Judgement was simply more arcadey balls-to-the-wall Gears 3 and there was nothing wrong with that. I really liked how the Declassified modifiers were the squad mentioning a setback they had to deal with during that moment, further adding emphasis to the fact that we are playing though memories of events that already happened and are being told to the jury.
"Encounters late in the game can get very chaotic". *Shows the rager onslaught* Yeah, that part is a little much. It's tough to fight of so many of them.
Honestly, to this very day I don't understand why Judgement got so much backlash. The story was told very well, the campaigns were great, dialog great, music great.... I didn't understand it. Only thing I really disliked was that People Can Fly changed the controls on us. Was jarring as I specifically remember the game asking "have you played gears before" to which I enthusiastically exclaimed "F yeah I play Gears! Screw this tutorial..LETS GOOOOOO!!". Only to find out... wait.... thats not the button for grenades! Wait.... I only get 2 guns? Huh.... WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY GEARS!!! But after getting use to those minor changes.. the game was great. Loved it and honestly I need to fire up my old Xbox One to play it again. Nice review of an underrated classic.
I actually liked the new controls. I very rarely used the pistol so only 2 weapons were not a big deal to me. And using only one button to change them made it fluent. Also that grenade had it's own button was good. It made using it much more quicker. Kilo Squad was great team!
@@JV-ll1cu Yeah I have to agree. That over time I got used to it and it seems easier to get grenades out. But man.... those first few hours I was blowing myself up left and right! LOL
@@JV-ll1cu Yeah, after I got used to it it was fine. But I remember those first few hours blowing myself up with grenades will forever be burned into my memory! LOL Great game though. Didn't care much for the multiplayer and maybe that's where all the hate originated. P v P and their version of Horde I just didn't care for. The core game... yes.... was good.
More Gears is never a bad thing! Really enjoy every entry in the series, including this one. Looking forward for your reviews of GEARS 4, 5 & TACTICS. Keep up the good work!
the campaign was great, especially with the declassified challenges. i just hated how you were limited to 2 weapons this time and multiplayer was cog vs cog
I agree.. the game is not bad at all but changing the control scheme was the worst thing ever.. if they only set an original control scheme in the game settings it would have probably kicked ass.. as a matter of fact.. I still believe if they set original controls and announce it.. it just might redeem it self..
Thanks for the very solid and clear review. I'll pick it up it seems like; - gow 1: campaign - gow 2: horde mode - gow 3: competitive multiplayer - this: arcade fun I can do with another gow in my collection seems like a fyb time, especially with a bud
It was telling for the series that the first game they made after 3 was “crap go back” and it wasn’t meant well. Then in going forward it lost what made the series so good imo.
I personally liked Judgement, as it brought back the Locust (I hated the Lambent enemies) and I got to play as other COG characters. I didn't like some of the changes, such as limiting number of weapons you can carry and other things, but I still liked it more than Gears 3. Don't get me wrong, Gears 3 is objectively the better game...I just hate fighting the lambent enemies in Gears 3. I prefer the locust enemies.
For the first time in several years I recently replayed ALL of the Gears campaigns, And Judgment aged really well, and was much better than I remembered, I like the quick grenade throws, And I like Judgment better than Gears 4&5, with 5 being the weakest in the series. IMO
This was a really fun game. I loved how the optional objectives changed things up so much. Each level felt different. Can't wait to get a series x and finally play gears 4 and 5.
played this at launch and every week they kept changing the weapon damage values (multiplayer) and if you didn't keep up with the patch notes you wouldn't know why you weren't getting kills like normal. from what I remember it was fine, just not as good as gears 3.
It's a good game, I enjoyed it. Even if it's not enhanced for the One X, it's still a gorgeous game and looks better than the previous three installments on the 360. HOWEVER the gameplay is not refined at all, not in the level of the main games.
The game is fine but it's one of those 'did it need to exist?' scenarios. Being the 4th game of a franchise released in the same console generation is a bit much.
Nossa, pra caralho.
I didn't like Judgement. Dumb fun, sure but the lore, retcons, and character development was absolutely abysmal. Hated that I couldn't play as a locust in multi-player and the hoard mode was a massive downgrade. I understand that you can play as a locust in the competitive hoard mode but uhhhh...I would rather play Beast in Gears 3. The game HEAVILY encourages co-op but every Gears fan I knew at the time didn't want anything to do with this game so it ended up just falling flat. That's just me though
Meh, I think this kind of thing is partly why video game development is so fucked nowadays. I personally don't and never have minded more of the same. I mean, if it's a series I like already, that's really all I want usually. More of the same. I despise when series try to reinvent themselves. Just do something new, an entire new series/game at that point. Why change what already worked instead of doing something totally new?
One of the best looking games for 360. Also, it was good in general. Not as good as 1-3 but still good. I enjoyed it a lot
Hilariously Judgement runs WAY better on Xenia than Gears 2 or 3 while being the best looking Unreal 3 game on 7th gen consoles IMO.
@@raresmacovei8382 really? What else you tried? And whats da specs
in terms of graphics - still better than 70 percent of ps4/xbox one games
@@raresmacovei8382 Not in my experience, judgement runs the worst for me.

True. Enemies coming left and right and you definitely don't have situation under control

This is actually my favorite Gears campaign, the Insane/declassified run was so much fun.
And Kilo Squad was great
the campaign was great, especially with the declassified challenges. i just hated how you were limited to 2 weapons this time and multiplayer was cog vs cog
For some sense of nostalgia just finished this excellent game again👌
I think this game looks actually rather beautiful still. The lightning and shadows still hold up
I liked the story but I hated all the changes they made the controls were perfect they didn't need to mess with thim.

I liked the campaign gameplay but the change from the gears formula impacted the PvP poorly
Thanks for the very solid and clear review. I'll pick it up
it seems like;

I'd legit forgotten how much I love Gears till I got my Series X. I've racked up 26 MVPs in Gears 5 abd am looking to do 1-5 in co-op! Interested?
I like Judgment, all around a fun game with a great multiplayer mode; it just wasn’t what the series needed and it feels out of place as a result.
This game was great, the campaign and overrun were dope, the mp kinda sucked bc of the weapon changes
Thanks a lot for this guys. I appreciate the Gears love. Keep 'em coming.

This game had next generation graphics on a 360

thank you for the info, king
Love the multi player, but after a year it was dead 😥. Great game
Kilo Squad was great
Insane difficulty + all Declassified challenges in Judgement is purely masochism
And I loved it
Set the original control scheme back.. and it might redeem it self.... the controls fucked it up..
Well I think it's the best in the series.
I heard this game was considered the worst among Gears fans, do you agree with that?
Gears pop is by far the worst gears game 😂
Not at all
Lazily put together game. Horde mode section after horde mode section. Clear cash grab at the end of the console cycle.
Esse jogo é subestimado

Salute to ya big dude
Os servidores online ainda são cheios?
The campaign was good, I liked it but the MP 😬 I’m glad you are reviewing classic games in “2022”

It only gets worse
My least favorite game in the series.
It now has the FPS boost.
