She was in love with Sean and couldn't get over his death. Lost herself in alcohol.
I wish Karen managed to break free from her alcohol addiction, the same way Swanson got rid of his addictions, but it's hard to believe it.
We all know that, in real life, not all endings are happy, so it wouldn't surprise if Tilly's theory was right. I also believe that Karen drank herself to death.
This. It's hard to hold out hope for Karen if you've ever seen it play out in real life. Right now, I'm watching a slow death happen from damage done to the liver and kidneys caused by alcohol. Like Karen the person in question couldn't get over the death of someone they loved. Unlike Karen they weren't struggling with alcohol prior but the benders they went on in their grief was enough to damage them terribly and in a relatively short amount of time. People don't understand how destructive alcohol can truly be when someone binges on hard liquor. Also, a lot folks already have genetic factors where they might develop fatty liver disease and a little bit of alcohol abuse can push their bodies over the edge and cause real health problems. I think the fact that they showed Swanson's change but never showed it with Karen, combined with Tilly's mention of her, confirms what happened.
@@tendjinn I know exactly how it feels to watch someone slowy killing himself/herself with and addiction, 'cause that's exactly what happened to my father... Ironically, he also had an alcohol addiction and lost him because of it.
I think the Murfree's probably got her. She disappeared during chapter 6 not after, which would mean that unless she decided to travel through the murfree infested woods alone and somehow made it out alove, SOMEONE should know what happened to her (probably Tilly) but since no one does I have to assume the option that leaves the least number of witnesses is the correct one.

That's sort of the same thing that happened to Kieran on Chapter IV when he got kidnapped and killed by the O'Driscolls.
I only wish we could find something, anything, that lead us to a concrete answer about Karen's fate. Like an Easter Egg or a hidden dialog, for instance...

That's what I think as well. If she drank herself to death as the popular theory goes, someone (probably Tilly or Mary Beth) would've known. But if the Murfree's took her then that wouldn't necessarily leave behind any witnesses. Plus I believe Karen disappears during chapter 6 and not after it.

Karen becomes a raging alcoholic by chapter six. In Beaver Hollow is when she disappears, no one knows how, I think the Murfree Brood got her and we all know what that means.

Simply put is that it’s 1899. If someone wanted to drop off the face of the earth with a group of people, they could do it.
Yes it’s possible that she got whacked by Murfrees or a wild animal. It’s also possible that she caught a river boat in Annesburg and just went north with some money that she grabbed from the camp and settled down in a northern state or Canada. How would they ever know if she settled down in St Louis? By 1900, it had a population of over half a million, so even if someone knew someone in that city, the odds they’d also know Karen would be slim.
So yeah, sometimes people in your past are just gone.
I think Karen drinking herself to death or getting caught by a rival gang or predator in the wild is the most likely outcome for her because up until Beaver Hollow she showed no improvements of her drinking habits and wasn’t at camp in Arthur’s final mission

The unknown especially with a persons life shows the harsh reality of life, for obvious reasons she was going to be remembered and semi popular so I believe they did it on purpose leaving the player slightly uncomfortable and unsatisfied.
Always good to be left wanting more than less.
My theory is the actress who played Karen pissed off someone at rockstar

I think she ends up singing in bars and eventually meets up with Jack to start the third game .
I think she is secretly Gavin, and suffered a hit to the head that she only later recovers from. Hopefully finds her friend and they can ride off into the sunset
I think she made her way to Mexico because in chapter 2 she talks to Javier about mexico and Karen say something between the lines of I would like to go to Mexico someday so there's a good chance that Karen went to Mexico after when Uncle and Pearson left but we'll never know that's why I wish rockstar would have put Mexico in rdr 2 so we could know.
Or Karen made had killed her self off screen because she was deep in depression and alcoholism.

Karen reminds me so much of my older sister... they're both brave, outspoken, hardworking, funny, smart, and even look a little alike. And they're both alcoholics. I've wondered more than once if my sister is going to drink herself into an early grave, and I can only assume that's what Karen did. It's strange, we hear about a lot of the gang's past, even Tilly and Abigail mention their families or upbringing at one point or another. We never heard Karen say ANYTHING about her past... judging from her issues (and how pessimistic she could be about people and the world) it couldn't have been a pretty one.
I think it was going to be a part in the epilogue where maybe you saved her bumped into her like Arthur did with Mrs downes and she runs away kinda of odd another rockstar mystery 😂 my theory is she's hiding with the princess

Unless they didnt officially confirm her death because sge could be a protagonist in RDR3 if they go forward in time she could even have her own crew or work as a pinkerton informant set around the aame time as RDR1

There's a 2 level house just outside Van Horn, where you go into find a guy sleeping at the table. You can rob him & there's someone that looks like Karen in the same room on the floor

That’s such a wild coincidence, my father’s last name was Jones, and my mother’s first name was Karen
She didn’t take on the last name when she married tho but it’s very strange the coincidence

I think her alcoholism and inner traumas drove her mad, she wound up in a mental institution possibly in St. Denis where she died alone and presumably a victim of early 20th century exploitation of the mentally ill

Many of the gang members weren’t that important to the story plot, but none of them are pointless. Rockstar Games love to leave mysteries. Many other gang members leave clues behind about what happened to them but we don’t know for sure.

I can think of two big reasons why Karen should be included in rdr3...
1) good character
2) gang member with least info about her
She's not the one with the least info
She drank herself to death. Confirmed in epilogue.
I'm not saying I think she'll definitely return in RDR3 but I think Rockstar left her fate unknown so that they had the option to bring her back. RDR3 would make more sense as a sequel mainly because it would allow for new and more interesting setting and gameplay with early motor vehicles and developing cities and the old west feel has already been done with RDR1. Also we need to see the end of Jack's story

Micah probably violated and murdered her. He advances on her multiple times during the game in that horrible way he does, and probably realised that he could get away with it because she was always drunk
Well in game dialogue suggests otherwise Karen tries to make advances on micah but he shuts her down saying only thing she likes is whiskey he even rizzes up Grimshaw in conclusion micah just got rizz
Micah does advances on some of the women at camps purely to make them uncomfortable because he's Micah. The only time Karen is so drunk that she actually responds to Micah's advance and the numerous times Grimshaw does, he shuts them down and insults them. Micah is absolutely not interested in having sex with Karen or anyone else really, he just wants to screw with them.

Karen is the only gang member who just kinda disappeared like she had not mention in rdr1 which means likely she was a last second add to the game and I feel she was just kinda filler to make the gang larger all she did was stare into the sky I think she had 1 line of dialogue in the whole game lol

Karen could have been the rat in the gang. Her logic being befuddled by being a drunk and exacerbated desperation could have led her to making a deal and the fact that she disappeared afterwards lends credibility to the belief she was paid off and given a new identity or shipped far away from where all the gang's activities occurred.
Its possible she just ran away. Maybe to canada or even took a boat over seas. Through alcoholism anything is possible.

Pretty much when gang falls apart, along with her severe drinking issue along with Grim Shaw at times being super harsh at her.
Good outcome is she also got fed up, left the camp and trying to thrive on her own.
Bad outcome is she killed herself out of depression.
However, I at times did catch Karen having a conversation with Javier about going to visit Mexico. I'd like to hope maybe Karen caught a train or maybe a boat to go there.
Maybe Rockstar learned after Having to come up with a character for the second one That wasn't ever mentioned in the first one.
And they purposely left her outcome like they did because she'll be the focus of the next game.
