  • There is a new tandem in town, it's the Crew from Crescent Kayaks. This kayak exceeded my expectations and is a buy @ $999 (not $899 like I say in the video) for a 100% made in America kayak.

    When I was demonstrating the seat position early in the video I put the seat too far forward when showing the solo position. The seat is in the correct position later in the video when I am paddling solo. I also wanted to clarify that the kayak is $999, not $899 (that's the LiteTackle) Thanks for watching!

    When the front seat is facing backwards, we call that "Date Mode" :)

    Thanks for the great review ... a couple of quick questions ... I understand the Crew has an enhanced rear keel/skeg, how does it track? Does the stern drift to either side when you stop paddling (something my Lure 11.5 loves to do, stern drift that is)? Thanks again for the great info...

    Awesome video sir! You and Headwaters Kayaks sold me on the Crew. We freaking love it! We now have the Crescent Ultralite for my wife . The CK1 is my baby and we now added the Crew because our son is back from college. Question to you is, how hard was the install of the trolling motor and would you consider doing a video for it?? TY!

    • @FishingwithFaron
      @FishingwithFaron  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad to hear you are enjoying being a part of the Crescent family. The trolling motor simply has to bolts built into that clamp onto the transom, strap a battery down in the back, attach the minnkota steering extension and go motoring. Thanks for watching!

    I was wondering if you have had any trouble with the trolling motor directly on the transom. I am looking to put one on my Crescent and I keep seeing people making trolling motor mounts. Just wondering why they don’t attach it right onto the transom like you did.

    • @FishingwithFaron
      @FishingwithFaron  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Roy thanks for watching. I haven't done any long term testing. To the best of my knowledge Crecent designed this kayak for a trolling motor so I think you would be just fine. Just don't overnighter the clamp that attached the motor or I could see the hull being damaged.

    Looking good man! Wife and I got the same Crescent Crew a few years ago. We've been looking at adding a motor to help on the 'return trips' after long days. Would you say the motor mounted adequately as-is or would you suggest mounting plates for added security? Thanks!

    Can you recommend a paddle for this kayak? I am 6'1" and my wife is 5'1". Also, is your extension handle Minn Kota or aftermarket and is a 55lb thrust overkill?

    • @FishingwithFaron
      @FishingwithFaron  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on paddling style but I would think you would be most comfortable with a 250 or 260. I would look at an adjustable 240-260 that would allow you to have just the right length. Your wife may would probably be able to use something around 230cm. The handle is a minnkota and a 30# thrust motor would be plenty and use less battery. Thanks for watching!
