Fun fact! This game had a Japan-exclusive re-release called Goku Makaimura _Kai_ that included a new mode more similar to the previous games in the series: limited continues, no backtracking, having to beat the game twice, set checkpoints and a revised difficulty.

I really wanted to like this game it looks good and controls well and has a bunch of upgrade systems I like. I played so much of it but it's so needlessly difficult even by Ghosts 'n Goblins standards enemies constantly spawn and attack you from every angle in every level and you constantly have to revisit levels to find secrets in order to progress it gets tiring. I tapped out at the final stage where you have to go back and find like 30 gold rings in the other levels in order to beat the last boss.
Fun fact if you grind out something like 500,000,000 points you get infinite lives.
