    I'm not sure if you prepped for the video when you removed your old filter, but if you unscrew the housing and your oil filter remains down in the housing and not in the "cap" end when you take it off, whoever changed your oil last didn't seat the filter into the cap and it allows oil to bypass the filter, allowing it to not do its job properly. When you put a new filter on, you seat it into the cap and should hear it snap into place, then screw the cap with the filter attached down into the housing.

    Excellent video! This addresses what seems to be a major flaw with the 3.6L. However I have a bunch of concerns or worries. 1. The oil pump now needs to overcome the Baxter and the oil filter check valve, does this result in a lower oil pressure and or a lower oil volume flow? 2. During an engine start the oil pump is pumping against two closed check valves, is there any long term negative consequence to the oil pump? 3. Canister oil filters can become quite stuck and hard to unscrew, that will put a lot of force onto the plastic threads from the Baxter thread cleat lock, will that result in the plastic threads getting ruined over time, or is there any way to hold the Baxter housing with a tool while unscrewing the canister oil filter? 4. When putting 30 psi of air pressure into the schrader valve besides opening the two check valves, aren't we putting 30 psi into the entire oil passage distribution system without any parts moving, like the oil pump, what will that do to the oil pump or other components? 5. If the canister oil filter rubber gasket were to fail and leak oil out while driving, that is a very bad spot to have a large oil leak...potential fire risk? 6. If I start my 3.6L once every 2 weeks, is there still a benefit, are the check valves still holding the oil up? I am sure the Baxter engineers are very good but I am also sure the engine designers were very good. Did the engine designers not address this issue due to cost, or were there negative complications like my above questions. My guess is Chrysler will not honor the warranty on an engine wear issue with a modified lubrication system. Don't get me wrong, I think this is an excellent product and addresses a major engine wear concern. I DO LIKE IT. I just worry a lot.

      @@BryanPAllen yes, the starter will turn everything over without it starting and running until you turn the switch off. You only need to do it for a few seconds, and only if you have a normal charged battery. I only do it when it has set for awhile.

      This is the procedure I did on mine. Primed it twice, then let it run for just a bit. When it retains that oil though, I had to throw in another quart. I am in a 2015 JK Rubicon. So this adapter retains a good bit of oil, or in my case, a quart, at the top of the engine. So instead of 5 quarts, I have to do 6 now. I pour in the extra quart though only AFTER I prime the engine.

      @@HoldMyBeerJeeping I also have a 15, the 3.6 in that year does hold 6 qts stock. I did end up ordering this but the one for a remote filter. I need to install an additional oil cooler due to towing. I figure I will be at 7 + qts after the install.

    This looks likes a waste of money not to mention the added stress on the oil cooler gaskets, which is where they leak the majority of times. When it comes to Pentastar reliability, realize that perhaps 1% of engines will have a rocker arm issue (which is what this device seems to want to address). If there was a major design flaw with this engine with dry starting it would show up on every single engine. So no matter what the counter arguments are (and they can be persuasive), realize that with this engine design it's actually impossible to be causing as much engine damage as claimed.

    Question. How does the oil in the filter Lube the top of the motor during start up? It takes oil pressure from the oil pump into the filter to send that oil to the top of the motor?

    • @HoldMyBeerJeeping
      @HoldMyBeerJeeping 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The oil is retained in the filter. So when you start it up, the oil is at the top of the engine already. It is also in the oil cooler. Without this, it drains out after about 30 minutes with the factory cartridge. I am in a 2015 JK.

    • @jefftenhave8038

      @@HoldMyBeerJeeping
      I understand that the oil stays in the filter but how does that keep the oil in the oil cooler.
      My point was, it still takes oil pressure to push up to the oil filter to open the valve to oil the top of the engine. It’s not like there is an electric valve on the filter that drops the oil as soon as you turn the key. Just want some clarification on the theory.

    • @HoldMyBeerJeeping
      @HoldMyBeerJeeping 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Baxter Performance has videos on their site and on Facebook actually showing the oil being retained. They could probably also answer the intricate details of the question you have.

    • @matthewmeltonTEAMMELTONFISHING
      @matthewmeltonTEAMMELTONFISHING  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It shouldn't void your warranty, but I would call your dealership and ask them. After you use the Baxter Oil Filter Adapter, it changes your cartridge filter to a spin on filter.

  • @rayvarnson8976
    @rayvarnson8976 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Instead of using air pressure to drain the filter, why not use a remote filter setup.

    @1mw4tch1ng 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I do not see any advantage of installing this Baxter oil adapter other than just regular oil filter and the cost of the adapter approx $250+ plus.. Once you have the Baxter adapter in place when you replace the old oil filter with new you still encounter a dry start until the new filter gets filled with oil. Plus you add an additional step need to blow out the oil off the filter prior removing the filter. If you forget this step you will have oil all over your engine that need to clean up..
