I agree with you on almost all points. I was an early Kickstarter backer and have had mine since early August. Fortunately mine has been an exceptional printer. I have been 3d printing for 8 years and I think this is my 7th printer, and it is what I believe is the best printer ever made. Hopefully they can work out some of the issues you mentioned to give everyone a great experience.

Definitely sounds like you have a lemon. Mine has been going solid for 6 months without any of those issues. I’m in the discord a bit, and people have problems obviously, but the extent you’re having them seems off the scale. You need to try for a replacement and start again I think.

Given the connection to the channel, that bambu has already established, asking for something would make me feel like I am throwing what little weight this channel brings around. Because of that, I need them to offer it, not me. While some may say "use what you got" it seems unethical and certainly against my better judgment to do so.

I’ve been into 3d printing since high school. (Graduated 2017) was 3d modeling all four years and even helped my high school setup their own mini print farm for the students! After years of off and on research into the topic I decided this past December it was time for me to get a printer to start selling some of my designs. Went with the x1c. Ams comes in separately today. I’ve had the machine for about a solid month now and I am just truly blown out of the water ! Been printing in pla+ and tpu exclusively. And this machine is fast! Had 0 problems with it so far. It sucks to see someone as yourself get a lemon ;). But as a paying customer, I believe you Absolutely should be demanding a new unit. I hope you get it figured out soon man and can enjoy this fancy thing

I should be but I struggle with Bambu knowing about the channel and maybe giving into me because of the exposure where they would push back on a normal user. That worries me because I do not want a different experience.

Man... I'm planning on purchasing one. My pre-order is still open. Everyone has been raving about it. Thank you for speaking up on these issues that you're having, isolated or not. It is so important. I've been printing with Prusa's for a couple years now and it's tempting to switch, but not at the sake of my small business and my time. LMAO...what a video. I have 4 X1C and have been running 24x7 since December running ABS, PLA, PETG, ASA with little to no issues like you have. Granted it annoying about the whole spool situation, for us we just rip the cardboard sides off the poloymaker filament and insert the bambu ones, and for other spool from KVP, MatterHaker, inland, Atomic, etc we just rewind them on old spools that we know work with the AMS and were are done. Our 10 Prusa's are all resting and taking a break now that the bambu has taking there workload from them, because of how fast and efficient they are. Yep it appears that you have a lemon, we have one of our Troodons and 2 of our Vorons that are door stops and are high maintenance compare to the rest of the farm of same or similar printers, perhaps we will part them out for the others. I would suggest to Bambu to RMA you to limit you any downtime, unfortunately we could not do that with the Troodon (Formbot) and Voron since it was a kit. Good luck, I and will be watching to how they attempt to make this right for you.

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  ปีที่แล้ว +3

I wont take the time to rewind spools, that is an absolute waste of mine and yours. Make me a good offer on those Prusas as I would be happy to add them to my fleet ;)
The Troondon was just brought up in our discord. I am certainly interested in it as the idea of a voron kit is a bit overwhelming.
Given Bambu is aware of the channel, they mde the connection before I mentioned it, requesting an RMA seems like I would be throwing what little weight we have here to benefit me directly. This is something a normal consumer would not have and I am not looking for any special treatment. However, I have kept the box should they decide this is the right option at some point.

@@3DMusketeers The Troodons we have and I am referring to is not the new 2.0 which is basically a pre-built Voron. I went through the same issues with the Prusa MMU were half the folks were having success and the others including myself, spend tons of hours and failed multi color pints, and modifications, upgrades, firmware etc, and same issues with the Mosaic Palette. These are all setting in boxes, and my experience they should of never been put in production.....tinker toys not business tools. Glad to see you were not trying to use your channel for influence as it gives a better representation of what their support is actually like for general users. My wife got a new HP laptop a while ago and the hinge was way too tight and it cracked the screen when opening it, HP support told me it was our fault and we would have to pay to have it repaired. I responded and told them it's definitely not our fault and a friend of mine who's TH-cam channel with over 2m subs was going to do a video on it. They very quickly responded saying they will cover it under warranty at no cast at all including postage. I do have a friend who's channel has over 2m subs but he was never going to do a video on it lol. Sometimes you really have to play hardball with them as they will walk over you if they think they can😉

being unbaised is so hard, we all feel some type of way about things.. However, Bambu did eventually agree it was time to send it back. It SHOULD be showing up tomorrow, the replacement, and if so, we should be unboxing it sometime this weekend.
I just want to make sure I have an experience like anyone else would, if I have something different because of my status, whatever that may be, that means I am misrepresenting the company and that ultimately looks bad on me.

Funnily enough I've had a similar experience with my Prusa Mini.
Ofc my issues were not nearly as bad and the firmware and software just work as they should, but still an interesting parallel.
I still ended up absolutely loving my Mini, given how positive most of the internet seems to be about Bambu I hope you will appreciate yours more as you fix it up, though the healthy and fair scepticism and being critical of it is more than welcome.
The Bambu machines are not the best for me either, I like being able to easily modify my printers to my preference, like what I have been doing to my Prusa Mini even.
I use cheaper filament which is admittedly of mediocre quality, but consistent and gets me 90% of the print quality for 60% of the price of Prusament.
Initially, this gave me issues with the Mini's extruder, as the profile clogs up over time as this filament slightly grinds during printing of infill and other high volumetric flow parts.
I'm already printing hot for the print quality I want so I would slow the printer down a tad, but a modification I made to the extruder using a dremel polishing wheel to constantly clean the profile worked out much better than I expected.
For this I've added the feeder gear to the list of parts I should frequently replace, but wear on the profile has been minimal and it has recovered on it's own from that one roll that's so far gone that I *should* not print with it that it made me confident in doing large prints with it.
Furthermore, the PEI sheet game me some issues, still being used to printing on painter's tape from before my 3 year break of the hobby and avoiding IPA to clean it as I *hate* the alcohol smell.
Took me a while to dial in the first layer height, as expected, but got this down well over time and now reliable get a good layer.
Ended up going back to ye olde butterknife trick for removing parts (I could keep painter's tape in good condition doing this, so I can keep the PEI in good condition too) after flexing the bed and skipping the gluestick on ABS/ASA and even PETG prints with smaller surfaces.
Frequently cleaning the bed by wiping it twice with a mild degreaser in water meant for preparing surfaces for paint, thoroughly wiping with a cotton cloth after wiping it on.
Which takes more time but has worked wonderfully for me, leaving the PEI in good condition yet having tricky prints stay stuck during printing without having damaged the surface with well stuck prints.
My printer was a kit and I took my time making sure I followed the assembly instructions properly, yet I did have an issue in the final build.
Centred the back Y bearing left the homing position off by enough where the printer ran into the alignment posts while within it's build area.
The pictures show it pushed all the way back but the text did not mention this, so I had to figure this one out on my own, after a first layer got messed up by it.
On the subject of the Y axis, I have noticed the heater PCB noticeably bowing up where it holds the sheet, even cold or at PLA temperatures, which has translated in a slightly inconsistent first layer (not caused by a drooping or twisted X axis, I checked).
The spring steel mostly accommodates for this and it still prints well, but compared to the aluminium backed PCBs I used before, which I got lucky with as mine stayed flat, it's a noticeable downgrade.
In a similar vein the machine needed more minor upgrades than I'd like for this price, stuff like extrusion and LCD back covers, a few bits of tape to keep cables running nicely and the Z axis and extruder gears needing a bit of grease, despite the instructions explicitly saying they don't.
But in the end, it's a fantastic printer that has been serving me incredibly well and impressing me more and more as I sorted out the initial issues I ran into.
As much as I'd argue that modding a machine at this price point should not be necessary, I love the process and having it all work out to the point of it being the best printer available for my tastes made it worth it.
Prusa's software also adding to this significantly, with PrusaSlicer adhering to my Linux desktop system theme and locale settings, similarly to FreeCAD, which makes working with it easier and more pleasant to use for me.
Printables often doesn't work in Firefox (or at all recently but that was their hosting provider's fault), which I consider a serious negative, but in all other aspects (except forcing 'merican English and time/date formats, I switch between German and English because of this) it makes up for this to such a degree that I use it as my main source for not self-designed models.
And the availability of spares, these often being standard components, has made me a Prusa fan too, even if Bambu does most of the same and my initial experience with the Mini was poor.

      @3DMusketeers  ปีที่แล้ว

6.5 hours on stream this weekend proved this needs to go back, so that is happening.
We wipe with windex between prints on PEI, works well.
Glad it worked out for you in the end, I am hoping it does for me too, but at this time, it is going to be replaced.

yeah I have had mine 2 weeks and I have had a few small things but nothing to this level. I hope you can get a better result w. a replacement. EDIT: on balance I love it, it prints FAST and it prints things my other printers just regularly failed on, even when nothing is broken. The downside is actual troubleshooting is as to be expected a new learning curve since it's not like anything else I have and quite a bit more sophisticated. 2 of the 3 units I worked with were just lemons. A 3rd unit, sent by a fan, that was broken, we repaired live and then subsequently hacked to show the truth of the log files on these machines. They are collecting more data than is reasonable in our opinion and hiding it behind pretty serious encryption.
Since cracking it, it has been working fine, no major issues to report, but we refuse to deal with Bambu for customer service after we caught them blatantly giving us special treatment as we are content creators.

It was down to a slightly bent heat break, and Jessie is one of the stickier filaments that first started to cause me cold end jams. Other filaments soon followed, but the Jessie stuff got it first.

When you were setting up for prints and running the lidar calibration, was the room you were working in exceptionally bright? Did you have extra lights pointed at the surface during? Also, which build plate were you using?
I've found that if the light level is too high it can mess with the lidar's calibration process which in turn threw everything out of wack.

Very interesting but so different to my experience. I just got mine a couple of days ago and did about a dozen prints from included, to downloaded, to modeled and sliced myself in PLA (normal, matt and carbon fiber). I have no experience in 3D printing whatsoever. This is the first printer I've ever owned. I did not have a single failed print. The only problems I've had was prints sticking too well to the bed and me scratching it up trying to remove one and the PLA-CF breaking during windup after a print, so I had to disconnect some tubes and pull it out, which was fairly easy. I also only have been using Bambu filaments, which probably helps with profiles, but as a "I just want to print, not a hobby taking care of them"-person, I am more than happy with my X1C.

Gut feeling: hotend not getting warm enough due to a slightly bad thermistor? If the thermistor has a wrong resistance curve, you might always be printing at 20C too low, causing underextrusion, jams, ... After that I received a shipping number for my replacement parts. So yeah, I really cant ask, because I will not know if it is because of me, or because of the actual issues I am having.

I haven't printed much on the X1C, mostly just small items, and there has only been a problem once. I don't know why, but it was like the printer decided to over extrude for some odd reason. All sides had wavy patterns on them (it wasn't ringing, there were like 1mm deep gooves on the sides) and blobs and the nozzle started scraping on the infill when it moved around so I had to cancel the print. I went and tested a bunch of different filaments first week into it, and one prusa pc carbon blend works.. but then the other grey pc blend has a wider spool, and something happened and I clogged the extruder - now that's not great, yeah I dissasembled the extruder.. pretty nerw wracking to do it in a week after getting a new printer.. and it did look like you could just pull it back, it might have worked, but the cut and all of that prevented to do a cold pull ..

On a related note to the AMS fitting in spools issue. I recently saw someone point an interesting filament dryer. My 3 dryers have their limits (12 hours, 50 degrees). I was interested in that it had 70 degrees. I found out it does 48 hours as well. One thing I mentioned before is that my dryers can't use Jessie filament without it taking up 2 slots. I asked, but I couldn't get an answer. Well I ordered it. It arrived. Out of curiosity I tried the Jessie spool I have. It fits in a single slot perfectly!!! So Jessie is now an option for me. I may be tempted to buy another one. It's quite a bit bigger. It seems like it's better designed than the sovols I have. But the 48 hour timer........that is freaking awesome. Because if I'm printing, I'm drying. It's so annoying to have to reset the timer all the time. And yes, if I forget the quality drops after a couple hours. Then again I'm not sure the sovols are well ventilated. This thing is. I'm wondering if that's why I have so much of an issue. We'll see. I'm very soon going to be printing out of a 4x3 PTFE tube from my MMU rather than the stock 2x4 tube. See if that makes a difference.

By orienting the part with the horizontal holes facing the auxiliary fan and running the aux fan, the holes are much more round. It does leave some artifacts at the outer wall (when printing with PETG) but it's better than it's ever been before for me. The one remaining issue is that if you have horizontal holes on more than one vertical face (meaning only one face can be oriented towards the aux cooling fan) then you will still have the issue. When i run the print even before the nozzle clean procedure started, the Extruder head started to hit the frame, and the front cover detached. I stoped the print, I've run several calibrations, and I later run another print. The print failed from the beginning, just like some of your prints. Nowhere near as easy to remove supports and definitely not as clean, however materials are affordable and maintenance is MUCH easier on MSLA vs polyjet. It is not a BAD printer, it just has it's very specific use case scenarios.

@@3DMusketeers I would really like to see and hear about that. All the details company's like stratasys don't advertise up front. For example in their FDM machines where you have to replace the whole print head every 1500h for 1k . I never seen that mentioned anywhere in their material.
I was looking at SLS or MJF some time ago. And the MJF guys was just lol. If you want service at all you need a care package (subscription), that is somewhere form 100 to 2k per month. No matter if you print 24/7 or 0h. You first buy a 500k machine then pay subscription for the privilege to use it lol. And it was all shady. The dealer said "don't worry about the price of material and consumables, just print and you will make money. We can also work something out about the care package but we have to meet in person for the care package price".
For desk top SLS you have slicers freely downloadable and you can see time and material needed and you can start to calculate. But MJF you buy a 500k black box and then don't worry about print time and print cost XD
Would really be interested in a deep dive video of what it takes to use, maintain and make money with one of these higher end machines / technology's. Like why one polyjet and not 600 MLSA printers.

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The print head is to ensure you dont have issues with tolerances. Companies routinely do this to ensure it just works and when you pay 250K+ for a fortus, it better damn well work. For the prices people charge from those machines too, 1k for a head is fine.
Service contracts are the norm for printers above 10k. It is understood there is a monthly expense to keep it running, and your expectation is that you can run the heck out of it. The subscription is not a guarantee of up time mind you, and if you stop paying your machine still works, you are just on your own for servicing it. On our big CJP machine I did just that and am one of the most qualified users in the US to work on those machines.
I am not sure who you worked with on the MJF but that does seem a bit shady.. I have no experienced that from my local contacts.
MJF is still around 250-300k though, pricing has gone down some, but even a Formlabs Fuse 1, while 1/5 the cost, has a much smaller build envelope, prints slower, and is not going to make parts at the quality the MJF will, that is just coming down to engineering. Mind you, that is not me saying I dislike the Fuse 1, I think it is really nice, but compare it to something from Sinterit or Sintratec and you see why it costs what it costs.
I have 11 MSLA printers (10 different materials and colors with one spare). Only one polyjet. I much prefer the MSLA. Mind you, I cannot get the pricing I can get on Polyjet as the tolerances there are MUCH better. But the polyjet is a pain to service with all the nozzles. MSLA has issues, just buy a new one lol. Amazon is your service contract!
I have done business based videos before but never on the high end machines. I just dont know if it will resonate or come off as boisterous and cocky, you know? There are amazing techs out there, especially when you consider the metals as well!

I never came across a series on youtube that would explain the higher end machines in depth. Just 100 different videos on e.g. + and - of the bambu, prusa, voron, ratrig etc. I know 3d printing nerd does some every now and then and others do reporting from booths at different events. But is more of look at how cool this is (its cool don't get me wrong) and almost never, this is what is like using it, the good and the bad.
What bothered me with the MJF subscription the most was I was told ether you pay or you don't get service or spear parts. Maybe I'm just to small/new, but that just does not seams over all good business investment. I would understand if you pay subscription that you would (taking 2d printing as an example) pay for paper and ink, but all the rest would be covered. But form what I understood I would still need to buy the other consumables (lams, rollers etc) its just that they would actually sell it to me. But I could have miss understood them.
My main gripe with all these pro machines is, that most of the time, these extras e.g. fortus tool head/build plate/material price and other expenses are super hidden. But then again, most of these machines are in the, "if you worry about what the tool head/spare parts cost, its not for you" category. :)

I was an early backer but backed out after Uncle Jessey's video and I regrated it. I pulled the trigger less than a month ago since hearing a lot of bugs have been worked out. I got two days of successful play prints until I had my first hardware failure. I did the troubleshooting for bambulab and told them what needed replaced, but they needed to do their job. Took them almost a week for them to come up with the same conclusion I had already given them and took another week to receive the replacement part. I printed for an order in PAHT-CF and the glue holding the magnets in the hotend cover melted causing the cover to fall mid print leading to a failure. 19 hour print, an entire roll of PAHT-CF wasted. I reprinted with success with zip ties holding the cover in place. I have since gotten a replacement but am reluctant to replace it since I primarily print with PA and PC and don't know that I can trust it not falling off again. I've had less than two weeks of successful print time and not happy at all with my decision to purchase this over the MK4. I contacted support for a replacement or a refund and was told I was just past my 14-day return window and that I should try selling it... my first hardware failure took me out of the 14 day return window just because of how slow the support is.
I have since ordered another printer that will be better suited for my needs and the bambu is now just an overflow printer. When it prints it prints beautifully and the AMS just works, the problem is with the support.

I know this video is 6 months old now, but I just saw it while looking for more info on my X1 Carbon I just bought from my local Micro Center store last week. I can tell you, as soon as I got mine out of the box and set up, the first thing I did was printed off several adapter rings for the Inland filament I'd purchased, since they used cardboard reels. Each of those printed flawlessly, using default settings and Bambu's included starter reel of green PLA. After that, I printed their scraper tool from their internal library and a Julius Caesar bust that doubles as a pen and pencil holder using some "stone" colored Inland PLA. The Caesar bust was my first print failure (spaghetti) at 93% completion, but clearly because it didn't adhere to the cold plate and it moved. The printer did detect the error and warned me. I used the glue stick on the plate and tried again, with success. After that, I printed a Steampunk miniature octupus model using some glittery black PLA. Again, it came out amazing-looking. It was my first model that needed supports though, and the auto-generated ones seemed a little excessive. It took some doing to break and cut all of them away when the model was done. I also experimented printing a vase, using the maximum allowed print size and some watermelon colored glass PLA. It took 8 or 9 hours to complete, but also came out great. I had good luck trying Inland's red PETG filament too, printing off an EV car charger holder to put on my garage wall.
The only oddities I've really come across have been software issues/bugs/failings with Bambu's software. I'm using mine on an Apple iMac Pro and I occasionally import models that it says have X number of errors and advises to "fix" them using the Windows version of the app. I printed a soap dish model successfully despite the claimed errors by simply ignoring them. But a Steampunk rocket ship model I try to load reports those errors and then displays nothing to print whatsoever. I also played around with the settings menu in the software and unchecked everything referring to other makes and models of printers besides my Bambu Labs X1 Carbon (thinking there was no need for it to offer options for devices I didn't own anyway). Ever since then, it's defaulting to displaying my printer is using 0.20 diameter for printing, when I know it was showing 0.40 before that. Maybe that's just me doing something wrong in the program but I don't think so? It won't let me select a drop-down to change it or anything. Will need to investigate further. I tried printing another model now with it still showing the 0.20 diameter and I think it's printing ok but slower than it ever did before.

I guess it had to happen. One of the printers that slipped by ALL the QC checks ended up in the hands of a business and video maker. I don't use Facebook but the actual Bambu Lab forum, that I have seen, has not encountered a train wreck printer. I am glad to see you are not publicly demanding a replacement and are going through the steps with Tech Support. I sincerely hope they get you taken care of.
You are not alone on the mother board fan (I was also told to send a video and what not for a voucher for a fan that is not in stock, nor have I received an email telling me when ANY of their out of stocks are back in - IT problem), so I put in a after market fan from Amazon the next day like many others and fixed that issue.
Ringing is another issue that is prevalent and their tech support has pretty much said that it is the nature of FDM printers and left it. The community is looking at our own solution ranging from replacing pulleys to adjusting the accel and speed settings.
My second print was the Christmas Cabin, and some of those parts were brutal (the pre defined infill on the base is probably 25% wavy lines - I don't use anything but cubic) and a testament to the abilities of that printer. A 30mm sq (?) x 150mm tall chimney with no brim and success... I was impressed.
I have only experienced one jam, and I am pretty sure that was of my own doing with an untested filament and my settings, and it had to be on a 12 hour overnight print. Adjusted the temps and the second attempt was flawless.
I am a bad owner and have yet to clean my rails or vacuum out the innards, and I have gone through 10 spools since Dec 20 when I took delivery. Still running strong.
I have had a few failed prints, but they were all my doing with lack of brim or support when I should have known better.
I can't fault them at all on the design of the AMS. While there is no "Industry Standard" for spool sizes, by and large, the majority of 1kg spools (95%?) of them are the same 200mm +/-5mm and other than the cardboard (fixed with simple masking tape along the ring) it works as advertised for me with 8 brands of filament. Catering to a universal spool AMS to handle any spool on the market is just not practical in a business sense. I would hope that in the future they release an AMS that can accommodate the 3kg spools for the production type users. Until then I am OK with using an outside spool holder for those oddball spools that I have.
The chamber fan is another that needs to have an option to set in the slicer to 70% which is the sweet spot for quiet, and I keeping the door cracked open or the lid with a 1/2 spacer is enough to keep the temps down.
The walled garden and proprietary parts - there will be aftermarket support at some point after reverse engineering. At least BL prices are very reasonable as a complete hot end with cooling fan is less than the market standard 6mm and is as you say an easy and fast swap. As far as the printer OS, it kind of has to be a walled garden for it to do what it does. All these little annoyances are the price I am wiling to pay to park my Ender 5 PRO and have my prints done 3x faster even with the Sonic Pad with more reliability/quality.
Bambu Lab has set the bar for everyone, and it's really high. Put an enclosed printer on the market that can match or beat it in speed, quality, features and auto change spools for $1450.

Check out the Hydra AMS on Printables, I am holding out hope for it.
You can change it with custom gcode, the chamber fan. That is what I did as I agree, 70% is good.
I agree the prices are reasonable, however I have dozens of parts for the V6 ecosystem in stock, and up until buying the Bambu, none for it. So it required about
They definitely set a bar as far as features for the price :)

I wouldn't say it's only one that has slipped through. Although this printer in the video probably is the worst one I've seen, other people with problems have usually been able to print suff, just bad surface quality.
I've been searching for videos of people that have problems with Bambulab printers (just to see what I should watch out for). I have an X1C myself, I haven't had any serious problems, one failed print and the bed is more warped than my Ender 5. Not terribly warped, but warped none the less about 0.3mm to 0.4mm lower in the middle. Not good, but not terrible I guess, I've seen people posting pictures of much more warped bambu printer beds, like ridiculously warped. I don't know if they would even replace it, and if they did chances are the new one is just as bad, or worse.

@@3DMusketeers I should retract my first statement, maybe I had blinders on because I am not having problems other than ringing/banding issues that appear to be mechanical design flaw. RE yours not sticking to the bed, seems to be related to the latest firmware update and only on certain machines, which theories suggest a different lot of components that are not playing nice. Some of the users have had success using the SoftFever fork of BL Studio, and doing manual filament calibrations, turning off the auto calibrate and manually adjust your filaments. Changing the flow and PA is solving a lot of them.
Is it right that we have to do this, no, absolutely no. But that is how a community solves problems that mfgs can't or wont fast enough.
I hope all the part's changing from your live stream solved the clogged nozzle - which may also be related to the flows and PA. Might even be a bad line for the calculation of amperage draw = actual nozzle and bed temp. BL tech support is rumored to be working on a patch for affected users, I don't know how they are determining who. I may be having the same problems, but I only use the textured PEI plate and for a lot of people the only fails they get is on the cold plate/smooth plate.

Might be pulling a bit too much air out of the printer, not sure if it can keep it warm anymore. I need some sort of fan controller for the biger fan. Im starting a 3D-printing business and I have had also X1C with ams about a month. So far Im happy with it. My goal is to print engineering materials and I think that X1C might be the best option for example for PC (Prusament PC Blend ;) ) I know Ultimaker S5 and couple other more expensive ”professional” printers and I think that X1C outperforms them.
My concern regarding of the X1C is the deviation of the quality. My X1C works well and your does not. So I guess that it is totally random do you get good or bad printer when you buy one.
I hope that Prusa XL will eventually come with guaranteed Prusa quality. Someday, hopefully this year… or next, or 2027…

My machine has had all sorts of errors with the lidar camera since I bought it. I just hit ignore, and the prints have been pretty solid.
The AMS has been a headache though. I turned to the community on facebook, and everyone keeps telling me that it's my fault, and all the 3rd party filament they throw at it works fine. . After digging deeper, turns out people are modding their spools, and printing spool winders, so the can respool their filament. My spaghetti detection has been pretty impressive though.
I haven't had any spaghetti failures, but there was a few trimmings from the purge that made it onto the bed, and set it off.
So I was impressed that it detected that. I love the printer but hate the ams. I'll probably print the new hydra upgrade.
One of the reasons I got this machine was because I was tired of modding/working on open source machines.
For anyone who got this, thinking they were going to get away from that, it's just more of the same.
And if you have any problems with the ams, the first thing customer support is gonna have you do, is tear it apart.
I honestly didn't feel comfortable having to dig so deep on such an expensive machine, just to troubleshoot the ams.
I've never been able to get all four slots to work properly. Customer support has not been very helpful.

As a thought, there's lots of Voron builds out there, but fewer RatRig V-Core3s. Love my 400mm build. Another nicety: RatOS installs with pretty much everything you need all at once (Mainsail, Klipper, Moonraker, etc). The three point supports for the heated bed also has some potential for interesting limited multi planar printing experiments.

Also liked that you were still able to talk about some positive features after having such a horrible experience. The only thing I didn't fully agree with was the remark about the spoolholders. I think it's pretty standard that spoolholders can hold a certain diameter / width / size. Even my beloved Prusa machines can't hold certain spools. @@3DMusketeers Prusament does fit in it? There is a video on TH-cam for proof because a lot of people were confused about it. The traditional Prusament spools with the honeycomb motive fits the AMS, the "other" filament that a nearby company makes for Prusa (which says: Made FOR Prusa Research, instead of BY) doesn't. So you are 50% correct because we don't know what we would get when ordering from the Prusa site. I've never had anything but the honeycomb and didn't know the other type existed. Still it exists and is annoying if you have those lying around.
They should have just provided those adapters for cardboard spools in my opinion. Like you said, a big problem is plastic and we should promote the use of cardboard spools.

Because it is my own company, I want it early as we want the name to be known beyond the channel. If that causes some to click off, so be it, they were likely going to do it anyways lol.
