  • Back on site with the cart lodge build. A little faffing and then some first fix plumbing. I previously would do everything in copper and solder the joints but things have moved on this days and its all about poly pipe and push fittings. Here I use some John Guest fittings, and with a name like that surely they are going to be reliable right? I've also done the first fix electrics so talk you through what I've done to make sure I'm within regulations.
    Thanks for watching!

The push fit plastic plumbing fittings are certainly quick and easy to use, unfortunately I have had a problem with a certain type of them. One type allows you to just unscrew the end just a couple of turns and the other can be unscrewed completely. It was the second type I had problems with, two underfloor leaks where the end had unscrewed completely ( maybe through vibration is the only thing I can think of? ) So in future I would only use the captive type ones.

That sounds like a nightmare! Yeah the John guest ones unscrew a certain amount unless your force it more to undo completely. The polyplumb ones I used before undo completely but with the serrated washer thing the pipe stays put unless you use a special tool to undo them or a coke can cut up and slid in

Aiden, check out these two Tubers for anything and everything electrical, John Ward and CJR Electrical (if you haven't already). They've been proper useful filling in the knowledge gaps when it comes to LX work. John Ward is like a college tutor but his explanations are first class without being patronising. CJR is such a Professional at his craft and his vids and tips are priceless.
Thanks for the mention but unnecessary. Great vid today.

Another great video. I am just wondering, with all that foil, are you having to Earth bond it like you would pipework? :-)

Thanks. Just had to double check 😂 apparently no it doesn't need bonding. You only need to bond metallic water and gas pipes 🤷‍♂️
