Applied to wifes daily driver. Still beading and glossy after 2 years. This stuff is no joke. Prep is key though. I didn't use an applicator to apply. Was sprayed directly into microfibre towel as exactly shown by Gyeon in their videos. Cant attest to other methods but every time it rains on my wifes car, you can easily see the coating working by the tight beading AFTER 2 YEARS

Im tipping it might see 30months as technically its at 27 months in 2 weeks. I would have used $10aud worth of coating making this the best value coating ever in my experience
Hello great video and nice suggestions… I have a question: Two weeks ago i have applied Can coat Evo, now i have a little scratch on the rear bumper, to polish. It’s a little spot/area of about 4 cm, just to fix the problem… After that, can i reapply Can Coat Evo only in that little spot? Do i need to prep again that little area? A smaller bottle perhaps would be a great option fort he domestic market but the results look almost worth the cost of that by how easy it is to apply and the clear results shown. Seems like a good choice as a 'one and done' for all cars. if nothing else just to get through it all! I use microfibre applicators for every final stage product I use, regardless of what the instructions say (outside of ceramic coatings, go with what they say/provide). Subbed. (obviously)
Thanks for subscribing! I did a quick post on it on the main channel but keep forgetting to mention it in a video haha. Agreed about the smaller bottle, it'd be great if that was an option

Great video, as always, Heather. I have gyeon Infinite base coat type 1, and I have to take my car back after 2 years to have a top-up of Can Coat Evo, so it was good to see how easy it is to use.
Haha give it a go, it's honestly not hard to use. Just make sure to work in small sections and wipe off straight away and you'll be fine. High spots are easy to rectify too by just applying again
@autocarehqextra Righto! I will Heather, promise......I've only just bought 2 weeks ago. Living in inclement Northumberland weather, I will have to pick my moment. Biggest problem I have with cancoat, is as a weekend warrior, the bottle is too big. It lasts around a year after opening but with one car i barely use maybe 30% of the bottle in a year. Then it goes bad. It’s the same with carpro cq lite. I even used it very royally on my wheels and barely made it to 50% until it went bad. As a commercial detailer, it’s great though!
CanCoat has better hydrophobics than most big coatings. I got a solid year out of it on a car that sits outside and then the top panels started to show signs of breakdown. The crazy hydrophobics only last a few months even though it beads over a year. Currently using Gyeon Pure EVO with NV JET as a topper. JET is about as hydrophobic as CanCoat but easier wipe off and can be used as a drying aide or detailer.
Brilliant video for anyone thinking of using Can coat, love to see a similar one for Infinity wax Synergy. I think a lot of the same procedures will apply though.
I applied CanCoat Evo beginning of the year, lasted 6 months, but I did apply it outside at the beginning of January, temps were around 5 degrees, which I think is pretty good. I applied using a suede applicator. It was slightly grabby on application and removal at those temps though, which was my own fault, but nothing too bad. I have also been a Tac Moonlight user for a number of years and I find that much more enjoyable to apply/remove, slightly less durable and you have to plan when applying (weather dependant). Even though both are easy to use, I prefer Moonlight, had the same bottle for 3 years and it still performs like the day I got it. My bottle of CanCoat went like jelly after 8 months from being opened
CanCoat EVO is probably the most durable coating before going full ceramic coating. Need little most attention over regular sealant when applying but the result is very good.
So glad you did this review. I’ve used this on a car that was garaged and it lasted over 18 months. Used Wet Coat every 3 months. As you say it is very forgiving. I got the application wrong on the plastic wheel arch trim and just reapplied the next day and it was fine. Great gloss, beading - just excellent.
I have a question can I apply a cheap ceramic coating like this without polishing. I did clay the car a couple weeks ago. The car was keyed many years ago that's the only defect I think there is in the paintwork. However, other than that just some swirls. So do I really need to polish it before applying?
My favorite product. I got a solid 12 months of very good beading with the original. Evo is even better. A product that overdelivers. I'll be curious how it holds up in the UK climate.
Great video. Really interesting, I like to use Bilt Hamber Double Speed wax but that's just me. Doubtless I'll give ceramic a go one day, so this was very useful and informative. Thank you.
Another brilliant explanation of a product that looks less fussy than GT CS and will last longer probably. Obviously being a wax guy it is not something I would put on my own car but it would not be out of the question on other cars. Do you think I could put it on single stage paint on the MX5. It came back from the panel beater today looking brand new after he lost the back end on a roundabout.
Thanks for watching John. I can’t see any issue with putting it on single stage paint although Gyeon doesn’t explicitly say it on the website, it does seem to be described as a coating that can go on pretty much anything
Hello, great video, 2 weeks ago i have applied “Gyeon Can coat Evo” on my black Audi. I have now a little scratch to polish on my bumper. Once i have finished with the machine polisher can i reapply the “Can coat Evo” only in that little spot after prep? Thanks and best regards 🙏
Thanks! Yep that’ll be fine. Ideally you could polish the panel just to make sure there’s an even layer but with this I wouldn’t worry about it really. Just panel wipe and apply the coating to a slightly larger area than you’ve polished 😊
Hello Caretakers. I started my car care routine with paste waxes. I then used ADBL Synthetic Spray Wax for a few years, which brought a significant improvement in terms of beading behaviour and durability, but above all in terms of ease of application. I then used Gyeon CanCoat Evo for my then new car. I also applied it to our second car after polishing this older vehicle. I top both with Gyeon Cure from time to time. So what is my opinion? CanCoat Evo is a real coating, which also has disadvantages. Application is far more time-consuming than with ADBL. It gives a better shine and equally great beading behaviour. The easy-to-clean effect is pronounced. In terms of durability, the CanCoat is slightly ahead. But honestly, when I consider the extra effort involved, it doesn't quite outweigh the advantages. I doubt whether I would buy it again.
A nice review and application for this Gyeon ceramic coating. Can I ask, as I’m still in the wax is not dead camp; do these ceramic coatings reduce the amount of contaminants (tar, fallout, iron) that actually stick to the surface?
Heather, do you wash and reuse these applicators or they have to be single use in order to not damage the paint on the next application? I just got a pack of the same ones, wondering if rags to riches can get them clean again after the coating
Nope don't use them on the paintwork again, they'll still harden up even if you wash them quickly. Same goes with the microfibre towels. You can demote them to use on tyres etc. though if you don't want to throw them away
Nicely done video, would be cool if you get to try and review a few more of these and give us your best recommendation as it saves me buying them all…. 😂😂
Pretty cool. I don't recall if you said how long the coating lasts after the bottle was opened. That's a large can. Would take a while to use up. How's the shop project coming along? Thanks Heather.
Thanks Kim! It’s 6-12 months after opening. If it’s just being used by an enthusiast on one car then it’ll probs just be okay for 2 applications but I think it works out about 10 cars at least otherwise if you can get through the bottle. It’s going well thanks, got some things in the works for storage so hopefully gonna make a video in the next few months on it!
makes a great topper to a ceramic coated car. and you can extend the life of the spray heads by flushing them through with hot water after you've finished the coating :)
I thought this was exclusive to accredited detailers rather than general public. Definitely looking at getting some to redo my trims with and a coat on my wheels.
Very good and clear instructions so thank you for that 👍. Serious question though, you say don't wash the car for a week after applying. If i apply this coating and a seagull decides to deposit it's breakfast over my car (which happens very frequently), am I ok to hose the car down to minimise etching and if so would this affect the curing of the product? Thanks again 👍👍.
Thank you! Yeah it’s best to get that bird poo off asap, if you can do it without strong chemicals and just use water that would be best but just getting it off there is the main thing to avoid etching
When I looked into it Gyeon just said apply the second coat an hour later, I think at that point the first coat will be willing to accept another layer without it wiping the first layer off but it won’t potentially get rejected which is the risk of leaving it too long
For this season I applied can coat on carpro essense as primer polishing after full decontamination, what do you think of that? And something else, can we regularely wash with acidic shampoo if we have water drying in the car where we park?
@@autocarehqextra Thanks a lot. I have big problem with water falling from balconies in the city where I park, from laundry or cleaning bulding entrances. Almost daily!
Ideally it'd be best to use the Gyeon primer tbf but I can't imagine the products being a million miles apart. Wiping with Gyeon Prep would still be best though
What is your stance on the clay towel if you want to clay but skip polishing. Obviously only works on light contamination but I've come to find they are safe like some claim.
I’m still weary to be honest, I’ve used them on soft Japanese paint and still got some very slight marring even when using very good clay lubricants. On harder paints though I think it could be a viable option but I’d have to test it more myself before I felt really confident in them
Interesting product 🤔 A bit late for me because a just polished my car using Rupes Uno Advanced adds a protective layer as well as removing light defects.Rupes claim 12 months protection. I guessing you couldn’t use this product as a topper for the Rupes?
So this is for someone who doesn't (can't) want to machine polish their car? In 12 minths time, how do you remove the remnants of the coating? Machine polish it? Can you see my big big issue with these 1yr ceramics? Or am i wrong?
To be honest though it’s kind of the same with pretty much any type of protection, if you want to guarantee it’s gone then abrasion is the only real way. Gyeon do have a new product though, Total Remover I think it’s called off the top of my head which is designed to remove coatings without polishing so that could be the answer
It's a good product, but I found 6 months is the maximum I get out of CanCoat EVO here in the UK with our weather. Be prepared to apply it twice a year on a maintained car
I've had evo on my car for a year and it was starting to die off. Kept outside but low miles, washed every month or so. I've just reapplied it again, on top of the old coating, didn't bother polishing this time. Defo lasted well past 6 months.
This one has got me thinking Heather - I pick up a new car next month and it will be untreated. Do you think this would be a good choice to go for in terms of cost/performance over a full treatment? Also, would you clean the car prior to the treatment even if it is fresh from the factory as such. As always, another great, honest video. Cheers, Graham
Thanks for watching 😊 yeah it’s a good option definitely. Yep I’d still do a full wash and chemical decon and panel wipe with Gyeon Prep as most cars from factory have some contamination which they pick up during transport. You can also clay and machine polish it if there’s any defects bugging you. I’d definitely ask for the dealership not to wash the vehicle before you collect it as they’ll often inflict some swirls during their prep. They might look at you a bit funny when you ask but they should be fine with it!
No problem! I’d personally skip the clay bar if you’re not polishing, just so there’s no marring left behind. The paintwork should be pretty well prepped after the chemical decon though 😊
great video! it’s awesome that gyeon adds extra sprayers because those types of products do clog after awhile. a work around for that problem is to put a pop top pour spout from a used shampoo bottle, (if it will fit and screw on properly). then you can gently pour a few drops onto the applicator like you would a regular 30ml and also enjoy the benefit of no overspray on the vehicle or more importantly on your skin 👍🏽🐿️💨
Silly how big the bottle is. Maybe for detailers to upsell a basic coating they would get through it but with one car enthusiasts won't get through it...
Yeah very similar claims. One thing I noticed though is the applicator doesn’t really harden with hard coat but it definitely does with this so I’d say the protection should be stronger
Its a pity i would have so much wasted product. If you can only use it 6 months after opening I would only get one use for my car and one for the wife's car.
Gyeon car soaps clog waxes and sealants. Their WetCoat product lasts for only 2 weeks, even though they claim it has 4 to 6 months of durability. They focus heavily on marketing their products instead of improving the quality, which is why their smallest bottle size is 400ml, compared to 500ml from their competitors. Additionally, they have a high mark-up for dealers to push the products out the door. However, in my opinion and experience, the quality isn't good.
jesus, if you're gonna get a ceramic coat, don't get this middle of the road stuff. You want something premium like a ceramic coat? Spend the buck to do it properly, not whatever this is. If this sort of thing is what you want just go with an entry level sealant or "ceramic" spray wax like the turtle wax stuff.
It’s definitely step up compared to a ceramic sealant/ spray wax. The applicator goes very hard after use, the same as with a longer term coating. The product is ideal for those who are interested in coatings but intimidated by the ones in glass bottles or don’t want to machine polish

Yep that sounds good to me :) I wouldn't wash with an acidic shampoo every time to be honest, probs just monthly at the most.
@@autocarehqextra Thanks a lot. I have big problem with water falling from balconies in the city where I park, from laundry or cleaning bulding entrances. Almost daily!
@@autocarehqextra I asked because gyeon makes their own primer, but I have essence in big bottle.
Ideally it'd be best to use the Gyeon primer tbf but I can't imagine the products being a million miles apart. Wiping with Gyeon Prep would still be best though
@@autocarehqextra Carpro says ideally you don`t wipe it with panel prep, so I didn`t 😄
Tershine Refract V3❤
What is your stance on the clay towel if you want to clay but skip polishing. Obviously only works on light contamination but I've come to find they are safe like some claim.
I’m still weary to be honest, I’ve used them on soft Japanese paint and still got some very slight marring even when using very good clay lubricants. On harder paints though I think it could be a viable option but I’d have to test it more myself before I felt really confident in them
@@autocarehqextra I can see that on Japanese paints. Fair.
Interesting product 🤔 A bit late for me because a just polished my car using Rupes Uno Advanced adds a protective layer as well as removing light defects.Rupes claim 12 months protection.
I guessing you couldn’t use this product as a topper for the Rupes?
Uno Advanced looks like a really cool product, I probs wouldn’t use this as a topper for that though
Use wet coat or gyeon ceramic detailer as a topper
What would you recommend for the pure shampoo that is economical?
Garage Therapy /One: Car Shampoo and Stjarnagloss Matta are two of my favourites
@@autocarehqextra ahh, thank you. I shall look into that
It's a good product, but I found 6 months is the maximum I get out of CanCoat EVO here in the UK with our weather. Be prepared to apply it twice a year on a maintained car
Thanks for the info. I’m interested to see how long it lasts on this
@@autocarehqextrathe previous version was only 6 months durability. This Evo version I would say is true to the 12 months if applied correctly
@@autocarehqextra Great shout Heather - I think I will do all those steps - bar the machine polish :)
No problem! I’d personally skip the clay bar if you’re not polishing, just so there’s no marring left behind. The paintwork should be pretty well prepped after the chemical decon though 😊
Bloody Oth the cleanest VW UP! in the UK, Did you hurt yourself again Heather? The right arm 😉
I scalded it on the kettle! It’s healed now tbf just lost my slight tan on that patch of my arm 😂
@@autocarehqextra ha ha 😄
Fantastic lady Heather 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💐💐💐
Cheers Humberto!
Would you need to wax the car before applying
Nope it needs applying to bare paintwork so definitely don’t apply a wax before
@@autocarehqextra thanks Heather love you video
great video! it’s awesome that gyeon adds extra sprayers because those types of products do clog after awhile.
a work around for that problem is to put a pop top pour spout from a used shampoo bottle, (if it will fit and screw on properly). then you can gently pour a few drops onto the applicator like you would a regular 30ml and also enjoy the benefit of no overspray on the vehicle or more importantly on your skin 👍🏽🐿️💨
Thank you! That’s a great tip too 😊
👍
🎉👍👍😊
Do not breathe the spray in, the sprayer atomises it and Gyeon do not show people using a mask when applying.
Silly how big the bottle is. Maybe for detailers to upsell a basic coating they would get through it but with one car enthusiasts won't get through it...
Looks the same as autobrite hard coat same application and 12 months durability
Yeah very similar claims. One thing I noticed though is the applicator doesn’t really harden with hard coat but it definitely does with this so I’d say the protection should be stronger
@@autocarehqextra well worth a try Heather
Grabby not slick average product. Very over hyped & definitely not as easy as many claim.
The product is ideal for those who are interested in coatings but intimidated by the ones in glass bottles or don’t want to machine polish
get better mic
Had some issues with it in this vid unfortunately as there was some background noise going on
@@autocarehqextra Sound was fine.
Heather, if u did get a gazeboo, u could also use it if u went events like Waxstock, to promote the business!!
