- In this video I show you How to Tie Dye a 16 Point Mandala Flower Tapestry. I use 17 colors for the incredible tapestry and it is also Ice Dyed. It's pretty incredible. This is a step by step guide video that is a little lengthy, but definitely worth the watch if you are interested in learning the process so that you too can create your very own 16 point mandala flower tie dye tapestry. The 16 point mandala turned out great! I'm assuming you put foil around the piece to contain the ice. Can you give us guidance on this aspect of the process? Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much. You’re absolutely correct. I just made an aluminum foil border to fit around the tapestry that contains the ice. If I didn’t explain that part in the video I apologize😊
I gave it a try but was so concerned about wasting a lot of dye (since I only bought a small amount) that i used it as liquid. It's okay but I didn't get any white lines. Was that because I used liquid or because maybe my sinew was not tight enough? Is there anyway to add a photo to this comment for you? I would love your suggestions about this.
You can’t add photos here but you can message me on any of my social media accounts. The sinew probably wasn’t right enough but it takes practice 😊❤️
I just did a tapestry, I can’t remember if I got it at grateful dyes or dharma but as far as I could see there were no corner loops. Is this normal? I have another one ready to go. Maybe it’ll have them, 🤔 lol✌🏻❤️
I get mine from sunshine joy on Amazon and they always have the corner loops but some companies don’t put them on. ☺️❤️

Oh I’m sorry to hear that. There are a few suppliers but I’m not sure if they ship internationally either unfortunately. There’s grateful dyes in Colorado. There’s custom colors but I’m not sure where they’re located. There’s tulip brand. Sometimes they have good selections at wal mart. They also have procion dye they sell on amazon. That may be another option. Hope this helps some😊

Dharma is in the same town as I am. They have a cute little retail store with the most amazing yarn selection on one side and dye section on the other side. It's a blessing to have them so close by.

Can this be done by the pouring method too?(liquid dye)
Yes it can the only downside is that I’ve sue creates a marbling effect and liquid doesn’t. Also you’ll have to make sure you really saturate your item with liquid to get all the way through the folds ☺️💜

Just wondering can you use made up liquid dye instead of powered poured over the ice or does it come out to light just thought I would ask as I have dyes to use up. great videos
Hi and thank you for your question. In my experience the dye does become more of a pastel color, if not getting lost all together. I just did a mandala on a shirt and tried that and my lighter colors actually disappeared all together after being washed. Hope this helps😊

Thanks for asking. You actually could fold a bed sheet the exact same way as I fold any of the tapestry’s that I do. You just want to make sure the fabric is all natural such as cotton, rayon, or silk. Hope this helps😊

DO YOU USE SODA ASH AT ANY POINT IN YOUR PROJECT?
Yes. I wash my material in the washer first, then soak in a bucket of soda ash/water mixture for at least 20 minutes. Usually longer. Then I spin out in the washer so the material is damp when i start my project😊
