Excellent series by a mc company that has set the highest standards for both warranty service and customer care in general. Not only the product has been steadily improved without betraying the original motorbike, but customers feel supported and valued. Thanks!
I removed my standard bike battery, lengthened the battery cables, and put a full size car battery in the trunk inside of a heavy duty plastic battery box. I did drill a hole through thr side of the trunk to pass the cables. I also instslled a trickle charger. I live in central Alaska so i need the extra power for starting.
Nicely detailed video. Got tired of dealing with the tight battery compartment. So mounted the battery in the trunk in a metal ammo box of my 2005 model thus making thing easier.
@@gpslost2068 ….the job was not difficult just time consuming. If you have mechanical skills you can think it through. Everything I needed was bought on Amazon. Don’t have any pictures. However I mounted the small ammo box on the right side of the trunk after modifying it so the battery terminals don’t touch the metal. Mount the ammo box first and work to it. Drill two holes in the bottom of the trunk, line the holes with rubber grommets and pull the battery cables through to the battery. Use plenty of zip ties to secure cables to frame. I am in the USA so sidecar is on the right. Good luck hope this helped.
@@russrussell4097 Thanks Russ, I was looking at creating an isolated buss bar in the current battery box area under the seat and then running the positive / negative cables through the sidecar sealed with grommets. I planned to put a rubber battery box within the sidecar trunk and attach the cables ensuring that they remain isolated. I did consider using a heavier duty battery so that I could mount another bus bar for accessories ie. camera and phone chargers etc. I am in Canada so the sidecar is also on the right.
Doing this tomorrow on the 2015 Patrol and yes, it has the single piece plate over the battery, under the seat... Everything is out and cleane up right now, just have to go to town to pick up the new battery, this one with 310 cca instead of the 270 cca the stock battery had.!! ✅
This was VERY helpful in assisting my first battery change on my 2017 GU. It was especially nice to hear/see the tools required to make the job easier. Many thanks!
Just a minor tip - replace the Philips head battery strap clamp bolt with a hex head bolt so you can use a wrench on it instead of a stubby screwdriver. BTW, waiting for my 2022 Gear Up to arrive in about 6 weeks. I just retired, so I'll have lots of time to ride in So Cal. Can't wait!
These are all super helpful videos, thanks David, but has Ural considered coming up with a quick release seat as is the case on most bikes (or maybe an aftermarket add-on option), as I have a 2017 Gear Up with the bench seat, and the process to remove the seat, especially if your not conveniently located say in your garage, is not particularly quick and easy.
Hi David thanks so much for your great videos on the Ural Motorcycle and sidecar. I have just bought a 2013 Bondi after wanting one for years 👍 please keep posting the videos I am working my way through them all. Do you have a index to them all ? Best wishes Karl in Hobart Tasmania Australia.
An odd request. I observed an air intake system on a Ural that I believe connected to the trunk? The bike was being ridden by Ural officials forging a small stream. Where can I find this type of fording system? Really enjoy your videos.
I would very much like to see a detailed video on leveling and aligning the sidecar. I've been too three dealers to get the rig aligned and finally resorted to doing it myself. I'm too old for this stuff, a little help please. Been riding for 57 years, hacking since the '70s. Got my first Ural, 2019, now my truck and other bikes just sit. BTW the videos are very well done. Thanks.
Hey Stu, You can actually charge the battery through the power port on the side car. You will need the european to standard power port adaptor and the quick dissconnect for a trickle charger that has the power port plug on it.
Still freaked out about trying to replace the battery in my 2016 ural ct. Im not even sure which bike to follow in this video. The seat is a saddle seat. Im told to disconnect negative first always. I cant even access that without taking out the seat first. But im also told to slde the battery out the side. Another video i saw show the mechanic disconnecting the positive first. lol A micro brief moment of loosening the starter bolts. Its a new bike. 500 KM on it. But the battery is original and runs flawless. But im scared it will die any minute. Its 5 years old and batteries dont last that long do they? Another mechanic said its likely to go any moment. I wish there was an actual 2016 ct video out. Where the mechanic gets to that negative terminal first. Im assuming i do have to remove the seat. And also loosen the starter. Got another guy telling me i wont be able to pull the battery straight up with all the wires. And no way with my fat hands can i get to that bracket. Thats a seat removal for sure.
Great video, I recently bought 05 patrol, replaced clutch and I thought it was wrong battery, not safe to work on with neg post too hard to get at. Will be changing to the BS battery.
I've had the same battery for 5 years . No problems yet . I figured if my battery ever went dead I would just mount a car battery in the trunk and call it good
I have a 2006 Tourist, and the battery is a pain. Luckily I did not have to loosen the starter, wiggled in the new battery, greased it up with a lot of swear words.

Russ Russell, I've been thinking of doing the same thing. Do you have any advice / pics you would like to share?

Mounted ammo box INSIDE trunk

With the advent of this series, it’s time to subscribe. Thank you Ural/IMZ and particularly David.
Thanks for showing the proper way of doing it it’s always nice to be shown and avoid all the hassles of doing it wrong
Great! I like that you covered three generations instead of just the 2020 - thanks!
Thanks David,
all info and maintenance tips very much appreciated
Keep the tips coming. On my Second Ural now and still learning.
Really enjoy the videos, especially since I'm new to the world of Ural motorcycles. Please keep them coming!

This was a big time saver for me for my 2019 Gear Up. Good content and well produced.
Excellent content videos.I own a 2012 Tourist in Australia.
Excellent video! I should have watched this before following the inadequate instructions in the owner's manual..
Just changing battery on 2020 GU Sahara. Enduro seat removal is a Pain in the Arse. Great video though!!
Great video. I struggled with my 2018 the first time and now I see how easy it actually is. Thnx
It would be helpful to include the replacement battery type.
Great video... good and clear!
Great video, David. Thank you.
Great video except that none of this applies to my 2018 M70 retro. David, could you please do a follow-up video for us retro owners?
Thank you for making these vids
Thank you, This is wonderful stuff to show us. Please keep it up and give us more.

Any chance you could do the air filter next? Maybe even the wiring harness fix for the 2019/2020 starter problem?
Perfect presentation.
Great information .. Thank you .
Great video David!! Your videos save my ass so much. Thank you!!!
Great videos David, How about a video showing how to lubricate all the splines on a 2 wd , I drive a 2016 Ranger

Thanks for the video. If I can suggest - a wireless lavalier mic would improve your audio levels.

Thanks for the vid. I guess installing a battery tender is a simple process to be done while battery is in bike.

Scott Evans can I also use same port for my heated clothing while driving on bike?

Am going to re up my Ural this year. What changes will be coming in 2021?

How does one contend with the diagnostic port on the 2015 model? It seems to me to be a slight problem when removing the seat to access the battery.
beauty in yellow man

Can you put the new starter on a 2014?
Replaced battery in 2019 Ural Gear-up. Check engine light is on and I am not able to find the codes to disable / correct this. SOS ;-)
Does the new style starter work on the older bikes?
Yes the new starter will work on older bikes and is now the only option as a replacement part. MSRP: $189.99 P/N: IMZ-8.1037-18075-01
When will I see videos of 2024 expedition
Does Ural Australia version have the kick starter? Side car at left side.
Yes it does..
My battery died in I think 2010 on my 2007 Patrol... Hasn't been started since...I think it's about time I got off my butt and started riding again...
