop ideas were spot on!! Soyeon's intro and then in the first verse where Minnie says " hello, my name is yeppi yeppi yo" is a direct reference to Betty Boops yippy sounds :)

You girls are right! The overall theme of the comeback is Marilyn Monroe inspired, that one scene is Banksy inspired, while Soyeon's lines at the start and the "Now I draw a luxury nude" line are inspired in Betty Boop's voice!
Also, as a fellow Insomnia and baby Neverland, I really recommend you to see more of them. If you thought you were missing Deukae for a long time; (G)I-DLE wil give you the same feeling. Those two groups are worth it!!

The one in the green dress is shuhua the youngest of them. They write and produce all their songs . And their leader create and produce their concepts. Makeup, dress, nails, Mv scenes. I wish more companies let their groups produce their own stuff. Sometimes it feels the same in the kpop world cause it’s always the same people creating songs to different groups. That’s why idle is so unique. They participate 100% in their songs and mvs.
Youre actually not that far off from Betty Boop. I think she was also part of the inspiration of being objectified and infantilized. Watching and analyzing IDLE MVs always make me feel like I got smarter after. Love me a group that makes banger music but can also get the brain juices flowing.
ALL of IDLE's Title tracks were written and produced by Soyeon and after a while, 2 other members, Minnie and Yuqi, have written and produced for their besides as well. Their last 3 albums have all been written produced by one of the members so they're literally self made.
I'd say most of IDLE's title tracks have a theme of women empowerment and have a deeper meaning. Soyeon said that their albums will be a reflection of their lives and their journeys so there's a story in each one. Some playful and flirty stories, some sad heartbreak stories, some empowering messages and even some deep enough that you can connect to social issues.
All the girls are involved with the concept but Soyeon goes heavy with pitching to her company all the intricacies and has been noted to involve herself with the marketing, production design and even fashion of some of their tracks. They almost seem to have full creative control over their sound, their look and their marketing which is so rare in kpop. As much as I dislike their company CUBE, credit where credit is due in recognizing and trusting the artistic minds of these girls.
Their album names have a pattern, "I AM" "I Made" "I Trust" etc etc because its always going to be about them and their journey.
Cant wait for the deep dive videos! There's a youtube documentary about them that's over an hour long. 2020 guides also by LovinSoojin are the best cuz they were still 6 but its updated enough.
G Idle Nxde is a very nice Change of pace for the group has ever because it showcases more diversity versatility and creative ideas being spectacular

Soyeon is a genuis. the more you watch her stuff the more you understand. It takes us mere mortals multiple views/listens to finally understand the meanings and really appreciate the genius.

From my understanding Soyeon also wanted to help with a problem of inappropriate pictures of minors being popular online because in Korean part of (G)I-DLE gets translated to children so when people look up (g)i-dle nude this song will show up instead of the images. She really thinks about everything when creating songs.

There was a video released of Soyeon presenting her album and concept proposal to the company and the video mainly just showed clips about the intended message message and Marilyn Monroe but if you look in the slideshow, Betty Boop is directly listed as an inspiration.
You should check out (G)-I-DLE’s senior label groups, BTOB & Pentagon…they also don’t have the popular “k-pop” sound and message. BTOB writes songs meant to heal or address various difficulties that are common for humankind (they have become known as “healing idols” for their ballads & other healing songs). Ballad songs: It’s Okay, Way Back Home, Missing You, & Beautiful Pain are their most famous but their varying discography address almost all of life’s issues. I’LL Be Your Man(Pray) is also one of their deep message songs.
Pentagon writes songs that are really deep but disguise it with playful music or seemingly silly lyrics that actually hold deep meaning. Naughty Boy is a quirky song but it references a famous Korean folk tale. It’s always interesting to look up hidden meanings in Cube groups songs because it often surprises me.
Minhyuk, Hyunsik, Ilhoon (now no longer with BTOB) from BTOB & Jinho & Hui from Pentagon were mentors & coaches for SoYeon (and I-DLE members) during her training days and she still seeks advice from them when composing and writing songs. SoYeon also often seeks advice from Eunkwang (BTOB) & Hui (Pentagon) as leaders when she faces a difficult leadership question. I really like how all the current Cube groups seek advice from the other groups members, like a family. It’s unfortunate that a couple of the fandoms choose to make issues or competitions between the groups when none really exist.

Another thing in the music video is that the part where she is standing on a pedestal in a green dress looks like the cover of the book "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo". The book is a historical fiction about a Hollywood movie star and her rise to fame and the criticism she received. Not to mention the author says that Marylin Monroe was one of her inspirations for the book.

(G)I-DLE pronounced the G as recently as Tomboy promos and, IIRC, Nxde as well. I think this is more recent as they've gotten more famous internationally, because otherwise it's too easy to confuse with "idol".
