    I recently installed this along with the Dorman updated aluminum oil filter housing. The also eliminates the 2011-2013 oil filter housing which has the problematic oil bypass valve that can come apart. My vehicle is a ‘12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible. I no longer have the momentary groan at startup and the only thing to watch out for is some residual oil may still be present to catch with a shop cloth so it doesn’t drain way down into the V6’s valley. As a car enthusiast I don’t mind the extra step or two at an oil change because I believe it helps with longevity of the Pentastar engine.

    Ahhh now I understand. Once the adapter is installed, it doesn't have to be removed. Just compressed air to evacuate the oil filter, remove and replace the oil filter. Easy Peasy!

    It would be great if you would advise customers to upgrade to the dorman aluminum oil cooler. The factory plastic ones always end up leaking due to different expansion rates. Doing this first and adding your part will solve alot of common issues with this engine. Thanks!

    • @blackericdenice
      @blackericdenice ปีที่แล้ว

      His part is 100% not needed. When you start your engine. It does not start dry. There is oil left there from the last time you shut down your engine. If you don't believe me. Park you car for one month. Take the engine apart and there will still be oil on the bearings.

      @@blackericdenice Just caught this video and saw the comment. You are wrong. The dreaded "Pentastar Tic-of-Death" happens specifically because of the dry start issues. Just because thee is a slight "film" of oil on the roller or whatnot, does *not* mean it is properly and completely lubricated. It's a known issue Jeep just never bothered to deal with. I have a 2012 JK I bought with 62k miles. I put one of these on at about 70k and am now at 156k with absolutely no issues whatsoever. This device will vastly increase the engines life span dramatically. The newer Jeeps, with the 3.6 *and* the Electonic Start/Stop engines: They need it even more! I wouldn't even run a 3.6l without one.

      @@blackericdeniceJust dropped $5K on new rocker arms, cams (60K Mil JKU Rubicon)
      and the mechanics had no clue that this product existed but mentioned the dry starting issue with these motors. They have seen a huge uptick in rocker arm failure which leads to the dreaded tick and eventual cam wear. Any aftermarket part that improves on an existing design is a benefit to us. Couldn’t agree more with upgrading to the aluminum oil pump. Happy with the initial purchase but like most - time will tell if the product solves the issue. I’m here for it 🙏🏽

    Does the filter housing not have an anti drain back valve to prevent all that from happening?

  • @mrcoolness7196
    @mrcoolness7196 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am using the MS-201-BK on my 2021 Gladiator. It works fine and no leaks. However, I just realized that the original oil filter space still drains back all of its oil back into the engine. So, when starting, it has to fill up again before resuming lubrication. Hence, the new spin-on filter doesn't actually do anything until this space fills up.

    • @JasonsFourCamFox

      Yes mate I would have to agree with you, I think this is a gimmick at best. Any oil it does hold in reserve is going to be so small that it won’t effectively saturate two heads and its valve train. Secondly oil pushes oil, the rest of the system is dry and will need to charge before it pushes the oil held in reserve. Interestingly the makers of this device don’t effectively explain how much oil it hold, where it holds it and how the reserve oil makes it to the heads on initial start up when everything behind it is dry.

Also oil pushes oil, if the rest of the system is drained then how is a dry system pushing the oil held in reserve out into the heads?? How long does it hold oil for and exactly what areas is it holding oil in? Holding in the new oil filter and the bowl where the cartridge use to go or hold does it hold oil in other areas?

      The air pressure is pushing the oil through the filter and into the engine, not forcing dirty oil back past the anti-drain back valve. Only filtered oil. On the flipside, every time you shut down the engine with the canister filter, the unfiltered oil drains back from the filter to the pan.
