this part of Alpha and shadow part really hit me hard in the light novel while I was able to commend shadow's dedication to his role as john smith....seeing it from Alpha's perspective as someone who really cares for shadow and wants to understand and help him but the person himself never seeming to care about it really hit hard especially as he is their strength to survive
Gonna be honest... This battle was better in the manga. Don't get me wrong, its beautiful in the anime - but it doesn't have the same weight as the manga. In the manga, she demasks Cid, revealing his identity, proves to him that she has grown strong and they have a 'sweet' moment. I loved her last line as well - 'There you go.. turning your back on me again.' It just felt complete.
Honestly i think the anime redeems cid more than the light novel since the anime after shows why cid started this whole thing. Though honestly I feel that shadow garden shpuld know that shadow has his own ambitions that may not always align with theirs. The anime even shows how Cid was originally gonna work closely with them amd have fun but since the shades had left him he decided to move on his own while allowing shadow garden to keep itself busy.
Let's Go! For anyone who recognizes the anime at 13:44, it was a good speech about being left behind and struggling with understanding and supporting the protagonist. It's actually my favorite moment similar to when Alpha expresses trying to catch up and understand. Still, it never being enough to follow Shadow even as real support made me think of that anime scene too. Nice, AniNews Nice!
LOL...Cid and Delta skit always a top tier on this series. Cant wait for the next one when they about to confront Gettan and the story of the Delta tribe.
Its funny because this arc is the one that shows how much cid cares about the girls , but the anime just kinda glosses over it. When he initially meets with the fox girl in the manga and finds out about the trade war his first thought is hell yeah mystery man mucking things uo , but that is immediately followed by " oh crap the girls are in a tight corner, i need to help them" Everyone seems to think cid doesnt care about ahadow garden but thats untrue hes just so damned chunni that instead of wanting to make them like him as the oppoosite sex he wants them to think hes cool, hell half of the setup he does for meeting the girls is solely for that reason. Its beyond me how so many people miss that especially since he hings at it multiple times , " I try to keep the things i care about to a minimum but there are always more popping up" refering to the shadow gardens recruitment. Nit to mention that each of the seven shadows and even a few if the numbers have a story about cid taking time to tuck them into bed, or read them stories, or just tell them stuff about his former world, all akwardly tucked into chunni excuses for doing it. Hell the one time the girls face a threat they cant handle (no spoilers) cid gets pissed
I wish the anime had that acknowledgment of how strong Alpha is and how Shadow truly respects that. Just seeing him tell her how much she's grown is very touching. However, seeing Alpha crumble and have an emotional breakdown just hurts. It is just another moment of another character being so genuine in their behavior that Cid's naivety can be a little grating at times. I get the theme of the show, but I wish at least with those close to him such as Alpha there would be some element of him that shows he cares. I am aware he cares for them, but that is meta-knowledge. A lot of the care these characters see from him is made up in their own heads. I much rather see that to some degree seeing Alpha cry because of him bothers him if only a little. Yeah, he'd still have the same ending, but showing that her pain means something to him would indeed say something about the friendship he fostered with the Seven. I dunno. Seeing Alpha in emotional pain is just something I feel deserves more than what we got. Especially since we're unlikely to see a situation like that again. Even if he knocked her out Vegeta style when she knocked out Kid Trunks in the Buu arc. Something that just says, I care about you, but I am doing this my way. Telling her she grew strong hits, but it just wasn't enough. I honestly, don't think it'd ruin the nature of Cid's character at all to have something more when it comes to the Seven or his sister. Delta is perfect. That is all I can say about her. I like the way the anime, LN, and manga handled it. I can't pick which one I liked better.
so I already seen and read everything of this series, but somehow your content is still entertaining... thanks dude, it must be something with how you say it.
Same here. I actually prefer too, being able to hear Alpha's hurt feelings and reaching out to him. I legit feel so bad for her this episode. And Delta is still best girl. Love every scene with her.
@@jimmyh2137 When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace. It is an anime that is both epic and cringe at the same time. I was just happy I was not the only one who made the connection between Hatako and Alpha rant, though Hatako's was much more intense.
I enjoyed the Anime's portrayal of their difference in power. Between him and Alpha. Where the anime makes it clear that even without his slime magic he can still dominate the fight. That even if they close the gap in power and skill, his expertise and knowledge still far exceeds theirs that he'll turn your new found power against you. Then with Delta, Cid lowering his guard and getting too close that Delta easily sniffed him out was too good. His overconfidence only to get revealed was perfect. Also thanks for doing this, some of the comments on some videos had me believing I was missing a lot.
that's one HELL of a difference and I actually find the anime version with the non-stop train (very reminiscent to mugen train lol) to be WAAAY better executed! bravo on the studio!
At around 6:26 you can see (what I believe) where Cid got the bit of hair used to prove Delta's defeat. Was cut up during the initial bout with the string.
Cid used perfumes to hide his scent this just wasn't explained in the anime where it wasn't until Delta was pinned down and he got close enough for her to smell him properly that she realised.
Regarding Alpha pleading with Cid, I had the same exact thought. It felt just like that scene from InoBato! It was amazing! Alpha's VA's performance was fantastic, nearly rivaling the Hatoko's. Wish we had gotten more of that series...
Alpha is a descended from the Legendary Hero, so it makes sense she could be Cid's equal or Better. But I assume Cid as John Smith was still holding back.
I disagree with the people saying the anime didn't do the scene justice. I think the anime did an amazing job, and the people disagreeing aren't looking at it from the perspective of Cid's character, and instead a typical protagonist's. Cid, especially in the anime, is a very obvious larper. He creates a character and attempts to stick to it. That's who he is. He does it every arc in the series. He's also extremely unaware of the world around him, he doesn't want to nor does he believe that any of the events that transpire involving Shadow Garden are any more than his friends playing with him. In the anime, he never breaks the John Smith character, while Alpha is actively managing to hurt him and overrun his defenses, he manages to figure out the weakness to the form and abuse it to defeat her. This is entirely in character for Cid, as he always pursues a "perfect victory" matching his goals. In the LN (Ignore the manga, the anime is based off the LN and the manga is its own thing loosely following the LN) the John Smith facade is broken because Cid is unable to exploit her weakness to a meaningful degree. Had the scene taken place on a train in the other mediums, this result would have happened. As for the "You've grown strong", I don't think its in character for Cid, especially since he has yet to realize that this is anything more than larping and messing around. Its a good line, sure, but it doesn't make sense for the type of person hes established himself as, especially in the context provided.
Also him blasting the mist form away with his fist is the logical move for Cid, a battle junkie, to have done regardless, since a blunt object will have a larger effect on the movement of wind than a sharp object like a sword
Your mistake was, even though he was LARPing as John Smith, this time he knew the situation wasn't a joke and Alpha wasn't joking, so it made sense for him to say it.
I think it’s just another thing for Alpha to learn. He is doing this to save them and just telling them wouldn’t have the same emphasis. He stopped teaching them on this topic after saying he didn’t know much more but the kept going without thinking about how it could turn out. If Cid didn’t do his scheme then the cult would be rich and shadow garden would be hurting with funds and consumers trust. And power should not be the answer to bad businesses 100% of the time because it might not work.
Tbh, every time I read the part of Alpha weeping over Shadow's betrayal/abandonment, it hurts my heart a bit. Alpha is so Rude-or-Die it's silly. I always want the character I favor to be happy. Great CC video.
Why'd you say they didn't show him getting cut up when they did? Also man it hurt watching Alpha breakdown the way she did i really hope Cid makes things up to them.
It doesn’t even feel like he was actually taking damage neither did it feel like he was struggling even if just a bit, that’s the problem imo, plus he never even acknowledged her strength in the anime…
I don't recall asking for anyone's personal feelings on whether Cid looked like he took damage, i just asked why AniNews said they didn't show him taking any when they did 😕@@onesmileybaldy8303
I don't hate him, just pity him and Alpha. I feel bad for Alpha for all the pain she goes through and the internal conflict that Cid created for her and I pity Cid for not realizing what he has and how he is hurting it
I knew that confession scene from alpha felt familiar, but holy crap, you found actually it. what amazing scenes those are, truly tugging on the heart strings.
I *really* hope that this arc ends with a satisfying counclustion. As it is, I quite like how it leaves just enough out to make us not know how it will turn out. Yes we know Cid is going to come out on top, but not how, or how others are going to be affected.
Man i feel bad for Alpha, i kinda can't wait for this arc to be pver, even though it was has been so good. I will say that Alpha does sorta get back at Cid (where it really hurts) in the funniest way though.
Man, some parts I love the anime exclusive scenes (Aurora's attempt at I am the All-Range Atomic is still up there as my favorite scene(s)), but other parts definitely should be kept in and more in-line with the manga/novels. John Smith and Alpha's fight is one of those moments. At least in essence, I mean, they could just adapt it to happen on the train instead. Extend Delta's fight/scene a bit, show a little bit of filler to show reactions to Delta's "death", and end episode 6 on Alpha realising John Smith is Shadow.
A friendly reminder to everyone that it would be out of character for Cid to think any of this is more than "just a game" or "killing some bandits", as absurd as that may seem in context. Cid was a self-aware Chuuni in his past life and, unlike many other reincarnation anime, having a new life doesn't mean he immediately starts acting completely differently. He's still a self-aware Chuuni. He treats any evidence that would support his "ad-libbing session" in front of Alpha before she was Alpha as mere coincidences that his Chuuni brain is reading too much into.
Add that something with Cid's mind is also blatantly not normal. He is sociopathic in a lot ways and displays "savant syndrome". his brain just works different to put it simply.
I really hope we see more John Smith in the future since Cid wants John's persona wants to be recognized for being a " SUPER AGENT ELITE" for the world
wow glad they did a small fight with Beta and i love that Alpha seem to put up more of a fight in the manga and would have love to see that animated but i honestly cant complain about what we got. That too was good.
The thing I loved best about this fight is knowing he's accidentally hurting the Diablos Cult, none of them know it yet beyond the Cult, and Shadow Garden will think he's a genius when he accidentally bankrupts the Cult. And Cid will never realize it. Ever. That knowing, even though I've never read the manga, is what makes so much of this anime so fun. I love that the anime both does and really, really doesn't take itself seriously, and that's precisely what makes it so much fun to watch.
"Like side was backed into a corner for once" holds water if you cannot read, Cid is shown to have an end at the point as was shown when he told Alpha he was impressed but that "technique" has issues this holds true for the Magna too
Tbh i loved the way he acted it just makes this anime more fun and unique + now i believe cid to be more powerful than bone daddy or at least in their respective world bcs Ainz isn't that far away from the floors guardians but here cid is way stronger than his best and most powerful being in that world
Making Cid bleed is not Alpha "beating" him, like he explains when he fights Olivier, he doesn't bother dodging, it's easier for him to just take the hit and adjust the angle, so it's not a fatal wound. He still considers, even Alpha like a child, he doesn't even use serious moves or have to move a single step to avoid her attacks.
I kinda like the anime iteration more, for both Delta and Alpha. Aside from enjoying a brief scuffle between Delta and John, I feel that Cid beating Alpha by analyzing her mist form and beating her without the use of his sword was an even bigger flex, on top of the imagery of the train leaving her behind with his back turned driving it home how he's always leaving them behind hitting home even more. Ngl, either the director and staff are big fans of the novels or they're really really good at adaptations.
The difference between the anime and manga is pretty drastic. In the anime Alpha was able to make John Smith bleed but still lost to him while in the manga Alpha was able to "beat" John Smith but lose to Shadow which shows that she was strong enough to make Cid actually try, which is a milestone in itself.

this part of Alpha and shadow part really hit me hard in the light novel while I was able to commend shadow's dedication to his role as john smith....seeing it from Alpha's perspective as someone who really cares for shadow and wants to understand and help him but the person himself never seeming to care about it really hit hard especially as he is their strength to survive
I loved her last line as well - 'There you go.. turning your back on me again.'
It just felt complete.
Agree
This is so right
Completely disagree
💯
If it was following the Manga I would agree, however the anime is following the light novel.
You always make my days better man! Im happier now😊😊😊😊
Honestly i think the anime redeems cid more than the light novel since the anime after shows why cid started this whole thing.
I only went back for this scene and this scene alone.
I'm glad to see you guys appreciate the link here.
LOL...Cid and Delta skit always a top tier on this series. Cant wait for the next one when they about to confront Gettan and the story of the Delta tribe.
Flexing on his own team : that's some different philosophy
I was really surprised at how damaged alpha is and how needy she is of him. Her mental collapse over not being in on what he was doing 😅
I'm also remembered that that clip from "When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace" when I first see alpha's speach!!!
I can't pick which one I liked better.
im pretty sure he just think that they're very mad at him, so add that would make the readers mad
so I already seen and read everything of this series, but somehow your content is still entertaining...
thanks dude, it must be something with how you say it.
Question...should I read the original web novel or the light novel??? Which is better?!
Loved delta vs John smith in the manga. Cid is introducing himself and delta jumps in him like a child
I honestly enjoyed the episode, good job John Smith
Same here. I actually prefer too, being able to hear Alpha's hurt feelings and reaching out to him. I legit feel so bad for her this episode. And Delta is still best girl. Love every scene with her.
Been waiting for you to upload this
Ive been hella confused for a while
13:44 why... why make us remember such a scene...
i mean, its still the best voice acted scene iv seen in any anime up to date
but...
man.
What anime is that?
@@jimmyh2137 When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace. It is an anime that is both epic and cringe at the same time. I was just happy I was not the only one who made the connection between Hatako and Alpha rant, though Hatako's was much more intense.
Gotta to say this was definitely one of my favorite arcs and can't wait to see what's next
Goes to show nothing can beat... EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!
that's one HELL of a difference and I actually find the anime version with the non-stop train (very reminiscent to mugen train lol) to be WAAAY better executed! bravo on the studio!
Agreed. Love the train fights so much.
The conversation between shadow and Alfa is very beautiful in manga compared to anime
At around 6:26 you can see (what I believe) where Cid got the bit of hair used to prove Delta's defeat. Was cut up during the initial bout with the string.
All Cid's planning and he forgot Delta can still tell who he is by scent. 🤷🏿♂️🤣
He didn't forget he used perfume specifically for that but she just had too good senses
@@Shorkii. Not in the Anime to my knowledge.
he did the anime didn't explained it @@CJ-kg7yq
To be honest, he did succeed to fool Delta until he gets too close.
Yes
very much so yeah
Omggg I waited for this videoo since the moment I saw the episode
Ani, I’ll still watch these videos even tho I didn’t watch the show, just cuz I fw you so much
Such a dope arc, I just hope this won't lead to distrust between Shadow Garden and Shadow himself, that would make this anime fall in my eyes
Great video. So cool. You did see this episode and have read the manga. Fantastic ❤
Tbh, every time I read the part of Alpha weeping over Shadow's betrayal/abandonment, it hurts my heart a bit. Alpha is so Rude-or-Die it's silly. I always want the character I favor to be happy.
Great CC video.
Love the content man❤
I am very much enjoying this arc! Like you said, it's unlikely to happen again, so the clash of powers is a fun spectacle!
Thank you for the upload 😎👍
The John Smith arc has always been my favorite one
Oriana kingdom arc and Reverse isekai arc are miles better the f*ck are you talkin about😂😂😂
@@stepgo95 people can like what they want, i still prefer this arc but others are still great
Alpha's VA did a spectacular job this episode...
Agreed. It was completely heart wrenching.
Why'd you say they didn't show him getting cut up when they did? Also man it hurt watching Alpha breakdown the way she did i really hope Cid makes things up to them.
I think he meant in comparison. As in the manga Cid was shown taking more damage versus the anime.
She shredded him until he stopped playing around in the written stuff.
Thanks!
I don't hate him, just pity him and Alpha. I feel bad for Alpha for all the pain she goes through and the internal conflict that Cid created for her and I pity Cid for not realizing what he has and how he is hurting it
The hair that you mentioned is dropped on 4:21 of this video, it was in the battle between Delta and John Smith, (anime original)
Nah he wont he still lose(money)
Alpha: " i see you dodge my undodgeable strike"
Cid: " People die if they are killed"
Moment
in the anime when he just put out his hand and stopped her seems was more brutal then the sword swing
It did not even have to happen. I am glad alpha is strong!
Eminence in Shadow makes me happy. I don't know how or why, it just does
I actually prefer the anime on this one, just blow the mist form away.
As far as fights go, I think its the best so far.
I like all these changes they made tbh.
“Stand proud Alpha, You’re Strong”
thats probably how they should've done it
Man i feel bad for Alpha, i kinda can't wait for this arc to be pver, even though it was has been so good.
He is sociopathic in a lot ways and displays "savant syndrome".
his brain just works different to put it simply.
it was cool af. thanks for the video
I loved that clash....the weight of alpha's emotions and power of Sid's was incredible
Alpha lives up to her (code) name
I felt ssd for alpha in the anime when she said "please don't leave me" he was the home she wanted to go too always
13:45 - 13:50 Didn't expect to see this, man if only it got another season; but yeah with how emotional it was for the character it was very similar
Decision to make all this fights be on train was fantastic in my opinion.
I really hope we see more John Smith in the future since Cid wants John's persona wants to be recognized for being a " SUPER AGENT ELITE" for the world
I don't watch this but I just like when you tell stories
you can actually see when delta loses that part of her hair in anime if you go frame by frame during their fight
this arc made me want to watch anime and now read the manga once s2 finishes
"why have you abandoned the shadow garden'"
got me hooked
John Smith was certainly the most interesting persona out there.
Alpha ❤. Awesome Video like always.
That fight got Me crying 🙆🏽♂️👌🏾😭yooo😭🔥🔥
NGL I like how the anime does things better. So far all these changes have been for the better IMO.
wow glad they did a small fight with Beta and i love that Alpha seem to put up more of a fight in the manga and would have love to see that animated but i honestly cant complain about what we got. That too was good.
Unintentional tough love in a way
I loved how funny this arc was :)
Would really love to see those dialogue in the anime, specially the part where alpha lean and whispers to cid's ears while they were fighting.
Excellent video🎉🎉
The thing I loved best about this fight is knowing he's accidentally hurting the Diablos Cult, none of them know it yet beyond the Cult, and Shadow Garden will think he's a genius when he accidentally bankrupts the Cult. And Cid will never realize it. Ever. That knowing, even though I've never read the manga, is what makes so much of this anime so fun. I love that the anime both does and really, really doesn't take itself seriously, and that's precisely what makes it so much fun to watch.
"Like side was backed into a corner for once" holds water if you cannot read, Cid is shown to have an end at the point as was shown when he told Alpha he was impressed but that "technique" has issues this holds true for the Magna too
To anyone confused - the scene from 13:45 comes from anime (Source) When Supernatural Battles become commonplace. You are welcome.
This is by far the best Ark ❤
Best arc in emenice in the shadows
These manga panels are so clean!!
