    As a Kawasaki ZX6R I’ve hit 170 indicated !! We all know the Speedos are way off, you be riding 90 indicated and you know the traffic around isn’t doing 90. Most likely their doing the posted 75 plus a little. I get tired of the guys that think the Speedo’s are anywhere near to accurate. To me the worst offenders are the Europeans.

    Great video and props to you for checking with the GPS that's what a real man do.
    However, claiming that weight doesn't affect top speed, I have a hard time understanding that. If you tune a car or bike and it increases it's power by 10% it will add some top speed, the vehicle produces more power at the crank and at the wheels. The same applies with weight, by having less weight you get more power at the wheels. By being a heavyweight your bike produce less WHP. Of course gearing can be an issue but if the engine can't come to the limiter and the gearbox isn't limited to a set number of rpms, then more power will help the engine come near or attain the limiter, thus providing more speed.
    My 2 cents

    • @BlueDevilMoto
      @BlueDevilMoto  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@ravedisc of course a drastic difference in weight will have an affect. I’m talking about the difference between a 150lb rider and 170lb rider. Difference is negligible. Comes down to gearing and tune. Although if a bike makes 120hp it makes 120 hp. It’s not going to magically make 130hp with a lighter rider that’s not how that works. Weight affects friction (whp) but that is also negligible unless you’re talking 200+ mph purpose built roll bikes… friction is still a bigger factor than weight. Wind resistance, bearings, chain, brakes, etc.

    • @ravedisc
      @ravedisc วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@BlueDevilMoto okay, now I can say that we in fact agree. Yes, such weight differences wouldn't have a factually important impact.

    2:00 - Not true. Weight does affect top speed.
    This formula is very rudimentary and doesn't take friction into account.
    The formula for rolling resistance is Fr = c * W. Since weight plays a role in the rolling resistance, it also plays a role in what your top speed will be.
    Otherwise, according to your claim; an underpowered 250 HP semi with a 40000 KG load going up a 10% incline would with a tall enough gear ratio be able to overtake a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport going 300 MPH.

      @@Mikkel111
      Assuming rolling resistance is negligible, top speed means the speed in which the rate of acceleration provided by engine power is equal to the rate of deceleration provided by drag. If the rider is hypothetically 300 kg in mass, top speed will still be the same, but the acceleration to get there remains same.

    • @Mikkel111
      @Mikkel111 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@joshuarenacia694 Your assumption would be foolish.
      No, top speed would not be the same. It's literally as simple as looking at the equation provided. If friction is != 0, the top speed will change.
      According to your claim, if you were to apply the brakes, you'd still have the same top speed, as you apparently only want to account for aerodynamic drag - again, foolish.

    • @joshuarenacia694
      @joshuarenacia694 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mikkel111 You are right, though. In cases comparing to bikes with the same power, but testing it with 2 different guys - one at 140 lbs and the other at 190 lbs- the weight differential that will result in varying rolling resistances is negligible. At normal conditions, such as observed in this video, that rolling resistance differential could not make any significant effects to the rate of deceleration produced by the bike's shape. I am not saying you wrong. It is just that the primary factor that is in the role of this bike's top speed is aerodynamic drag, in these conditions.

    this top speed makes sense, very good discussion about the drag. my striple675r only goes 140 fully tucked (based on online data ;]) due to the lack of aero. hard to do the math without testing the frontal area of each bike, wish that data was out there for the pickings, but there's a whole slew of equations you can use to calculate the drag force and relate it to top speed using the gear ratios... ride safe y'all, don't replicate this RIDE 5 gameplay on a greenscreen :(
