the tri spokes on these cars are in my opinion the coolest looking factory wheel ever
They are so cool
agreed mate
Fuck yeah. And now these bad boys look so sweet with the 20s in the tri spoke
The VN group A wheels are one of the nicest ones also
@@MarkSmith455 agreed! 👌
I was 5 years old when the first car I remember my old man having was a VS Calais with the 3.8L V6, it was a beast for its time but obviously by todays standards it’s not much anymore, then a couple years later he upgraded to a VT Commodore SS with the 5.0L V8.
Again for its time it was a rocketship and the engine note was orgasmic, it’s what started my love for cars at a really young age. 179kW may be laughable for a big V8 motor by todays standards since most modern 4cylinder turbos would gap it, but man, the exhaust note and looks of the oldschool Commodore’s, what a beast of a machine.
I miss seeing them on the road, now all you see is just family cars, SUV’s and most commonly Ute’s have taken over the nation.
Dads vn was only 3.8 near went harder than my worked ls2😂
The VS GTS or VS Senator in Cherry Black 🍒 have always been my favourite HSV's. I know the Aussie 5L and 5.7L stroker are nothing much when looking at the numbers but they just sound so good! Respect to the owner for the tasteful upgrades on this example 👏
Holden nailed it with the VS this thing is a work of art and sounds even better than it looks. Love it
It’s a beautiful car
Neat looking vs gts. Love the old school v8's💪
Same here!
Dam, this reminds me of my 1993 Vauxhall Cavalier saloon in black, boot spoiler, had a 3.2v6 out of a vectra, 18" lowered, full 3" exhaust, f28 gearbox, just pulled like a tank, 110mph in 3rd, grey cloth interior, tinted windows, v6 rumble, in the UK it was a retro beast, its on my account of videos. God I miss it 😢
Man this was the shit. If you had a gts you were the king.
At the time ford couldn't hold a light to the old iron lion. (fan of both Holden and Ford Australia) I remember seeing one brand new at my local Holden dealer. Wow it was a spaceship. Tri spoke wheels and a body kit to rival anything in hot4s' magazine. And that sound.
Awesome review on an absolute Aussie icon! Nice job on this one Jonny boy!
Definitely a top G in this car 😎
I'm a Ford man through and through but the VS is my all-time favourite Commodore, and you can't top the GTS! This must be one of the best examples out there. Nice work.
Couldn't agree more! This example was immaculate
Finally able to get one of these on the Chanel, how good. Super rare and under rated hsv. Sounds great and has all the option that you’d want. No wonder the owner loves it.
I was really impressed on how well he’s taken car of it! Beautiful example
👏🏼👏🏼 _absolute credit to the owner & previous, RARE ASF, love he’s kept it stock 😍_ … _not sure if the optional “R” “blueprint 230kw” made that much difference but congrats on a piece of 🇦🇺 history_
I agree!! Amazing example was a treat to show off
Brings back memories when 200+fwkw was alot and things like the corsair version with 300+ was a monster. Wayne Gardner specials were another great unique model.
Still the best sounding v8 ever
It’s a beauty
Those seats are awesome!. Stroker v8 and manual. Lets the good times roll.
Don’t make em like that anymore
The front end reminds me of a Saab 9000. Also the tri-spoke wheels.
One of my favourite model commodores of all time!!! They just look and sound so period correct this one's beautiful
Couldn't agree more!
I don’t know anyone born in the 80’s that didn’t want one of these when they came out. I loved those wheels then, not so much now, but I wouldn’t change them. They’re a signature feature of that car for better or worse. That’s a great example of a GTS, and a great review, as always.
It’s a perfect example
Amen, these were the talk of the school playground back in the mid 90s 🔥
Such an amazing era car. It just ooozes 90s sports car. Even the executive model with wind up windows is still sexy.
Awesome car
In my teens when this car came out, there was nothing I wanted more, now I own a 07 VE GTS, never lost the bug still the same heritage
🇦🇺🔥💪 HSV is special
My old man had a VS Clubby when I was 10, and that's what started it for me. To this day, if I ever win the lotto I'd do up a VS Clubby mock with a big stroker LS in it
Magic car....one to hold onto.....
100% 👏
Another great review - It is great to see well cared-for classics like these on your channel so often!
Thank you kindly! Was a pleasure to see this
Stunning example mate! Well done. Look after that piece of our awesome Aussie V8 history.
I had 2 mates who had 1 of these each back in early 2000s i was a few years younger than them & it was the coolest thing cruising around in the pair of them turning heads everywhere you go
That would have been awesome
That’s a proper hsv. Hotted up to the teeth proper Australian v8, 6 speed manual 5 years ahead of every other Holden and those seats too. I recon it would go so good not being too heavy of a car. I Didn’t even know they built this
These are rare cars alright I've only seen 1 in person in Sydney years ago,so the owner is smart to keep it I would too, look at the low ks & condition it's in has to be one of the best out there hands down Johnny, loved this vid cheers man.
Beautiful! I love the tri spoke wheels
Me too!
No RR facial expressions but it was a really good video and you couldn’t wipe the smile off your dial. Beautiful car😉🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing another Holden. It is appreciated. I am sure the owner appreciates the video as well. The interior is nice. I learn something watching your channel and seeing the Holden and Fords from the United States. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoy watching these episodes 👏 Australia was so different with their unique auto industry
@@RossReviewsau Indeed it was....People appreciate the fact they were different. Got to appreciate the Holdens.
VS time let's go!
What a gem eh
Vs is my favourite Holden , our neighbour when I was young had one and I’ve liked them ever since even tho I’m a ford guy ✌️another great review Jonny
Glad you enjoyed it mate
What a mint example.. credit to the owner.. that did 0-100 really well, sounds mint. 👌
Awesome example 👏😍
There isn't much to say about this car except it is so neat, beautiful.
this is beautiful, coolest car i've seen since my grans 911
🇦🇺🔥💪
I have seen this thing in person
Absolutely mint car.
Awesome example👏
The old Iron Lion, may not be the most powerful thing ever, but man do they sound good!
The noise is sweet
VR VS were the best looking commodore ever made!
They’re getting popular now
They are hot cars
Great review of the VS GTS. They were a really nice car for their time. This one is a really clean example. I don’t normally like the tri-spoke rims but I think they suit this model well. Thanks for the review.
Glad you enjoyed it! I had a blast seeing this
I'll be honest, Worked on these in the day. The stroker was a pig car handled like you were riding on a hardwood deck when lowered, Seats were junk and they bankrupted owners when repairing them. Engine was never a highlight only was tuned to drink fuel and be loud. I'm sure he enjoys his car but it was as refined as a timber dildo.
Long live the iron lion 🦁
😤🇦🇺💪
The vr and vs range are my favourite model Holden's because thats when Lightning Larry 11. was knocking them all off at Mt Panorama in his castrol commodore during the mid 90s, especially in 1995 from last to first.👍🏽🏁
*and a special shout-out to a young Craig Lowndes in his beautiful HRT Commodore during this era 015.
My friend bought one of these new. At the time we thought it hauled arse 😂. Now, I think my GFs Mazda 3 SP25 might beat us. Still, it sounds great though.
What a cool original old HSV love cars that haven’t been touched bloody awesome example of that another great find Ross ❤Vz Glenn 🏎
Beautiful example
Never liked the tri spokes in my younger years , but they properly suit them . Proper cool car
Beautiful looking machine, the senator also had the tri spoke alloys. VR and VS are probably my favourite shaped commodore just behindthe VZ. I love the IRS/ABS badge on the centre dash, love it.
Yeh agreed VZ is still my favourite but this was very cool
Wish I never sold my vs clubby.. iv had every fast performance car you can think of.. and the vs was special stroke it with a big cam some 4/11’s 👌🏽
My dad had one with 330Kw, had a bump in the bonnet (proper metal, not stick on) to accommodate the intake trumpets. It was savage. The guy who bought it fr9m him wrote it off 😢
🥲
Love the trispoke wheels on the VS GTS.
Good review too.👌
Thanks! 👍
Great car, excellent review Ross!
Glad you enjoyed it
If you can you need to fine someone willing to let you drive a vh/vb sle. Essentially the birth of hsv. The added extras holden offered for that model run was the spark that really started it all. I still have memories of my Dads sle waking the neighbourhood with its factory optioned 2 3/4 inch exhaust.
Ahhhh yes the VB & VH SLE brings back memories. I preferred the VH with the blue motor & a 4 barrel carb added. The burgandy colour velour interiors were my favourite with the rear seat head rests of course. Didn't own one but a very good friend did, I actually owned a 79' VB SLE dark metallic green over silver (rare colour combo) bone coloured velour interior with a 4.2 litre red & trimatic. Beautiful car, nothing fast (no power under 60klms, highway diff) just an awesome cruiser that snapped necks wherever I went. Could pull 100klms out first gear in manual mode, pop it into third at 150klms, glorious sound. Sorry for the ramblings, lol, your comment just brought back great memories. Wish I never sold it 😢
Btw, speaking of the birth of HSV another great car I owned before the VB SLE was a VB HDT Group 3 with a 4 on the floor.
@@Eye_of_Samadhi
First HDT for public sale was VC.
Grp 3 didn't appear until VH.
Has a similar badass vibe to the Lotus Carlton
I loved the tri spokes as a boy in the 90’s and still do. IMO the Clubsport was the car to have. Non chrome wheels as well. I’m a Ford man but would have one of these any day of the week. Clubby had a 5 spd manual I think.. Mates old man had a red one was shitt hot!
The transition of what was considered fast dramatically changed from the mid 90’s to the early 2000’s. I remember when my 155kw 1996 WRX was revolutionary at the time and then the STi’s came out, LS1 V8’s came out and grey import Skylines and Mitsubishi EVO’s dramatically changed the performance car market. Fun times.
WRX was cool in the 90's police could not keep up with them.
vr vs FTW 30 years old still sexy as
Love the wheels, love the colour and the sound.
Great all round 😍
What a great cruiser. Love it.
One of the best 😤🇦🇺
Amazing car, love it!
Glad you like it!
Nice car thanks for sharing it Jerry it’s a unicorn
It sure is
She sounds badass. One of my dream cars
It’s a beautiful beast eh
@@RossReviewsau Absolutely. One day I'll own one. Hopefully
Holden v8 still sound better then the LS
💪😤
definately a nice car to have in the collection
Man love that car it’s mint, but the VS in general is the goat 💪
Legendary cars
Love the VS GTS. My VT CLUBSPORT 5L 5 speed manual sounds much better. Pacemaker headers, high flow cats, 2 1/2 inch twin system with one muffler and hot dog resonator on each. Down shift rumble and crackles are so good! LOVE YOUR WORK JOHNNY!
Thanks brother! Appreciate the membership too 💪💪💪
May not be the fastest car in todays standards, but whoever owns any of these old school hsvs has my respect regardless. Thats also coming from a ford man haha
hated the tris forever but now im older i kniw the era an kinda like them
They grow on ya
I got a 5 Litre vs spac Ute full stock outta factory 🏭 love the vs so much
Nice mate
Love this car mate
Me too 🤤
Awesome. Dream car.
Goals for sure
Love the rims and such a great car
It is
Beautiful.So cool.
Thanks for visiting
Yeah... these are the nicest stock car I have ever driven. Back when holdens were really good. Also the owner has resting bastard face lol.... Looks grumpy even when he smiles!
Another epic video mate!!
The owner was super nice 😅 absolute legend and what a cool car wh
I'm not a smiley person but happy in general lol and I was still recovering from surgery but thanks for noticing 😂
Beautiful car 😊
It really is!
Fantastic Car
It sure is!
Classic beast 😮
Very rare gem
Awesome 💯%
🙌
Them gts door cards are mint.
Love the wheels just because its the 90s. id hate it on a vf or something
It’s got charm this eh
I dont mind them on a vf.. i wouldnt put it on my vf but i dont mind seeing them on someone elses vf lol
Such a nice car and sounds great.i have an Holden injected short motor and I am wondering If anybody knows what the engine is out ov.the engine number prefix starts with vs .its a 304 injected block that was rebuilt at gem engines back in early 2000.
Best wheels for those hsv's but only on these models 👌
I love em too
Excellent road car
Great cruiser
Nostalgia!!
So good eh
So glad he's done minimal upgrades, that thing's a nest egg.
Just enough but still original driving
Very nice
Very nice
Very nice car 👍🇦🇺
It sure is!
I noww him hes my dads friend they have a car club 😮😮😮😮
The VS GTS Or The VS GTSR Is Actually My Dream Car
Definitely a dream car
wheels are awesome cool as a freezer
We agree!
still the best sounding v8
Amen
have to review my mates au xr8 6speed by mal wood
in black
what a car! 355 stroker the best sounding motor
It’s awesome
Orr Maan ,yumm.
Coolest HSV of the 90s
😎🇦🇺💪
I have a auntie who has the same wheels in a similar car
Those devonish seats where always better feeling than coulsons
Agreed
The 7s were because of the bog. If the drag was clean, an easy mid to early 6s easy.
It was a warm day, forgot to turn the aircon off and a heat soaked engine. It's gone quicker 👍
It’s a backroad test would do better in ideal circumstances
@@PANTHERSVGTS1 Ah ok, yeah heat is an ass for performance.
Wanted the manta only got the ve cause it was pushing more horse's stock 😅
*Yeah...and your "VE" weighs about 5OOkg more than a VS Manta ya peanut. You have the IQ of a sesame seed.*
Mint
Roshh reviews
Amazing hsvs b4 they turned into spaceships
Cool car, like the wheels. Your videos are great Ross but man, I don’t think you need to say “rowing gears” 50 times a video 🤦♂️
be one of the best to drive
Great fun
It looks like a Saab 9-5 opel calibra had a baby 😂
Almost 😂
Holden Calibra actually used VS headlights but had panels over them that made them look different.💯
nice! gg
