    Great to see plumbing as it is,not too many fancy tools,not trying to win awards for perfect soldering,dropping your tools between joists,overcoming obstacles,absolutely how it is,I’ve been there mate.But please put a hammer through that smoke alarm😂

I know you won’t see it when the floor is back down but you know it’s a proper job and made to last. This one is a big job, I look forward to the next episode. Have a good weekend and take care. Great vid as usual Tom, Have You ever considered using hot and cold manifolds instead of T-ing in? It's nice to have one point of isolation for all outlets while still giving individual isolation, I guess it all depends on having a suitable place to mount them and it involves a slightly different thought process in planning out, but with more and more installations having studded out pre-walls it becomes more of a viable option.

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes mate, I have used them in the past on some new build flats, they were fantastic as like you say every outlet can be isolated individually, It would have been hard to implement on this job but some jobs they are ideal, thanks for watching as always, it is greatly appreciated 👍

    Also, this series nicely shows the importance of taking time to plan things out and the payoff you get by doing so.

    Tom, my fellow water monger, this is my first comment on your chanel. I'm commenting from South Africa. I'm a registered plumber on this side of the world and the things we do are different to the way things are done your side of the globe. I'm pretty sure we would have a super interesting conversation when comparing how different some of the plumbing systems are.
    You're a star mate , absolutely love watching your content...trust me your efforts are worth it, stay as humble as you are, it's truly refreshing seeing a plumber with as much humility as you posses.

    Always great to see a new video from you I replaced my rads recently with soldered 15mm pipework instead of the 10mm pushfit it was done in. As I’ve not done plumbing for 15 years it leaked from a fitting really need to practice soldering again I do drainage now rather then plumbing!!! Also great to see someone else with a flat cap on not enough younger people wear them.

    Hi Tom, really enjoyed this vid. I'm allways amazed why plumbers pipe 3/4 of the way in 22 then reduce down to 10 , surely it would make sense to go from 22 to 15 to the rads? Was it a cost saving measure or time? Can I just ask which lazer level you use mate, I really need to upgrade my pathetic one. Thanks again Rob

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      10mm is often used to save chopping in to walls on drops, it fits nicely behind the dot and dab walls so is used for speed really, I don't like it, especially plastic as the inserts reduce the pipe diameter more and is prone to blocking. I use the bosche 360 laser level, If I'm honest it's not the best purely because it takes batteries and is not re-chargeable. The line is very clear but for the money I paid there are probably far better ones on the market

    Well done lad terrific work as always. I am finding more and more when first fixing that it is actually easier in copper as you can bring the pipes out exactly where you want them keep it neat and you don't have to clip it to death like plastic. Especially when you are on your own. Plus it looks class and is very satisfying when all in. All the work is in the prep the pipe work is fun.

    One ☝️ more good tip for you to respect all trades and get them out of trouble , mark the pipe work runs , for a carpet layer, you don’t want them to mess up your hard work 😅😂 and on a hot water run try to put some lagging between the notches, to prevent the noise , from expansion, clients always notice little things like that after all works are done

    How do you size the hot water supply for an invented cylinder do you have max runs for 15mm etc?

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot depends on your water pressure and flow rate coming into the property, as a very general rule of thumb 22mm will should feed a couple of baths running at the same time, obviously the flow rate will drop but the cylinder should cope with this, I can do a video explaining a bit more in the future, thanks for watching mate

    • @PlumbLikeTom

      It's just my preference really, the end feed fittings bucket with 180 fittings cost around £62, pressing is faster but soldering is not slow when you get going, I'm not saying I could do it quicker but I can really rattle it in when I get set up.

    • @PlumbLikeTom

      The lowest we will be able to run the boiler at will be 60 on this site, the cylinder needs a temperature probe fitting at the top which must be at 60 for legionnaires, unfortunately oil boilers don't have the ability to modulate or increase temperature just for the hot water circuit like some systems now can on gas, I will get the flow temperature as low as possible to try and make it as efficient to run as possible , thanks for watching as always mate 👍

    For the Central Heating, I’d always do a Heat Loss calculation on a project of that nature. You really need to know the Emitter sizes & Room Temperatures for each individual room.
    Also, the optimum Flow Rate & Temperature for the boiler being fitted.
    The temperatures, Delta T & Flow Rates have a huge bearing on the Pipe Size & their heat carrying capacity.
    The design aspect for lots of Plumbers can be daunting, but it needn’t be. There’s lots of Apps & Software out there to help you design the system.
    Great insightful video demo mate.

      Thanks for the support as always, to be honest I'm notbas clued up on the design aspect of heat loss as I probably should be, I do use a few of the paid for apps for sizing radiators and have always used the heating compliance guide for pipe sizing, I'm hoping to get the flow temperature of the boiler set to 60, I will need to check the sizes of the radiators downstairs as most of these are remaining untouched apart from new trvs, thanks for the support as always, it is greatly appreciated 👍

      A 15mm Tube, in some cases, can connect more than 3 Radiators!! All depends on the Flow Rates, Temperatures, Radiator sizes & Delta T. Of course, run length is also a consideration.
      Many factors in selecting Tube sizes, which clearly you don’t consider.
      That’s why there’s so many ‘Washer Changers’ like you in this Trade, spending more time down the Pub, than leaving a good job.
