I am really wanting to get a kayak soon for me an my kid, and this one was recommended. Your video answers most all my questions about customization for fishing! Now if I can figure out how to get one without driving hours to a dealer.
Hey great review, nice to see you've had a good experience fishing with your son, exactly what I had in mind. Waiting for delivery on mine now and have a couple little fishing buddies myself. You mentioned correct paddle length to get the most out of performance - what size paddle have you been using with the Crew? I see from another comment we are a similar height and I haven't used a kayak this size, so will be needing new paddles.
I use a fiberglass adjustable Cannon paddle. I think it starts at 250cm and goes up from there. I think I use it around the 280cm mark if I'm not mistaken. Hope that helps.
It's great! I fished anchored under a bridge with a fair amount of current in this video making a ton of casts over the course of about 5 hours. Many boats passing by. Never felt tippy. I'm 5'10" about 160 for reference. th-cam.com/video/xIJZ_g3UE0A/w-d-xo.html
You're welcome! I haven't tried it solo on the water yet and I realized after I made this video I didn't speak to that feature. I bet it would feel like the Cadillac of kayaks if you launched it solo! The only issue I imagine you might experience would be having to climb all the way to the very back if you had gear in the rear tank well.

By the way, I had to laugh when you mentioned communication between paddlers - it's insane how hard it is for two paddlers to talk when the front paddler is basically talking into the wind; i learned that first-hand. Great thing to point out.
Right? Tandems get a bad rap I think for that reason (divorce machines) but we didn't have any trouble. There is no substitute for actually getting on the water and trying things out to see what works. We fished on this kayak around bridges and on the flats in windy conditions for like five hours and there was not a single argument! lol Yay us!

Good stuff BUT… How does it perform on rivers? Not white water rivers but rivers. Shallow rivers & moderate rapids.

I transport it on a set of ladder racks on my truck frequently so I don't see why not assuming you have a quality rack and strap it down correctly.
