Very exciting. I'm going to let my free FSD expire though. Probably going to subscribe again once 12.4 comes out or the freeway is Neural 2 neural.
Does 'summon' work?
Parallel parking, and reverse parking work very well. But reverse parking can be very slow, which will upset other drivers in a busy parking Lot.
But Autopark cannot drive straight into a parking place. Why not?
Autopark also cannot handle *diagonal* parking spots. And they are everywhere.
Two thoughts: it may be so getting out of the parking spot is easier going forward. When is reversing into the spot, it's built up a model of the world with good measurements. After some time, that model is no longer valid and it's likely hard to rebuild with enough precision to back out safely. The forward facing cameras have better and more fields of view than the single rear camera to facilitate this
And second, since it's still training, they may want the most feedback on the reverse parking maneuver since it's more difficult at this stage.
I personally think it was to get people to buy Hardware 4 cars by not giving Hardware 3 cars the better parking right away

I doubt it's a sales tactic. This is so new a feature that's it's pretty niche compared to the lag in capabilities of FSD on HW4.
More likely, it just takes time to train on the different hardware revisions. Or scaling the inference model down on HW3 takes a bit longer (e.g. more training). It could also just be something as mundane as the person reasonable has more familiarity with HW4 or the HW3 person was on vacation.
