Super Metroid's is like you're traversing ancient ruins, finding shreds of culture left behind a millennium ago.
Prime 2's is total submersion. Water so deep there's no natural light. It has an ebb and flow to it, a back and forth.
Samus Returns' is much more adventurous. Adventurous but not without trepidation. Trepidation but not without determination.
Dreads is plodding, but very serious. The flute-like instrument gives a sense of training and patience, and those two ever present low background notes punctuate the dread.

best track in dread. the dread soundtrack isn’t “bad” per se, there are a few bangers (the later part of artaria for example), but most of it just sounds like a movie soundtrack. not really sure why they went with that, when they very clearly know the vibe that suits metroid (and clearly they still know, since they used lower brinstar for the final plot resolution of the game).

@@samus-alita4252 i like ferenia too. idk it’s weird, maybe it’s the instrumentation. i like quite a few of the tracks in principle, but they just don’t catch in my brain. dread is obviously very fusion-esque in many ways, including the music, but unlike dread, i find the fusion soundtrack legitimately catchy.

The main problem with Metroid Dread's music is clearly stated in the developers' reports: they stated their intentions were to create atmospheric musics in order for the player to feel fully immersed in the ambiance of the game.
A noble approach, I'll admit. But the best Metroid musics don't try to create an atmosphere.
      They tell a story.

Metroid will always be one of my favorite Sci Fi universes. I think Metroid handles the idea of "mysterious and hostile alien environment" the best. It has you scanning this unfamiliar planet and its occupants to better adjust and prepare for the threats. All the while even the environment is filled with hazards and mysteries. Grow too comfortable in the unknown and it could lead to death. The music conveys this feeling in themes like this. Mysterious, dangerous, and alien.

I overdosed years ago and Lower Brinstar was what my brain was singing in my head when I miraculously awoke after 4 days of no signs of activity. They were gonna let me go. I remember the nurse walking by my room and then coming back when she noticed my eyes open, she yelled at me to keep my eyes open and ran for the doctor. This song means so much to me. I call it my theme because its first thing I was aware of when I opened my eyes and it kept me calm from waking with a tube down my throat. I always look up various versions when depression comes and this song reminds me that my mission on this earth isn't done yet. Samus is one of my idols. Now I work in the education and the mental health fields, to prevent our youth from going into addiction and to help others come out from the darkness of addiction.

What i fell about Dread soundtrack is that they did it for a symbiosis whith the frenectic gameplay. Samus is faster then never, she's fluid and quick and do so many things at the same time and the music goes together. It is a good soundtrack but i really miss the fact of stop playing and just apreciate how the music combine with the graphics. It's awesome how we fell inside Brinstar when "Green Brinstar" starts playing or we fell the cold of Phendranna Drifts because the music.
I don't fell this felling on Dread but is also a good soundtrack, it runs with the game purpose.
