I think that both focus on the opposite spectrums of a parasocial relationship. In Ditto Heesoo (the girl filming) sees NewJeans as her friends, but that’s not reality. As the MV goes on she realizes that she can’t keep holding on to a relationship that doesn’t exist. She gets in touch with reality by making real life relationships. This is conveyed with the boy. At the end of Ditto Part B, Heesso is older and is reminiscing about how she used to love NewJeans. It’s NewJeans telling us our music will always be there, but live your life because those type of moments you don’t want to miss. In OMG the parasocial relationship is through NewJeans’s perspective. All the things us fans or Bunnies roles we gave them manifests into reality in them. It showcases how fans can impact the idols. This kind of jump from reality is shown with them being in the psych ward. For example, Minji is kind one the mom role in the group and she’s become so in to her role she thinks she’s a doctor helping the girls out when really she’s a patient like the rest of them. Another example is Haerin. Bunnies have said she has cat like characteristics and now she thinks she’s a literal cat because of her feeling like that’s the role she’s stuck in. Hope this makes sense!!
But this video clearly links to the Ditto video and it seems to tie everything into some kind of big story line. I never heard an official explanation of what’s going on and I think the creators wanted to leave it open to interpretation and we have to put the clues together.
Plus for danielle, she was always considered the vitamin D of the group, always happy and bubbly, and it shows in the scene which she laughs hysterically at a broken tv.

Both videos actually speak about fans and idol life...
In ditto, it speaks about the relationship between fans and idols.
In OMG, they talk about mental health about idols... Hanni is currently being called the spoiler girl of the group. But she's very secretive and barely reveals anything but instead talks about other stuff with fans on phoning...just like an iPhone that gives a lot of info but also protects a lot of info.
Hyein being the maknae is regarding as the group's princess and so she starts imagining herself as one.
Danielle is the most extrovert and excited member of the group especially when fans appreciate them and so she gets super excited even on seeing a blank tv.
Haerin is nicknamed a *cat* by fans and so slowly she starts believing herself as one.
Finally minji being the oldest, thinks that she could lead her members back to reality but in the meantime, she herself gets enclosed in the online world

The creative team that have been guiding New Jeans since debut has done a truly INCREDIBLE job. These girls are getting the absolute best support in terms of concept, songs, choreography, styling and "branding". The "Ditto" sides A & B are two absolutely incredible MVs in terms of the concept and artistry of the MV cinematography and direction. The wistful, melancholic and slightly haunting sound/singing supports perfectly the message of the song. It was truly a stroke of inspiration to make this into two MVs, with both MVs needing to be viewed in order to gain the fuller, more deep meaning. The ending of Side A is so heartbreaking when it dawns upon the viewer the darkness that was obscured by the girl's vicarious joy she experienced through her imaginary friendship with New Jeans. For the second MV, the way I interpreted it, was that the girl finally realizes that it is unhealthy for her to live in an imaginary world in which the New Jeans girls are her imaginary friends, and she makes a painful decision to leave her imaginary world and to live in reality (she destroys the camera, walks with the boy, etc.). That is also why the deer walks away in the corridor, as she no longer lives in a fantasy world. Then, years later the adult version of the girl returns to her childhood bedroom reminisces about her past, including the happy memories of her passion for Kpop idols (symbolized by New Jeans). The girl (now a woman) is able to again let New Jeans back into her life in a healthy manner (with the 5 New Jeans girls happily reentering her room), as she is now more grounded and better able mentally to enjoy and reap the benefits of Kpop without the unhealthy obsession that her less mature self fell into. OMG is another masterpiece. Hybe is really doing the best job of supporting a new group that I have ever seen. NewJeans is going to be an incredibly huge and popular group in the future. Hybe wants another group with BTS-level of success, and they are willing to pay a lot of money to hire the best creative team to make NewJeans be a mega-success.

They really are incredible. Clever of them to use the name Ban Heesoo to represent their fans. Simply put, side A is when a fan is starting to snap back to reality and nearing the end of 'stanning' a group, while side B is when they start to actively live in reality. The odd stares from Heesoo's classmates that seem to lead her to drop the camcorder, her running away from NewJeans when her crush sees her, Heesoo watching NewJeans dance at a distance realizing that they still dance happily without her, and her starting to record the crush instead of only paying attention to NewJeans is just so cool. But the scene as she revisits her memories is giving us the message that they will strive to become happy memories for us fans rather than a typical message like we'll be together forever. The deer is apparently supposed to represent the distance between fans and idols where you want to get closer but can't (official).
Just new to it today, but a comment explaining Heesoo's full name (written on her cast?) is phonetically identical to Buneesu or how Koreans would pronounce Bunnies... which is the name of their fandom!

Some people still haven't discovered Ban Heesoo's TH-cam Channel and I swear, it's been a long long time since I've seen such a well thought out and executed marketing strategy for a girl group.
Its hard for any group to achieve BTS level of success but NewJeans are worthy to be called their juniors

OMG is literally about how people label idols and expect them to act accordingly and how idols start becoming what people think they are and then we see fans still doing this by, for example, calling Haerin "our kitty" -_-

they made it so you can interpret the mv in two ways, the parasocial relationship you have with your idols. how you spend your time and your allegiance to your faves but then someone else comes along that makes you open up your heart to them and as a fan of your faves, you feel guilty that you cant devote to them anymore, you finally wake up and realize you gotta touch some grass and make real relationships. The other interpretation is the survivor's guilt theory where the one girl survived a horrific accident and she was the lone survivor (cast on her arm) amongst her group of friends and she cant move on from them until she finally wakes up and realizes they wont come back and she needs to move on and live her life (forming new relationships)
This is the theory that makes the most sense to me.

There comes out conspiracy theory recently in korea that 'OMG' music video implies pseudo in their corporation, HYBE. I think it's becoming a hot topic because it makes sense when you think about the parts that were ambiguous to interpret in the music video. I dont know if its true tho.. but still it make sense about the music video
Hello, the monologue by Hanni at the beginning of OMG feels like a commentary on the expectations that people have of idols and reminding them that idols aren't something that are bought, paid for and designed to meet your whims. They're real people with real emotions just like yours.

This group just debuted about 5 months ago but every release they have is 🤯. They have 4 other songs that are amazing as well - attention, hype boy, cookie, and hurt
Chilling part for me was when Hanni was in the iPhone and she says “Hesso please answer the call”. And in the Ditto video we see Hesso (the girl filming them) crying in a corner and ignoring a call. Also the cat in OMG is the same cat that Hanni was talking to in Ditto. There is so many mysteries and it seems like a big storyline is taking shape. There is also a lot of TH-cam videos that deal with the different theories. There is no official explanation that was issued by the creators.. and they purposely are gonna let the fans try to figure it all out. It is fun trying to puzzle out all the clues.
I’ll just leave with a few things I have been trying to figure out… Why didn’t they show the face of Hesso in the Ditto video and why do they make a point to show the cast a lot? In Ditto there is a chilling scene where four of the girls are standing in a row with their backs to the camera and Hanni is squatting down looking at the camera and winks at it, then the camera glitches. Hanni was the member the other girls put that note on… what did that note say? In the rain scene , only Hesso and Hanni are wearing black… why?
The cat is Haerin, in OMG she tinks she is a cat and in Ditto her friends put her the nicknames Haerin Kitty

@@MegaLuckyLeafy It’s very possible. Hesso has a Twitter account or TH-cam channel and it’s supposedly a part of the lore. Someone who checked that out said there was the footage she took in the music videos along with some creepy footage of an empty school.

NewJeans has taken over kpop with their fresh sounding music & creativity. Literally everyone loves them in Korea & they get tons of plays on spotify around the world because their music is just too good. Yet they just debuted a few months ago about 5-6 months ago.

New Jeans broke records set by Blackpink and even won many awards..yeah a 5-month-old group did that! Their songs went VIRAL all over the world. That's how insanely good their music is! They are a breath of fresh air in kpop. Don't sleep on them and please do react to all their previous releases (they have a total of 6 songs.I recommend you go in this order : Attention,Hype boy, Hurt, Cookie and then their more recent release called "OMG"

I think that ditto represent the relationship between the idol and their fans.Ban heesoo(the girl recording ) represents us and the reason why she only see new jeans on a camcorder or the TV is because that's how we connect to kpop groups we watch them through a screen and we think that we can be friends with them through it and also as we get older we sometimes grow out of kpop and sometimes stop listening to it that represents the deer when ban heeso still believes in new jeans we saw the deer but ever since ban heesoo destroyed the camera and never hang out with new jeans and started dating the boy the deer left which represent youth,pure and innocent ,and when ban heesoo is older we can see her going through old boxes and watching a tape with old memories of new jeans it represent that even tho we grow out of kpop we can still go back and watch the old videos of them and remember the fun times we used to do when we still Stan them and say to our self that we used to listen,stan,and have fun with them

The male actor in "Ditto" is Choi Hyun Wook (from "Twenty-Five Twenty-One" and other K-Dramas). The older male actor from "OMG" is, as one of you pointed out, Kim Joo-hun (who plays Mr. Lee in "Its Okay To Not Be Okay"). So not the same actor...
The first one is about the relationship between fans and idols and how they end up turning into a cherished memory about our childhood. The deer represents growth and the lost of innocence. The girl her name is a play on words with the name of their fandom. The since one although I don't know the official concept I guess is referring to the illusory construction that is made around the hole concept of idols and fandoms and videos and all that where they creat personas that are shown to the fans and after both side adding to it it almost turn into a delusion where that created reality starts feeling real for everyone involved. Is just to show how all this build up and how we need to remember that this illusion has a time to end keep it chill like the show at the end where they say the fan/hater that is time to stop and not take it so seriously now in a very friendly way.
So basically with ditto it has fan theories, but its mainly about like parasocial relationship where yourself feel close to your favorite group or idol. like you are friends with them but not really.
I read thousands of theories about these two MVs, idk which one is true but one thing for sure, these two MVs have broken most Kpop MVs norms in terms of luxury sets, choreography, lightings, big ass setup, top notch camera work etc. These two videos scream "fuck all that", Its just pure, raw footage and a good storyline for us to interpret how we choose to interpret it.
You guys should have definitely watched Attention, Hype Boy, Hurt, and Cookie before this newest release. The OMG ending wont make as great of an impact if you haven't seen the others beforehand.

. While working with the members), Director 'Shiin woo seok' learned how pure, clear, and free spirits they had, and This MV contains the concerns of producer Min Hee-jin and director Shin who are concerned that such things are suppressed and restricted by the evaluation and judgment of others.
This applies not only to NewJeans, but also to ordinary people who are judged by others and live to satisfy them. It's because if you're conscious of others, you're bound to experience a situation where you lose yourself. Hah!
Currently, the second album, Ditto and omg, including their debut songs "Attention," "Hypeboy," and "Cookie," is the most popular group and song in Korea and around the world. Newjeans is changing the history of girl groups and changing the trend.

Does anyone feel like Minji being the doctor and guiding them and basically she’s the leader of the group and will make sure everyone is always together.
So my theory is that the three videos have a more meta concept then what we typically see and that the three videos explore different aspects of celebrity and the kpop industry.
Side A imo is a fan side parasocial relationship the use of the camera is a replacement for us consuming content Dance Practices etc through technology. Heeso only interacts with him at the camera isnt there as though her attention is on the real world.
Side B: I think is about the conflict between the online relationship with Idols and the Real world typically that at times the real world takes priority but that your relationship to your favourite idols always exists and you can return (thus the ending when they say they havent been there in a while) the videos are memories imo in this interpretation.
OMG(Working theory):I believe each girl embodies an aspect of the industry in general for better or worse.
Hanni(iphone): I believe this interpretation is about the way in which idols interact with fans through various mediums in order to have a career similar to an iphone you consume there music through Apple Music or Spotify, Watch Videos on different platforms and can interact with idols on apps such as Weverse or Phoning(New Jeans App)
Hyein(Princess): I believe this representative of how people treat idols to some extent in real life that your lauded and put on a pedistal like a princess or royal figure.
Haerin(Cat): I believe this a commentary on the fact that alot of idols are given a representative animal based on traits they exhibit or behaviour.
Danielle(4th Wall): I believe this is a comentary on the fact that there really isnt a time when an Idol isnt an Idol and that can feel like your always maintaining an image e.g. Alway shooting a video.
Minji(Doctor): I believe she is meant to represent the PD’s and Executives or companies supposedly seperate but also not really.
I do think OMG is intended to feel out of control as a way to express how crazy the industry truly is that it might appear to be normal but that it is in fact this barely contained thing that has all this stuff going on all the time.
Neways thats how I interpreted it but I would stress there are PLENTY of other theories out there and this is just mine and may very well be wrong but I hope that helps.

The DITTO music video is a story that tells the story of the relationship between an idol and a fan.
Idols who were my favorite friends and idols in the past.. But as I get older, because of studies and love, idols are getting farther away from my priorities.
Do you have all the beautiful memories you had with stars in the past?
OMG MV IPHONE = IDOL. It will be easier to understand if you change the OMG MV Hani's "I was an iPhone" to "I was an idol."
It is said that the music video director made it with the hope that the pure appearance of New Jeans will not be forgotten in the stereotypical framework of idols created by the public over time.
Kess’ Ditto theory is the same as mine, but I think it’s super open to interpretation and can fit a lot of theories (like the parasocial relationship one, or just generally coming of age/loss of innocence/feeling lonely vibes). If you want to make it even more fun, Ador has made extra videos of the girl filming the New Jeans members (Ban Heeseo) as if she has her own “TH-cam” channel! There’s some intriguing and honestly kinda creepy “videos” from “1998”.. so invested in their lore.
I love how self-aware this group's concept is.
Like, the m/vs show the negative sides of the idol-fan relationship.
It can be meaningful & sweet, but it can also damage the life of the people involved.

the other girl in the Ditto mv is just a character for the plot, her name in the plot is Heeso, she’s played by Park Jihoo who also plays Onjo in All of Us Are Dead and Inhye in Little Women, both on Netflix. and the guy in the Ditto mvs is also a pretty popular actor, his name is Choi Hyunwook, he’s been in Twenty-Five Twenty-One on Netflix and Weak Hero Class 1

OMG song is an R&B hip-hop song that blends the sounds of drums, percussion, electronic dance and trap music. who takes care of Newjeans members, he is actor Kim Joo Hun who plays in the drama Big Mouth (2022) appears as a cameo.

28:01 - and it could probably also be that it’s a parallel universe or something where they day dream of each other or one universe where ditto happens and they something happened to them and that’s how they lost there memory and ended in the mental hospital.
It's funny because the actor you're talking about in the OMG music video (Kim Joo-Hun), is actually the publisher in "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" that you're currently watching. I was wondering if you would recognize him lol
I love how they have multiple music videos for their songs. They do a performance music video of them dancing, and then they do a more traditional music video with a storyline. I think with Ditto, it's teling a story of fans and how they latch on to idols and feel as if they really know them.
BUT I also think that was just the deeper meaning, but what actually happened is that they died in an accident and the one filming is the one who survived, and is trying to move on, but feels stuck. She eventually is able to move on, and when she's older she's able to watch the old videos and feel happy and not just sad. I don't think OMG is connected to Ditto at all. I don't think it's a continuation of Ditto. Well, I just noticed in the beginning of OMG when she's talking about being an iPhone, she wrote, "Heesoo, please answer the call", and the girl filming in the Ditto videos is named Heesoo. So maybe I was wrong. Lmao. I'm so confused.

In OMG I feel like the member believing they are different things represents what the fans see them as for example haerin is known in the fandom for resembling a cat for her cat eyes, hyein is known for her beauty and her modeling career minji as the oldest member she is like the stereotype mother and caring of the group so I think they represent how idols sort of try to become what their fans want them to become and sort of loose themselves on the way. As for Danielle She is maybe only identifying herself as an idol and is the only things she can think about.

Hanni - Her's was explicitly outline, she believes she is Siri or an iPhone. Basically, she believes she is a device meant to best service others.
Minji - She believes herself to be a doctor, trying to cure the other members and putting them all in an ambulance, but also herself. We she this when she walks up to 'herself,' squatting on the road, and puts herself in the ambulance taking all the girls to the hospital. Maybe she is taking on the burden of finding cures, or comfort for other.
Hyein - She is depicted as thinking of herself as a princess, or a character from fictional books. We see this as she is presented in the role of a modern-day Cinderella, while Danielle plays her Prince Charming. We see Danielle wooing Hyein, and then then the clock, or in this case Apple watch, striking 12 and Hyein runs away in a subway 'carriage.' We also see her depicted as Snow White, who eats a poisoned apple and then wakes up not to a prince but a bear. Maybe this combines the Goldilocks story, where Goldilocks steals the bears bed. Hyein seems to have regret for this decision, as she looks at a teddy bear forlornly later.
Haerin - She is very aptly playing a cat. She seems to think of herself as one, as in one seen all the other four girls gaze at a cat, and she can later be seen eating what I think is cat food as the other members again watch on.
Danielle - We first see Danielle laugh and point at a TV playing static. This sets her up, for later in the video where she is revealed to have the delusion of thinking she is NewJeans or an idol. There are lots of other fun things to interpret in the video, but I think it is essentially trying to send the message that in a digital age we are desperately trying to connect to others, but we do so through fake personas and identities, failing then to form real relationships.

the ditto theory is that the video about the life of fans and idol. the girl that record newjeans is us (fans). it's like how we see idol on screen that they're there on the screen but not like there physically. it's like the nostalgic feeling like how we liking idol when we a little but started to forget about them and move on continuing with life. and we try to remember it when we're adult by watch the video again (source Jordan Orme)

The surreal elements of independent films makes you wonder what imminent danger they might be dealing with. Artistic imagery added to peppy vocals is carving them a special place. I mean, you can just watch them dance & sing on a live stage. How about in the MV,... some film art???
This MV is a metaphor for relation between a teenager and idols. The girl with camcorder see the idols through it and feel to cozy like that she share the every moments with them whatever they're in a rainy or sunny days in her childhood. (Camcorder means media). But as older as she get, her interests are far from them and finally she dropped it from the roof of building. It means that she got grown as an adult.. but it's not a sad story.. the deer's eyes mean her innocence in her childhood so the memories of her innocent memories will not disappear. They will be the part of her life in the childhood..IMO.

As I bet you both already read from the comment section about what the first mv means, I wanna add up to what was the meaning behind heesoo being erased at the end of the side A mv. Since the mv represents the idea of fans forgetting to be themselves because they get too hooked up on idols, the end part shows the idol erasing the fan, since that person is not being herself any more, aka not existing any more.

the girl who was filming them is called ban heeseo and they actually made a youtube channel of her called ban heeseo with no profile pic and with the clips she filmed... it's cool and creepy bc it feels super realistic, and the videos have the supposed date on it like 1998718 (like this)
I think the girl represent the type of person who are socially awkward, isolated and couldn’t make any friends when they younger. Maybe even get bullied at school. Her loneliness let her imagining a group of good friends always be with her and make her happy. So she was living in her dream. And she saw the boy she had crushed on, and realised it is time to get back to reality, she was struggled and hesitated cuz she had so much ‘good memories’ with her imagination friends that they always there so support her in the past. But in the end she break through and let go. So she crushed the camera 🎥. When she get older, she get back to her room, open up the box and review all the stored memories she had with ‘those friend’. She can memorise it with smile on now, she really grow up. This is a really deep story I almost cry.

If BTS is famous worldwide for reasons that make them super special to their fans, then New Jeans is deservedly the group to take the torch that BTS lit. This is truly lightning hitting twice, in the same spot, for HYBE Entertainment. I can believe that they were able to create a group like BTS, but to do it twice and create New Jeans?! Absolutely bonkers! New Jeans is the direction all of k-pop will eventually turn to. What an incredibly talented monster rookie group.

Edit: Ok just heard ur theory towards the end that the character this actor plays may be the adult version of the male teen in the Ditto MV; he grew up and is working in the psych ward. When we see him crouched in the corner dazed, ur theory is that may be he's coming to the realization that the group of patients he's caring for now is the same group of girls his friend from school (the girl with the camcord in Ditto) had talked about and he's somewhat at a loss upon this new understanding cause then it means the highschool camcord girl in Ditto really talked about real people (NewJeans), but nobody else could see them (in Ditto).
