    Kristen and Fabio, thank you so much for sharing my previous comment. Your kindness and generosity truly shine through in all that you do. It's amazing to see how you dedicate your time and effort to include your viewers in your journey. While you may not have the same stresses as those in corporate careers or living on land, I know there are still challenges that can weigh on you. Remember to take care of yourselves and prioritize your own enjoyment amidst all your hard work. You deserve to savor every moment of this incredible experience. Balance is the key. Keep shining bright!

    Fabio surely enjoying a bit of sail surgery. Nice that Yoda's developing new hobbies; brave that she's chosen base jumping. Kristin, you've created a fantastic channel, I've enjoyed every episode. Some of us stuck in a rainy city would be happy just to stare at an open horizon - you've taken us on an adventure. Nothing in this life is really ever free , whether it’s the energy you put in to climbing up to see the fabulous views , the “boat work” you have to do to keep travelling to far off locations , training your breathing and holding your breath to allow you to spend longer under water to view the fantastic marine life, but the rewards are great and thank you for putting in the effort to share those experiences with all of us who are never going to be able to do all the things we see you do , but be assured we too are living our lives to the full , but in different ways. 😃🍻🥂

    What I love about your channel is that you both are real. We see when you're happy as much as when you're done or tired or in ectasy because of an incredible experience you just had! You're not actors or like many pther channels in which they create a problem to solve or pretend smart or just attract attention. You're not star on a reality show. You're a kind couple living their life with a dog on a boat, determined to face whaterever comes.
    I perfectly understand the last scene on this video. It comes from real life. From the kindness of someone you'll probably never see but relates to you. That's one of the beauties of our techno "small world". Maybe you feel too committed to your patreons for their contribuitions (which is fair), and this is putting pressure on you as a work, exactly the pressure you were trying to escape when you started your journey.
    In my opinion, from miles and miles away, that's where you must focus you search for balance.
    I say this to all sailing couples that I follow: we are the spectators of YOUR journey. The only "obligation" you should have to us is to enjoy your journey and tell us how it is going. If nothing happens in a week, there's nothing to tell. That's life. Simple like that.
    Take a break to enjoy the journey. It is necessary from time to time to relax, let life flow with the head "empty" of obligations.
    I truly believe that none of your Patreons or followers want to see a stressed-out couple killing each other to take a boat around the world. A break, one time or another, is so needed. Specially when you're in Pradise - if you don't have time to experience its pleasures, what's the point, isn't it?
    In a small phrase: relax and enjoy it! Then tell us how it was, with no compromise with the agenda.
    All the best, my dears! See you on the next video - doesn't have to be next week ;)

      Great question!! We don’t own depth computers so we don’t really know. Kristin dives comfortably 50 feet and holds her breath for over 3 minutes on static breath hold. When chasing the eagle rays she recorded 3 minutes of video on the GoPro holding her breath, which is crazy. I (Fabio) used to do static breath hold for 4 minutes but since my 4 bouts with Covid I am struggling a bit

    I'm going to double down on my comment last week. I definitely think a new main sail at a minimum is definitely worth consideration sooner than later. I know you previously said 3Di sails are likely out of your price range. I did see Doyle now does structured luff sails for cruisers now too and they have lofts in Asia. When it comes to getting new sails or at least a new main what are your thoughts on (North, Doyle, Kemp, Quantum, Ullman, Precision, Elvstrom, Ashby, etc...)
    Also, I've also enjoyed your content over the past few months. Your attention to detail is showing vs. some of your peers. It isn't a competition but it kinda is.

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching and for your very flattering comment!! Our main is definitely on life support 😂. We plan to go to the Annapolis boat show and talk to some of the sailmakers to decide which one est suits our needs. We have worked with Precision Sails and have been very happy with them. We love NS 3DI. We had Elvstom on our Dragonfly 35 and love them.
      Hopefully when we are in NZ we can get a new wardrobe.
      Again we appreciate your viewership and support 😊😊😊😊

  • @gbsailing9436
    @gbsailing9436 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey Fabio, While you have the sail down, I'd be rounding off those corners of the makeshift batten's 'cap'. But just don't round them off - I'd be filing the ends off so that they are round and "smooth" everywhere - as a baby's bum before sailing with the new batten in the pocket. Otherwise the end will rub mercilessly at the pocket END near the LUFF and really destroy the sail at the worst possible place - near the luff edge - the worst place to try and repair. I'd even go so far as to dip the end in Resin to create a nice rounded glue 'knob' to the cap and have a more smooth finish to the cap after all the filing. Imagine if there were no jobs to do - just how bored you be! Ha Ha Ha! Do you have scuba tanks with you? That huge wall looked like such a fantastic dive site and the fish life was amazing. I have to agree with 'Carl Mims', your work effort in the videoing and lifestyle tips (especially Fabio's cooking segments! and your expert skippering of course!) show an unflappable ethic while sailing and dealing with life issues! Great job guys!
    Thank the LORD you found Yoda after the walk! Yay! WOW what a place, such great scenery and topography with stunning views. Fair 💨's and Following 🌊's.

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the advice on the batten caps, I did smooth the corners (not on video) but using resin to make it extra smooth is a great suggestion.
      We do have tanks but no compressor so we use them sparingly when we have friends who have a compressor. We like to keep them full for emergencies (like a stuck anchor 😂). When we get to NZ we will try to buy a compressor ( budget permitting.
      Yup, Yoda gave us a scare, it doesn’t come through on video very well but it was a steep and loooong way down. 😳😳

    • @gbsailing9436
      @gbsailing9436 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the prompt reply. I apologise if my comments may seem common sense, which you are already aware of! LOL. I should have realised (with all your experience by now) that you'd be making better efforts than what is necessarily shown on camera! If you are going to resin the end you could even take the green tape off and pop a couple of strands of fibreglass tape of the ends and then use resin as per...I was going to suggest flat stitching along those patches on both sides as an 'after effort' - rather than just relying on the four corner 'tacks' - when you had the time. Hopefully the glue will hold well.
      I'm sorry you don't have a compressor yet. I think I had asked you previously. Keep looking around for a 2nd hand one on your travels. Just the thickness of the plantation was an issue let alone the steepness. Good job!@@HarborsUnknown

    Hi guys, bit of a random question, your boat looks amazing with the flexiteak you have. I’ve been on a few boats recently where the flexiteak is marked or scuffed; In your opinion do you think it’s a good idea to have it or not? Thanks x

      Thank you for watching and for asking an important question.
      Flexiteak has become popular for looks and practical benefits. Like anything else on a boat it comes with trade offs, advantages and disadvantages
      Low maintenance and durability- It is resistant to sun damage, saltwater, and abrasion, and stronger than natural teak.
      If you drop something heavy it will dent or mark, but the same would happen other materials. It also will scratch with sharp items. On the plus side, scuffs can de repaired with similar color paste and sandpaper. It is a bit porous, if you have standing water it will stain with mold but it sands like teak. It doesn’t stain permanently with diesel or oil.
      Look and feel- It provides the classy appearance of wood without the drawbacks. It comes in different colors to match different boat styles. When you walk on it, it is grippy and feels safe. Unfortunately it can get hot under direct sunlight, making it uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. Heat retention can also transfer to the cabin below.
      Cost: Over the long term, the low maintenance and high durability can make it a more cost-effective option compared to real teak, but not to regular gelcoat! It is supposed to last 15 years or more. The upfront cost can be high.
      Additional weight is another consideration.
      Thank you for watching, we hope that this answers your questions 😊😊😊

    In a poetic tale on the sea's vast expanse, Two yachts set sail, each with its own chance. Wanderlust and Eoti, their names so clear, Embarked on waters where choices steer.
    As they sailed forth, diverging their way, Eoti chose the harbor, where comforts lay. While Wanderlust, bold and free in its might, Ventured afar, chasing dreams in the night.
    Half a world away, its sails unfurled, Wanderlust roamed, across the watery world. Eoti, anchored safe in the known bay, Content with the familiar, where it would stay.
    The winds of fate blew, each vessel's own course, Reflecting choices, with consequence force. In Frost's silent woods or on oceans wide, Two yachts, two paths, where destinies bide.
    Though different their journeys, the essence remains, In the choices we make, our life's refrains. For in every voyage, be it near or astray, Lies the echo of choices, along the way.
    Amidst the vast expanse of seas we roam, A balance we find, as wanderers and home. In cruising's dance, between those who venture far, And those who anchor close, beneath the evening star.
    Love's gentle breeze, a guiding light we share, In moments of joy, and burdens we bear. Through storms and calms, our souls intertwine, In the embrace of love, transcending time.
    The trials we face, like waves against the hull, Have weathered us true, through pain and pull. Yet, through it all, the beauty does gleam, In the depths of our hearts, like a timeless dream.
    In the tapestry of life, we're threads intertwined, In the fabric of love, our spirits aligned. For in our loves eyes, we see the reflection clear, Of the amazing humans, we hold dear.
    As we journey on, in the ebb and flow, May love be our compass, wherever we go. In cruising's balance, in love's tender grace, We find our home, in our loves embrace.

      You are a poet end even I didn’t know it!
      Wanderlust roams, Eoti stays,
      Sam feasts well, while Fabio sways.
      Sam sips wine with a cheer,
      Fabio drinks water, not crystal clear.
      (With 450ppm because something is wrong with the water maker 😂😂)
