    I am purchasing a Ural in a few months, the main reason other than it being a very cool bike is the community that makes up Ural operators. Great video.

    I find these kinds of videos to be absolutely astounding. Can't believe that the manufacture of the motorcycles is actually sharing videos on how to take care of these beauties. Makes it really easy for people who like to work on our own motorbikes and saves us a pretty penny compared to going over to the dealership to do our regular maintenance. Keep up the good work, hope to see more videos on how to keep Urals healthy.

      I think the whole point is beable to repair beyond customer services coverage.
      As sample, where i live do not exist ural bikes even less parts but with videos like that i started to want one and can use delivery service to get parts.

    Yes, more videos and service tips! As a direct result of your announcement via email and how-to video, I purchased the factory approved GPR 2 into 1 High Mount Exhaust System from Heindl Engineering, and installed it on my 2017 Ural Gear-Up-love it! Also, John Heindl has produced numerous informative videos and he is a great source for information, parts, sales and service. And who doesn't enjoy the videos from the guys at Good Spark Garage?!

    Great content, thank you! I love my 2014 Gear Up, and because there are no service centers near me and local shops won’t touch it, I do the maintenance myself. The Ural is very easy to work on needing just some basic tools. Any person of reasonable intelligence and desire can work on their Ural for most things.

    Could you tell us where to find the smaller grease gun in the video? I've been trying to use a normal (larger) gun with the standard fitting and it's borderline impossible to get to fit properly on those zerks that are set in the V between caps.

    • @haroldshull6848
      @haroldshull6848 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The fitting for servicing a difficult to get to zerk is called a needle fitting and can be found at most auto parts shops. The needle end is hollow, a gentle pressure unseats the ball in the end of the zerk and will allow grease to flow.

    • @UralMotorcyclesOfficial
      @UralMotorcyclesOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We found ours at Harbor Freight, what Harold Shull said is also true, you can find needle fittings at most auto parts stores to fit standard grease guns.

    Like the service video's. Would like one on replacing the sidecar wheel bearings. My 2017 Patrol seems like they need replaced. Sounds fine when wheel is lifted, but when weight is on it, might make some noise.

    • @UralMotorcyclesOfficial
      @UralMotorcyclesOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan, this may not be the bearings. There is a distance bushing on the sidecar wheel axle that can wear over time. If the bearings seem fine the distance ring may be worn (P/N: IMZ-8.107-05520). Number 18 in this parts diagram live.uralcatalog.com/details/14648

    Great info David. I have had Ural bike since they were first imported to the U.S. and I also have M 72 Dnepr war time bikes. I use the gear Up for off road in the mountains of Arizona. To me there has always been a short coming of these 2 wd bikes in that low gear is not low enough to keep the RPM up when trying to crawl over rough terrain. I believe anyone that has tried this will agree that it hard on the clutch, and the riders.
    When is Ural going to come out with a High and low range gear box that will allow the bike over come this issue so the rider doesn't have to use up the clutch to traverse rough terrain at a lower speed while keeping the RPM up? This could even be accomplished outside the transmission, or at the final drive with a back gear similar to how a machinist lathe works.
    The war time BMW R 75 had a High and low range gear box, so this idea would not have to be re-invented. I'm just suggesting something that would make a great bike even greater.

    I was under the impression the yokes on two wheel drive should match in their aspect. Both looking the same and in alignment not offset.

    • @UralMotorcyclesOfficial
      @UralMotorcyclesOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, ideally the phasing should be the same. In some cases the splines on the shaft and yoke may be off slightly due to welding. The angle in the video may have caused it to appear more pronounced too.

    Thank you! The videos are a huge help. I was wondering how to get to that zerk fitting on the final drive shaft. I'll be sourcing and purchasing a grease gun as you exemplified on the video. I have a 2018 GearUp and I'm learning to do most of the maintenance myself.

    love the video sir! I had a 2016 patrol that was unfortunately written off when I was struck. I have since replaced that bike with a newer 2018 gear up and love my bike. I see that there are no spoons for tire removal in the tool roll, why were they not included? Thank you for your videos! I have subscribed and will continue to watch and learn!

    • @dionmoore879

      It looks like the more modern they become. the less standard equipment is included. They are not the only culprit. Try finding a center stand on a Jap bike these days.

      The small u-joint on the driveshaft connecting gearbox and final drive does not have a standard replacement that locates the zerk fitting onto the cap. Only the larger u-joints on the sidecar driveshaft have this option from our supplier currently.

    On my 2016 I had oil coming out the breather, I bought a breather dipstick and that seemed to work, but then the gasket went soon my 3rd final drive. My dealer has to switch to the remote breather for troubleshooting.
    Lucky it was just the case gasket, which was under warranty (part ONLY, had to pay for labor)
    My question is, Why is the consumer required to pay to repair design flaws?
