I have a 675R 2013 and its just an absolute gem. I have nothing to say except excellent smiles per gallon. Fantastic bike and its so sad they discontinued it. Nothing like it imo even in it's class
Great video. I also read the article. Perfectly said! I plan on keeping my 2008 Daytona 675 SE for FOREVER! And this video explains that perfectly. When the day comes, my D675 will be a piece of art to stare at in the living room.
I’ve a street triple ‘08 with intake, exhaust and ecu flashed that outputs 110whp on the dyno and still haven’t found any new bike from the same category that gives the same excitement of pure rawness of a twitchy throttle and no assists.. I guess I’ll have to keep it until the engine stops running.. (it’s my daily since 2017 and currently have 75k kms..) I wish I could try a daytona one day so I could compare both bikes.. sadly in spain they are really hard to find..
Haha I have the same idea, bought a 2012 675 couple years ago now turned into track bike, It will one day become a decorative piece in the house when the time come
Very cool video. I feel like the 2013+ Daytona was the sweet spot. It has all the mechanical charm of the original with a bit more top end zest and a QS as standard (cable throttle too). I rode the Moto2 special edition on track and felt the same as you did. It’s a bit digital and way too buttery smooth without the mechanical weirdness.
I posted a video around the same time as this comparing my friends 2011 Street Triple with the New 2021 to see how they compare. I really enjoyed listening to your comparisons on the old and new bikes, great video as always! 😁👍
What a great video! I really enjoyed watching it. The Moto2 looks even better in person. It's a stunning piece of kit. But, there is something about the 675 that really appeals to me. I wish I had a bigger garage. :)
It would have been nice to see the latest Street Triple with a fairing on it of a new design. Slightly higher rev limit and longer geared in 1st and 2nd....in showrooms for 12k
Good comparison. I absolutely love my '14 675. I would have actually bought the new 765 instead if it had a rear seat for the wife. Also, all that carbon fiber just scares me, despite how beautiful it looks.
Great video! I love Daytona 675s, I've owned 2, it is one of the best handling bikes ever made! What will it take for Triumph to build a £12k non-limited edition daytona 765 or a daytona 660 for £9k? .....money waiting triumph...
I love Triumphs. Have had many Daytonas and they are so underrated. They are so agile and “flick-able”. I sold my 675R and 675SE to upgrade to the 765 for track and street. Great video!
Hi, can you please give me some advice on the Daytona's as you've had all the experience. I'm looking to buy my first Daytona (coming from a ZX7R) & was almost on the verge of buying a 765 Moto2, but am now thinking a standard 2013 onwards Daytona maybe the more sensible option. I will only ride the bike on dry weekends on the road, don't much like the TFT techno screen with all the options on it (actually prefer the old school needle rev counter) that I may never use, & also a worry about dropping & damaging the carbon fibre on the Moto. So, with all that in mind, is a 765 Moto really worth double the money of say a 2016 675 for road use?
@@stevesas632 in all honesty, it was for me but I’m a triumph addict. Auto blip down and electronics are incredible ….but you can’t go wrong with a standard 675 (preferably R model with Ohlins and Brembo). All depends on your budget!
@@RyGriff Thank you, do think the Ohlins & Brembo are much better even for road riding, or are they just bling? Which suspension is more compliant over bumpy roads for instance?
I’m 6’3” and a big dude pretty close to 300 lbs …I feel like a lot of bikes just don’t work with my body size …any suggestions on bikes I should look at ….would like an electric but am open to gas too
This makes me think of the philosophy that Porsche has. Rather have it as an evolution than a revolution. I think Triumph would do well by producing 2 types of these bikes. 1 that’s exactly like this bike but called the r and another 1 with the Moto2 emblem but is a Moto2 bike with lights and a license plate.
The first 675 Daytona was the mesh nosed one, not the plastic slat one in this video - mind you, spec-wise they probably identical, just being pedantic :-D
@@onthethrottle9230 Yeah it's definitely a bit of a hybrid. It seems to have the Gen2 motor, but it has Gen1 bodywork (sans the front cowl) and Gen1 brakes... Well he says it's a 2006 so I guess it was at one point a Gen1 lol
I just acquired a 2009 Tornado Red with only 3000 miles :) What an absolute gem :) I prefer the solid color faring with the black calipers and gunmetal rims :) And of course the under tail exhaust is just amazing :) And don't forget about the sound of the gear driven counter shaft :)
The older gen 675s like the one in the vid are still some of the prettiest sport bikes ever made in my opinion.
True that 💯
Ditto
Yep…gorgeous! ❤
@@johnnycan86 What year product your daytona675!
I have one 675 (2008) I love it,
is amazing bike for me.

reality soon for new (super daytona 765) Hello from Greece 🇬🇷!!!!

So long story short- buy a 2011-12 675R. Truly the best there ever was. Now the tricky part is being able to find one ;)

And it was your favorite to wreak and hurt others on.
yeah how did that go ..lol
Yammie Noob knows best
Loved it so much, you wanted to tell the undeserving people in that yellow Porsche about it
how is buttery smooth a bad thing??? 😅
First bike I had still love till this day 2006 675 in yellow. Thanks for this videos thinking of another, well done.
I just picked up a 2011 Daytona and I am super excited about it! I love the undertail exhaust
Great idea, love this! More old Vs new
Seconded.
Nice to see a proper "old" bike from early 2000's. Ducati streetfighter or aprilia tuono would make good content.

Love both- I own a 2013 Daytona 675R and gotta say the higher Rpm’s make the 675 a way more thrilling ride on and off track.
What a great video! I really enjoyed watching it. The Moto2 looks even better in person. It's a stunning piece of kit. But, there is something about the 675 that really appeals to me. I wish I had a bigger garage. :)
I own an 08 daytona and a k6 gsxr 1000... Best bikes ever made for dual purpose. Road/track. So much fun

Yep, just make an intermediate Daytona with the street triple engine. Would have sold like hotcakes 👍
Love these comparisons! Would like to see what the actual lap times were comparatively.
Maybe that's the next video
The 2006 model looks stunning, not sure about the 765 version although don't doubt it's more user friendly but it's the old girl for me.
Good comparison. I absolutely love my '14 675. I would have actually bought the new 765 instead if it had a rear seat for the wife. Also, all that carbon fiber just scares me, despite how beautiful it looks.
The Rawness of 675 is just beautiful. The sharpness of the old bike is a great. But I could do without the twitchiness of the 675.
Owned a 2014 street triple 675 for like 3 years and got my 2011 Daytona 675r a month ago. Don’t think I’m selling it ever.
It's a 2009 (gen2) model based on the looks of the headlight.
Picking up a Moto2 today. 690/765
I appreciate the comparison.
You didn’t over sensed it… thanks for picking it up. Absolutely correct! Abs has that heavy build, whereas non abs, man they are butter on fingers!

Great vid! I have an 06 Sprint ST 1050. No driver help, it's only me. The way I love it. 125 hp is all I need.
Like the old school bike, feel like a real Monster everything do manually no electronic intervention just pure ride 🔥🔥🔥
Would be interesting how the moto2 compares with a 2013 and up meldel since they hand worked on the frame for the h67
Damn good review - the old one looks so good.
Had my gen 1 675 for 10 years now. I'll never sell it.
It looks like a 2009-12 model. The 06 Daytona have different headlights.
It's a 06 with an 09 nose.
I just got my 765. I love it.
What about a 2017 675r? Why are you going way back to 2006?? No one else thinks this is pointless?
Great comparison!
Two words. Simply Awesome! 👍😎
Nice complet comparaison
I would love to know what you tinks is missing on the 765 to be a race machine..
I have a 07 and a 2013 675r i had the exact same opinion. The first gen is definitely more track focused
great comparison!!

Gonna do this with my 2006 Ktm 950 Sm & 2003 Aprilia RSV Mille 😈
Those the 675r parts fits on the new Daytona2 I have the new one but want more parts for her
Can you even get frame protectors for the 765?
Its a shame the didnt bring the Daytona 765 as a normal version

Bravo.. 👏
Do the new 765s have a pillion and passenger pegs? It looks like they don't...
Looking at the tie wrap the old fork may be ok
That dash of the late Moto2 is so much better than the one of the current Moto2, why Triumph, why??
Excellent!
The red one isn't a gen 1 its a gen 2. Not much difference really. But thought I would mention it
Actually I think I'm wrong 🤔 Has silver engine cases which is a gen1 but gold wheels which is gen 2 and gen 2 front fairing/lights
All that said and they can’t install LEDs on the 765
Great vid....busy key rings 🤪
I hate to contradict you, but I'm pretty certain that is not a 2006 Daytona. It looks more like the 2009 version.
675 it is!
the 765 is the best handling bike this side of the ultra expensive MV Agusta!
Now if we can only get a Daytona 1200 😭
The sound on the older bike sounds way better
The first 675 Daytona was the mesh nosed one, not the plastic slat one in this video - mind you, spec-wise they probably identical, just being pedantic :-D
guess he changed the plastics to look like the facelifted bike, because brakes and everything else is 2006-spec on his bike
I wonder why triumph never joined the small displacement (below 600) japanese sportbike wars.
So…what else ya got in mothballs?😎
Awesome review! What track is this?
Blyton Park, a former WWII air base in Lincolnshire, UK.
Looks like a great track. Thanks!
Don't for get there is the new bike next year. Speed triple 1200rr.
Can the moto2 compete with 600cc?
2017 best model
Is a 2017 different to a 2013?
All things considered, new one is not worth the extra money...
I love my 765
"the very first... of the triumph Daytona triples". Ahem, not really. You're forgetting about the 1997 Daytona T595...
in summary they added a 100cc and detuned it. so its a triumph daytonazzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Also, what you have there is not even the first of the 675s. That's a Gen2...
Gen 1 with gen 2 indicators and intake trim in nose cone
@@M_S-pf3bt You are correct. But the entire nose cone is gen 2 (different headlight shape and little detail behind the headlight give it away)
Gen 2 has black engine cases. Not silver so its a mash up of both

The registration says 2008 to me
Have you ridden a winning moto2 bike? I bet it wouldn't be twitchy and lairy.
Yes it would. GP bikes are stiff as broom handles compared to road going bikes.
New bike so ugly
