Incredible insight on the importance of correct baby-wearing to prevent hip development issues. Many first-time parents might be surprised to learn about the 'M' position and its role in healthy hip joint formation. This video serves as a valuable resource, highlighting the significance of informed parenting choices. A must-watch for all new parents looking to support their baby's development.

Sounds like it may be genetic, did your parents share how you developed as a wee one? I’ve found my daughter in particular has been very similar to me ❤ and sounds like you’re super switched on btw, your kiddies are lucky to have you
my son was only in a “container” for my 10 min showers, and quick errands. the rest of his awake time was spent on the floor… he’s been crawling since 5 months and confidently walking since 10.5 months!
@@user-me2bc2zd8qin my case, exfoliating gloves helped me w lathering and such. made the showers quicker lol. then using a wash rag afterwards and about 10-15 mins all done.
I needed to see the one about container hopping. With a 2,5 year old brother who is always on the move and wants to go places, I place my baby in various containers often without thinking to keep him safe or to be able to take him with me as I do stuff with toddler. I'll definitely try to be more mindful of the importance of floor time from now on.
So, I never restricted my sons movements from birth per your advice in previous videos. When he was awake, I would put him on the floor on a play mat and did lots of tummy time. His pushchair was a bassinet type, so he would still be able to move about while being on his back. From two months he was able to slowly push himself towards. At 4 months, he was sitting up. At 5 months, he was pushing crawling backwards. At 6 months, he was crawling properly on his hands and knees and had learned to stand. So I definitely agree with the advice.
I started tummy time a week after my baby was born and she met all her milestones early or right on time. I will say you can do tummy time on your chest when they are new borns and it’s just as helpful
Exactly the same result, except we use infant seat for strolling around. Shes 7 months and pulls herself up to standing. I don’t know about u but at first i was worried about the amount of movement but now I believe she is/was just working out those little muscles before game day… and then bam she’s cruising today.
@@andrestrindadefrom day 1 on my stomach, and only a minute or two from 6 weeks. He's always been able to lift his head up. I also used a nursing pillow for his tummy time. A mirror and black and white books for him to look at.
@andrestrindade I started from birth. And but him the floor at 4 weeks. Tummy time can be from your chest which I did. Once hid belly button healed I would give him a few minutes on his stomach until he could hold his head up. By 2 months he rolled over, Seat with assistance at 4, unassisted at 5 Crawled 5.5, stood up at 6, cruised at 7 and walked at 8. All to say I let him run free and help me when he was stuck to teach him.
your channel has changed my life! first time mom w a 5 month old i watched so many of ur videos while i was pregnant her pediatrician always says how advanced she is thank you for all your tips and advice! truly does work cant wait to see how far she comes in the next few months
Me and my brothers jumping out the gym and all standing above 6 ft but we might’ve been anomalies cause the bouncer was our favorite past time (our Mom and Dad even came up with a song about jumping cause of it) seen so much film of it on VHS but I am going to be mindful of this advice with my newborn thank you
This is so informative,, my 4 month old son actually dislikes being in a swing or chair for too long which is great plus I love to see him wiggle around 😊
@@JuliaClarke-StHillwell a two month old doesn’t want to be alone. Independence isn’t something a baby that young needs. My baby is 11 weeks old and is always being held by me and has constant contact. I am able to let him play by himself for short durations of time, but he still cries out when he wants me back. And of course I go grab him and bring him to where I’m at. Babies don’t need to be able to be on their own at such a young age. They need their mom or dad and they need to know that we’ll be there when they cry. It’s good to let them play and sleep alone when they want to though. But independence is something you work towards as they age.
This is good general advice, but I think people can take it the wrong way. Reaching baby milestones is not a race, and no one but you will remember if they rolled at 2 months or 4. As long as you don't do anything egregious or unsafe, it's totally fine to let your baby develop at his/her own pace. We did tummy time every wake period since day #1 (at our pediatrician's advice) and pretty much did everything that this video suggested. He hit all his motor milestones exactly at the median or a bit later: rolling back to front at 4.5m, sitting at 6.5m, crawling/cruising at 9m, walking at 14m. I think a lot is temperament: he's just very cautious and risk-averse (so are his parents).
We definitely don’t want to rush milestones in general, but I think the longer a baby crawls, the better that is for their development. I think that might be the point of her argument.
This is a great video. I don’t believe in giving kids electronics they become hypnotized and numb! I don’t like to see it either but to each his own 🤷🏽♀️
Once I heard a doctor saying that a baby develops on the floor. I always kept my baby as much as possible on the floor. I don’t know if it’s related but he started to walk at 9.5 months. Edited to say I followed other tips from dr Emma like keeping baby barefoot at home for playtime and not teaching him to walk holding his hands. Also, this is only my experience and every baby is different.
Congratulations for walking so early! But, as someone with a child care and development degree, its okay for a child to learn to walk later. Its all about overall development. Some will learn later. But putting an emphasis on activities is the best way to set your child up for a good start.
Fantastic video and a must-watch for all new parents! The emphasis on minimizing 'container hopping' and encouraging floor play provides an essential foundation for healthy development. It's incredible how simple changes in our daily routines can significantly enhance our baby's physical and cognitive growth. I'd like to add a point about the importance of 'tummy time' for newborns, which complements the video's message wonderfully. Tummy time, when a baby is awake and supervised, is crucial for developing neck and shoulder muscles, improving motor skills, and preventing flat spots on the back of the head. Starting tummy time early, even for just a few minutes a day, and gradually increasing the duration can make a big difference in your baby's development. Additionally, engaging with your baby through face-to-face interaction, talking, singing, and reading during floor play can greatly boost cognitive and emotional development. These interactions not only strengthen your bond with your baby but also support language development and social skills. Thank you for sharing such invaluable insights and practical tips. Your guidance helps us create a nurturing environment that supports our little ones' growth and well-being.
@dandriabarnett7980 You can sit or lay down on the floor right in front of or next to them. You can also place them on the floor right by where you are sitting in a chair/ on the couch so they can still hear you talking, singing or reading to them. And of course, you can hold them for some face to face bonding time separate from their floor play time. 😊
I was actually told by a doc in emergency department to let my 2 month old sleep in her car seat or chair at night because she was very congested with a respiratory virus. I didn't take the advice though. I just stayed awake most of the night to hold her while she slept.
thats shocking the only reason i can think why he might suggest this is its a more up right possition and mucus or congestion will be less likely to clog airways. I would not follow that advice as i think concern of aphxyation is more likely (sorry for spelling).
This is super informative! Especially the sections on container hopping and positional plagiocephaly. I've shared your channel before with new parents because the information you share is really helpful, but I'd love to share it with my newsletter subscribers in the near future.🙂
So true, my daughter weren't in carriers and had a lot of freerange to our living room and couch so went straight to walking at 6 months and rolled really early as well. I had no idea that it was because she had so much time doing tummy time that she learned to roll and walk so early.
They didn't know about correcting the torticollis when I was a baby to the point that my neck ended up tilted on one side and I had to have surgery at 2yo. Thank you for educating parents on this now!
My kids were in a bouncer and car seat a lot. None of them had any issues and were athletic and active. I remember getting advice to put them in a seat aftet feeding to prevent reflux and spit up. I have triplet grandbabies now and we are just learning about this 😮 the triplets are preemie boys born 2 months early. They are almost 2 months now and their due date is the 29th of this month. 2 of them are already rolling. They wiggle and squirm constantly and we are avoiding seats.
@@aliciareese6395 doesn't anyone use a playpen anymore, instead of all these "contsiners" ? I think a playpen is much safer than the floor with the same benefits .
Great video. I don't have kids, but I have friends who do. I've never thought about any of these things. Some are counterintuitive, so easy not notice, but make a lot of sense once you lay it out.
As a first-time mother-to-be, I have been watching your videos so much. Your channel is one of a few trustworthy sources with all the evidence-based information. I would like to ask if you can do a video on second language learning. I and my husband are not-so-fluent English speakers. How can we teach our infant or at least expose him to English at home, without hiring a native English-speaking nanny or using any 'language learning' videos? Thank you so much!!
If you live in an English speaking country, dont even worry about it. Theres no way they wont pick up the English language. School, going out, movies, TV shows etc
My baby have torticollis and she presented signs at 3 months. She is with a Physical Therapist and Chiropractor. Both of these specialist recommends the football hold. They said it’s the #1 recommended hold.
For the most part, I agree. But for disabled parents, a rocker might be the only way to rock the baby at all, if that is what comforts them, and a wrap or indoor stroller could be the only way to safely get baby from room to room. We will need these with our baby, but she will still be getting plenty of floor, tummy, and proper play time ❤
@@briserenity 🤣 I always have to show them a dated video! My firstborn started swinging from things at 6 months, by 7 months she was walking holding on to things and by 9 months she was walking pretty balanced.
My son had torticollis and required physical therapy. Would highly recommend being intentional about helping baby use the sides they don’t naturally lay on
I've seen the advice of placing toys, books or even yourself on the opposite side of their head tilt to encourage them to look in that direction. I thought it was super smart!
I didnt walk till i was almost 2 because my mother always had me in a high chair to keep me from moving around. My daughter startrd walking alone without assistance after her first birthday. I made sure to always be actuvw with her. Taking her to the park everyday and staying active indoors with her ladder.
I’m really glad you talked about positional asphyxiation, car seats are a big one for that especially now it’s common to have a clip that attaches car seats to prams. Please don’t do this unless the total amount of time for both trip there, around the store/park/whatever and back home is less than 40 mins- this isn’t a made up figure the NHS in the UK have it on their site for a reason. I live so far from stores and family that I had to purchase a “car cot” - it’s a flat lying down car seat made by maxi cosi and used that for the first 6 months of my sons life because everywhere I needed to go like stores and the GP were an hour away, family being 7 hours away. Don’t take risks with your kids ❤❤❤ You’d be horrified to know how many babies are being brought to A&E limp due to positional asphyxiation in car seats these days 😢
8:12 What angle does the head need to be where there's a risk of positional asphyxiation? It would seem in the example in the video the baby would need to work against gravity to lift his head and get his chin against the chest.
I was told by the first or second pediatrician that saw my daughter to massage her slightly tighter muscle every day. I tried it once and her cry hurt my heart so bad, i didn't touch again and her neck was perfectly fine within a few days. She just had her head turned one way for a really long time before I gave birth. She was in position for birth pretty early on.
Your videos and some i saw on tiktok before my 11 month old was born really promoted floor and tummy time and i really went for it! Yes i still use containers especially now that he is very mobile and in everything but his early days i tried to keep it to a minimum despite both grandmas had a lot to say about this haha but! He starting moving around really quick! ❤
this is great, but what if your little one hates floor time? my 4 month old screams and gets super unhappy if i put him on the floor. i dont want to leave him to cry and scream for even a little bit. he loves his swing and almost everytime it calms him down if hes crying.
Does anyones 6 month old hate tummy time??? My baby cries into the floor and stops trying to move? She hasn’t rolled on her own yet and i feel i give her lots of tummy and back time. She meets the milestones of ;tracking ,grabbing stuff, responding to her name, laughs, and makes eye contact and grabs toes and rocks side to side etc. but she wont roll, help!
My lil is 5 months and disliked tummy time. I started rolling him over and back as a fun activity. Sometimes I would lay him on his belly and coax him to lift his head for 2 mins and slowly increased over time or when he gets very fussy. His doc recommended Pt and after the first appt I noticed an increased difference- he dos not dislike it as much especially now that he can roll over from tummy to back. He started now rolling from back to tummy. Also seeing another baby do it and get round I think encouraged him.
I would start his tummy time when he woke up in the morning- to limit spit up and plus he is more complacent since he is still waking up. I would do a lil morning stretch to get him started when he was on his back. It also helped relieve any excess gas, then rolled him over. Then I imitate the movement or motion I wanted him to try. He would look at me like “silly mommy” or sometimes actually try to mimic me for a few minutes before he is like I’m over it and ready to eat. I would do this after every nap time and a bit before he goes to bed- 3-5 times a day. Starting at 2 mins and then try to work it up to 5 mins. He would mainly last 2 mins and the.n start to fuss. But I learned a lot at P.T and using the Kinedu app has very useful activities that ranges and some are just 5 mins. It is pricey but it’s annual and has helped me a lot. Especially since I can’t afford a lot of gadgets or toys.
My 5 months plus baby rolls over her tummy on her own, stays in that position for upto 5mins before she tries to get up. She gets up on her feet when you hold both hands.
We bring our baby’s play mat when we go to friend’s houses for long periods of time. Husband and I usually carry our baby when we go into places. And one of us has the Bjorn Incase we both need to be hands free for a moment.
Why didn't you add car seats to the list of things that can cause positional asphyxiation? It's so common for parents to just leave their babies in the car seats to sleep after a car journey, not realising how dangerous that is. Or not making enough brakes out of the car seat during a journey.
Agreed. My daughter almost died in a car seat and she was in there for not long, just going to the doctor. it's dangerous if you leave them in a car seat and then take them into the supermarket in that car seat or transfer to pram especially in hot weather.
The diagram you used for positional plagiocephaly is actually a picture for a more serious condition called craniosynostosis. In positional plagiocephaly the sutures would still remain open, but the image that was used showed the lamboid suture as fused, hence being cranio. It might be good to do a video at some point on paediatric issues to spread awareness like craniosynostosis, undescendend testes, tongue ties, plagiocephaly and tortocollis (repetition), breastfeeding difficulties, jaundice etc. Just a really basic introduction, not medical advice, but just a bit of information so people know about common conditions to know if they may need to seek medical attention for their kid.
id be so happy for her to do this video! I actually know a few people who's children had this condition and it went undiagnosed for a very long time because everyone told them that babies have weird heads till they are older... terrible advice
@themarieoakes yes, my baby had torticollis/flat head. I caught it at a few weeks old. Looking back I felt something was wrong when she was first born. It took many months and multiple providers for her to be correctly diagnosed and set up for PT. This set her back for many things. PT was not working after months she still couldn't turn her head. So the therapist suggested having her tongue and lip ties looked at. Again misdiagnosed many times. Finally found someone that said she had both. Had the surgery done and she finally started making progress with turning her head, and drinking a full bottle without crying.
Please don't give screens to kids. Virtual autism is a real thing. My son doesn't qualify for autism but he has no eye contact, little attention and langauge delay.
I am currently having these issues with my two year old daughter😢😢. I had it stopped completely as she’s displaying the symptoms of autism as a result of prolonged screen time. Never again!!!
Just jumping in here about screen time and to see what other mothers think. I’m a 90’s kid who was glued to the 📺. Grew up on loads of old school shows etc. Fast forward to today, we have phones and iPads that are pretty much on-the-go screens that are much more closer to the face and provide on-demand entertainment. None of that, wait until the next episode or worse, none of being able to choose what show came up next. Granted that screen time isn’t inherently bad and can be used as a tool, is it safe to say that the issue is how quickly or fast these kiddies shows are? Like the amount of frames changing per minute must be record breaking with fast moving scenes, colours, text etc.?? Our shows back then were SUPER slow in movement in comparison and not as vibrant maybe 🤔
My baby is super active. Climbs, walks, crawls as early as 8 months. At the same time, she totally freezes if put in a container or carry her in hands. If I do not let her play on the floor in her Playpen she would not move a muscle all day.
I always just placed him on his mat, gave him a lot of space so he at 7 months is rolling, sitting, almost crawling...he moves SO MUCH! reaches for everything and basically goes anywhere he wants, we have only used his baby swing for short periods of time and on very specific moments, i always took care of switching him each week on his basinet so he would turn to look at me, like i didn't know this things were important, but kinda seemed to make sense to do them this way on instict...
@30251 as long as you are doing tummy time multiple times a day their good to go, tummy time can be done on the floor or mat or even your chest but should never be left unattended due to the fact that they can't roll and could go straight face down and suffocate. Essentially don't put them in a fixed position container for extended amount of time, use them to get a chore done or use the restroom. Then for all other times ether be holding the baby or lay them on their backs so they can wiggle and move.
@@30251also tummy time ends when they start not being able to lift their heads, early on it ends in a few minutes as time goes by they go for about 15 minutes
Thank you, these are great tips! I do believe the baby is too low in your 'correct babywearing' video, which could also cause asphixiation! The M shape is important but that too!
Whenever my babies fell asleep in the carseat and I really didn't want to wake them up, I propped the seat to lean backwards, so I could see that the chin is not touching their neck and their backs are horizontal. I also kept them close and checked if they're breathing every few minutes. Also if they fell asleep during the car ride, I would check on their breathing on every red light, just in case.
I would caution parents against letting baby sleep in a car seat outside of the car. There have been a number of parents who have gone public with warnings about doing this because their baby died. It's just not worth it as a general rule.
I left all three of my babies on the floor with their toys and just made sure their surroundings were safe. My firstborn started walking while holding on to things at 7 months, my second was a big crawler at 6 months and started walking holding on to things at 8 months. Both walked pretty balanced by 9 months. Now with my third he’s 7 months and a crawler. I would definitely say that besides floor play, I also spent a lot of time practicing on the bed and couch to strengthen their core.
Good thing my baby hated bouncers, car seats and any devices that restricted her movements. Could not even use a playpen. She’s been on the floor since she started rolling at 2.5 months
In India we hate strolers and car seats earlier, but now due to this modernization its slowly crawling into our society too.. My wife & myself carry my toddler around when going out and we never bought walker as well, my baby walked by 2.5 years naturaly...
Thank you so much ❤ Would you please tell us why babies fall down their food? Does it mean they are full? I am really tired of cleaning. When it will be finished? My boy is 11 months old.
my son is almost 3 and sometimes he will still throw food on the floor (although rarely), but when he was about 1.5 years old things with food got much easier. don't take my advice as medical advice but as long as you still feed him breast milk\ formula you don't need to be stressed about him throwing the food away when he is done, it could be for multiple reasons- he could be full\ not like the food\ or just bored and wanting to play..at this age they are still just starting their journey with food and the best advice I have been given is to let them decide when they are finished with food and not stress about it even tho cleaning afterwards is a pain. try to make each meal time a positive experience with new things or new presentation of food, and eat with him next to him..this will help him the best way to open up to new kinds of food and also to manners and what to do or not to do...besides that brace yourself with some more patience and soon it will be rewarded!
Thank you for sharing your story. Please dont find me rude for asking, did your daughter ever watch anything on tv/ipad ? Theres studies to say using tablets/tv slows down speech development etc. i am always interested to learn case by case whether that has impacted the delayed speech / maybe not impacted on autism but could it contribute at all?
My daughter did see tv and iPad. She’s now 22 months old with EXTREMELY advanced speech. I interacted with her with the tv and iPad a lot of the time, but she has had advanced speech from a very young age. So, it seems that isn’t always the case. I sometimes wonder about the grey area relates to the statistics. That said, I think no screen time at all would def not be a bad thing,
My son didnt have a portable carseat and he hated strollers. I wore him only a few hours a day, and we mostly carried him around with just our arms and he had lots of floor time. He walked at 9 months so maybe that helped.
I have heard tummy time is important for them to build strength in their neck to hold their head up too. I'm also going to buy an otteroo floaty that goes around their neck so my daughter can start swimming in the tub at two weeks.
This is way easier said than done. I live in a little house with nothing put concrete flooring everywhere. I also have to take my daughter to school every morning which puts us in the car for about 30 minutes total at least unless I have to stop and shop somewhere also so he can be in the car seat for an hour to a few hours sometimes but I take him out to breastfeed him before we head home. I had to do a lot of this with my daughter also and she turned out fine. Of course I'm going to try to get him on a flat surface more now that I have a little rug and I'm going to put some blankets down but I can't just leave him there when I have so much to do like wash clothes by hand. I might try using our pack and play it just feels so uncomfortable but I guess it's better than the concrete floor lol
This is a very informative video but my question is what are you supposed to do? You have to sometimes put your baby in this devices, so what’s the best way to handle it to protect your child?
Good question! I'm not saying don't use them at all. You're right, they are helpful at times. Just try to make sure they aren't spending a lot of time in containers.
I've been container hopping my son for the last 9 months 😢 he only started rolling a month ago and I felt like something was wrong, he is wobbbily sitting up and often falls over and hasn't crawled
How do you prevent a flat head? Tips and advice is appreciated! New girl dad! I already noticed my bubba likes her head to the right hand side so I've started balancing.
My second son 3 month old loves floor play .. whenever I find him unsettling I put him on floor he plays and rolls from back to stomach .. now he is trying to roll from stomach to back but still couldn’t .,,
my 2-month-old baby boy sleeps a lot during the day and is only calm when sleeping in a carrier.. the upright position also helps with stomach problems. So I can't really do without using a carrier.
I am so confused when to introduce floor play. Our son was born 6 weeks premature and his official due date was late Feb. His pattern is still very much: change diaper, eat, hugs, sleep every 3 hours. When in between should I do floor play? He still seems to need a lot of sleep.
I didn’t buy any containers, that’s why my son hit all his milestones either early or in time. No screen, no containers. The only thing I am worried is that sometimes I get angry at him and I hope it won’t have negative effects
They can try your patience. You'll never regret taking a deep breath and finding a little more patience. But you likely will regret raising your voice etc. Hang in there!
@EmmaHubbard what would be your advice regarding containers/floor time for acid reflux babies? My LO is just 3 months (not adjusted, born at 37+2) and we can barely keep him horizontal for 15/20 minutes at a time without him getting very upset despite his medicine. I was told to just always wear him in a sling or elevate his head but am concerned this is affecting his development as he doesnt roll much or get nuch tumny time, especially as he feeds every 2 hrs still so almost always has 'just eaten'. Is there anyway you would suggest to aid the same development without triggering his reflux?
I wish I had known this before! My baby is almost 5 months old and she hated tummy time, couldn't roll over yet, too. I wonder if it's too late to introduce a lot of floor play now.
Mine is 10 months old, rolling from back to front and front to back and goes backwards but not crawling yet. Sitting nicely. I just realized I did the first mistake as well. So can this be the reason he is not crawling yet? Hope it’s not too late for his development. 🥺🥺🤦🏻♀️
My baby never like containers I’m glad I didn’t force him He’s almost 10 months stands from crawling without support and already trying to walk I also didn’t buy a walker,he’s learning how to walk himself They don’t need these things apparently I’m glad I didn’t listen to all those unsolicited advices as a new mom
what about newborns that sleep all the time? he always sleeps on his side at least but all i do is feed him and he sleeps. not a lot of time for floor time. i do let him sleep on my chest a lot so that’s tummy time
That is pretty normal for a newborn! I’ve had 2 babies (now going on 4 and the other 17 months) and newborns just eat and sleep. As your baby gets a little older his/her wake window will get longer and when baby wakes to feed he/she will stay up a little longer and then it just grows. I usually just held my newborns fed them and then held them. I would lay them in their crib for periods of time. As they wake and are awake longer that’s when I would do more tummy time and floor time!

When did you start tummy time? My son is 2.5 weeks old and the doctor said I we can start the tummy time once he is 4 weeks old.
By 2 months he rolled over,
Seat with assistance at 4, unassisted at 5
Crawled 5.5, stood up at 6, cruised at 7 and walked at 8.
My girl is 5 months too 😊
Sounds like you were hopeless. I wonder who parented you?
What are the things you did differently
Definitely. I had to start "laying" on my son at 8 months and having him struggle and push me off to build him up.
I 💯 agree with this. I preferred a playmat over a bouncer, and I believe thus truly made a difference for my daughter's muscle development.
💯
Me and my brothers jumping out the gym and all standing above 6 ft but we might’ve been anomalies cause the bouncer was our favorite past time (our Mom and Dad even came up with a song about jumping cause of it) seen so much film of it on VHS but I am going to be mindful of this advice with my newborn thank you
This is so informative,, my 4 month old son actually dislikes being in a swing or chair for too long which is great plus I love to see him wiggle around 😊
THANK YOU!
The disease that is sitting all day is even grasping small children!
This makes me feel better about holding my 2 month old like 90% of the time
Me too!!
Are they continually wriggling around when being held?
That's not good either because then that baby cries every time you put it down and doesn't learn to be alone and be content on its own .
People laughed at me because i was so adamant about lots of tummy time. Glad my mother Intuition was right
I walked at 4 months
My baby is already rolling over at 3 weeks lol
G5 vy@@trackstarlexi
We definitely don’t want to rush milestones in general, but I think the longer a baby crawls, the better that is for their development. I think that might be the point of her argument.
This is a great video. I don’t believe in giving kids electronics they become hypnotized and numb! I don’t like to see it either but to each his own 🤷🏽♀️
Not always a fact im autistic with adhd they are comunication devices for non verbal kids 😂
And we call it AAC comunication
As a new mom, I need all the advice I can get. I have no mom so it's really hard.
@@Celestichthysmargaritatus Thanks. I know it’s okay. Each baby develops at their own on pace.
Did you leave your baby on its back or stomach?
@@CamelJockey562 both but he did a lot of tummy time
Barefoot barefoot or are socks ok?
How can I read, sing, or have face to face interaction with my child while they’re in the floor…?
@@dandriabarnett7980You get down on the floor with them.
I was told the same thing
thats shocking the only reason i can think why he might suggest this is its a more up right possition and mucus or congestion will be less likely to clog airways. I would not follow that advice as i think concern of aphxyation is more likely (sorry for spelling).
This is temporary which is kind of irrelevant to the video the video is talking about overall/long term
This is super informative! Especially the sections on container hopping and positional plagiocephaly. I've shared your channel before with new parents because the information you share is really helpful, but I'd love to share it with my newsletter subscribers in the near future.🙂
Wow, as a Montessori infancy educator, I find this particular video of yours very educational!
Glad it was helpful!
I am blessed I have wonderful parents who take care of my child along with me....
I made a mistake of not picking up my son much as a baby he’s 3 now n healthy n very talkative
My mom will say change your babies posture every week to maintain the head shape. And she's very right. Love from Ghana 🇬🇭 ❤
My son (10 months) never liked containers. He strted walking at 10 months. Hes everywhere and anywhere. Its alot of work but my fiancé and i love it
with your advices my baby girl was normal walking at 8 mo, thank you! ❤
For the most part, I agree. But for disabled parents, a rocker might be the only way to rock the baby at all, if that is what comforts them, and a wrap or indoor stroller could be the only way to safely get baby from room to room.
We will need these with our baby, but she will still be getting plenty of floor, tummy, and proper play time ❤
Yes I did this with my last one and he was walking at 7 almost 8 months
Yes I did this with my third. She walked 8 months but sometimes I say 9 because no one believes me. 😅
@@briserenity 🤣 I always have to show them a dated video! My firstborn started swinging from things at 6 months, by 7 months she was walking holding on to things and by 9 months she was walking pretty balanced.
Mine was vacuuming at 10.5 months
My son had torticollis and required physical therapy. Would highly recommend being intentional about helping baby use the sides they don’t naturally lay on
I've seen the advice of placing toys, books or even yourself on the opposite side of their head tilt to encourage them to look in that direction. I thought it was super smart!
My son also had congenital torticollis. We had PT once a week for 2 years (his was an extreme case) he’s 3 now and hit every milestone on time!
My baby never used any of these. Decided to do her the natural way routine ❤
I didnt walk till i was almost 2 because my mother always had me in a high chair to keep me from moving around.
My daughter startrd walking alone without assistance after her first birthday. I made sure to always be actuvw with her. Taking her to the park everyday and staying active indoors with her ladder.
Mine was 13 months when they walked for the first time, delayed from a few things from covid lockdowns
I get really anxious when im out with my 6 weeks old in her car seat, I did wonder if there was something else! Thanks
8:12 What angle does the head need to be where there's a risk of positional asphyxiation? It would seem in the example in the video the baby would need to work against gravity to lift his head and get his chin against the chest.
Yes, you’re right but it’s very hard with a toddler who climbs on everything that she sees even me.
Very interesting. I would never even consider the hip development thing
Getting our first baby in 1 month. We already bought a lot of containers, good to know to avoud the container hopping.
I hope the time with your little one is everything you imagine! Sounds like you are prepared which is great!
Found your channel, I have a 2 month old. I've subscribed, continue giving us these useful tips!
Thanks for subbing!
Mine hated it! Yet he achieved his milestones on time. It depends on the baby i guess....
We're having the same issue with my baby. Just turned 6months and hates tummy time and doesn't roll over yet...
I pray and hope it becomes easy for you.
I am currently having these issues with my two year old daughter😢😢. I had it stopped completely as she’s displaying the symptoms of autism as a result of prolonged screen time. Never again!!!
Is it because you learned about screens the hard way? Sorry to hear that. I pray he is OK
I think screening just needs to be managed. 10 minutes a day or even every other day, shouldn't cause these issues.
Why is it autism, and not a reaction to the screen time? I'm very confused. Can he work with the right kind of maybe occupational therapist for help?
Hey did you do that from birth? is it safe to put them on the floor on a mat as soon as theyre born?
@30251 as long as you are doing tummy time multiple times a day their good to go, tummy time can be done on the floor or mat or even your chest but should never be left unattended due to the fact that they can't roll and could go straight face down and suffocate. Essentially don't put them in a fixed position container for extended amount of time, use them to get a chore done or use the restroom. Then for all other times ether be holding the baby or lay them on their backs so they can wiggle and move.
@@30251also tummy time ends when they start not being able to lift their heads, early on it ends in a few minutes as time goes by they go for about 15 minutes
Putting my baby on the floor for enough time is difficult because of reflux after feeding 😕
This happens to me and my baby too. I’ve taken mine to a baby chiropractor for some help 😊🩵
@@jamie-leetitus I've read multiple scientific papers that said baby chiropractors are a pseudoscience and at worst can do harm.
@@MaineCoonMama18yes exactly, there were loud cases in the US, just don’t do this as a precaution!
My baby of 7 months doesn't maintain eyes contact and hasn't sit on her own yet,i pray God help us

Would you please tell us why babies fall down their food?
Interesting ❤ I've learnt some mistakes I need to correct now.
Wow i have learnt a lot thanks so much.❤❤❤

I don't know how people put babies in so many containers,my baby complained as soon as he was put in anything. He was on the floor most of the day.
Another great video Emma. The container hoper definitely surprised me as you don’t realize how much you do it through the day!
My newborn hated all containers. Bouncer, stroller, cot, crib, carseat. If it's not i my arms she doesn't want it.
Love ur content, it really provides a ton of value for new parents, thank you!

How should a baby's legs be positioned while breastfeeding in your arms?
Just try to make sure they aren't spending a lot of time in containers.
this video was actually very useful! thank u soooo much
Ok but once baby can hold their head up well is the positional asphyxiation still a risk?
I've been container hopping my son for the last 9 months 😢 he only started rolling a month ago and I felt like something was wrong, he is wobbbily sitting up and often falls over and hasn't crawled
How is your son doing now? My 13 month has just mastered sitting, doesn't crawl or pull up on things yet
How do you prevent a flat head? Tips and advice is appreciated! New girl dad!
I already noticed my bubba likes her head to the right hand side so I've started balancing.
Do not leave baby in same position for hours everyday.
Changed her position (left to right or right to left) after every feed, diaper change etc. If she prefers one position talk to your Dr
My bassinet has a tilt setting it’s by delta children. Sometimes babies just cry for a few minutes before settling into a new position/place
I am so confused when to introduce floor play. Our son was born 6 weeks premature and his official due date was late Feb. His pattern is still very much: change diaper, eat, hugs, sleep every 3 hours. When in between should I do floor play? He still seems to need a lot of sleep.
Any time baby is awake can be used for floor play. Even if that's only for 5 or 10 minutes at a time when they're newborns, that's okay.
YOU MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY WITH THE NEXT CHILD. USING CONTAINERS IS FINE PROVIDED BABY ISNT LEFT IN THEM FOR HRS.

Welcome to the father hood and same here I’m a new born Dad and it’s amazing
Very informative 👍🏿
Glad you liked it
I get so stressed when I see people carrying their little ones in the carrier too low and/or with basically straight legs 😢
The normal day part missed the periods of wild crying every time you try to put them anywhere but on my chest
Not at all. It's never to late.
Mine is 10 months old, rolling from back to front and front to back and goes backwards but not crawling yet. Sitting nicely. I just realized I did the first mistake as well. So can this be the reason he is not crawling yet? Hope it’s not too late for his development. 🥺🥺🤦🏻♀️
When should I start letting him play on the floor?
My baby never like containers I’m glad I didn’t force him
He’s almost 10 months stands from crawling without support and already trying to walk
I also didn’t buy a walker,he’s learning how to walk himself
They don’t need these things apparently
I’m glad I didn’t listen to all those unsolicited advices as a new mom
THANK YOU!
No problem
My daughter rolled from tummy to back at 4 months . Is that normal?
This is very helpful
😂 I bought a baby swing and my baby girl doesn’t like it at all i put her and she starts to cry 😂 thanks for sharing that information 🙏🙏
Great channel Emma
Thank you so much!
I’m glad I came across this 😓 I feel bad my baby hasn’t been doing enough tummy time
Great info !!😌🙏🙏🙏😌🥰
Glad you think so!
what about newborns that sleep all the time? he always sleeps on his side at least but all i do is feed him and he sleeps. not a lot of time for floor time. i do let him sleep on my chest a lot so that’s tummy time
That is pretty normal for a newborn!
I’ve read to work up to 60-90minutes of tummy time by 3months old
Very insightful. Thank you
