Of course I simply have to thank Galnet for the shoutout at the very beginning, but that's the least of the praise I will heap on this masterpiece of a video. For those who truly love this game and the narrative it continues to embrace us in we are in your debt for compiling this continuing history in one convenient place for reference.
Nobody says that "there is no lore", what some people are complaining about is that there's no clear-cut, directed story for the player, like a campaign. Lore and that are two very different things.
I know this comment is made on most videos, but sincerely feel the need to reiterate it here in this longer format: Your video captures are truly amazing - the angles, the editing, the scope of them all. Thank you ever so much for all your amazing content - enjoying this "Full History" muchly!!
I usually consume the videos from this channel by listening to them while I drive my long route to work, but after listening to the first 5 minutes, it is crystal clear that this merits sitting down and watching with a dedicated focus. Absolutely love this format
I am a new pilot, its only been a few months since I 'got my wings'. The lore present in the Codex has always enticed me and since all I do is explore, a lot of my time travelling between systems is spent on replaying the entries inside it (along with Galnet articles) and all of it really makes me go - "wow, this universe is so cool". Thanks for making it a lot more cooler. o7
Every minute of this fantastic synopsis was fascinating, as an old player returning after some time this has been an excellent reintroduction to the Thargoid conflict. Thank you all for your great work!
I rarely come to be able to spend an entire hour on watching a video, these days. Today, life decided to give me the time to watch such a long video and I have to say, I chose wisely. This was well-spent time.
Wasn't expecting this special feature, fantastic work. It's been really informative for someone like me who only became a CMDR in the last couple of years.
This is a fantastic video. Such a walk down memory lane, I honestly forgot a lot of the older events and sites. I don't play Elite much due to life changes, but I will always remember my times in the galaxy fondly. Thanks for putting this together, I'd love to see more long form history recaps ❤
This was simply excellent. Quite possibly the most comprehensive summary of nefarious activities in the galaxy ever produced. My friends ask me why I still play Elite. My response is now simply to share the link to this video. o7
I feel like the holidays just came early! This is amazing work, and absolutely worth the time. I know this most have been a tremendous amount of work, but I hope we get to see more long form, in depth coverage like this in the future. Living through a lot of this and having visited most of the locations and participated in most of the major current events, you lose track of just how much has happened. I'd forgotten about so much of this, though other bits are positively burned into my memory. Much, much appreciated! The lack of in depth coverage like this in the galaxy makes me miss Sagittarius Eye.
I've watched this three times through already. Very well done, especially for someone like me who is relatively new to the game. I didn't know 90% of the history you shared.
Brilliant video, I had stepped away from elite over the last 2 years so I'd missed most of the storylines but now I'm returning to playing, this is a perfect way to catchup
Thanks for this! As a new to ED player, this helped me catch up on a lot of lore! I hope you will offer more things like this, especially with the changes coming to galaxy.
I needed this. Unfortunately I missed the most interesting period of time ever in elite because my PC burned out and had to save up for a new one. Finally got logged in again last week just in time to see the aftermath.
I hereby rescind every petty complaint I've lodged about Elite not having a story, or updates being "just a text file." It's more than that regardless, but it's so MUCH more than that because of its community, and dedicated channels like this one. Thank you for helping me finally see that, and give the creatives at fdev the love they deserve. ❤
I´ve been away from the Galaxy for extended break but wanted to get myself some summary of what happened. Thank you, this si great. PS. Gosh I wish Frontier made smaller story driven spin-off Elite game.
Im still thinking the titans and hive ships are two separate entities. Hive ships were Thargoid cities. The titans seem to just be about collecting materials. We will see how wrong that thought is going further. I think the hive ships from old lore are still hiding in the col 70 sector systems.
Could well be. I notice one of the voiced logs had "hive ship" replaced with "mothership", presumably after the voice had been recorded. So they may be separate entities.
@@whendarknessfalls6969 it is funny to look at like that but that's basically what's goin on. The barnacles and their forests, the matrix sites and the titans, even dropping mats in front of the calmer goids outside of the Thargoid war systems will cause them to come and pick it up before they leave. They are collecting supplies for something. Always thought they were gearing up to move in the hive ships from the old lore. I.e. The other three games and the books that goes with them.
i know this is centered on azimuth, but i honestly would have find it interesting to see parts added, even very short ones, also on the existing human resistance against The Witch, and some even taking the side of thargoids, avancing that they are in reality protectors and no aggressors, a bit about Palin and Ram Tah who had their importance too into all that and their divergent points of view, the "infos" (delivered by ram tah and his need of money for his researches on guardians tech) on thargoids and their possible motives of visceral hatred against the guardians and their technology, that makes them attack the ships and stations, all without exception found in possession of that kind of technology, and so possibly be taken for guardians by mistake, which could have brought to the fact that the Kingfisher has clearly volontary been set up with guardian tagged things in its cargo to be destroyed at the arrival of Taranis. maybe a bit on the Far God cult and the guardian AI, and of course a little bit more about the possible project Nemesis, more about the fact (i liked that you talked a little bit on it) that since their return, and without guardian stuff involved, human commanders actually had pacifist contacts, interactions and exchanges with them, they didn't killed any humans completely freely just in mean to kill, and so on these human interactions with their techs, which lead also ingame to small puzzles to be solved and understand to know their short term intentions. more about the humans invading and colonising their already claimed space in nebulas and pleiades, and of course a note on the new and surprising hybrid thargoid guardian artifacts. I anyway loved this reminder video, like every one of your videos released almost each day, you always really do a great work on them, and i undertand that if you had to talk about every single little point of the vast story and lore of elite, just on azimuth, thargoids and guardians that video would have last more like 4 hours and been way too long. thank you 💚
Yes, we could have included so much more. I'm hoping to follow up with more longer-form videos in due course. The Far God Cult and the Guardians are potential subjects!
@@GalnetDigest oh nice, would be awesome :) and i personnally like this long format very much, i find that there is kind of a "webserie like" vibe into these stories plus your great narration skill
54:07 I don’t know why, but the list after this sentence of “they could now disable ships that have guardian tech onboard, and they were angry” just makes me imagine a hand from beyond a screen hastily drawing silly angry eyebrows on a static image of a Thargoid interceptor

You can certainly visit all the sites in the video description though a few of these events- like the timer on hyfords cache - were time limited, and a few megaships that were key to the story are now in more pieces than at the start.
Is it correct that 8 out of 9 Titans were destroyed and there is only 1 left? Will this mean I won't ever be able to battle Thargoids after that event? I'm still starting with my mining Python mk1 and don't feel like I can fight right now.
Seven out of eight have been destroyed. Have a look here: dcoh.watch/ I'm fairly sure there will still be Thargoids to fight afterwards - go to the bulk carriers Deciat or Maia, for example. They are less aggressive in these locations.

what a cool history/recap on the events around the thargoids. as always super entertaining :D
Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed it.
Their rules of engagement were "shoot first, ask questions later" if you were carrying guardian cargo.
Yes. The Guardians are the old enemy, and any Guardian tech means automatic hostility.
