  • HI! We're back with Part 19 of the Fury rebuild! This time we'll tackle painting a few more pieces and mock up the the front end of the car, including the badly damaged lower front valence panel. More rust repair too; this time the bottom of the left fender gets a piece made... Also: Agent 673 stopped in so we got a chance to make another riveting episode of "My Classic Darts" featuring the cigarette boxes we found in the 59 Chrysler. Agent 0826 also bought a classic Dart, so we'd better take it fir a spin!

I'm 65 yrs. old, and I remember going to the cut rate filling station on north 16th. street in Omaha, Neb. at the age of 8 to buy Pall Mall reds for my uncle's in 1961. Back in those days it wasn't uncommon for us kids to run errand's for the adult's while they worked on their hot rods or the house, or just in the garage . Beer too, with a note from a adult knowing the guy's at the gas station.

This Plymouth project just gets better and better. It's coming together really well. That Dart is awesome. You just don't see them like that hardly ever, sweet! Frankers is getting really great with the close ups....good girl!!! I had a good chuckle when she was looking up at her toy. Can't wait to see the next video. It's always a pleasure.

When I was a kid, my oldest brother ( about 12 years older than me, ) in 1963 bought a light blue 1960 Plymouth Fury Convertible , beautiful car, sadly a year later driving home from pulling a all nighter at work he fell a sleep and totalled it, took out about 50 feet of fencing along the bay shore freeway outside of San Francisco

Man, that '71 Dart Swinger is *sweet!!* Absolutely *love* that car! My 5th grade teacher, back in the early '80s had a '70 or '71 Dodge Dart Swinger in Vitamin C orange. Back then, though, it was just a clapped-out 10-year-old used car. No one ever thought that these old A-bodies would ever be worth preserving...
And I loved the progress y'all made on the '60 Fury project. That car is really coming together nicely. It's gonna be gorgeous when it's finished.

I have watched your videos for a good while now and you are without doubt one of my top four sites in viewing pleasure......I especially enjoy the amazing job you do, on making by hand, the sheet metal body parts......It's truly great craftsmanship.......Only wish we could see more details....not every moment mind you, but more details showing the sequence of steps carried out to create the final product......It really is great fun watching a really skilled hand create out of plain materials, the parts that you hammer out.........Keep up the great work and cut us in for more time to join you.

    gents,
    - another great episode of warp-speed panel straightening and reverse engineering. once again in awe of metalworking skills.
    - "classic darts" - almost as much fun as "poly talk." (tax stamp should have a date to indicate at least the year of purchase/abandonment.) my father smoked pall mall reds in the late '60s.
    - check the left front camber on the 510. doesn't look right.
    - the dart is beautiful. great uncle (retired coal miner) purchased an orange '70/'71 dart swinger w/340+4spd - new, with his black lung compensation checks - when he was in his 60s. it was mint when he passed in mid-80s and one of his drunken hillbilly grandsons got it. mere months later it was destroyed.
    - incredible lawn boy sign. needs clock hands.
    - thanks for brightening our day, dean!

Slowly but surely the FURY is coming together ...Dad had a 1971 Plymouth "Scamp" with a white vinyl roof and "Tor Red" paint. It was orange I guess....Skinny Minnie tires 6.95 14 if I remember correctly. He bought it from the Chrysler dealer I worked at. It was called Parkway (Country) Chrysler. They had a dealership in Edmonton as well by the same name in the 70's.
Love the Classic Darts section too !

For what it's worth, my mom and grandma smoked Pall Malls, and they were in the soft pack, just as they are today. That's what I started smoking on @ age 6. That was 1956. :)

    • @boggy7665
      @boggy7665 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I thought the pack said somewhere, "Oustanding. And, they are mild!" But all the old pack images I can find have this same motto, "Wherever particular people congregate". Some of the old ads have the "outstanding..." thing, but I thought I recalled it was on the pack. The old ads with "Outstanding..." on a banner, depicted a pack with the "Wherever..." Confused. But so silly to worry about this. As if I don't have anything else I could be doing. :/

    Gaffer FRANKERS!
First off, I'm loving all the extended CWM fab content.
All the ridiculously talented Scott fab skills we've come to know and love,
only now in bonus EXTENDED COVERAGE!
It's truly amazing to watch, really. Got to believe there's not too many people
out there with the hand-fabricating skills of our hero here.
"Lost art" really doesn't do it justice...
The "My Classic Darts" episode is hilarious. The old man used to smoke those
Pall Malls when we were kids. Nice haze in the '68 Monaco wagon when the family
loaded up for the usual excursions in those days.
    Brings back memories. Good ones.
Finally, DAMN man - you KNOW how much I love my Mopars, right?
    Sure, throw in a beautiful segment on a gorgeous A-body 340 A833 4 speed so's
I just go into Mopar sugar shock, why don't ya?
Creative shooting, interview with the owner/Agent so we get a bit of a story, then
a drive, too? Damn, son.... I best go find the Mopar insulin.
Sincerely, THANK YOU for all you're doing for us out here.
The effort is greatly appreciated, trust me.
    Be safe,
    - Ed on the Ridge

I recently went through the same process trying to figure out what the front valence of my TR6 looked like after someone in the past stuffed it into something and then tried to fix it with 3/4" of Bondo. Really nice aerial cinematography with the drone at the end of the video paired with the home grown rock and roll. You are becoming quite the cinematographer. My dad bought a 71 Swinger in olive green mostly because of the vent windows. Most manufacturers phased them out by then but dad being a smoker loved to use the vent as his ash tray so the little windows were a big advantage for him.

The Dart was a special treat for me. The first car I ever bought myself when I was 19 in 1994 was a 1972 Dart with a 340/six pack, 4 speed with Pistol Grip shifter. There was always that slight stiff spot in the throttle when the two outer carbs opened up. It had 2:73 gears and I remember burying the 120 mph speedo routinely. Looking back now that I'm 44.....I'm surprised I survived those days. 😂

The '71 Dart Swinger was sold in Australia as the Valiant. It had different grill and tail, side on it looks the same. I'm thinking that they would have been running the Hemi motor by then as the '72 definitely had the Hemis. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Some of the '72 Valiant Chargers had the 340 motor. Most Valiants turned over a lot before they started. lol

Alright with the 71! That's a sweet Dart 340 for sure! I've always loved those late 60s early 70s Darts, i mean c'mon, in 68 they were sick enough to shoe horn a freakin race Hemi between the frame rails of one, and stuff every engine they made if that wasn't enough. A rollerskate with a nasty small block or a stump pulling torque monster in granny's grocery getter what's better than that? Imo,you have to do some serious hunting to even get close to them. From Darts to darts great episode! Thanks again guys! For a minute there i feared it was almost going to be a Dean delete episode, but alas, ye pulled on through with the goods and he was represented in a proper increment, kudos! Time to possibly get to werk and start trimming up a few lbs o buds, ahh, whereas most inbibers of the magical happy herbs would gladly take my place to get a chance to be in my job,to me it's old hat and I'd just as soon as go right back to bed right now and leave it off to somebody else, my eyes lids are betraying me as I type trying their best to put me out for the count. I'd so much rather be working on my muscle car providing i had one instead of doing ye olde snip snip of the sticky shit. But alas, everyone has their cross to bare. Quit yer bitchin and get to snipping! Thanks again! Sweet Darts indeed!!!!!▪☆☆☆▪

That Pall Mall package looks very familiar as I can remember my Dad smoking those when I was a kid circa 1967-68. I never got into smoking though........tried a cigarette when I was in junior high school (early ‘70’s) and coughed so hard I saw stars!
Never touched another one after that! 😛

Smart man. I wasn't as smart for about 30 years. Got a nice pay raise when I quit, though, lol.

They're finally popular again. Not too long ago they were considered garbage. They aren't too rare. This one is nice !

Such a great show. Sending some beer money. This installment of Classic Darts was shot on location in Shakytown, and truly hilarious.

Hi Randy! Thanks for the note and especially for joining the fine and generous folks who keep this show on the air! I literally could not continue to make the videos without the support of the people who think it is worth keeping around. Cheers to you from me and Frankers!

Refreshingly different in its approach: CWM -The deranged dart debacle had me there for a minute ! lol.
Coming on very nicely with hitting metal things there. Taking shape gradually, it's exciting to watch. ~ Cheers.

I LOVE 70 and 71 Dart Swingers ! I am with you, Scott, on the fact that they should have kept the Thumbwheel radios. I personally just Always preferred the 70 & 71 Darts over the 67 - 69's. I hated the cheap , generic side marker lights and grille in the 72's.

The grille was Beautiful in 70 & 71.

I wonder how many swingers arrived at parties in the 70's wearing flared jeans and big collar shirts and dropped the keys to their Swinger in a glass bowl. At least that's how the fantasy probably ran in their heads :-) Great to watch the work on the Fury and the graceful drone footage too. Cheers
