The way I’ve always seen it is; red Harlow from red dead revolver is like doc holiday from the movie “Tombstone” and uncle is like doc holiday in real life.
Red and Uncle act like completely different people. no Scorpion scar on Uncle's hand. no scars under his beard. is it really a scar on his nose? RDR1 Uncle has a red rag on his belt and not his hand and the glove on Uncle's dominant hand so he doesn't get blisters from farm work. just because they were born around the same time doesn't mean they're the same person. everyone goes through trauma in this game so it's not that rare to have parents die young. I also feel like it takes away from the story of Red Harlow if he turned into someone like Uncle. and it takes away from the story of Uncle if he was in fact Red Harlow. I played Red Dead Revolver in 2005 at 9 years old and that game and story left a lasting impact on me and I would be so disappointed if Rockstar actually took this fan theory and made it canonical. I like to believe that the story of Red Harlow was real in the Red Dead Redemption universe and the game we play it's just a hyperbolic version of the story that was passed down through legend. Red's family was murdered because his dad's partner Griff sold him out of the gold mine to General Diago and became Governor and Red murdered them in revenge for his family's murder. but Jack Swift fighting a magical Professor Perry is part of the hyperbolic legend of a Carnival clown that used magical properties that made him teleport (probably in reality drugs that made him quick and unpredictable)
I always thought of Red Harlow as being more of a legend type figure in the Redemption games, kinda like Pecos Bill or The Lone Ranger. Uncle having that as his secret identity is still a pretty funny "what if" tho.
Here’s what I’d say to help make this fit Revolver is separate from the red dead universe meaning they have separate canons What happened in revolver did actually happen the way it did in regards to its universe where as in red dead 1 and 2 it happened mostly the same with some minor inconsistencies If Uncle really is Red Harlow then that means the stories about him were exaggerated Like for instance his hand being burned, he could’ve worn a red cloth around his hand just because he thought it looked cool and people mistook that for a burn mark and made up a story as to why he wears it like that If the ages are different that means either it’s different for both universes or they are separate people, or perhaps people got their ages wrong telling the story, or uncle just forgot which I mean he is old I mean he could’ve it’s just highly unlikely considering how real he seems to retell that memory I mean obviously it would have to be exaggerated for the red dead universe because of the supernatural opponent’s red faces with literal magic Don’t get me wrong there is supernatural stuff in red dead 1 and 2 but it’s portrayed with a softer tone and nothing more as Easter eggs
Let's say Red Harlow was a real gunslinger, but their Reputation and Legend got so massively overstated that it became like a game of telephone. Every time someone retold the story they changed a little bit, not by intention but because they misheard how they were told it, then the person they told their slightly different version to also misheard and when they next told the tale they misremembered what they were told... and so on and so on. All this might mean the Legend of Red Harlow has wound up changed so many times some people might think he's wound up shooting apples off a boys head at the "request" of a corrupt Sheriff then wound up marrying Maid Merrion after arm wrestling Robin Hood for her. Red Dead Revolver the game could just be an interpretation of how his Legend went down, without actually being an accurate retelling. They might not even be accurate about his personality. None of which would either mean Uncle really is or isn't Red Harlow, but if all we have to go off is the Legends, which might not be anywhere near accurate, it might be so overblown that Red himself could just retire into quiet, peaceful obscurity. And if Uncle really is Red, why on earth would he join up with the likes of Dutch and his gang?
As uncle said, "Dutch wants to believe he's a king, and us, his loyal knights" or something like that 😅 It honestly makes *more* sense to me why *Dutch* would put up with *him* even being next to worthless amd hitting him with the antagonize, antagonize, defuse, antagonize combo. Because even tho he doesnt lift a finger, if he does, it only takes "one shot" As tobwhy uncle wpuld stay: he has no vision. No goals. If he *is* red, he already got revenge, there is nothing left to want. No taste sweeter. Basically, he is more comfortable than he's ever been and doesnt see a reason to leave, even tho he didnt want to be there for the reason Dutch wants him there, dutch probably feels if uncle is *forced* to shoot, for example pinkertons came to camp, it will still benefit Dutch. If uncle isnt lying about defending the ranch, he absolutely was a menace at the time, he was outmanned and out gunned, and still fought them to a stalemate in which he walked away. Although i doubt he did, doesnt mean it's not partly true. Maybe it only took, "one shot" 😂
Why not I think it’s just an exaggeration of his stories which his fun or something more crazy a dream he has is him as red Harlow and twin rocks in no coincidence
Although… if Revolver is a “myth” retelling of Ref Harlow’s exploits then Uncle could still be Red. Uncle is similar enough, his story might not be quite as heroic in reality. But…. He did ‘something’ and the folk tales embellished it beyond reality. Made it more heroic than it was. Red Harlow might not have been the blue eyed legend that his story made him out to be. He could be a brown eyed gunslinger who became bigger than his legend
Can't say it matters to me. Uncle was a character I hated most in the game. They wanted to write him as a lovable fool, but he was pure selfishness and idiocy, especially during John's epilogue. When they have his brief serious moments, it was such a jarring contrast that it made no sense to the narrative. Let's put it this way. Micah was hateful, twisted and lacked any redeeming qualities. He was vile, and I still preferred his moments to Uncle's. Micah was all about stepping on anyone in his way. It was awful, but made the story more compelling. Uncle was a pathetic, self entitled burden whose was used as a prop to initiate mission situations but in a very forced and ineffective way. If he was removed from the story, nothing changes. Actually, it would be better. I really disliked him.
It shows up a few times, kinda odd huh and no one else has mentioned it. So unless the creator sources those clips with it in it he had to have literally placed those in himself through probably mods or maybe editing?
Red Harlow is a legend. If he did exist in the rdr universe then he wouldn't be as great as we witnessed. That's exactly why I believe Uncle might as well be him
No I don't think Uncle is red Harlow because Uncle is all red and red Harlow would of nevered got kidnapped by the people... Uncle got kidnapped and red Harlow would of killed them all red Harlow would of got revenge if he did got kidnapped and red Harlow is way smarter then Uncle and red Harlow would of nevered died like Uncle did in rdr1 because red Harlow would easily kill the Pinkerton from rdr1 and red Harlow would stay beside by john Marston and Uncle got killed from rdr1 and red Harlow would of nevered died by the Pinkerton he would Definitely be by john side killing all the Pinkertons just saying
@TheThirdMeteorite Red Harlow is the toughest character in Red Dead and some people want him to be Uncle. Uncle is a joke. Red Harlow was born in the 1860s and his parents were killed in the 1870s. Uncle was born in 1849. When Red Harlow is an adult, the game takes place in 1888 or 1889. Red Harlow is Native American on his mother's Falling Star side. Uncle is not Native American.

Yes. Yes, he is. Absolutely. 100%.
I have always been wondering why uncle mentioned bounty hunting in chapter 2
I just think Red Harlow are just tall tales Uncle has spun about his life throughout the ages.
Yes Uncle is Red Hollow

Did anyone else see the insignia of Soviet Russia(and the symbol of general Communism) on Uncle’s head? Pause it at the 0:22 mark. I swear it’s there.

No he’s not… theres your answer
This comparison is like comparing a young Clint Eastwood to an old alcoholic bum with a criminal record 😂
But in his prime he was known as ONE SHOT KID
Red Harlow is like 25-26 in Red dead revolver so if it’s in the 1880’s he would be about 3 years older than Arthur. Def not uncle
