- HI! We're back with Part 16 of the Fury rebuild! This time we're on to the left side of the car, and I'll start by repairing the wheel house so that we can begin to fit the repair panels for that side. I also decided to do another splice; this time the right front fender gets the treatment! The Fury is really starting to take shape now, and we're going to keep plowing through it to finish it in less than a year of spare time...
I hope you enjoy our "Sketchy Dust-in" feature this week: a clean 1989 BMW 320i in for some tidying courtesy of Agent 0842... One of the fastest jobs yet; start to finish in 48 hours, including bodywork, prep, and paint!
Also this week: Agent 223 stops in in his sweet 1964 Galaxie 500 to kick the tires for a bit and Frankers is pretty proud of the gigantic stick she found!

This is pretty much my idea of what Heaven should be. A yard full of 50s cars, plenty of shop space, a paint booth, the skills to be able to use it all, a great dog, and plenty of beer. Asking more than that is just being unreasonable.
My definition of purgatory; working on old motors. I applaud you for your diligence and smarts.
Instead of "Pizza by the slice" we've got "Plymouth by the splice". Been watching your channel for years. You do it the right way my friend

I think most of us hit like and then watch the video because it’s like pizza, you know it will be good just because you know who made it. Unbelievable what you have done with that Fury. Can’t wait for the next chapter. 👍☮️
That ford brings back some memories. I had a red on black rag top with a 390 four speed. Had another 64 rag top with a 289 automatic. That was a basic car. No radio no power brakes. I paid 50 dollars for the red one it was only 10 years old at the time. Running driving car. I think I paid 200 for the other one. Also running driving car. Good ole days.
Frankers and that "stick" cracked me up. She really had a good time with it. Dust ins are great! You make it seem so easy. And the fury is really progressing! So much work but when it's all painted no one will ever know, which is so incredible to me. Your craftsmanship is so superior! Thanks for sharing!

Hi scott and frankers. Yes i love the sketchy dustins! Keeping the lights on, and the damn mosquitos out. Man, shes proud of that giant stick! Another splice? Hell yes! Galaxie is really a cool cruiser. I hate shoveling almost as much as mowing. Put the plow away and get out the mower! Gravely is a mowing beast. Agents job. Lots of it. Massive amount of trim is scary. Lots of work to get it right. I cant wait till you give it a splash! Its been one hell of an undertaking. But shes coming right along nicely. We went out last njght so im late viewing. 700 likes already! I love this same old S.H.I.T.! Best on YT! from the U.P. of Mi.,. revved up yooper. P.S. i must say how much i love Frankers, she ALWAYS makes me smile.

The end results though climactic cannot compare to the meticulous care and attention you put into getting there!

Awesome video, as always. If you are removing a piece of sheet metal with spot welds and you aren't trying to save it, I use a cut off wheel to grind the individual spot welds down to paper thin. Then the piece falls right off with no drilling and no holes in the underlying metal. Of course, if you are trying to save the part, drilling is pretty much the only option. The fabrication going into the Fury is absolutely amazing. My hat is off to you.
Always up for the skilled metal work. Like that valance that's "not bad". Looks like it was run over by a D-8 Caterpillar on the Hoover Dam Project. But, it's not rotten so it's "savable" since you could make it from a piece of flat stock.
Tell Frankers not to scratch that Chevy with her stick !!! ;o)

I did 14 years in a european (mechanics) workshop here in nz. The only place the E30s usually rust is on below the windscreen outside of the black plastic vents. The area that is covered by the rear corners of the hood. I don't know why there, but I've seen a few rot out there and nowhere else. As you have probably discovered there are early and late tail lights for them. The E30s were so much better than the E36s. I like the job you are making of the fury and you are good at making the compound curves of the lower fender lips. That is a real skill. Something to be proud of.

Ha ha ha love the blacksmith's pliers, I had a pair like that, everyone laughed but I used them all the time. I would be wearing leather gloves and have the car jacked up on stands with the wheels off if I was doing that job.

You could offer this Fury project as a Autobody curriculum for school. Its great to see how you create contours and bends with the sheet metal. Frankers inclusion in each chapter is awesome! She collects sticks like you collect vehicles. Always something new and interesting.
When I was a lad my neighbor got a new Ford every year. I can remember her taking us out in her red 64 Galaxie XL convertible. It was raining so the roof was up she told us not to touch the top of it would leak, of course we had to see for ourselves.

Dear Scott, Just great viewing and so interesting! Just love it! One gentleman touched on the Mopar Swedish connection, this is very true ! The Swedes love mid-century Mopars especially convertibles . They started importing interesting cars in the seventies when they were cheap and today you see so many a rare classic cars at Swedish shows ! One year at the Power Meet they had ten 1959 Dodge Custom Royal convertibles and a Coronet convertible. What a sight! The Swedes are crazy for Mopars and the have a very good mechanical and cosmetic spares backup etc... you can find most things for these cars but prices are high etc . Cheers

Scott, great progress on the "Fabulous Fury", although I was getting worried that you were going to gash that nice 4 ply when you were removing what was left the previous quarter......that would have been a shame......LOL. Keep the sketchy dust ins a comin'

I remember back in 64 riding to school in a brand new 64 Galaxy convertible That was Salmon with white interior 427 4 speed that a well off Nebraska farmer bought his son. And he had a friend that had a 64 Plymouth Belvedere 426 4 spd that his farmer father bought him as well.
Frankers deserves a big stick for a big dog. She's a cutie. Scott- you're an excellent sheet metal surgeon. I noted your 3 AM comment. I guess that comes with the territory of a self-employed shop owner. Those are my kind of hours- always tried to work night or midnight shifts as a truck driver and a machinist. I like Agent 223's Ford convertible. Overall, this video is an A+++.

Sweet '64 Galaxie 500 convertible. Until recently, I had a '68 Galaxie 500 convertible, rebuilt 390 V8, C6 automatic, etc., etc. Great old land yacht. In fact, I sold it to a guy in Canada. I'm way down south in Georgia, but I put it on Bring A Trailer and this guy from just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia was the high bidder. Took awhile to arrange shipping that far, ha ha.
As usual, another great video. Frankers maybe bit off more than she could chew with that giant stick, though, yeah? ;-)

Glad to hear you "hint" at saving that awesome 61 Plymouth... it's as cool as your 60 Fury! Chrysler Corp. put a big dent in GM and Ford sales and effected there styling dramatically because of there awesome "Forward Look". I think the 61 Plymouth is one of my favorite year Chrysler products.... like the 59 Chevy there so ugly you got to love them! There defiantly a love it or hate it car... I love them! Of all the 1961 car brands, Plymouth is one of my favorites. You will NEVER see that wild artistic styling ever again. Can't wait to see it's renovation start!
That Galaxy is nice too. I had a neighbor, when I a kid, that had one from brand new... it was blue with a blue interior, and had the 352. As I remember it was loaded, power windows A/C, the works. He was an engineer at the Ford Proving Grounds. He knew what was good and what was bad that Ford made, and always bought what he thought was the best car Ford made.

Tip from Texas, when painting in the driveway wet the ground around you project it keeps the dust down and atracks the pollen

Taking that parts fender off reminded me of doing much the same thing with just my dog and a beer to help me along. I'd be playing some '70's music in the background, maybe Bob Seger or the Eagles, stuff like that........
