FYI you can get three versions of each effect by holding down the FX button and tapping the power button. It should beep and give you variants of the chorus, reverb and delay.
Dude I have been looking for a good review/sound test for one of these things for AGES. I never bought one for fear of it being terrible... but it isn't
All the effects of the "Durutti Column" in one box. I've just recently got mine for bass, so it's nice to see it in use while I start to get the hang of it. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah me too, I love what he's doing here! Could someone point me (a beginner) in the direction of what he's doing? Is he playing a scale that I could learn?
This plug in is such a great idea.. but what would really knock this out of the park would be if this was Bluetooth so you can pair this with your favorite Bluetooth speaker and get some volume. Particularly for street performers or jam sessions, etc. ..Great Video 👏
Could always just use a similar adapter to the one featured in this video, and just plug directly into a bluetooth speaker aux in, haven't tried it but should work in theory.
Direct audio cable is the way to go, not bluetooth... BT has issues with sounds when the song or track is too silent, or has a delay before it actually plays the audio. I know mine does it whenever I play ASMR stuff on - all the whispers never get played unless it's continuous. Can't go wrong with direct aux, though you will want a mono > stereo converter adapter/splitter somewhere along the way.
Bought their integrated headphone equivalent of these plug n play amps. Very cool technology but actually think the amps being demonstrated here are more user friendly because you don’t have to take the headphones off to change the effects, more cost effective because they are three times cheaper than the amps in this video, which is good for cash strapped younger musicians, and finally simply better because they have a tremolo sound built in. Great video, great tech. Love my headphones but wish I’d done my homework before purchasing. All novice guitarists: do your research!!
this was so helpful. i recently bought a squier bullet strat and i was on the fence about buying a super fancy amp just bc i’m a beginner and didn’t wanna invest hundreds into an amp so this video is hella informative and i’m tempted to pick up one of these lil things!! thanks so much my guy
I give you another application for this wonder stuff : I really needed my guitar to have two identical outs to feed two pedal chains. Instead of an expensive x-y box, I use this without effect, taking the left and right as two mono channels. I only wish it were easy to disassemble it and build it inside the guitar. Any ideas?
I’m very interested to know how long the batteries last before you have to run upstairs to get a new pair, come back, and your idea is gone only to realize that was your last pair of AAs.
Great video, very good explanations and playing, I play live with backing tracks and through a PA direct, I think this could be a good option to give more ampish sound..cheers!
Tremelo effect not mentioned in description on Amazon. Edit one year later. Nov 2021 Just gone wireless with one of these amps. Connected up to lekato wireless guitar system on playing guitar side and connected up to RF headphones(Bluetooth headphones don't work as the inherent latency with Bluetooth produces a delay) on the listening side.
Just ordered this today because it's something I need so I don't drive my wife nuts lol. Only after I ordered I thought I should probably watch a review of it. Good to hear it's decent and will do a proper job!
If you don't want to plug I in your guitar, go to the radio shack web sight and get a stereo line coupler plug the amp headphone in to one end of the coupler and your guitar cable in the other end then into the guitar now you can set the headphone amp on your knee and adjust the amp controls it's easier to see try it !!!!!!!!
How is the strain on the amp when heavy cables like yours are plugged in? In the video it looks like it is holding quite a bit of weight, which could cause strain, which could decrease life expectancy of the amp. Does it still work? Other than that, cool little headphone amp!
Hello Rob, I was looking up on this product and found your video, but I'm still not sure watching your video: Do you feel any "output delay"? I mean the delay on the output, not the FX. I was thinking about, VOX AC30 -> Bluetooth P2 Adapter -> Bluetooth Headphones. That way I can play guitar using bluetooth headphones. What do you think?
Can the Vox amp be plugged into any guitar? I'm trying to buy an acoustic guitar and was wondering if every guitar is compatible with it or only acoustic-electric and electric ones.
Brilliant 👏thank you, I'm a truck driver and I want to take my sg when I get it in a few weeks with me in the truck 🚚 so I can practice on a nights I was thinking I'd have to buy one of the smaller proper amps to take with me, but not anymore, problem solved 👍 cheers
Hey ! I'm not a native english speaker and i'm a BIG beginner in guitar. I'd like to buy my first electric guitar and of course i need some hardware. I've saw that little thing called VOX AC30 amPlug 2 and wondered if it will do the job. The point is that i don't know if we need something esle than guitar and amPlug2 to play. Which cable do I need to buy, and do I still need to buy earphones or woofer ?
Max Wirth I’m sure it could be done if your mic has a jack connection on the lead instead of 3-pin XLR, or if you had a 3-pin XLR to jack converter! Not sure how it would sound but that would make a cool video hah, thanks for watching ✌️
Hi, Thank you for your Video. But you know, the Reverb is too strong for me. Do you know how to set inside please. effect echo repeat and reverb are strong. Thank you.
Is there a trick to get the FX working? I just picked one up and I can't seem to get the FX working at all. Tried pressing and holding, pressing, holding and pressing power. The latter I hear beeps but no effects.
hi rob, beautiful video, i also have the vox amplug classic rock, i wanted to ask you, how do i register? I would like to hear the backing track, and I play on it. thank you very much and long life to rock
Hi. This may be a weird question but is it loud enough to be heard via headphones, if you're not wearing the headphones, but having it sitting next to you? I'm thinking of using it as a wireless amp that way, hahaha. Yeah, I know I'm crazy, but would it be audible?
I have one of the original Vox blues amplug and it has a little Vox amp that it sits on - about twice as big as the amplug itself. It has a little connector cable.
Hey man are you able to set the AC30 to produce a clean sound as well? Or do you have to get the specific CLEAN amp? Cause I like to play a combo of clean and metal songs Thanks man
If you play metal I wouldn’t say the AC30 is the best choice, check out the ‘metal’ amPlug, I used to have it & it was decent. As for cleans, You might be able to get a semi clean tone with the gain rolled back & also turn your guitar volume down a bit - should clean it up nicely 🤟
Can you RECORD your playing by using a Y-cable, have one 3.5mm to your headphone and the other 3.5mm go into your MIC input on front of computer? IF YES then what is the best Software to capture and record this AC30 Amp's recording??
I wouldn't recommend the ampplug directly hooked up to headphones while powering a mic input without a headphone amp inbetween the y adapters output coming from the amp plug to the headphones first. i say this because the impedance would be messed up, you would be running 16 or 32ohm earphones in parallel with a 30,000 or more ohm input impedance from the computers mic jack, the safest way would be to get a y adapter and then a mini headphone amp to power the headphones separately while feeding the headphone amp off of the signal comimg from the y adapter inatead of directly hooking up the headphones to the amp plugs output, this will have minimal impact on sq. This would be a good choice being only 23 bucks in addition to a few cables, its specs are fantastic www.amazon.com/FiiO-A1-Silver-Portable-Headphone/dp/B01CPUVPEM Tbh if you can spare the extra cash, it would be better to just get a proper dawdac solution like a steinburg ur 22c for $180 and then just use this vox amp plug for its effects by using a 3.5mm to 1/4" plugs to plug into the steinburgs mic inputs then record it all together in audacity or cubases ai daw software, your recordings would sound better. but what i talked about above with the headphone amp and y adapter will still work and still sound acceptable n also be safer then running headphones directly at the same time and still be cheaper, goodluck man.
Just plug the device straight into the computer with a 3.5 mm jack and listen to your playing by plugging headphones into the computer. You should be able to hear your playback.
wait.. if i buy a double mini jack aux cable and aux wireless speaker i can have an amp for like 80 dollars that sounds good and i can take it everywhere... how good is that
Can these be run into a guitar amp or speaker? I tried running a cable from the "aux" port of the Amplug into a 1/8" > 1/4" converter and then ran that into the 1/4" guitar cable input of my Spark guitar amp. It didn't work though. There's an "aux" input on the back of the amp, though I'd expect that to be for hooking up to a computer or something, not receiving input in. Any ideas?
I’ve had this amPlug running through a normal guitar amp just fine! Plugged a 3.5mm jack to 1/4inch jack converter into the headphone port & then just a normal guitar cable from the converter into the amp! Worked a treat
FYI you can get three versions of each effect by holding down the FX button and tapping the power button. It should beep and give you variants of the chorus, reverb and delay.
Genuinely did not know that! Cheers for commenting
Is that outside of the tromolo effect? Like you just get variants of the chrous-reverb-delay?
@@AyYoSteve You change the 3 effects using effects button and power button together. The tremolo is changed by power button alone.
@@iduncanw thanks man! I actually ended up getting one and was just about to plug it in when you sent this lol
That's a game changer
I can't believe how good this sounds for what it is...
Dude I have been looking for a good review/sound test for one of these things for AGES. I never bought one for fear of it being terrible... but it isn't
Geetar is life thanks for watching man, Yeah this thing is really impressive! Definitely want to check out the other versions hah
I bought one based on this review. Very thorough job, Rob. Thank you.
ColorCodeTrader Excellent! I’m glad you found my video useful & bought one, thanks for watching!
All the effects of the "Durutti Column" in one box. I've just recently got mine for bass, so it's nice to see it in use while I start to get the hang of it. Thanks for sharing.
Just ordered the AC30 one today, I keep coming back to this vid for 12:14, it just sounds incredible! Thanks for the review!
Yeah me too, I love what he's doing here! Could someone point me (a beginner) in the direction of what he's doing? Is he playing a scale that I could learn?
Could I plug this into a car using the car's aux port and play through the car's sound system?
most probably
Darth Ciliatus I’m sure that would work, & would be awesome to see hah
Yooooo that would be sick
Yesss i just did this and it was freaking amazing.
My boy living in the year 3020 with this shit.
This plug in is such a great idea.. but what would really knock this out of the park would be if this was Bluetooth so you can pair this with your favorite Bluetooth speaker and get some volume. Particularly for street performers or jam sessions, etc. ..Great Video 👏
The Problem is that there's a huge delay with Bluetooth. Okay for U2 8th dot delay but not for generelly playing.
The most wonderful thing of this is that you can also carry something like a JBL Speaker and connect to it! It's not just headphones ☺
I have used them with pedals, headphones, portable speakers, using a different input of my amp,... love these toys!
Stellar review. Sounds really nice. Living the cleans in particular. Thanks for taking the time

Legendary playing my dude, thanks for the review I gotta get one of these!
Kaionfire thanks so much!
Does it work as an amp/speaker if you don't have headphones plugged in?

This amp comes with a tiny cabinet with some added expense as well, you may wanna check that too.
Great playing 13:30!!! Nice gtr w/o knobs. Like mine. How is your Gtr EQ Tone set?
I give you another application for this wonder stuff : I really needed my guitar to have two identical outs to feed two pedal chains. Instead of an expensive x-y box, I use this without effect, taking the left and right as two mono channels. I only wish it were easy to disassemble it and build it inside the guitar. Any ideas?
Well, just disassemble it and build it into the guitar. Or you mount it onto the outside of the guitar.
Thanks for the great demo. This really helps with understanding this amp.
Just watched this review and thats it, i'm buying it.
I had been looking for a detailed review of this and you have delivered. Thanks!
The severe absence of knobs on the guitar was thought provoking.
you dont need knobs on your guitar if you're good enough, apparently
I suddenly want break into a guitar store at night and steal all the knobs.
It's a copyright thing.
Getting sliced on the 5 way 😬
When you delay, its very lovely
That SG intro was sweeeeeet, Rob. I have the first (and ancient) version of the AC30 amplug with no effects. Good little unit.
barba rella it’s cool to have the original though! Glad you liked the intro hah, thanks for watching!
I love the color of the guitar, and the worn out fretboard.
When I get one I want to try plugging it into the aux in on my Line 6 Spider IV amp! I'm wondering how close it would be to having a full on Vox amp.
Bravo! Good report....i'll get this for my base setup, thank'z.
Great review thank you
Im will be getting one of these next week
I’m very interested to know how long the batteries last before you have to run upstairs to get a new pair, come back, and your idea is gone only to realize that was your last pair of AAs.
If you can't write your "idea" down on paper it isn't much of an idea.
Nice review, just picked one up and you really illustrated the features, Cheers!
Awesome demo, excellent player... nice work
could you make a video of this david gilmour guitar tones using this ac 30 amplug
Great video, very good explanations and playing, I play live with backing tracks and through a PA direct, I think this could be a good option to give more ampish sound..cheers!
Thank you for the detailed demo. Was confused to get this one or not, your video made things clear to me. Ima get this one.
Thanks man
guna shekar no problem! Thanks for watching & glad it was helpful ✌️
can you plug it into speakers if they use headphone ports? That would be awesome

Hi instead of mobile phones headset can I put a speaker ? I want it to sound as loud as a normal acoustic guitar . Thanks
Yeah! I had this coming through my speakers, just need that little adapter (mini jack to quarter inch)
Mine sounds so crappy. How do you get that so clear?
Good demo. What settings were at 6 48 ? Very bluesy.
I use this little ac 30 with a JBL quantum 100 headphones, and it works well!.
Just ordered this today because it's something I need so I don't drive my wife nuts lol. Only after I ordered I thought I should probably watch a review of it. Good to hear it's decent and will do a proper job!
MrClean 503 hah well it will definitely do the job of giving you a decent tone to jam with & not pissing off your wife 😂
Why not just plug phones into amp ????
hey there, is it possible to have the chorus and reverb on at the same time?
Great review. Very clean picking.
Great video!! i ordered the Lead version. nice shirt btw :)
That’s totally cool! Can’t believe it’s so small & have different ones that does so many thingsThanks for demonstrating! Awesome review, Rob!
Donna it’s pretty surprising how cool it sounds for the size! Thanks for watching Donna :)
Do you have to have it plugged into a computer or headphones or can I just plug it straight into my guitar
Nice review. I finally know how to control the effects. Thanks!

that reverb is RECORDING RADIO READY!
The chorus sounds really trippy but I like trippy sounds
Excellent demo. Great work!

n00b question but can you connect these to a preamp?
Hello Rob, I was looking up on this product and found your video, but I'm still not sure watching your video: Do you feel any "output delay"?

How would this sound with a humbucker pickup? Is it worth getting for a non Tele/strat guitar?

Can I plug my guitar into a pedal input (distortion, delay or wah) and the amplug into pedal output?
Filipe Loureiro most likely! Not sure how it would sound but I’m sure it would work to some degree!
Is there a way to plug a mic in instead of a guitar? Great review BTW, I just ordered one

Is it possible to connect to wireless earbuds. I really like this amplug. I just wish i could eliminate that wire.
Can I use it also for a tenor electric acoustic ukulele?
What happened to your first fret?
i was thinking mine was broken cause it wouldnt come on.....thank God for this video

What happened to your fretboard?
Sooo how long do they last untill the battery runs out?

i found this thing adds annoying noise to the audio. is it normal?
Depending how you have your Strat set up you can actually get bags of gain/drive out of the straight AC30 amplug 2 😉
I love my strat with this one!!
Thank You for this demo. Can you also plug this into a PC / DAW from an output whilst its in your guitar?
That’s what I did for this video 🤟

what is the adapter that he is using? like from the guitar cord there is a black thing that connects it to vox
