(I have just realized i'm a little stupid idiot, and missed the part where @Jamie Hughes mentions the particles. I only saw the dynamic lights part, so my reply is only to the dynamic lights) That's not what causes the fps drops. Whenever you fire the weapon, it creates a ton of duplicate fireball particles. There's a couple mods out there that fixes it.
@@notspookwagen i wont act like a spy master I only have 15 hours but it feels like the revolver is so situational. i havent tried stock revolver though so maybe the damage is pretty good
Apparently, the Dragon’s Fury has a Repressurization meter that’s supposed to show up on the hud. However, due to Source Spaghetti or something, it only seems to show up when the stars align on a Blue Moon on Friday the 13th. I only know this because I got it to show up once.
its not source spaghetti and its not meant to show up you can somehow make the pressure meter show up on other flamethrowers, which means that for some reason, the dragons fury is specifically coded to not have the pressure meter show up
@@TheCosmicUprise Depressuration is handled as a meter, and because of this, it can show up in some rare occasions if you used a meter based weapon and the game wasn't able to clear the bar.
I saw this dragon fury player at badwater once with the dragon fury (duh), detonator and neon annihilator, he'd jump around people spraying them to death with fireball after fireball in circles avoiding shots and shooting enemies at longer distances with the detonator to soften them up, and apparently a lot of scouts (like 1/3 of opposing team) had mad milk, so he would also reflect those mad milks and use the neon to decimate them. Most cracked player I've seen in a server I was in.
Yes but due how fast it, it being one of the fastest projectiles, it being reflected is a rare occasions, and even if the pyro does reflects it won't be much a threat. I mean a mini crit fireball and a crit flare does 124, not even enough damage to kill a light class without damage ramp up or afterburn damage
Sorry, paypig. No strangifier for you. However, we will be releasing warpaints for the dragon's fury. Only 2.5X the price for a version with a statclock!
I honestly won’t be able to use it, it’s interesting knowledge I had no idea, but I’m not effective with airblast, it’s entirely luck for me to airblast nothing anyway, and against the dragon’s fury I’m probably just going to die trying, as I would with it
If you're accurate with this weapon, then you're going to be the scariest and highest DSP class in the game. People really should use this weapon more even with some of the nerfs that it got!
Absolutely! It's a similar concept to the Widowmaker: you get rewarded for precise aim and get punished for not playing by it's rules. It punishes those who just sprint in and hold down M1.
That's why I love using it, and it's so cathartic to see enemies underestimating you with the weapon And when they don't, that just makes me feel proud of my aim
for me, the Gas Passer is a good idea bad execution sort of stat(same for TC Hydro, just increase the capture rate of the game mode from 10 seconds to 45 seconds), which can be done quite easily, plus the stats are a good concept for grenades and mines(no item on respawn, has a cooldown you do damage or heal in medics case aka have to earn it, it's own slot so no Team Fortress Classic style strongest weapon and nade spam at the same time, can also be used for utility items as well as pocket shotguns, pocket revolvers, pistols, even one shot nades and even everything alread non gun in the game excluding Demo's shields), right the improvements. Gas passer, make the cooldown in Casual either 30 seconds and 350 damage or 45 seconds and 450 damage, make the Gasoline count as Wet to combo with the Neon Annihilator, and give it a "press R with item active to switch between Gasoline Cloud mode and Gasoline Bomb mode(50 damage with no falloff and causes Gasoline afterburn)" as a way to make the gas passer better. what do you think of this?
@@drivanradosivic1357 I say just make the gas cloud last longer, like 15 seconds, more or less. Make it a area denial tool that makes people liable to getting set on fire if they pass through it, instead of the minor inconvenience it is right now. It still won't outperform the flare guns, but at least it'll do it's job correctly.
@@daddysempaichan the problem with the current Gas Passer is that regardless of the effectiveness of Gasoline Cloud, you need to wait 60 seconds or do 750 damage to recharge the Gas Passer AND the recharge resets to 0 on death. so the Gasoline Bomb mode is secondary because in my opinion, making the normal mode/non MVM mode Gas Passer be 30 seconds or 300 damage to recharge is greater priority.
I've been using the Dragon's fury for a few weeks now and i gotta say it feels much more like an actual primary weapon, rather than the weird in between of the stock flame thrower.
The flamethrower feels more like a secondary with its utility with airblast and spychecking abilities while the dragons fury is more focused on damage, making it more seem like a primary since almost every class's primaries are for dealing damage
Well hell, in TFC the Incendiary Cannon was Pyro's primary, the Dragons Fury just seems like an evolved version. Also I agree with how it gives Pyro a more specific role, combined with the Detonator it gives Pyro a very nice offensive role and tbh I would argue a better class role and playstyle.
@@The_whales And it pierces through enemies, deals heavy damage to buildings, has a shorter range than any of the flare guns, and doesn't do full afterburn.
“Ordinarily, a pyro against a spy is perhaps the single most one-sided exchange in the entire game” Engineer VS demoknight matchup: You sure about that?
@@King_Kitsune I mean scout usually has a team to back him up, whereas spy is built around being alone and behind enemy lines where the team can't help Although demoknight probably does still have it worse...
Demoknight at least can equip a grenade launcher to help with this, whereas spy literally only has the kunai and spycicle, and maybe the dead ringer, but that and the spycicle are only escape tools. I’d say engineer vs scout is just as inbalanced as pyro vs spy instead
finally a dragons fury video that addresses everything I love about the dragon's fury, except for one thing... Its pretty much the only flame thrower that pairs well with the thermal thruster. with other flamethrowers its rarely worth handicapping your range and damage to go for flanks instead of supporting your team. The dragons fury solves all these problems however, with higher damage, slightly longer range, and poor supportive abilities. the fire rate boost also makes it better for ambushes, giving you more damage in the small window where your target is surprised.
Great video, but I would say that Pyro's placement in Offense *does* suit the intended design of pyro with stock flamethrower, just a more supportive role rather than being a power-oriented one. Easily applied damage, with average mobility and decent health of the pyro made him suited at the head of the frontline, easily spreading fire and making holding a position more difficult for a large number of enemies regardless if the pyro lived or died from the encounter. The Dragon's fury is a decently big departure from that. However, since it works best with the flares that share the similar design of easily applied afterburn, it doesn't completely abandon pyro's initial role but rather makes it subjugate to its single-target damaging role.
Can heavy actually out damage a dragons fury pyro? Because while that’s great for a pyro, for us heavies it’s a giant pain considering like a huge part of heavies strengths is that he wins against people bumrushing him no matter what class you are, it’s kinda his thing lol. I assume heavy should be able to out DPS pyro (assuming no Natasha or Huo Long) if the pyro goes gorilla and tries to bum rush the heavy. Like, not even soldier can successfully do that often times lol
the degreaser technically falls in that category. Sure it has 2 less airblasts than stock but it's compensated by its insanely fast switch-to speed, essentially allowing you have airblasts on-demand regardless of your current weapon. So despite you have 2 less airblasts, it's arguably better at airblasting than stock as you get to use it whenever and wherever and this is the main reason why it's the comp pyro exclusive primary
11:07 Speaking as a Pyro main, there is actually some strategy involved in fighting enemy Pyros with your flamethrower, the winner of these duels is the one who can keep the fire centered on the target for longer whilst avoiding being caught by the enemy flames, a very effective strategy is to backpedal when you are doing this as it means more fire will be hitting your target while you will be kept away from their effective range due to the travel time of the particles, if I can give an advice, avoid being right in the face of your foe because it will make extremely hard to aim the flames properly, rushing down the enemy Pyro is a viable tactic and if the enemy does the same, airblast him away and keep your distance.
i main pyro i like the dragons fury quite a bit, but its hard to aim partially because i suck, but it can also be hard to keep track of enemies since the fireball blinds you, and its hard to get a feeling for how far and fast it moves
the hardest part is that u have no fucking idea if u misssed the center of mass or the afterburn that lasts 0.0003 ms run off just as u clicked mouse one. U have to literally guess why u didnt deal triple damage , which makes it feel kinda unreliable
The Dragons Fury in that universe would be our universe’s stock flamethrower, and all flamethrower unlocks would use The Dragons Fury as a base. So probably no backburner or phlog or degreaser.
Airblast whould still have because the dragon have and probally some other variaton whas ginna be whit the airblast have minus time recharging and less damage or fire rate@@mohammadwaled409
@@alex_zetsu yeah but the dragon's fury is better at taking advantage of piercing damage because you can time burst damage shots for when your targets line up to deal maximum damage to both, as apposed to stock which will inevitably have to sacrifice damage on one target for tracking another better.
@@skadoosher7747 Hmmm, maybe he should have explained that in the video. With stock I do focus on tracking the closest target, but I assume good piercing is done when I see 3-4 players light up on fire all at once. That said, I notice with stock my random crits (or intel crits) can usually demolish the front target while the ones in the back die quickly when lined up in a straight line (since they all take max damage) and usually don't die otherwise (presumably the times they do when not lined up is when they are low on health already). Toasting un-revved Brass Beast Heavies backed by the Quick Fix is something I've done, but often the Medic is lit on fire but I still have to follow up with a flare or shotgun volley.
Congratulations Fish, you managed to make a video without ranting about the scorch shot angrily! It's a first in a long journey of steady recovery from your scorch shot PTSD
Pyro is my most played class, and I’ve stuck super hard to the fury since it came out. I’m actually really glad you brought up the idea of the manmelter, because it’s actually a really good idea a didn’t think about. Although the crit is conditional still, that burst would be so good in tandem with the fury
You forgot to mention the Thermal Thruster, it's actually really nice with the Dragon's Fury since you are far less reliant on your secondary to deal damage and the extra mobility really come in handy on many maps, especially if you are good at stomping people with it as the initial burst damage can give you an edge against more bulky targets.
@@kiracharles I have a dream unusual effect just for the Thermal Thruster where if you launch with it, a pair of neon dragon wings spring out and it looks like those propel you upwards.
You forgot to mention the dragon's fury has longer range than the other flamethrowers allowing for intiating fights earlier as well as finishing of retreating enemies
They could just make a link gun kind of weapon like the one in Unreal Tournament. Constant stream of hitscan damage that stops after short range. Alternatively... A projectile DPS weapon with rapid fireballs that are actually controllable (unlike the god awful current/former flame particles) would be much better, something like the primary fire of the link gun (Medium Speed rapid fire projectiles, requires "CHAINING") Chaining is a concept from TRIBES ASCEND (as far as I know) where players CHAIN together every single projectile for automatic projectile weapons landing every hit "chaining" the projectiles. This would make pyro a high skill primary weapon user class as chaining is actually pretty hard considering strafing or erratic movement make it harder to get the DPS off. On an unrelated note Scout needs Nail gun, it seems really fun.
I've heard the Dragon's Fury described as "For people who wanna play Pyro without playing Pyro" As someone who's unironically sold my soul to the Phlog, I could never get into it personally, but I respect anyone who can use it well
I know a lot of people hate the Scorch Shot but hitting someone dead-on with it, shooting them with the Dragon’s Fury, then them exploding to the landing flare is so satisfying

inshallah it is here edit: glad you talked about the danger shield straight countering dragon's fury, you could've mentioned about how the fire ball has some knockback so you can actually juggle people really effectively with it
I feel like this thing could use a resistance piercing stat. Not only would that decrease the stuff you have to keep in mind when it comes to its damage, but it would also modify its effectiveness as an anti-sentry weapon by piercing wrangler shield resistance.
Why do Demoknights even have fire resistance? Presumably it is to kill Pyros who don't use the shotguns since even after airblasting one of them the Pyro can only tickle them with flames if he doesn't disengage. But given that Pyro and Heavies are supposed to the kings of close-range combat (yes the flamethrower actually has more DPS than the Scattergun see toofy's videos) and now you give a subclass of a class that's not supposed to be good in melee the ability to not only go into melee range and win, but also beat one of the two classes who are supposed to be good in CQC. At least stock Pyros can still win and if you're a detonator Pyro I suppose you can just airblast and then run away. Even with the backscratcher this isn't a fight a flare gun or detonator Pyro wants to be in.
Something else that’s worth noting is that the Dragon’s Fury pops enemies up a bit once they’re on fire. If you hit another direct with the DF or used a Flare Gun to light them up previously, you can juggle them! Super fun. Definitely want to get better w/ it.
3:54 Believe it or not, the sharpened volcano fragment has a niche in aiding the dragon's fury. Because the afterburn is pitifully short with the dragon's fury, you can use the volcano fragment's normal flame duration to aid in getting those fireball combos.
As a pyro main, I personally don't use the weapon but I also love it's inclusion, it actually gives pyro more freedom in terms of a primary, when all the others are basically just stock but minor stat changes (back burner, degreaser) or outright broken in a competent players hands (PHLOG). I love the secondary that came with this update as well, the thermal thruster+back burner combo is my absolute favorite combo on pyro
you definitely are not a pyro main lmao. Phlog is utterly garbage when used against competent players and actually good pyros never use the phlog unless they're meming. Backburner + thruster combo is ineffective against good players too as all it takes is for one person to look up and you drop like a fly
@@wtzhangwtzhang9439 hey man, believe what you want but I do main pyro. I play for fun, and back burner+thermal thruster is really fun. If you truly think the phlog is better than stock/degreaser I think you are the dumbest person ever. Low skill floor doesn’t mean shit tho. In fact most weapons with extremely low skill floors are really bad. What makes a weapon good is the skill ceiling. Sure the phlog itself is easy to use but countering it is just as easy if not easier. Just shoot his ass while backing up. The phlog is only "OP" when your team is already winning by a very big margin and if you're team is losing or when the teams are even, not even a pocket medic can make it viable. Even then, every weapon is good when you're already winning or when the enemy team is noticeably bad so it's not something special about the phlog. Actually why am I even bother explaining it to you, you're probably too dumb/inexperienced to know about game dynamics. Also seems like you’re the type who never airblasts and only walks forward to surprise enemies and hope for the best. Which, my friend, is not how you play pyro. So quit calling yourself a pyro main until you learned how to M2 and combo. Your loadout will essentially drop you like a fly if you're playing against ppl who remotely know what they're doing as the sole counter to it is just watch your surroundings
@@beepfd from your response it's clear you just don't know how this game works. Skill floor doesn't mean shit if the weapon has a equally low skill ceiling as those weapons will only work against other freshly installed players like you. A truly good weapon works against anyone even if that means they're a bit hard for beginners to use. So stop calling yourself a pyro main until you realize you have another button on your mouse and that pyro has secondaries too. Pyro is all about airblasting and combos and using your flamethrower as your only source of damage will only give results against other lobotomized players. There's a reason you never see veteran pyro players using the phlog cuz they know they'll get way more mileages out of airblasting and pulling off combos than a temporary crit gimmick that'll be easily countered by any half decent player that knows that almighty trick of walking backwards while shooting at the pyro. Come back and see me after getting your first reflect kill, puff + sting, save a burning teammate from dying and successfully stopping an uber push
I like to run the panic attack with the Dragon’s Fury, because if I miss one of my shots of damage and I need to finish someone off, I can quick switch to the panic and just finish em off that way instead of waiting for the cool down of the Dragon’s Fury
really? i would think since you want to look like your skilled, using the Scorch shot with it's like you love the secondary more than the primary and you lose more dignity whereas with the Phlog it's pretty much necessary, if you go as low as to use one just use the other because sometimes thinking it's too hard
The problem I find with it, is that just like Phlog, you have essentially 1 good secondary worth using being the Detonator (Like Phlog with scorch/manmelter). Normal flamethrowers let you run basically any secondary you want and you won't much suffer (excluding well, phlog and DF).
the scorch shot is way better for the dragons fury since its easier to use and launches people in the air, letting you 2 tap light classes with the scorch + fury combo
I use the panic attack with the fury and it's worked fine, I don't know what you're talking about? Running a shotgun is great for if you're fighting a pyro who knows you can airblast the projectile/an engineer with the short circuit, or need to use your airblast and want something to defend yourself with while you wait for the primary fire to be available again.
... you get a higher firing rate from hitting your target??? I didn't know that! That explains why I always lose when going Dragons Fury vs a Dragons Fury LMAO
I find that the design of the DF inverts Pyro's target priorities. Scout, Demo, Heavy, and Engi are the worst matchups normally, due to longer ranges and higher DPS, but having a burst weapon makes it possible to shred these otherwise troublesome enemies. It also makes it possible to avoid the snooze-fest of Pyro vs Pyro fights by just corner camping or back pedaling from them. Same for Sniper, assuming he doesn't tear your head off as soon as you get near him. Personally, I use Det, Shotgun, or Flare, for mobility, close range damage, or long range damage, respectively. I find pretty often someone will be just out of my range, but the Flare can reach out and punch them when they run, and since it does roughly the same damage as a DF shot, it's like my range is just bigger.
I main pyro, and this video is what made me keep the Dragon's Fury when i got it from a random drop, I had no idea how good it was because its first impression made it feel clunky and hard to use that i almost scrapped it. But then I see this, and suddenly I see this weapon in a whole new light, it made me commit to trying to craft a detonator and master it (I only recently crafted the Detonator and im still trying to master both it and the Dragon's Fury). Also out of respect for you for making me see the Dragon's Fury in a new light, I also committed to never using a Scorch Shot if i get one (despite how incredibly tempting having the mobile god mod gun would be)
I’ve had a lot of fun using the dragons fury, detonator, and powerjack or detonator. Glad Pyro can actually be an offensive class like its supposed to be.
You pretty much nailed everything about this weapon that I don't have much to add other than this also being my favourite flamethrower in mvm it makes pyro pretty formidable if you don't want to use the gas passer, and the nerfed airblast almost never matters because airblast is almost worthless in mvm
Ye-ye, we hear you gushing about the Dragon's Fury, but as a Pyro with 4k hours, I can safely say - it sucks. The fireballs have an extremely limited range, AND can be reflected by an Enemy Pyro. I can remember the only 3 pyros who ever managed to kill me wirh this thing, among thousands of others who I burned to crisp with their own fireballs.
little weapon concept for something to pair with the dragon's fury / extinguisher The Burning Storm A shotgun with the stats: +25% weapon deploy/holster switch speed +20% firing speed +15% accuracy -50% clip size -25% damage every pellet that hits, adds 1 seconds of afterburn minicrits on burning targets on kill, reload the entire clip of the shotgun if a shot is fired that doesn't connect any pellets, you will be marked for death until u deal damage with the shotgun again
Just watching the stock flamethrower comparison makes me wanna reinstall and go practice hitting the people with the very tip of a single flame particle again. It's so satisfying when the stars align, you airblast someone, pop a single flame particle in their landing zone and axstinguisher them. Took me too long practicing it on walkway to be able to replicate in game. Thanks be to sketchek for always showing how high the skill ceiling is on pyro. (Thought I'd moved on when I mained sniper and scout last time I reinstalled but this video is giving me pyro conniptions) Edit: you have given me more fuel with that airblasting the dragons fury fact. I already relish in teaching people you can airblast huntsman and crusaders crossbow shots. Thankyou for one more in the pile!

On the topic of reflecting Dragon's Fury: Did you know the firerate and stock airblast rates sync up perfectly. I wonder what happens if you find someone that likes to hold down M1 :)
I love how much thought Valve put into this weapon. They addressed nearly all of the fundamental issues of Pyro as a class without making something imbalanced or broken. Though they also included the Gas Passer in the same update so I guess nobody's perfect!
I don't hate the Dragon's Fury. I just can't get used to it, I do love me my airblast a bit too much to get used to this one (or the phlog for that matter). It's a great weapon for sure, but more often than not I run into situations where I die and am left thinking "Oh boy! If only I had regular airblast, that would've changed the outcome!". Well, I don't think that my opinion really matters that much as pyro is just my third main. I am more of a stoner 2Fort player who doesn't give a damn about objectives. I'm just there to frag and have fun. . . Is what I would say if I wasn't turned off by the bots. Some day again, maybe!
I agree, this is how the pyro should have been from the start. I have been using it since it's debut and I find it really fun, Before jungle inferno I had a total of 24 hours on pyro with what I imagine to be 15 of those total hours only playing dogeball as he was just so mind numbing in normal game play. Sure you can raise the skill ceiling and make it look cool with combos and such...but I often thought what was the point when I can just run into a crowd and 60% of the time at least kill three people before dying. This flame thrower actually made me want to play the class and the fact a strange one doesn't exist is a crime.
Gonna recommend for anyone that wants to use the Dragon's Fury to also watch lister's "How to Fight Every Class With the Dragon's Fury (And Win!) [TF2]" video. 'Tis a good supplement to this video, and it also goes further into the upsides of using shotguns with the Fury compared to Flare Guns.
Dragon's Fury is, in my opinion, the antithesis of Pyro's intended weapon. It's a weapon that spits in the face of the other flamethrowers, demanding skill and timing in order to be used effectively, and rewarding those that can use it with an incredible damage output. Now I just wish we had a strange variant.. (It's also really good with any flare gun since you can immediately get triple damage from the Fury by simply igniting someone as your approach with your flare gun.) Also this comment was made before watching the video.
The DF is obscenely underrated, if only because people like to go "muh airblast" as if they ever needed to spam it that often in the first place. Hell, you don't even need an offensive secondary to go with the weapon; you can slot in the Thruster alongside it and be just as effective with how the Thruster massively helps in closing the distance.
I think this video perfectly showcases the essence of the dragon's fury. I'm blown away by the quality of this video and how you managed to not only show off how perfectly balanced this weapon is, but also make me proud to be a Dragon's Fury Pyro main.
Pyro's original design was to be an offensive class with guaranteed damage, but they realized that was kinda stupid since other classes can just guarantee their damage by not missing so they added the airblast after a year of release in 2008 to kind of respec him into a supportive/offensive/defensive mix and just left him as is. The Dragon's Fury feels like if they put actual effort to create a coherently designed class during his 2008 rework and should just be the design of his stock flamethrower imo
I'm surprised Fish didn't mention shotguns more as a potential pairing for the weapon. Something to keep firing when your gun is on cooldown after airblast; both the reserve shooter and panic attack are great for this. Also you don't get completely screwed by the spycicle.
IMO I dont really like the DF, it just kills the purpose of being a class that specializes in crowd control for a weaker Direct Hit Soldier variant, the fact that you cant really spy check efficiently just makes me dont wanna use it. I am more of a "spray fire everywhere so you will burn someone" man. Also, most DF users use Flare guns, so they are pretty susceptible to Shotgun attacks from other Pyros
Honestly, i physically cant play pyro anymore without the dragons fury and detonator. The combo is sooooo fun. Detonator is just scorch shot but it needs skill and the video perfectly explains why i love the dragons fury. From there the detonator gives decent mobility so i typically run axetinguisher. The loadout is so fun. The ONLY reason i ever switch off this is for MvM.
Walks away from the keyboard and shout “I’m not even playing”. Gotta love it. //puts on pyro main hat I like your pyro game play description using the particle flame throwers. Too bad there isn’t another with a similar m1 m2 combo style. You know lay a trap, run away, fire your primary from across the map, pop down to Starbucks for your skinny soy decaf latte, press m2 and half the team is dead. Nope no one like that. Better yet take the same class and equip a load out that not only provides resistance to multiple forms of damage but give a ‘get out of free’ card and no real cost. Nope no class like that. Please for gods sake someone nerf that OP pyro class already. :-P
The DF is so goddamn frustrating to use because of that stupid centre-punch gimmick. There are a few hitbox, damage and recharge rate cheat commands in the console specifically for the dragon's fury and it reveals a few things. 1) The ingame hitbox cheat sucks lol, the hitbox is a 45 HU cube, not a sphere, but the hitbox size still can be changed via console. 2) The 'centre' of the fireball isn't a hitbox, *its a point*. That's right, you have to hit the centre of a 45 HU CUBE to get extra damage out of it, which is a huge mismatch between its projectile size and true projectile size, leading to a lot of garbled player feedback. For comparison, imagine that your weapon was throwing cleavers everywhere (they share the projectile speed of 3000 HU, fastest in game) , but the cleaver hitboxes are the size of a point. That's what truly using the Dragon's Fury is like. Its such bad design from a player's perspective because it incorrectly tells you how the extra damage is supposed to be earned, and the pathetically poor afterburn time means you'll run out if you miss a bit and have to start from scratch. Its so damn infuriating, valve give me a strange one already so i can count how many people i kill while bitching about it
I actually found out about airblasting the fireball a few hours after Jungle Inferno dropped iirc, and proceeded to harass some enemy pyros with the knowledge.
i rarely played pyro before the update but ever since i tried the dragons fury ive loved playing pyro. its slower airblast even helped me get pretty good with airblast quickly.
is all fun when u say it, but the problem is with the reflect, yes, you have to do a "50/50" reflect or keeping the fireballs, but with the regular flamethrower that is not happening and that is why i choose the regular flamethrower i played 2 times with the Dragons fury and i don't like at all, is because it changes the way pyro plays... hmm maybe.
The main drawback that makes it unusable for me is that it has to be PRECISE with the aiming, which despite how much I do so, even if the enemy is right in front of my face, it never hits since the enemy is always running around, making it impossible for this slow, short range projectile. Call it a skill issue, but a weapon still has to be atleast usable at the bare minimum of skill.
9:19 That's why it's important to always stay behind your patient but also far away from him, the dragon's fury fireball travels a total of 526 hammer units while your medigun's maximum absolute range is 540 hammer units, that's something I learned after facing a Pyro god that was using the dragon's fury, he managed to get me some times but I still came out on top just because I stayed the furthest I could from my patients.
It makes me wonder if tf2 Pyro would have been completely different if the dragon fury started out his kit. Maybe a crowd control side grade would have been introduced later, that fired multiple small burst fireballs in a spread in exchange for less burn-combo damage... then a weak weapon that was just a spray flamethrower with the bonus of of longer damage over time would have been introduced down the line, a cute but annoying weapon, but because of how it was introduced and lower damage, not considered that good by most players :3 This still leaves me wondering... what weapon change would help make Heavy fit the traditional TF2 single-hit meat shot fight style?

The GassPasser being -good- passable with the Dragon'sFury is a testament to just how much stronger it is than other pyro primarys.
haha passable
for me, the Gas Passer is a good idea bad execution sort of stat(same for TC Hydro, just increase the capture rate of the game mode from 10 seconds to 45 seconds), which can be done quite easily, plus the stats are a good concept for grenades and mines(no item on respawn, has a cooldown you do damage or heal in medics case aka have to earn it, it's own slot so no Team Fortress Classic style strongest weapon and nade spam at the same time, can also be used for utility items as well as pocket shotguns, pocket revolvers, pistols, even one shot nades and even everything alread non gun in the game excluding Demo's shields), right the improvements.

@@bison8962 well u might gotta wait a while cuz its outa stock. but i managed to get one its pretty sick
Well hell, in TFC the Incendiary Cannon was Pyro's primary, the Dragons Fury just seems like an evolved version. Also I agree with how it gives Pyro a more specific role, combined with the Detonator it gives Pyro a very nice offensive role and tbh I would argue a better class role and playstyle.
and as a Fireball cannon it allows for Pyro to have more choices of types of weapons instead of just flamethrower variants.
I would say that of all pyro's weapons, the closest to the incendiary cannon would be the scorch shot or detonater.

finally a dragons fury video that addresses everything I love about the dragon's fury, except for one thing...
I would argue that the backburner is a rather good option

Honestly, Pyro fills a role thats similar to the Medic, but dealing damage instead of healing damage
I love this thing. Bumrushing a Heavy and saying "You think you have damage?! PATHETIC" is very exhilerating.

the degreaser technically falls in that category.

The problem I find with it, is that just like Phlog, you have essentially 1 good secondary worth using being the Detonator (Like Phlog with scorch/manmelter). Normal flamethrowers let you run basically any secondary you want and you won't much suffer (excluding well, phlog and DF).

... you get a higher firing rate from hitting your target???

That's an ax'n is what that is
The Dragons Fury is good because it actually functions like a primary
I love how much thought Valve put into this weapon. They addressed nearly all of the fundamental issues of Pyro as a class without making something imbalanced or broken. Though they also included the Gas Passer in the same update so I guess nobody's perfect!
Been seeing a lot of vids from you recently, high quality tf2 stuff is rare these days. Great work!
I am so glad you finally did my favorite flamethrower.
(It's also really good with any flare gun since you can immediately get triple damage from the Fury by simply igniting someone as your approach with your flare gun.)
Also this comment was made before watching the video.
Is nobody going to mention the epic Chinese dragon thumbnail?
"I need to **AIM** this pyro primary? TERRIBLE WEAPON!" - most Pyro mains in the game.
most of the time I feel like playing with flare gun only is easier than consistently hitting anything for 75 damage with this
@@lambert_the_reckless993 As a person who primarilly plays medic & Pyro,
Yeah! The Flares and thiccSyringes are actually REALLY easy to aim
9:36 I love how it cuts off right before he dies of fall damage
I respect the Dragon's Fury for actually making pyro enjoyable to play against lmao
in my opinion the dragons fury may be fun to play with but it is super unfun to play against since it melts you so fast

//puts on pyro main hat
I like your pyro game play description using the particle flame throwers.
That is one dope ass thumbnail
I love how at 16:04 when fish mentions heavy, a heavy just drops out of the sky, random, but a nice detail that keeps replaying in my head
i rarely played pyro before the update but ever since i tried the dragons fury ive loved playing pyro. its slower airblast even helped me get pretty good with airblast quickly.
is all fun when u say it, but the problem is with the reflect, yes, you have to do a "50/50" reflect or keeping the fireballs, but with the regular flamethrower that is not happening and that is why i choose the regular flamethrower i played 2 times with the Dragons fury and i don't like at all, is because it changes the way pyro plays... hmm maybe.
dragons fury is a REAL flamethrower
unlike all the others
STRANGE DRAGONS FURY, MAKE IT HAPPEN VALVE
18:44 The most powerful class in the game
Maybe a crowd control side grade would have been introduced later, that fired multiple small burst fireballs in a spread in exchange for less burn-combo damage... then a weak weapon that was just a spray flamethrower with the bonus of of longer damage over time would have been introduced down the line, a cute but annoying weapon, but because of how it was introduced and lower damage, not considered that good by most players :3
This still leaves me wondering... what weapon change would help make Heavy fit the traditional TF2 single-hit meat shot fight style?
