I don’t understand this too much, but I’ve been watching you two for a while now and it warms my heart. I hope this world reaches a similar conclusion as I have; we don’t have to understand everything in this life, but we do have to recognize love and always be open to ideas outside of our own or what we’ve been taught. Times are changing and for the good of the world, I want to be on the side that’s trying to understand vs the side that’s stuck on hate.

I might be able to help some. We're not all that different. I'm a female-to-male transgender person. My upbringing was fairly gender neutral. My parents didn't sex segregate or teach me that some things were boy things and some were girl things. My mom was an EMT/firefighter, my dad is pretty sensitive relative to guys of his generation. I had gender dysphoria from the moment it became clear that I was going to grow up as a woman. I remember the moment I became aware of it. I was 9 and got invited to an older friend's all-girls coming of age party. I didn't know what was up, but I knew that people like me weren't invited to this party. That was 1999, I didn't hear anything about transgender people until I was much older. I just assumed I was wholly alone.
My friends, who are not transgender, also experienced gender dysphoria both as children and adults. Most of my friends were girls and almost every girl or woman has that one time when they get a hair cut and it's devastating. Because 'This hair cut makes me look like a boy.' The distress is real (even if many of them feel silly about it later... But we don't really judge those who find the situation traumatizing and learn to cut their own hair instead.). The haircut isn't innately masculine. The exact same haircut might make the girl in the next chair feel cute and dainty and empowered. The issue is how the person in distress is experiencing their body in relation to their internal sense of self.
For the girls in this example, the gender dysphoria they're experiencing aligns with the sex they were assigned at birth. For me, the dysphoria was a bit more confusing because I didn't have the language to explain it... Not like kids today who sometimes have the language to express themselves.
Cis-gender men also experience gender dysphoria. If they're uncomfortable wearing a specific shirt or unwilling to be seen shirtless because it looks like they have tits? That's gender dysphoria. Getting caught doing something 'girly' or 'being feminine' and feeling like they have to make up for it? Gender dysphoria.
I think if we all took time to think a bit about how we experience our gender, we'd have a lot more understanding between us. 😊

My three kids in their late 20s, early 30s. All asked "what do we call you?". That was it. I was so worried and they still love and respect me. They say they are proud to tell people I'm trans. They still call me Mum which I like, however, I love it when my grandbabies call me Granddude.

Isn’t weird how adults are so influenced by social biases that they forget that once upon a time they loved everyone no matter what? I’m officially obsessed with you two. When on T (ftm) I had issues with my moods and stuff. I’m beginning to think I needed therapy and still do. Money really makes transitioning smoother (not easier). What got me was needing top surgery. Since detransitioning I’m no more happier I’m just back to square one (chick with a beard and feels male) but the obstacles were too much and the fear was debilitating. Kudos to you though.

You went public (TH-cam etc.) and decided to show the world your transition and share your experience. That was your choice. And a brave one, because I am pretty sure you get at least discriminating comments or reactions. Your kids did not have that choice. Even if you have asked them, they are too young to fully comprehend the consequences. They live with the consequences of you going public and what a dilemma that is: you show your children how important it is, to live authentic and true to yourself and at the same time, you expose your family and with that I presume (I don’t know, of course) you put an immense amount of stress on your kids, if you do not have a truly supportive community and family around you. I hope you get support and maybe even counseling for the transition your family is going through. As great as it sounds, your kids accepting the change of the family dynamics, you do not live in a bubble, as you know. I wish you and your family strength and patience and loving family and friends around you.

Emmie, Hudson and Desi reacted in a way that surprised you ( I don't know why) is because of how you and your families have been around them. You've taught your children love is all that counts so when Shaye released his true identity this kids totally got it even at their young ages. Wishing you the best life ever ❤

Do they still call her Dad? I know of one transgender person on the internet who’s nieces call her uncle. That’s just how they knew her and addressed her. They use she/her pronouns, but that will always be their uncle to them? What’s your thoughts on this?

Each family has its own dynamic. People are different. I think as everything else, it's a matter of talking about it and making agreements between the members to find a common ground and work out what's better.

I just love this love story ❤️. This was a man who clearly loves his wife. Yes, all he wanted was to be free to be who he was deep inside and see the women in the mirror he felt himself as. He didn't want to lose the life they made together . It is just amazing that he didn't have to choose between one or the other. Wife truly loves her now wife. She didn't walk away from her love and family. This is true love. She sees the soul. It's clear they are meant to be. ❤

This story reminds me of my mom and dad and me when they got married. Before, they were dating yes and my dad was always there, but I called him uncle not moms bf. So they got married and I was 5 years old, so I went from calling my Dad uncle Randy to uncle ducky to uncle daddy then to daddy within 4 hours of them tying the knot. That pronoun for him I had practiced and practiced ways to start calling my uncle randy my dad and it was so creative. 🎉🎉❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
