I am going to really miss this year. Compared to the last five years or so, 2024 has been one of the best years ever for me. Thanks for putting together this recap, by the way.
Hopefully 2025 will be even better. 2024 was one of the best years of ED, but still I think we should get bigger features. Colonization is next. I hope also for some improvement to atmospheric planets - current ones lack any atmosphere - no depth of field fog or similar things which would happen around 0.05 atmosphere
@ I don’t just mean for ED. I mean for life in general. This was the best year I’ve had ever since Covid began, with a ton of self-improvement and new experiences. I’ll say this, though, I hope they find a way to allow Apex shuttles to and from Fleet carriers.
Being a participant in the Battle of Sol, having run countless evacuation runs, aiding in fending off the Thargoids at stations around Sol, and finally making numerous bombing runs on the Titan Cocijo, this was truly one of the most memorable years ever for ED. I had not participated in any other Titan battles prior to this, but the call to defend humanity was to great! Shout out to the AXI group for helping coordinate the battle and providing the tactics needed to succeed. Glory, to Mankind!
New player for just over 15 days, but I love the lore, and the immersion of being there in the middle. I would use this summary to see what has happened before starting my cmdt career. Thank you💯
Welcome, CMDR! Wow, you picked an amazing time to join the galaxy. o7! ("o7" is an emotion of a person's head and their arm saluting, and has become a common greeting/closing in our community. It's even used in game by air traffic control.)
Loved the part where it sounded like you were about to burst into laughter describing the subsurface displacement missiles! Had me grinning! Around 10:25
pre engineered sco and engineer material grind being fixed this year probably have been the best quality of life updates in elite ever, hope the devs continue doing stuff like this
This is the definitive chronicle of an amazing turnaround year for Elite and my favourite series of gaming and lore spectacles ever. Thanks for your amazing digests and summaries - they add so much to the enjoyment!
I world day that there are no words to describe what this year has been like, bit you actually just assumed it up really well. Thanks for all of your hard work in keeping us connected to the galaxy and not needing to read the news ourselves. 😂 That closing gave me chills.
I've discovered your work and your channel a few months ago, and I have to say it's a pleasure to follow you. You are the link between us and the game, by allowing all of us to understand and know what is going on inside the Elite Dangerous Universe. Also, the way you present informations remind me a lot about the news feed in a old series named Babylon 5, which was one of my favorites. Thanks a lot for your work, and I wish you a very good year !
thank you cmdr pub & cmdr I want as my covas voice for your brilliant coverage thru 24 look 4ward to listening to you both makinking thegame more livable hugs both & happy new year
37:06 I wonder if the humans in this image might be referring to those that the thargoids abducted. Perhaps it's alluding to some of humanity being, as was said in the video, "sleeper agents" .
It's undoubtedly been a good year for Elite. So much so that I decided to dive in again after a long sabbatical. Trouble is there's still some basic features that are frustratingly broken. I wasted 2 hours just trying to move materials about between my Carrier to Ship to my Backpack so I could finally try some on foot engineering. It turns out that what I was missing was in order to move stuff from my Carrier to Ship then to my Backpack, I first had to fly in supercruise outside the range of my Carrier. Otherwise my Backpack did not exist. Absolutely stupid it was. I gave up in the end. They just can't be arsed to fix the little things. Instead they'd rather frustrate you. I'll try again in a year.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair." It was 3310
I mean, the evacuation of Sol was a travesty, a complete one. My Type 9 has 784t of cargo. If we put 10 people per ton, it is 7840 people per trip, and it was a trip, my maximum passengers capacity was around 400 all economy. I mean, I'm not saying the should have released a new "Emergency Passengers Transport" to carry and save as many as possible. The trip was like 15ly, not 3000. And please for the love of God, study something to avoid being interdicted in hyperspace if are tinkering with FSDs, even a experimental solution
Happy New Year! Here's to a new computer for me in 2025! (I was a console player... missed playing the whole invasion story).😢 Elite series is hands down, my favorite game(s). Dangerous maybe the best game ever made, imo.
I once again take umbridge with the conciet that my fathers "protues wave" device failed, it worked perfectly fine, uploading his massive ego into the guardian monolith network, hes still just... processing
31:13 How are battlecruisers taken off-guard when aliens took a week to get there? Elite writers are so bad sometimes. Plot holes, plot armor, plot suck.
Please, a new procedural planet generation system, and a 3rd person camera PLEASE!!! Elite Dangerous is probably the only space game that doesn't have a 3rd person camera.
Some people like me cant afford to build or buy a pc. And half of the playerbase is still on the legacy version. Frontier will probably never fix this issue
While I'd like to keep it to myself, but what needs to be said needs to be said, so I'm humbly and patiently hoping that for every time they call the SCO drive a "SKO" drive, that they stub their toes on corners of furniture, or step on tiny lego pieces, just to feel what I feel whenever they mispronounce the SCO drives name
All who are behind galnet news: Thank you for the news and making Elite more immersive. You’ve been a vital part of my joy!
My thoughts exactly!

Me too it's like the year everything just started going right finally. Wishing you a good new year.
@@MrDuceOwen right back at you.

Thank you Cmdrs Wotherspoon and Beetlejude for the updates over the last year, it's been a blinder! o7

Bravo! Glory, to Mankind!
Thank you for a year of reading the news and entertaining us independent CMDRs. Much love and hope for an even better 3311.
Loved the part where it sounded like you were about to burst into laughter describing the subsurface displacement missiles! Had me grinning! Around 10:25
love this channel. getting live news updates like this makes it all feel so much cooler
Thank you so much for putting these videos out - they always make for excellent viewing o7

Thanks for a fantastic year of news articles! I love this channel, it gives so much life to the game.
I don't even play the game actively anymore, still listening to this news, since it's so good.
Thanks Galnet ND for years of service o7

A brilliant year and a brilliant summary of the year. Thankyou and Happy New Year. Here’s hoping for even more news to report on next year.
Happy New Years, CMDRs. O7
Excellent reporting! (as always)
thank you cmdr pub & cmdr I want as my covas voice for your brilliant coverage thru 24 look 4ward to listening to you both makinking thegame more livable hugs both & happy new year
That was some very good story telling. Thank you and have a Happy New Year.

Sorry for the torpedo against your hull a few weeks ago :3
Galnet News: you digest the news, so we don't have to !
❤
That was an EXCELLENT presentation!
Wolf 359 being invaded sounds like frontier trying to make a Star Trek reference
37:06 I wonder if the humans in this image might be referring to those that the thargoids abducted. Perhaps it's alluding to some of humanity being, as was said in the video, "sleeper agents" .
Things sure got quiet after Cocijo fell
Humans and peace relate like fish and marathons.
There'll be a new war or a regurgitation of an old one. No worries. ;)
Let's hope for something new.
We had our own reaper invasion

o7 CMDRS! To another decade of space and peace!
Missed the chance for “SCO from the go” pun.
But what about the important news . I completed the Canonn Challenge! Pah! Call yourselves journalists!
great year!
That sums it all up very well. Great Job GND o7

16:00 Does that mean the Panther Clipper is now in the trash can for ever? Oh well, still kinda sad
Absolutely nothing happened in 3310 😏 A great summary of all the nonevents of the year. o7
I still hope that the Guardians make a return.
I once again take umbridge with the conciet that my fathers "protues wave" device failed, it worked perfectly fine, uploading his massive ego into the guardian monolith network, hes still just... processing
great job. have a haPPY new year all the best for 2025
So that's why the paint jobs and ship kits seem overpriced are base.
The year of the Nokia
3. Sirius bad
5. This plan might just work
we trusted our life to these people..
Can I sue them for my blown up ship after it overheat using the SCO?
I doubt it. You ignored every warning your COVAS gave you, which means you knew what you were up to.
A lot better summary than yamik's rant over his own misconceptions
31:13 How are battlecruisers taken off-guard when aliens took a week to get there?

It already has one

noice
o7 commanders.
Not a complete failure, if alienating a third of the playerbase was the intention of fdev !
Well, there was enough other stuff to do. Noone forced you to take part of the fight.
What exactly do you do that you feel alienated from everything that happened this year
