"What! a wax, to apply over ceramic coating!!!?" - Mother of God! 😅. I say well done Gyeon for stirring the pot and putting it out there. It's not gonna be universally loved though.
I do not have a negative comment and I have never used any of these three. If you like it it's good enough for me but I probably will not buy it because I have fusso. Based on this review I can confidently say that Fusso is more durable which is what I'm after.
A great revue! The interesting thing for me was if you remove the cost score, Autoglym scores 11 winning by one point over the other two that scored 10 points each.
I think bringing a wax in the range is a great idea. They now cover all bases. It’s a pity the Turtle Wax 75th wax wasn’t in the comparison to compare a wax with ceramic/graphing in and see if this makes a difference. DSW never lets you down and is so cheap.

Great review. I have to stick with my Soft 99 Fusso Coat, there is no reason to not finish the can before buying something new. I'm thinking about what polish I should buy, have the Autoglym super resin in my thoughts but don't know if there is other one step hand polishes that could compete with it. I'm not looking for perfect finish when my car is a 23year old beater with som small rust bobles and stone chips.
Waxes tend to leave a warm finish. Which of the 3 was the warmest? I tend to wax show cars versus ceramic sealants or coatings as they don't see weather and leave the best finish. Thanks!
One place wax is better than ceramic coatings is wax doesn't need to cure for 24hrs. As a mobile valeter in the UK where 99% of customers don't keep their car in a garage so you can't guarantee a car is going to stay dry, let alone bird crap free, for 24hrs. So. i offer Angelwax Enigma ceramic wax which Angelwax said when I asked them doesn't need a cure time at all. Sure you can get quicker curing time coatings but the ones Ive seen have a short life, in which cade you might as well apply a good wax
I have the Gyeon wax and i find it ok to apply, but not that great to get off. plus it then leaves the car "sticky" and dust/pollen adhere very easily after that... does look good for pics right after though.
John I absolutely love the structure of your videos and the fun that you have! Could you please review the Bilt Hamber Finis wax in the future? I just picked some up here in the US and it is by far for the money the most impressive wax I’ve tried yet
Dors anyone remember Blitz wax? It is a carnauba wax which was popular about 20 years ago; I still have two tins of it. I wonder how it stands up to all the modern products.
I like this video alot. I eventually removed my ceramic because it wasn't me. With this video however, I think using a different brand APC may have been better. Bilt hamber would have ensured their products were compatible
Cracking review Jon, I love dsw, I just wish it was a little smoother to the touch compare to others no issues other than that, I always apply outside with a damp applicator. Really keen to try the gyeon wax, always been put off by the price point of the HD its a non starter when there are so many from soft99 and bilt hamber at bargin prices that last months. What pen you using on that panel tho Jon?? I assumed it was chalk but it doesn't come off is it a paint pen?
Another great comparison thanks Jon. I too like experimenting with different products. I use double speed AG UHD but I also have several Meguiars It’s interesting comparing them all An interesting video which I would like to see you do would be a similar video on the three paste waxes from meguairs Ultimate vs Gold vs NXT vs Mirror bright I think there’s only one decent video where they compare some of these. There are others but they don’t do anything like as good a good a job as you. They throw it on, spray some water and pick a winner. I always think it’s great when you do something on the high street brands Ive had a play with all of these and the differences are interesting. In particular I found the mirror bright really dusts up (not good) may have been my application but I honestly don’t think so You could use double speed as a control 😀 I also agree with your view on ceramic. I have thought about it. But I enjoy washing my car. Trying different products including waxes. Applying a long-standing ceramic would likely be a waste for me. Great products, just not for me
This week a bird dropping ruined my BMW black paint on a door. It was in the car for no more than 8 hours, but it made a hole through the clear coat into the paint! The door had a 2 weeks old layer of Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax and a 3 days old layer of ADBL synthetic spray wax on it. Unfortunately, they didn't protect the paint at all, so now I had to switch to a ceramic coating :(. Bird droppings have a PH of 3~4.5 and Cquartz has a PH resistancy of 3~13, so I hope next time this won't happen! I was in shock. I was an adept of paint sealants/waxes in spray or paste, but unfortunately, I now had to switch to ceramics that are way more time-consuming and expensive.
if that bird dropping sat there and ate through to the paintwork it will go through that coating rapidly as well. theres real advantages to coatings dont get me wrong but generally they are not for me on my main car. and my family car gets smashed up so its pointless "protecting" the paint. bird crap is the least of my worries with the way my missed drives into things.
Great vid 👍 I've just got back into detailing my car after the max power years many moons ago. I used to use super resin polish and ultra gloss protection together is this still a good way to do it I also have purchased auto gym ceramic spray not sure when to apply after what process? I already snow foam and wash .
I fall into the category of someone that has lots of different waxes that I'm happy with, but I still want to buy the Geyon, what is wrong with me 🤦♂️
Having taking into account the performance characteristics of BH Double Speed against the other two on test and then factoring in the price BH DS is in a different league:)
Hi Jon, great review as always. I’ve got a question for you. I use the auto glym polar series (snow foam, contact, seal with hydrophobic wash) when I wash the car. I wanted to know when I should be applying one of these wax products to the car? Is it after the polar series wash in full or before the hydrophobic coat? Thanks in advance!
so with a paste wax you wash the car with pre wash and pure shampoos. decon/clay if required (if contamination is present). machine polish the paintwork if its swirly or dull. then do like a panel wipedown to degrease the paintwork. And apply a wax or sealant etc.... then in a months time if you want to boost hydrophobic and add protection you can wash and top up with polar seal for example. polar seal is more like a booster top up than a base line protection product if you get me.
ask the guy your buying it off is best way (not being funny). Otherwise you can only guess what material is on there. although if its been recently coated you could go looking with workshop lighting for high spots and signs etc..
A great video as always I tried the gyeon wax it fantastic But I notice some ghosting on some panels Is that because I applied it thick How can I remove the ghosting
I use the BH with a damp applicator. Do you reckon if I dampen the applicator with Koch Chemie FSE quick detailed rather than water it would be better ?
@@ForensicDetailing Peter Hamber has said that Finis Wax has greater 'mechanical' durability, but DSW has greater 'detergent ' durability. So if you aren't able to wash your car as often as you'd like, then Finis may be the better option if trying to decide between the two.
yes and we measure by looking at hydrophobicity so waxes with hydrophobic polymers in the blend have an advantage even though the less hydrophobic based waxes might last longer its harder to see it.
I think you gonna like it dave, with full prep the car is a water magnet repellening beast for a while. its no fusso or DS durability but its very impressive.
Hi Jon, really liked this video as thinking of buying the Gyeon wax as already have the others. Can you tell me if paste waxes have a shelf life as my UHD has a symbol saying once opened its good for 18 months but I do keep my waxes indoors so there not exposed to extreme fluctuations in temperature. Thanks
old school wax/oil/solvent ones could last for yeasr. modern ones with other materials mixed in.. some polymers can expire after 1-2 years so it varies product to product. generally you are good though for 2-3 years.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for that Jon, so my UHD wax should be good for more than 18 months. How would i tell if it is no longer any good to use. Also some products say they will give you 6-12 months protection so you might only use them a few times before they expire or are they just saying that so you go and buy more. Thanks
yer more to come on this. its not like an "advantage" in application. Its just like a neat/clever application idea. and implementing this idea requires that extra bit of work and cost that most companies dont do and this can seperate gyeon from the hurd. the down side is the bespoke application method is a tad slow because the applicator is smaller but you can just load onto a bigg appliocator I guess. stay tuned.
Nice one Jon! Have you ever used Dimond Brite products K2 ceramics etc be interested to see how you think about them as I been using the for about 8years now! Maxwax Finland🤔
Hi , I've recently purchased a das 6 v2 which i intend to dip my toes into machine polishing with using auto finesse tripple ( mainly as i have some on the shelf). Following that i will be looking at using a wax on a regular basis to maintain the finish. All these waxes have been done by hand in this test. Is there one which lends itself more to using a machine polisher?
Quick question Jon, 'As a tube wax, I am guessing it can be machine applied with a soft pad? Is there any word on that. It would be interesting to know, just I am tighter than a nun's chuff. Seeing it takes 30 mins to cure, reckon it would be worth a try
i wonder how gyeon wax slots into your tac moonlight and wet coat system is it over kill or dose it prolong the time inbetween the big wash an wax detail with confidence an awesome beading more of the time, surely gloss would be amazing and we allready know carrier systems will be fine together
Hi Jon I’m starting to get into gyeon in a big way until I watched your video on fusso wax, you have created a quandary in my head to which one?? HELP🤣🤣 what’s your opinion
I was really looking forward to gyeon wax with high hopes of replacing my original fusso which is running out. Unfortunately the lack of durability is a real letdown for me. Search goes on then 😅
Would you be able to leave that panel, outside for 4 weeks and then see how well the application lasts. I have a vehicle that's outside all the time and keen to see which would provide a longer lasting effect.
DS will last the longest no doubt about that this video is a few months old. AG and gyeon theres not much between them in real world conditions. people are reporting 1 month with gyeon which I think is way under estimating it. I use the word "think" because ive had it on my red peril for about 3 weeks and its going strong still. I suspect im going to get like 2-3 months at least. But durability is always subject mate. products I see last 8 months for me in real life other people claim only last 2 weeks.
So you can put the gyeon wax over a ceramic eg can coat or wet coat. But what would you use at the end of a maintenance wash stage? Gyeon qd or cure or there new ceramic spray detailer, or would these not ‘sit’ right over the wax? Suprised they dont have a spray wax alternative to accompany the wax stick. Is it solvent heavy do we know?
You’re not using a drying aid or a qd after the wash. You apply a hard coating like Moh’s. but now you want a high contact angle - Wax. When the car stops beading the way you want slather on more wax. 1-2 punch
If you like waxing your car then for the price I think the gyeon is worth a try. The half an hour cure is a bit of a pain. Maybe some will throw a bucket of water over the Mrs daily whilst waiting. I wonder how it performs in hot weather? Enjoyed the review John, thanks:)
I would like to know about mega hot weather as well.. i applied it in the sun but it was only say 17 deg. how does it far at 30 deg days, does it go greasey does it melt in the tube etc.. these are good points.
Autoglym UHD is a cracking wax Jon. Gone over to Autofinesse Illusion show wax as it makes my Black FN2 look dripping wet and glossy but ill always go back to UHD for winter protection 👍
Hi bud, I have a black vw passat 2013 pretty sure never had any detailing done, swirls and holograms are awesome...plus even after a wash paint looks dirty and dull absolutely zero shine. In one video you talked about complete decontamination which would be a wash followed by clay but you never touched upon the chemical ratios and what chemicals you'd use before actually going in with the claying. I will be attempting to polish when the weather allows as doing it outside and then wax to seal the deal. For now have you any video explaining the chemical uses before claying or is it unnecessary? Already ordered korrosol for my awful wheels so that'll be arriving shortly but not sure how much use it'll be to use on the body prior to claying. Cheers 🍻
so wash it down mate with pure shampoo loads of brush work. clean it twice if need be.. rinse it off. go over paintwork with BH korrosol and let it react purple on the paint for 3-4 mis then agitiate it with wash mitt like you are shampooing the car again.. then pressure wash it off. Then dry car... then clay it with BH white clay and soapy water as clay lube in trigger sprayer. then dry off car. and machine or hand polish and wax. I have lots of content in the detailings fudamentals playlist on my channel homepage on all this but also you should check out my Detailing Fundamentals training course with discount code applied which covers the lot in a structures online course. ioa.pxf.io/c/2687409/1012495/12764

I use the autoglym uhd and i find it very good, and find it easy to put on and get off.
buffs really nice no greasey trails. top draw product
DSW never lets you down and is so cheap.
i have some comparison coming soon with the TW 75 one as well soon chris.
I wonder how Fusso speed barrier would work to maintain gyeon wax? considering speed barrier is fluorine based as well
Yasss. Been waiting patiently for this 👍😎

Guys like you make this possible thank you for being awesome and positive. Rgs jon
Great review. I have to stick with my Soft 99 Fusso Coat, there is no reason to not finish the can before buying something new.
I'm thinking about what polish I should buy, have the Autoglym super resin in my thoughts but don't know if there is other one step hand polishes that could compete with it. I'm not looking for perfect finish when my car is a 23year old beater with som small rust bobles and stone chips.
nice a fusso-style sniff, jon we can tell its strength from how cross-eyed you go
The branding on the new tins looks really nice, loving my double speedwax that just arrived, thanks for the reviews!
I have been waiting for this.
Can’t wait to use this, the wait has been to long
I have the Gyeon wax and i find it ok to apply, but not that great to get off.
plus it then leaves the car "sticky" and dust/pollen adhere very easily after that... does look good for pics right after though.
I am going to buy some and try it out myself 😜
John I absolutely love the structure of your videos and the fun that you have! Could you please review the Bilt Hamber Finis wax in the future? I just picked some up here in the US and it is by far for the money the most impressive wax I’ve tried yet
Thanks m8. I talk about finis in the bilt Hamber brand review
Orderd mine today
I use double speed AG UHD but I also have several Meguiars
It’s interesting comparing them all
An interesting video which I would like to see you do would be a similar video on the three paste waxes from meguairs
Ultimate vs Gold vs NXT vs Mirror bright
I think there’s only one decent video where they compare some of these. There are others but they don’t do anything like as good a good a job as you. They throw it on, spray some water and pick a winner. I always think it’s great when you do something on the high street brands
Ive had a play with all of these and the differences are interesting. In particular I found the mirror bright really dusts up (not good) may have been my application but I honestly don’t think so
You could use double speed as a control 😀
I also agree with your view on ceramic.
@@ForensicDetailing thanks Jon. Will you need to reapply the paste wax after every wash?
noice!! Thanks for the info. Bilt Hamber just does the job for me, every time, except in the rinseless wash category.
i do love that geon tire ceramic stuff, works great and lasts very long.
Really good fair review - very detailed. I find the best wax I've used for gloss - hydrophobic - durability is old school collinite 845
Great review, have you reviewed Collinite 476, I use this and find it is easy to apply and reasonably priced at around £25 for 200g
Not review ee it but used it m8
Great content again John , if you have a second hand car how do you know if it has a ceramic coating on it already.
ask the guy your buying it off is best way (not being funny). Otherwise you can only guess what material is on there. although if its been recently coated you could go looking with workshop lighting for high spots and signs etc..
A great video as always
I tried the gyeon wax it fantastic
But I notice some ghosting on some panels
Is that because I applied it thick
How can I remove the ghosting
Yes m8 get clean cloth final wipe down bit of qd as well the deliver final finish
Is the gyeon durable enough to last a british winter 3-4months or is the double speed a better option
One thing you didn't pick up is that being in a tube makes the Gyeon easy to apply by machine polisher.
I use the BH with a damp applicator. Do you reckon if I dampen the applicator with Koch Chemie FSE quick detailed rather than water it would be better ?
Like always great and absolutely honest test 👍, thank you
Great in-depth review as always John. 😊 Can you please do a comparison of the Bilt Hamber Finis Wax vs the Double Speed wax..? 🤔
finis wax is twice the price and less hydrophobic, but smoother to buff.
Cheers John
@@ForensicDetailing Peter Hamber has said that Finis Wax has greater 'mechanical' durability, but DSW has greater 'detergent ' durability. So if you aren't able to wash your car as often as you'd like, then Finis may be the better option if trying to decide between the two.
yes and we measure by looking at hydrophobicity so waxes with hydrophobic polymers in the blend have an advantage even though the less hydrophobic based waxes might last longer its harder to see it.
purchased it right after watching this.
I think you gonna like it dave, with full prep the car is a water magnet repellening beast for a while. its no fusso or DS durability but its very impressive.
Great comprehensive review.
Thanks
Gyeon states the shelf life of Wax is 5 years once open
Bilt hamber takes it for me
Winner every time...
Been interested in this product since the launch, but disappointed in its durability. Great video
No mention of its branding..... and design. Do it's ' stick nature ' have advantages for application over the regular pot/tins?
yer more to come on this. its not like an "advantage" in application.
Not used m8 they are not so hot over here but that does not mean they are bad
Hi , I've recently purchased a das 6 v2 which i intend to dip my toes into machine polishing with using auto finesse tripple ( mainly as i have some on the shelf). Following that i will be looking at using a wax on a regular basis to maintain the finish. All these waxes have been done by hand in this test. Is there one which lends itself more to using a machine polisher?
John can you add gyeon wet coat on top of waxes like bilt hamper double speed Thanks
Quick question Jon, 'As a tube wax, I am guessing it can be machine applied with a soft pad? Is there any word on that. It would be interesting to know, just I am tighter than a nun's chuff. Seeing it takes 30 mins to cure, reckon it would be worth a try
Yeah and cuz it’s in a deodorant stick it’ll be easier to get into the pad than using a spork
i wonder how gyeon wax slots into your tac moonlight and wet coat system is it over kill or dose it prolong the time inbetween the big wash an wax detail with confidence an awesome beading more of the time, surely gloss would be amazing and we allready know carrier systems will be fine together
Im sort of thinking 1 or the other. but you could top moonlight with gyeon wax, not the other way around though.
Hi Jon I’m starting to get into gyeon in a big way until I watched your video on fusso wax, you have created a quandary in my head to which one?? HELP🤣🤣 what’s your opinion
Old fusso is unbeatable for durability.
@@ForensicDetailing you say old is it still available or is the new formula the only option
I was really looking forward to gyeon wax with high hopes of replacing my original fusso which is running out. Unfortunately the lack of durability is a real letdown for me. Search goes on then 😅
if you have a garage its not a problem if the car sits outside then yes fair play i think.
Jon is it a detailing Faux Pax to use a machine polisher with a solid wax? I’m getting horrible results and feel like I’m breaking unwritten rules.
Liquid wax goes on better, with da, some paste waxed go on ok with da on low speed. But by hand is generally better m8
1-2 punch
How do these waxes compare to the Fusso months wax?
Good video. You do make me laugh... bead tastic 😄
@@ForensicDetailing now it's officially made "the shelf" and with summer approaching I'm sure you will give it a fair go this year. Thanks again
Autoglym UHD is a cracking wax Jon. Gone over to Autofinesse Illusion show wax as it makes my Black FN2 look dripping wet and glossy but ill always go back to UHD for winter protection 👍
its a high quality product thats amazing to buff and car that is freshly waxes with this stuff looks epic.
Exelente contenido!. Saludos desde Uruguay!

@@ForensicDetailing what a legend of a man, thanks alot mate I am watching every single video you release and you're the reason I am getting into detailing, again thanks big man
