Concrete floors. After you described the intended use of the space, concrete with a sealer would be much easer to clean and sanitize. Since you will be heating the space, foam board installed under the concrete is recommended.

I would definitely do the concrete floor. In the long run, it is more likely the building will stay where it is, and you'll be happier with the concrete for insulation and cleanliness.
Sorry for the loss of the bunnies. I'm glad you added some secure locking latches.
I wish I could train my dog as well as you have trained your pack! 😂

If you do concrete, a vapor barrier will help with condensation. I think it's worth a roll of plastic. Insulate the metal roof or it will condensate. Pole barn insulation at least on the roof. Believe they sell it in rolls 8 ft long. If you use bat insulation you will need some sort of vapor barrier. I just put metal on the inside to

The concrete floor would help keep rodents out of a food storage area.

Definitely concrete! You wouldn’t have to deal with weeds growing between the slats like in the greenhouse. Also, if you put a couple of drains in the floor, you could hose the floor down to keep it clean.

Your plans for the pole barn sound so amazing, no matter what floor you choose. I do think maybe it might be easier to regulate the temperature if you have a concrete floor, and also there would be less opportunity for hungry field mice etc to chew their way up through the floor to look for snacks or make a nest. You can always hire a concrete breaker if you ever do decide to move the barn. There's also the option of using patio slabs (not sure what they're called in America), like David did for the floor in his Patiowell shed. That looked very practical and very nice.

So sorry on the loss on your 4 rabbits. Bella is so sweet and adorable to watch her run with her ears flip flopping around. I think you need to do another party on the 41... and have everyone bring their mowers, zero turns and tractors with the cutting piece to the property and do a huge mowing party lol. I love how the dogs all know to wait for their food as well, so very well trained. OK i had to come back and talk about the pole barn. I think a concrete flooring would be good in the long run, wood tends to rot out. If you wanted to move the barn you have a laid floor that could maybe be the base for an out door screen area or out door kitchen and what Roxanne was talking about all is just as great! Thanks for taking us along and I am loving the over grown veggie garden and the pretty flowers during your filming. Much peace to you all.

It is time for some trail cams to see who or what is helping itself to your food. I would have thought that if it were an animal that took the bunnies that there would be blood and fur about.

Stop, stop, stop blaming yourselves! Short of housing the bunnies, or all of your animals for that matter, UNDER YOUR BED!! You can't be in all places at all times! Besides, you can't fix what you didn't know was broken. The important thing is you are addressing the problem right away. But having said that... you might want to invest in a trail camera! Just in case the culprit is of a "non-furry" persuasion.😂😂😂 You guys are incredible! Please allow yourselves a little grace. ❤ I love you guys and you're doing a wonderful job!!! 🥰😍🤩❤️💖💕🙏🙏🙏

Concrete is the way to go easy to maintain lasts longer than wood. And thinking of the future you could always make it a tiny house for guests etc. I think concrete is faster and about the same price of wood.

  • @HalfAssHomestead
    @HalfAssHomestead 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Anthony, if you go with a concrete floor, you're going to need a lot of gravel in order to bring it up level first. Then it has to be tamped in, and add rebar for reinforcement. Once it is poured, you have to cut at least one relief line through the center. That way if it shifts, the whole floor doesn't just break apart into crumbles. As for the other 2/3rds. I would close in the third in the middle, and put in a sliding door on the last third, so you can keep the weather and critters out.

Amazing how you trained the dogs, especially Bruce to wait on their eating! You asked for opinions about your flooring. I thought I was the only one who second guessed myself! You have a very nice structure there so pour concrete. Run a 2 by 4 across your opening at the height you want. Pull what rock you have to spare in that direction and level towards the back. 3.5 inches deep should be plenty of concrete!

You are in the country where critters live. With a wood floor you could have critters living in the open space; that would not happen with a concrete floor. So I say pour concrete and move on. Jus my opinion. Cameras would be nice to keep an eye out for critters looking for a meal, and live traps so you could relocate if any are caught. So yes cameras are needed.

I especially enjoyed this episode in spite of the sad loss. You both seemed more relaxed than you have been? IDK . I always enjoy the "b" rolls, too and the editing. I think a slab floor would be better all around. You can NEVER know how your vision/plans may change or anticipate the reasons they may do so...but what if "what if" never happens or doesn't happen for 5/10 or more years. Slab could still be repurposed, or not, depending on how your vision has changed. In the meantime, you'd not have inconvenienced yourself in the short term for a change that you might never want to make. What is the "cost" ($, time, effort, etc) doing either NOW VS what it would be to change later, if need be. Most importantly, what is going to be best for you, for the longest foreseeable time. 🤗

Since you're undecided on the floor, my thoughts are a wood floor could be disassembled if you want to move it, but concrete would be better for what you want to use it for. If the concrete is not attached to the building in a permanent way, the building could be moved and you use the slab as a patio or put another smaller storage shed on it.

My concern would be the weather in storing your canned goods, but Rox just cleared that up with the insulation and temp control. Great to hear. Also I would definitely pour a concrete slab. If you're gonna put cement down in your Pole barn and do it right because the s**** is high in the front, you need to dig at the back of the barn a dig the mount that it's high in the front the same amount in the back. Leboard off with dirt from side to side , Then
Put the wood frame up and then put The Wire inside the wood frame and then put to con.Create if you're gonna do it you're not gonna do it right then leave it alone

Live and learn. Padlocks are the solution. 2. I always picked beans every 2 days. Peas, every day. Each vegetable has a growth rate. Document maturity for each vegetable. In general, the garden needs observation every day. No days off. Concrete floor will be so helpful. Good solid surface, easy to clean. I love your videos!

The chickens will love the bad ones, or maybe the bunnies. I'm so glad your pickles turned out good.
Did you show the recipe for the pickel relish recipe? Maybe I missed you doing it online?
    Have a Great weekend!♥️🙏
    Love the new puppy.
