It's good that a car company that makes 4x4 utes has finally read the room, listened to customers and put a decent engine in it. V8 would've been even better but I'll make do.
700 hrps barra would have been better than a v8
The bigger the engine, generally, the more fuel you use and economy is a big thing to many people.

Saw one of these yesterday in southeast London. Caught my eye because one of my daughter's four chickens is named Raptor 'cos she looks like a miniature velociraptor. The pickup I saw just looked stupid in London on local side road. My son could use a one with six seats and covered back in North Wales cattle farming now his wife just had 4th baby
Ive got no need for a dual cab ute .won't be going off road won't be carrying anything won't be towing but I want one badly for bragging rights at a BBQ and looking so tough and cool at the maccs drive through
It's amazing that you just assumed it's fake air vents... It's not Toyota, or VW. They It's a Ford. They do real engineering, and think about the machine and the operator in a practical and innovative way. Thank the heavens in 2022 we still have a manufacturer that can think for themselves and deliver amazing products. Thank you Henry Ford for an incredible legacy ❤️

Great review! America is looking forward to getting the new Ranger Raptor maybe in 2024? You mentioned the towing capacity being 2,500 kilos. If I'm Imperializing those numbers correctly, that means the Raptor is towing roughly 5,500 pounds and the standard Ranger is towing 7,700ish pounds. Assuming the power trains remain the same and the steering wheel moves to the other side, I would expect we get something similar here with the Raptor and maybe some front end changes on the standard Ranger.
Wish us luck! The new body style was supposed to be happening in 2023 but it's been pushed back to 2024. I've ordered an old body style 2023 Ranger Tremor in the meantime so it will be interesting to compare it to all the new interior tech as our 2023 looks more like a 2003 inside.
Those final thoughts were definitely worth the weeks wait...
I'll have to stick with my remapped Wildtrak for now but that is finally what's needed for the name.

Bruh your back pose was spot on lol, i can't wait to get my raptor in the US.. next year i think.. rocking a Tremor currently i think it's like your wildtrak but better. The air vents actually arent fake though, they have openings tbh.
My local dealer threw the keys at me to drive one last week- WOW. Everyone is talking about the inner door handles-they are a tribute to the 70's F truck and much better than everything out there as you can hold the door as you open it.

its almost like a 4x4 ute and a sport car had a baby . i own a fj cruiser and i30sedan n for roughly the same money as this one vehicle . I use to firmly think with vehicles its better to get built for purpose other wise you end up with compromise with the cross over vehicle hitting neither of the marks sufficiently enough . saying that, this does tick a lot of off road boxes and breaks new ground in off road sport driving but how is going to be fully laden with all the off road gear ? and yet again there are better on road sport cars you can get for half the price . this rapter has me wondering can 1 better than 2 ?

What a fabulously flamboyant ford! What every equally fabulously flamboyant ford fancier should drive, when they arent swaddled in leather on their Harley Davidson or sinking a few ice cold Bud Lights with that special Dylan in their life.

Only issue Raptor is price & possibly fuel consumption being petrol compared to the 2 Diesel Wildtrack options

Love how your leg is the same height as the shifter... totally rubs it and likely to bump the shift buttons. Why would they make that so low?? Everything else is pretty decent.
In the UK the normal ranger can pull 3.5 ton and the raptor only 2.5 ?

I have a 2020 ranger and love it. Amazing little truck.

Great review. Probably one of the best I've seen. Love this truck except for one thing. The bloody fuel consumption is mentally ludicrous. I've had mates who've taken this thing off road and seen 30L/100km FFS. Even around town you'll be lucky to see under 15L/100km. Sure some wife-beaters out there will say "Nobody buys this for the fuel economy" but let's see how long these former inmates laugh after six months of ownership. I'd say they'll be back to robbing grannies for money and be back inside and a few of these trucks (mostly bought on hire purchase at insane interest rates) will be back on the market.
Yes Darren - the fuel consumption is ridiculous and glad to have it confirmed because many online folk disputed my claims about this but with the greatest respect Ford like Holden is only a brand a bogan could love and the least likely to be concerned about the planet - they like to annoy us with their power and noise intruding on our peace - I do drive an unmodified Hilux because it does everything I need and my senior age means I don’t have to show off - Ford also has poor reliability - yes Toyota were neglectful recently but I will own one above anything else.

Of course such thugs also think they're the world's best drivers. Combine that power with a light rear end and many of these wanker tanks will end up wrapped around trees or worse - murdering some poor father's innocent daughter coming the other way.
@@darrenprior6339 thank you for your respectful reply Darren. - yes I also worry about my daughters (three and grandchildren) being taken away by some of these thugs - the world needs smarter folk like you to try and balance this and yes I know there are good respectful drivers out there - if people want to make uninformed emotive decisions with all their ‘hire purchase’ funds then that’s their cross to bear - you can live in a house but not really a car forever - stay safe and avoid the thugs if you can and enjoy your next 4WD trek.

Tow capacity is a bit dissapointing. Engine seems like the best feature and hopefully the 10 sp is more reliable. Sure to attract a lot of cashed-up tradies looking for power aka mines bigger n your's maate!

Four years and 116,000km in a first gen Ranger Raptor and never once has the 2500kg towing been a drama....... most people who actually buy one either:
- Don't need to tow big loads thus don't care...
- Have a second car that can tow bigger loads...
Can you drive day to day in 2wd? or does it lock the diff in 2wd?

2WD is open diff... you can lock diff in Baja mode at speeds up to something like 85kph but over that it'll unlock

Yes the old one looks more pumped but the new raptor sits side by side with the normal ranger you could tell that it’s taller and and looks much fierce. Ordered mine in Malaysia but the waiting list is around 1 year, sad😢
Shame its not classed as commercial vehicle in the UK so not Tax deductable. Which limits its market by many country miles. I have a Ranger storm due in December which has the 1 tonne capacity so tax deductible. happy days.

These "mini" Raptors are awesome. This was what I joked about getting if I couldn't get the F-150 Raptor, but back then they didn't exist. I guess Ford thought that these Rangers would make great "mini" Raptors too. But I got lucky and found a great deal on the exact black on black Raptor I wanted. It's a 2010, and in great shape.

It’s an Australian thing, all built in Asia to Asian specs, for $100 grand. Full size picks ups are up to $160 grand. We are robbed for choice, robbed for delivery and just robbed blind on price.

Changed my Everest pre-order for a Ranger Raptor. Yes, I have to wait 6 months longer but well worth it :) BTW, NOT FAKE AIRVENTS :) THEY ARE REAL WORKING AIRVENTs. ALSO, BTW, at about 20min when you guys are giving the Raptor the beans you guys sound like a gay porn video, really.

I’m not at all speechless and not surprised that this is looking more like a US truck because that’s what ‘blokes love maaate’ - the reviewer should take a leaf out of Shauno’s 4WD 24/7 review against the previous model because there’s a lot of poor ideas in the underbelly and engine bay Including the ridiculously poor fuel economy - yes bogan’s love their big Fords and Holden’s and many are gravitating towards the latest utes regardless of cost because they’re embarrassed to be seen in their old ‘Falcoon’ ute.

You can still option the new Raptor with the same engine in some countries. Not everyone wants speed, they would rather have range.

The interior does look like a children's toy. Which is also about how long this thing will last before it all starts falling apart.
