I totally like that you talk about what fits the sweet spot for whatever your purpose is. I said the same thing in your review of the SV650X, saying that the SV is a bit pretentious as a track bike (stock front suspension sucks) but that with the X the SV found itself as a weekday street bike and a weekend canyon carver -- and no more than that. There's too much talk about the biggest, the leastest, the mostest, etc, and not the sweet spots. Thanks.

But when you crack that throttle good, you get a glimpse of what 180 horsepower actually is. Rip your head off rip your arms out brutal power. And it is awesome.

There's no excuse for an exorbitantly-priced modern day superbike to be outclassed by a lower capacity bike from 15 years ago.

Far from ridiculous, it's kind of been a running gag for anybody who doesn't ride Ducatis for decades lol. You've never had a single driveway ornament dig?
Sorry bud, but for a start you're touting horsepower, a figure that they inflate with release on every model, as if that's the determining factor.
Does raise a good point though. Why is it when released to reviewers and dyno'd that they INVARIABLY come in often well below the stats that Duc are selling them with. If they say it's 220bhp you can be sure it'll be closer to 200. Oversell and underdeliver is Duc's modus operandi, which is why they're always playing catchup and their flagship releases if they ever have an edge are eclipsed in no time.
All status and style. Like a vacuous model that's good to fck but fcking horrible to have a conversation with.

It’s fun to just hammer on it and I enjoy that feeling of needing full concentration. I’m not sure I’d enjoy all the new electronic rider aids of the new R1. The Ducati looks pretty leisurely. Wouldn’t mind taking that for a ride. But it’s always fun to get on an R1 and get your heart pumping.

I think v4 will be ahead upto 200 then h2 would catch it. The supercharger help it to accelerate very fast above 200. And on track h2 or h2r whatever u bring it's gonna lose against Base v4 or rsv4 or s1krr. H2r wins in a straight line though any day.

Cost wise to performance the R1 is great. Performance it might be closer to a base V4. I rode a V2 2020 model recently as a test ride and really just loved everthing about it except one thing. The hips. The hips did not like it. Not sure if over did it or it something to get used to or what. Heat was not too bad. There is a heat mod you can do to knock it down. Suspension was great on it.

I ended up with an S1000RR over the R1 back in 2015 due to the trans recall that was happening at the time but it was mainly the ergo on the R1 just did not agree with me. The seat is very track oriented and hard and the pegs are def too high for a longer ride. However I will say this I also had the chance to ride the 1199 around the same time and while the Duc felt more comfortable initially the insane burn I had to my thighs and butt within 20min on the bike was unbearable and just on that fact alone in California especially its a no go for me. The Yam can have its rearsets swapped for something more street friendly and same goes with a comfort seat to make it a much better street machine. And frankly I felt the Duc had rather abrupt fuelling with a torque curve that just did not seem street friendly I did not get that feeling from the R1 which felt much more linear in its delivery.
