Thanks for the review Jon. We’re disappointed to have come last of course. It would have been good to see a pour test also, pour out into small caps then allow to dry and I think you’ll see why CQuartz lite is more durable(and hence more expensive per ml) Maybe something for future tests 👍🏻 Hope you’re doing well in the lockdown.
I think more so than most video or tests Ive done the points really dont mean that much. the lite product is slightley the odd one out here, maybe just the price point is what cost it because it has a little bit more performance than the other ones. theres nothing in it. I would happily use all 4 of these product and you could maintain them well with elixir. stay safe mate.
It may have come last but you can take what you want from the points as I still went with this and applied it on Friday. Things like cost per ml doesn’t matter if you’ll never finish the bottle. It’s more about what you want from a product, Looking forward to see how this performs also picked up Elixir.
Being honest I am looking at a lite ceramic coating and have been looking at yours, this test only served to prove that yours is a good product even though it came last. Where it won for me was durability and ease of application, the price point was not an issue because all the other factors were so much more positive so it would be worth the extra.
In this video, he did mention that the CarPro cquartz lite is the most durable one, which he even demonstrated. It's a pretty good video in which the consumer can decide what they want. I will definitely go for the CarPro for its durability. The shine and slickness I can add with a quick detailer that I can apply after every wash.
Tac Moonlight is by far the best VFM it can be layered and applied over a primer polish and this does aid durability. It is an easy introduction to ceramics.
Very nice comparison video Jon. ;) I'm using a CarPro Lite and I absolutly love him. 2 months on my car without topping and beading is still crazy. Moonligth is fine too, but CarPro is my number 1 from light ceramic coatings. :)
Loved the video. This is one of the most important videos every detailer should be uploading. Comparing ceramic coatings that a common man can apply at home, is a video I'm trying to see from every detailer. Great work. Thanks so much.
John, your methodical well thought out analysis on products and methods is nothing short of great, and so appreciated. This video reminded of when I was a teenager playing old school Dungeons and Dragons, you know with all the funky multi sided dice, where you generated your characteristics, and how strong each would be, hence detetming what your character was going to be . Each one of the products excelled in one area or so. Making them all great, and a difficult choice if you had interest in applying one. What is most important in your world? Durability? Gloss? Self Cleaning? Etc.? What strengths do you desire on your "character" given there isn't the holy grail? ....yet.
Great video Jon. I went with CP Lite because I was worried about mis application and I honestly couldn’t buy a product that wasn’t that durabil because of the amount of preparation required before using one of these is so time consuming. I don’t like those atomizers for these kinda of products at all really dangerous.
How long did it last? Scott HD is doing a long term test for ceramics and CP lite is still holding on after 9 months. That’s impressive for the price (CP Lite Kit 45€). But I’m curious how long it lasts in real traffic. I’m always parking outside, 20-25 000 km per year and doing maintenance wash 1-2x per month. So I’m curious how long would it last 🤔
I put cquartz lite on a bunch of cars right when it came out the same week so I’m starting to see these cars back and it held up well carpro 6-9 months is conservative I bet it will go longer it is like a straight up coating just easier to apply. Cancoat started this market cqlite has nailed it. Moonlight is not in same league and could really benefit from a reformulation, save moonlight for trim and tires. Adam spray coating is better than moonlight but out done by cancoat and cqlite
You already knew that very strong chemicals can soften, liquify and remove those products under test. When your brush agitated those chemicals on ONE panel, you slid the brush straight to the next panel and then the next. By doing so, you have cross-contaminated all your different test panels. This is a classic silly mistake made by many detailing channels, resulting in wildly varying inconsistent findings. Logically, any chemicals and suds on each panel should never touch the next panel, in order to prevent cross-contamination. Lovely video btw, and thank you so much for the crazy amount of time and effort spent to produce such videos! SUBSCRIBED! Thanks😇👍
These chemicals cannot liquify or remove these products that way. Solvents work that way. Surfactants work through emusifying. There is no cross contamination in this test.
You get several trigger heads in the package of Gyeon Can Coat. Also, it is recommended to not leave the trigger head on the bottle, but remove and wash it out with warm water after usage.
yes I think 2 triggers.. but its not water based material.. attempt to wash out the triggers isnt a good idea.. I would suggest just remove the trigger and empty it or product with some pumps.. like someone else said. keep normal lid and use a pipet I think. its way way way too messy taking the triggers out with all the dripping ceramic material going everywhere.
I wouldn’t buy Moonlight again. The protection does last a while, but I was disappointed with the longevity of the water repellency. The high traffic film areas of the car lost it very quickly and I couldn’t unlock it with cleaning either. If I don’t go full ceramic next, I think I’ll try the Car Pro offering lite offering.
With heavy road film, you will have lost hydrophobic. Clean with ultra foam or iron zero foam and top with quartz max. Longevity completely depends on maintenance
If you want ridiculous water repellency try Fusso coat by soft 99 nipponshine uk. It’s a wax but is class leading in water repelancy and durability lasts 9-12 months easy. It’s a good one if you want to try it out.
Jon Did you conduct the slickness test after you allowed the product to cure for a day? I applied CP Light to my car and was not that happy with the slickness. HOWEVER, after 1 contact wash the slickness went up substantially( probably washed away the carrier or something) and I’m now very happy with the slickness. Just wanted to point that out.
Carpro lite seems like a great bang for the buck at least here in the states, plus according to your tests it lasted the longest on the panel. Therefore, you wouldn't apply it as often as the other products.
yes possibly. taking the points thing aside and this one was close points wise. The Carpro lite has a lot going for it performance wise.. I really was impressed with it. Literally the only negative is the other products are not a million miles behind it in durability but are considerably cheaper.. depends what your looking for really. Id be tempted to go carpro though.
Good review of these products. I do enjoy both CanCoat and Cquartz Lite. I just picked up the new version of Adams spray coating with the UV glow technology. One tip with CanCoat and that is to flush the sprayer with hot water after each use. I did that and my original sprayer lasted a really long time. I also put the original lid back on the product.
Great video and info, as usual :) Right now I'm using Carpro ech2o 10:1 as a QD/drying aid/topper. I can get a month out of it on top of Halfords wash and wax, and it does have some self cleaning. Planning to use Can Coat on the car at the spring clean on the test car (aka the mrs motor), topped with wet coat at 4/6 week intervals with ech2o as a drying aid. Maybe use Geyon cure at 8/12 weeks. going to wash with Bathe ;) I believe Can Coat includes 3 sprayers and tells you to keep the bottle top, so basically fixed. Hopefully I can get a years worth from 2 applications/2 coats of can coat 6 months apart.
Hello Jon from the Aussie guy ;) I know this is a older video but I did get some BH Auto Foam and mixed 200ml in a 5lt pump sprayer and let sit for 2-mins and Gyeon Can Coat did NOT like that at all as the vertical section of the boot lid and lower sections of the car are now cloudy and even making the black colour a tad lighter looking.
rinse off with pressure dont allow to dry. dont run 4% unless you have a thick winter road film. run 1-2% after rinse. do your contact wash with an automotive shampoo. dry down car with towel. you wont have any problems buddy or at least I have not and Ive used autofoam thousands of times. Im wondering if the highly concentrated film was just allowed to dry so you have some sort of milky layer of detergent.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for the reply Jon ;) I did rinse with the electric PW and washed n blown dry but only light road film was on the car also winter here atm, it should not of dried under a carport with cold panels but yes a milky layer that won't come off even with a rewash later with just car shampoo..I did the whole car - everything at the 4% on a dry car though..
Great video Jon 👍........ one thing that is bugging me with the majority of durability tests on you tube, why not hit them first with screen wash?? It’s probably the first chemical to hit the car and that hit it regularly, some of them smell pretty chemically funky too!! I think some of them may give some coatings and waxes a run for there money and this definitely would make me think twice about buying them if they don’t withstand it...... I don’t often drive through a spray of iron fallout remover, isopropyl alcohol and apc and at the times I do 99.99% of the time I’m in control of what chemical I’m using on or near the bodywork where I’m putting it and what I’m trying to achieve as it would be me using it, I have little or no control what the garage put in my washer bottle When I need to use it and also regularly get a good coating of it from the car in front of which I have absolutely no control of the chemicals and contents of and can find no meaningful information as to the effects of this on any selected coating (gyeon can coat at present) which I’ve been really impressed with but am sure the front of the roof above the windscreen has been affected by such chemicals!!!
screenwash can be used for sure. but it is typically some detergent and IPA rich. And its knocked right down so it might literally be 1% IPA active content or less. So hitting it with my homepanel panel wipe.. is like hitting it with neat screen wash..
Forensic Detailing Channel it’s surprising as it is always that that does the most damage to any coatings ....... perhaps there is my neesh in the market ..... non ipa screenwash !!!
@@davidnnnnnnnable beading was good for me, and I found it really glossy too, and so easy to use. Durability, wasnt as stated but didn't bother me as I like to try other products, but disappointing nonetheless.
As always an excellent & objective review Jon. Appreciate your time & effort. I'm a bit of a dinosaur & enjoy my waxes but maybe I need to give on of these a go
I'm a Cancoat user Jon. If you spray any product in the atomizer back into the bottle then run some water through it, stops it setting and ruining the trigger 👍 Cracking comparison video Jon! Keen to try more of these type of products for me, cure time is important. Out of these which is the quickest to become fully weatherproof? See some can be fully cured in as little as 4 hrs.
cheers B. I gotta be honest. I dont even like taking the sprayer out the bottle the material drip everywhere. plus Im really worried about this material being airbourne and going into my lungs if I spray it.
@@ForensicDetailing never found it an issue personally Jon. I spray it onto an applicator, hold the sprayer close enough and none of it gets airborne. I don't tend to have my mouth anywhere near the atomizing head or applicator while applying to the MF pad, further reducing the risk 😋😂
Another great test comparison but when Turtle Wax Hybrid Sealant Hydrophobic Spray Wax is £7 and seems to do exactly the same job with similar results they all fail the vfm test in my garage. Keep up the good work.
it was 3.50 last week. :) we are spoilt for choice.. but these products are completly different.. you logic is sound though I think the majority of people feel the same way.
Hate to chime in on the durability test again, I got a full year out of Gyeon Can Coat on a clients car, only ever been safe washed by myself, not really topped up either but since the weather's turned and the road salts out the beading isn't as strong anymore. Very impressed with the durability as well. The detergent test is strange, why not a pH neutral shampoo? Decon shampoo, ipa probably aren't going to be used every wash, or shouldn't be anyway. 🤷🏻♂️
yes your not chiming, this is awesome feedback. I believe I have over a year out of moonlight as well. others have said to me of moonlight and cancoat its lasted weeks and been dead. I get this variance in performance with literally every product I talk about though. lots of factors come into play.. usually prep and masking
Great video as always, with interesting results. Would love to know what wax you would recommended for a show car, don't care about durability or how hydrophobic it is, just wonder which wax you think looks the best?
Awesome videos man. You put consistently good content and the majority of what I’ve purchased for this hobby has come from your recommendations. I keep looking for a comparison video using the Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light & Exo V4 combo though. Any way you can include their products in one of your SI02 shootouts? I hear great things but there’s not many quality reviews out there for them...
Excellent video! Definitely the most scientific and methodical comparison of products I've seen on TH-cam. You mentioned that you wouldn't use these on glass; can you elaborate? What products do you suggest? Thanks mate!
I applied Infinity Wax Synergy Lite 7 months ago. I've never topped it despite buying Synergy QD to do that with and it's still beading brilliantly. Well priced as well at about £19. Maybe time for an updated test with any other new products?
Jon just a general question about the testing procedure. After the products cured, did you do a light contact wash? I’m curious if the products improve in performance after 1 contact wash. I’m curious if there are carrier oils or other leftover substances that could negatively affect how a product performed, but would wash away after 1 normal wash. Thanks great video.
after products are cured. I give one light final wipe in case any dust from overnight falls on in garage.. then slick test. then gloss and haze. Then bead test with water.. then detergent chem test.. there are no oils as such that need degreasing after the cure. the components they put in there (they say oil) but its not oil as we know it.. they are compatible resins or oils with the materials.. so there is a solvent "fuse" still.. when the fuse vapes. it exposes the materials to moisture and typically the hydrogen and oxygen in it cause a state change or a chemical reaction to the material.. AKA RTV cure.. This is my guess though.. everything I know is from reading myself and researching (or most of it) I have no chem company feeding me information like lots of the brands.. the downside is half the stuff I say might be wrong :) but fuck it sounds good :)
Super useful review John, hope to get more like this. Have been wondering for a while if slickness is just a tactile thing, or it actually helps preventing dust and road grime from attaching to the paint, which to me would be more desirable. Can someone weigh in on this?
some chemicals you can add to liquid based products specifically for anti static properties to help repel dust. Im not sure if these will have any of that specifically. the actually ingredients of these products is hard to know. Still not really confirmed if they are based on liquid inorganic silane.
What do you think real world duration of moonlight is? Have it on both out cars and I'm not really sure. Top up with gyeon wet coat partly based on your previous video. Moonlight is so easy on and off though the carpro lite is intriguing.
I really liked the test you did on Gyeon Wet Coat about the repelling of dirt. Would you do a similar "battle" among other product to see which are good at it? After years of detailling, i realized that i really care about that characteristic, more than beading truely. Gloss and self cleaning are really important for a protection product. UV protection and protection against strong contamination (like bird poop or brake dust) are also characteristics that are never talked about, i guess because they are more difficult to test.
Ive not really seen other products do it. In fact the only product was gyeon syncro with the skin top coat. can coat has 4 star rating in self cleaning i think.. wet coat has 5. even synco only has 4 and a half stars for self cleaning.. theres definetly something cool about wet coat... Im just trauling over the gyeon website seeing if any thing else has 5 stars self cleaning
Fair play I love these comparison videos... but how come you don’t use any shiny garage products Jon ? Cause their fallout, wheel cleaner and a lot more are absolutely brilliant thanks Danny
Awesome video and review and comparison Jon! These coating lite range of products is something that I like and has a thought on getting one of them when spring comes. But man is it hard to decide which to get LOL. This test sort them out a little for me. Leaning on Carpro lite or Tac System Moonlight on which to get. Another benefit that many says is incredible is that Moonlight works awesome on plastic trim and rubber seals too. While as you mentioned Carpro lite is very much close to a ceramic coating. Did you have the panel outside for some time and was it any of them that stod out in the self cleaning ability from them? Thanks for shareing your experience with these products Jon!
Hey there John! Great video sir. I've loved the gyeon ceramic kit. Applied several time to family and friends. I'm just curious if you had a preference of using angel wax enigma or a product like the Adam's spray coating. Or what you think would have more gloss? For my father's red mustang. Thanks in advance sir!
Great video. Are these light ceramics easier to remove that full blown coatings, also ceramic infused products (like the new Turtle Wax stuff and Meguiars HCW etc). Do they interfere with future cutting/polishing and different waxes/sealants? You mentioned they're a good base coat, what would be a good "top" coat? Are they compatible with more traditional waxes/sealants or do they mask/suppress its effect? Are they a base for a more permanent ceramic coating? I'm sorry I don't know much about ceramics.
much easier in my opinion yes.. but the "challenge" is its hard to know if you have them all off. good top coat for these is reload, cure, quartz max, adams ceramic boost (all water based ones)... or things like elixir or done and dust SI.
Jon, thanks a lot for all the excellent vids. Really genius 🎉 though this video is 3 years old, please let me ask you about the Adam’s graphene spray advanced. Is it classified with these products in here? It would be great if you test the new advanced formula as well. Thanks again
I have always used wax/sealants as I don't have a indoor space to let the car dry for the time the ceramics need before getting wet. How long do these products need to dry?
Do you think Cancoat can be used in interior? ( as a Cockpit, vinyl, plastic protectant etc) , I really dont want to buy many products, maybe this one can fill thay gap? Thanks
Jon is it about that time of year for a wheels off decon wash? 😂😂😂😂🥳🥳Maybe Reginald needs to watch your videos more get himself some BH High activity autofoam for Christmas.
Going up a level Jon (I think! ), have you got any vids on Gyeon One? I've looked but not found it yet if you have. Apparently it's a ceramic aimed at people like me who have never applied one before and are a bit intimidated by a full blown ceramic, ie it's easy to apply and supposedly idiot proof 😁 I'd love to know what you think of it mate?
i dont mate. Ive looked at cancoat and pure and syncro and rim.. not one though. avoid pure if you want easy to install. and dont forget moonlight and carpro lite as well.
@@ForensicDetailing thank you Jon. I do so little mileage in my XK (150 to 200 a month) and it stays pretty clean so something like Moonlight is starting to appeal more now, plus if I fancy a change 6 months down the line it sounds like it would be a bit easier than some of the more serious ceramics. Hmm, food for thought. Thanks for all the great info you keep bringing us mate, tbh I don't know how you find the time!
I just put it on and I wont wash for a week. I will keep in garage. otherwise I will wait like a day and top with reload if I need to use it and I know its going to get wet.
It's good that you tested them but you're right, using old products and cq lite has higher concentration. So it's essentially just a test, not really a comparison of apples to apples.
However, Moonlight is pitched as an Lite Coating the same as CarPro Lite so I believe it is a fair comparison. The higher levels of SiO2 in CarPro Lite showed with the durability, hence probably why it costs more. I'd personally rather pay more for durability than have to reapply or top it with something else. Ifvyou have to do that then what's the point of applying it then?
its a problem for a me. I could have blagged some more cancoat and moonlight I know you guys support this stuff. but I try to buy most things now where I can its just quick I have so many videos on the go. but yer my moonlight is seriously old and the cancoat is very old. But for me its also a massive plus how well this product looks and performs after all this time. baking hot summers and freezing winters in the garage and looks perfect. CQ has higher concentration of solids yes but only way to see it in action is tests like this. the CQ lite is a monster in terms of durability compared to the others (from the chem testing) but almost double the cost per application... this also is one of the closest tests ive done. I honestly would use any of these 4 products.
@@christopherweir9419 We have Top Coat 1.0, been out for a few years that is a comparable product to what cquartz made way after us. Then we introduced Top Coat 2.0 that is the topper for our exclusive climax. So you know it's good when it is released on its own from the 100% si02 combination. Moonlight is great but it is a maintenance product that everyone has used and a standalone product.
they give you a few triggers and they do tell you to remove the sprays and clean them after use.. problem is you end up dripping the material everywhere when you pull the sprayers out.. you ruin a microfiber towel just to wipe down the sprayer. The TAC moonlight lid is the best way to do it. I dont like atomising ceramic material as well I think thats a health and safety issue personally.
no mate.. this material does not mix with water its not water based. so filling up the sprayer with water means some water will find its way into the product, you are better off removing the trigger spray from the bottle and just empting whats in the stem and barrel, but even that is messy and this product will go everywhere. you are just better with the little cap on moonlight, theres no messing around.. but also like I said the reason to not spray this stuff around is overspray falling on panels and risk to health.. please do not go around quoting me on this reply. this is just my opinion.
If my cars been done from new a year ago with Gtechniq ceramic coating, what would I use after washing? This type of product? I dont think im supposed to polish it but feel that something needs putting on. Thank you.
C2V3 generally.. which is like a water based SI02 spray.. You could use a lightweight ceramic like moonlight to top it up.. but well its a bit of a can of worms subject.. Gtech would prolly advice you dont etc and stick with their maintainance products.
Squats200 you can either use Gyechniq’s dedicated maintenance product for that particular coating or you can use one of these toppers to freshen up the coating but before you do that, if you haven’t decontaminated the vehicle at least chemically then I would go ahead and do that to ensure proper bondage of the topper. I hope that helps
Oh I see. Thank you for your advice guys. Great channel btw 👍🏼 P. S. due to your channel, washing my car now takes 4 hours when it used to take 10 minutes! The mrs loves it that I take that long, not 😂
@@Squats200 just think of all the stuff we used to do in that time, the things we would rather do... no i can't either hahaha Our cars will thank us for it and the satisfaction makes it well worth the time and money. FDC - keeping folk off the streets since 2015 :)
Jon if car pro is the most durability by far isn’t it the best value for money 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂ive really gotta boost this product cause I put it on my car 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome test as always! its more frustrating that the most durable product came last in points as one of the strongest points on ceramic coatings is durability. When you take into consideration almost everyone is topping their ceramic coatings with something now days , that alone over rides the others tests as you can obtain the gloss, slickness , etc with a topper. Some people are even using beadmaker on top of the topper which makes it a bit pointless to compare the slickness or gloss of the coating anymore, since beadmaker blows all of the out of the park in this department . If we were to judge on that alone, cquartz lite would come on top , as you would want your base coat to be the most durable and your toppers to be less durable ( and the ones bringing the glossiness and slickness out of the paint). For someone doing a light polish once a year, to me cquartz lite would make more sense , while the other products would be questionable on the 1 year durability . I ll be curious to see a continuation of this tests applying their applicable topper , not so much on durability but on glossiness and slickness , to me toppers are where you find these 2 categories to shine. We all know coatings are bad for water spots and they all need toppers .
hey nigel, funny enough every time Ive done a gloss test I discuss what RSPEC is.. but ive done it so many times I actually edited it out of this video. have a read here if you are interested. www.rhopointinstruments.com/faqs/what-is-rspec/
HYDRO2 i think is also a semicoating, like those . at least it feels so. therefore i wonder hydro2 vs cq lite,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hmmmmmm i coat my car with essence, seems fine. it even outlives the fusso....
ok a few things a) Its stated this product is to not be used with car windscreens. So side and rear glass only. b) I would just machine it off. I dont recomend glass protection products to anyone they are a pain in the ass and they typically all cause a variety of issues. Ask yourself if you cant use it on the windscreen, whats the actual point? glass does not need protecting, so your just putting something there which is a pain in the ass to apply to make the water run off it it. pointless.
Forensic Detailing Channel thanks I messed up big time, I tried some invisible glass cleaner and was able to buff it as much as I could, I don’t have any machine so I was just working on a small area at a time

Gregory - I waited about 3 weeks to get Moonlight and Shinee wax from TAC. Used them on 2 white vehicles, a 4 Runner and an Acura TSX, both with about 100,000 miles on them. Simply put, they are amazing products. Easy to use and cars look beautiful. I did also a one step correction with 3D One before applying...
TAC - When I ordered the products I knew they were on back order and there would be a waiting period. Only regret is that I didn’t order some other products when I did...!!! Btw, I have a silver BMW 428 also, that I used the car pro lite on this summer, and it will also be changed to TAC as soon as possible. Can’t wait to see the result. 428 is my wife’s car and she’s jealous of my daughters TSX and my 4 Runner now...!!!
i really dont know. but my gut instinct would say moonlight.. It turns to like a rock solid crystal. to problem is the only way we can really measure it is through hydrophobicity and this creates another problem.
Chemical resistance is an important feature when measuring the durability of a product, but it is only half the picture. What chemical resistance tests don't take into account is the effect of time and weathering on the products. I call this mechanical durability. In the real world, you might wash the car once a week, with chemicals not as harsh as these tests, but in the meantime, particularly in winter, the weather and road spray (which in itself has a potent cocktail of chemicals in it) will work on the products. From what I've seen 9 months is typical from Moonlight. As Jon suggests, the SiO2 products with decent levels of solids will likely have better mechanical durability as it is just a tougher layer. The water based Turtlewax product is excellent but whilst it's film is chemically resistant, I think it will break down quicker due to the weathering, which will also adversely affect the chemical resistance as this layer degrades. Even so, on a well prepared panel, up to 6 months is likely which is excellent for such a product. This is just my view of course.
Im pretty sure the car pro lite is an actual coating and the other 3 are SiO2 infused sealants.. no expert but im pretty sure this is not a good comparison. Explaining the durability of carpro lite
I believe the 3 you talk about do indeed contain some inorganic liquid silozane (sp?) the same material. but I really dont know. I did ask tac and got some wierd answer I didnt understand but I dont think they wanted to discuss certain things which is totally understandable. The way they harden as well suggests to me a similiarity with real coatings but just with a lot more carrier so a lot lower solid levels. honestly though who knows. maybe the 3 use different formats of SI02... but whatever it is theres a real similiarity to proper ceramic coatings for me.
We use to have 3 catagories for protection. Wax, paint sealants and coatings. but these days i dont know anymore. there are like 15 catagories. for example: carnauba paste waxes, liquid waxes, hybrid waxes, SiO2 infused paint sealants, polymer paint sealants, titanium infused paint sealants, all kinds of detailing sprays, various coatings, i mean ahhh i lost track
9:10 always worth a try contacting dealers reps for samples! it's in their interest to get most fair representation of their products so shouldn't be a problem @ 80k subs...
Its not that I cant get the products free Ora the brands are all wicked like this, after about 5-10k subs it became too hard to keep up with the requests for reviews, there are so few guys doing in the UK generally.. Its just easier as a reviewer to buy it and its better i think although my wallet doesnt agree. If I buy one product and someone else sends me another etc.. people say to me its not fair.. And I understand what they mean its just very hard to buy everything.. also if someone sends me something then theres an expectation (rightly) that it goes on the channel and I dont want that pressure looming over me, I cant always reliable shoot these videos as well. I still have products on the channel guys have sent in but about 6 months ago I started implementing a buy policy. the TW stuff was sent to me for free but I said I would buy it when their store goes live in the UK, but dont know if I will or not because I am literally f'ing broke at the moment.

We’re disappointed to have come last of course.
It would have been good to see a pour test also, pour out into small caps then allow to dry and I think you’ll see why CQuartz lite is more durable(and hence more expensive per ml)
Maybe something for future tests 👍🏻
Hope you’re doing well in the lockdown.
@@doctor13702 - Same here. Thanks to Jon's presentation, CarPro Lite became my choice. So, fret not, fine folks at CarPro!
carpro looks very strong i must say. defo the most durable. I almost gave up trying to kill it.
Loved the video. This is one of the most important videos every detailer should be uploading. Comparing ceramic coatings that a common man can apply at home, is a video I'm trying to see from every detailer.
Great work. Thanks so much.
Thx m8
John, your methodical well thought out analysis on products and methods is nothing short of great, and so appreciated. This video reminded of when I was a teenager playing old school Dungeons and Dragons, you know with all the funky multi sided dice, where you generated your characteristics, and how strong each would be, hence detetming what your character was going to be . Each one of the products excelled in one area or so. Making them all great, and a difficult choice if you had interest in applying one. What is most important in your world? Durability? Gloss? Self Cleaning? Etc.? What strengths do you desire on your "character" given there isn't the holy grail? ....yet.
Fantastic video & comparison as always, Jon! Brilliant work!👏🏻
Great video Jon.
So I’m curious how long would it last 🤔
@@HydraDnB 2 years before i topped it off with another coating but it would have lasted 3 years
@@HydraDnB also my car is parked outside and lots of highway driving loads of road film.
I believe Adam's spray coating was given even more durability with the UV version as it's now listed as minimum 10-12 months of protection.
TacSystem moonlight, best bang for buck, easy to apply, enough sio2 to last 9+months. Great gloss n slickness. Layer if u want more durability.
Watched Jimbo Detailing and was shocked at how he applied Can Coat! Always stick with FDC, Jon is the best!
@@tacsystemusa1702 Yeh that's fair enough
Go with CP LITE it was super easy to put on, no streaking, and you can apply it to like 10 cars with the amount they give you.
You can put cp lite on all surfaces too.
If you want ridiculous water repellency try Fusso coat by soft 99 nipponshine uk. It’s a wax but is class leading in water repelancy and durability lasts 9-12 months easy. It’s a good one if you want to try it out.
Was waiting for this one....well done. I’m a user of lite and absolutely love it.
Fantastic comparison video bro👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.
They all did well. Looks like you can't go wrong with any of them.
For CanCoat I don't use the sprayer. I keep it with the original lid and use a long pipette to get the product out of it. Thanks for the vid!
thats the way to do it yes
To me I would first be concerned with durability, ease of use, then price. I think CarPro wins for me based on its durability alone vs the remainder.
Good video sir... Durability is the win for me.
I'm rocking cancoat and wet coat and I dont know why you would bother paying a detailer for anything
Some people dont have time or the desire to do it themselves
@@richardadams6869 krystal kleen detail make a screen wash like that already im sure
Love moonlight myself. But also found it to not be massively durable. That carpro one looks good to me!
Detailing and the Beast - DaveCHCI moonlight was extremely disappointing to me for water beading and durability
I'm a bit of a dinosaur & enjoy my waxes but maybe I need to give on of these a go
I understand your preference for waxes :)
I'm a Cancoat user Jon. If you spray any product in the atomizer back into the bottle then run some water through it, stops it setting and ruining the trigger 👍
Cracking comparison video Jon!
Love that stuff!!!
it was 3.50 last week.
Great dissection, Jon!!
Been waiting for this comparison
Love the channel. Have you ever tested graphene? Also I would like your review on Maguire's hybrid ceramic liquid. Thanks again
graphene is coming soon to the channel nicholas thx m8
Cheers jon great video as always, might have to purchase some Tac systems when the weather gets better
Great content.. thankyou for your information you provide... all look good..i might go carpro... love the products from them ive tried so far
I think Tac are reformulating Moonlight, was mentioned on Apex detailing. Can't find it in stock anywhere.
Formula is remaining the same. Can preorder on our site. Will be available after Christmas.
How many coats did you apply before leaving it to set for 24hrs?
Forensic Detailing Channel thanks professor forensic😂😂
Super useful review John, hope to get more like this. Have been wondering for a while if slickness is just a tactile thing, or it actually helps preventing dust and road grime from attaching to the paint, which to me would be more desirable. Can someone weigh in on this?
some chemicals you can add to liquid based products specifically for anti static properties to help repel dust. Im not sure if these will have any of that specifically. the actually ingredients of these products is hard to know. Still not really confirmed if they are based on liquid inorganic silane.
Great video Jon, informative as always 👍
@@forensicunplugged4295 Wet coat seems amazing on repelling dirt, close to what ceramic coating are supposed to be capable of.
Fair play I love these comparison videos... but how come you don’t use any shiny garage products Jon ? Cause their fallout, wheel cleaner and a lot more are absolutely brilliant thanks Danny
I found Can Coat to have the best self cleaning of any product I’ve used.
Chris_Leslie225 wish he would of done a self cleaning properties test but I think it’s too cold 🥶
Moonlight is a coating. It just has less of the concentration.
The CarPro Lite seemed to actually get better after the decon wash 😂
Hey there John! Great video sir.
I've loved the gyeon ceramic kit. Applied several time to family and friends. I'm just curious if you had a preference of using angel wax enigma or a product like the Adam's spray coating. Or what you think would have more gloss? For my father's red mustang.
Thanks in advance sir!
Nolan Bullock, you really need to try Wowo's Show Stopper it's literally gloss in a bottle
CarPro light gets my bet for first
Duck well done
It is the best.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks, When I get a car with good paint or mine re-sprayed I would explore these. Would be wasted on my fiesta :D (at the mo)

@@ForensicDetailing thanks mate. Cheers
I have always used wax/sealants as I don't have a indoor space to let the car dry for the time the ceramics need before getting wet. How long do these products need to dry?

How long did you let CQuartz Lite cure? I heard it needs 72 hours before providing best hydrophobicity

its still the best among its class
Nice intreasring informative video John
How much curing time did you gave each one? Can coat has a 12hr curing time
covered in video.
Well that’s just admitting CP Lite is better😋
Don’t worry tac systems, John bangs on about you guys more than anyone on YT

Carpro lite have a self healing 😉
Wow, the spray coats clogging up is a joke. How did they miss that serious oversight?
they give you a few triggers and they do tell you to remove the sprays and clean them after use.. problem is you end up dripping the material everywhere when you pull the sprayers out.. you ruin a microfiber towel just to wipe down the sprayer.
The TAC moonlight lid is the best way to do it. I dont like atomising ceramic material as well I think thats a health and safety issue personally.
Rinse the sprayer out with water after use
no mate.. this material does not mix with water its not water based. so filling up the sprayer with water means some water will find its way into the product, you are better off removing the trigger spray from the bottle and just empting whats in the stem and barrel, but even that is messy and this product will go everywhere. you are just better with the little cap on moonlight, theres no messing around.. but also like I said the reason to not spray this stuff around is overspray falling on panels and risk to health.. please do not go around quoting me on this reply. this is just my opinion.
hi tac system Moonlight can use as base or not?*

Evening Jon, don’t suppose I could ask you to review autobrite’s new magi seal would love to see your thoughts on it !

a) Its stated this product is to not be used with car windscreens. So side and rear glass only.
b) I would just machine it off. I dont recomend glass protection products to anyone they are a pain in the ass and they typically all cause a variety of issues. Ask yourself if you cant use it on the windscreen, whats the actual point? glass does not need protecting, so your just putting something there which is a pain in the ass to apply to make the water run off it it. pointless.
Forensic Detailing Channel thanks I messed up big time, I tried some invisible glass cleaner and was able to buff it as much as I could, I don’t have any machine so I was just working on a small area at a time
Finally!!!!!
This looks like an awesome vid. Watching with my dinner all smug. 🥰🥰😋😂😎
Tac systems need to send you their most recent formula. Lol😂😂
Only thing that changed is the chemical that made it cure in the sprayer. Besides that, still the same.
@@tacsystemusa1702 I have to admit that with the huge influx of companies joining this space I wrote you guys off pretty quickly despite good reviews. But now i'm seriously looking at your system as I have a better understanding of it now and it looks really attractive. The excellent reviews don't hurt either. So good job guys! Keep up the good work. I'll be a customer soon.
@@danmulvaney4580 thank you for being patient while waiting and letting everyone know it's worth the wait. Working on building stock for all to enjoy!
In real world conditions would last longer tac or seal n shine
i really dont know. but my gut instinct would say moonlight.. It turns to like a rock solid crystal. to problem is the only way we can really measure it is through hydrophobicity and this creates another problem.
Forensic Detailing Channel turtle wax lasted longer in the test?
Durability is most important test and I’m glad to see car pro lite was easily the winner
Then why do the other 3 promote their product as being a coating. Cp lite for the win🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I know, but theyre more like sealants then coatings really. to much hybrids!!
@@ForensicDetailing You and brian at apex detail are my favorite (favourite) detailing channels. you always keep it honest. I cant watch pan the organizer because everything he shows is like a commercial.... every video is just more and more paid videos by companies. it is not enjoyable to watch. you and brian are always fun and amazing to watch. I trust both of your opinions highly.!!
@@henryfreeman6113 Pan declares all his sponsored content. 99% of you tube does not. I know all the brands that offer payed promotion because most of them have approached me, so all the you tuber know who is taking payment and who is not, and also who is declaring it. Detailing channels generally are a lot more honest than the rest of you tube. As a You Tuber I could tell you a lot of things that go on and there is a huuuge problem on you tube with undeclared promotion which is pretty much illegal or at best its bypassing advertising standards for a particular country. but its a can of worms I dont want to open as I would make a LOT of enemies.. pretty much most of you tube.
My view is I have no problem with sponsored content.. I just have a problem with channels that dont want to tell you. Your pretty safe with most detailing channels. but as time goes by detailing is now attracting professional "you tubers" or content re-creators, that will just rehash viral content thats been discovered by grass root detailing channels. These pose the biggest threat really.
Forensic Detailing Channel I agree with you. But it gets so complicated and confusing when someone showcases tons and tons of products that they don’t actually use a lot. It just gets me more confused when I want to buy something
@@henryfreeman6113 fair enough mate. its hard for us as you tubers to be able to get it right for everyone but theres lot of channels to cater for all the tastes, Ive met most of the american you tubers and one thing that doesnt come accross is they are working so very hard to try and make YT work for them. and its not easy to do :) cheers Henry.
